spotpchehehe I could write a killer personal statement back in high school. But that was a long time ago. The trick is to have a big vocabulary and use as many different words as you can without making it sound trumped up. It's easier than it sounds.I think I'll check out some of those other videos. flight815surviverYeah I guess teachers telling us its really really hard doesn't help one hellof a lot. A funny video to check it is gaston sawyer. A bit daft but quite skillflly donw if ya tink about it. It was winner of the june contest, a lost video to a disney track lmao.| #52 Jul 26th 2006, 1:43pm

g2forceI agree with you i see it a little differnt but the same(i just wanted to say something.)the thing about that is when she was going to tell jack the truth she did not want to but she thought that he deserved the truth. Jack did the right thing by not asking her to tell him because then she wouldhave been scared. since he did not ask she doesnt have to tell.that was more of a bonding moment between them... and there are times when they arguee, i NOT denying that, but when they do it's over a good point and they always make it up in the end( although it seemed like it took forever for them to get over their big fight in season 2) :( It's not like i dont see Sawyers side 2 its just that i find it hard to see him with anyone really. he seems to bigheaded!Thats just how some people are though i think hes a great friend but i cant see him ever caring for someone 100% like Jack can and weve seen it.Hes scared to loose her just like Jack but i think sawyer isn't (as of the finale) going to make any moves, because he cant possibly be over AnaLulu(may she rest in peace) that seemed really ** him. but Jack he seems more ready to do whatever he can to get and keep Kate safe. i still Love them together... they make the show even more interesting!!!| #53 Jul 30th 2006, 2:30pm

spotpcI see where you're coming from. But I think it's Sawyer who's ready for a relationship right now. Jack has alot of issues that he needs to work out on his own. A relationship now would only get in his way and complicate things. Especially if the relationship was as strained as the one he would have with Kate. Sawyer has issues too, but he needs a relationship to help work out those issues. And so does Kate. If Sawyer had not committed murder just before the crash, then I'd say you were right. But with that act, he finally hit bottom and he knows it. Now he needs help to climb back up. I think a relationship would help both Kate and Sawyer heal their wounds and become better people. And really, a relationship between Kate and Sawyer would be a lot healthier than one between Kate and Jack. You might be right about Kate offering to confess to Jack. Maybe she didn't really want to. But either way, it was a way for him to make a deeper connection with her. If he had listened and accepted her with her past, it could have reassured her. But he refused. It could be that he just wanted to wait until she wasn't scared. But will that ever happen? It's impossible to know right now. As for the thing between Sawyer and Ana Lucia, it's always sad when someone you know dies. But he never had any deep feelings for her. I think it was more a case of her being a manipulative ** and him having no self-control. | #54 Jul 31st 2006, 5:31am

flight815surviverI think he refused because he knew he wouldn't be able to accept it so it may have been for the best. I think you have a point about him not wated to make her do something she wasn't ready for.| #55 Jul 31st 2006, 9:06am

spotpcI think Jack has some self-confidence issues he needs to work out. There are a lot of anime characters with the same problem. The iconic one being Shinji Ikari, who most fans of Evangelion want to see dead just to put him out of his misery. But I don't think Jack is that bad. He's more like Koji Aiba of Infinite Ryvius. He just doesn't believe he has what it takes to be the leader and help his friends. But when he gets his confidence up to a good level, he can be pretty awesome. Sawyer, on the other hand, is more like Yuki Aiba, Koji's younger brother. Yuki closes himself off from people and believes that he can make it on his own. He's more likely to solve a problem with his fists than his words. Koji tries to reach out to him, but they always end up fighting. They were also in love with the same girl, which didn't help. Altogether, the similarities are remarkable.| #58 Aug 08th 2006, 5:54am

SassyLostieSawyer and Kate are meant for each other. Sure, Jack and Kate had that tension, angst, and those horrible cutesy moments back in the first season, but come on. Sawyer can really understand Kate, I mean really understand her, just as she can him. They are similar, they are tortured souls. Jack on the other hand cannot understand her as well as Sawyer can, he just can't, it's not how he's made. He's in the business of fixing, and I don't think he'll ever realize that he wasn't put on earth to fix Kate. She doesn't need fixing, she needs someone who'll understand her, who'll love her and protect her without challenging who she is, and Sawyer's that person.| #62 Dec 16th 2006, 4:31pm

flight815surviverThe sad thing is tht he'd really ry, but we saw in I Do that she can't be settled she's a runner, so she needs some one that can run with her. Jack just couldn't do that.| #63 Dec 17th 2006, 6:08am

SassyLostieWow, I have a fan! Thanks! I think it's in 'Life of a Con' which I haven't been getting reviews in lately. *sad face* I also will be posting another soon that is similar called 'Someone To Run To'. It's about 8 chapters long and is finished. Hope you enjoy the rest of my fics and feel free to give me ideas, in Lost Fanfiction forum in here there is a thread where you can post ideas. Okay, back to skate.Jack couldn't care for her and even love her like Sawyer can and does, he'd try like you said flight815survivor, but would fail. He'd fight with her, try to change her, but Sawyer won't because he loves her and wants her jsut the way she is. | #66 Dec 18th 2006, 4:40pm
|
|
spotpcAre you suggesting that Sawyer and Kate wouldn't fight? Even in a complete Utopia, I don't think that's possible. But seriously, I know what you mean. Sawyer wouldn't try to force her to change. She would change simply by virtue of being loved unconditionally. And he would change that way too. He's already changed alot since the beginning.| #67 Dec 19th 2006, 4:48am

flight815surviverhe doesn't, that i can think of, but if they were tgether he would. But not for selfish reasons, just through tring to fix her, he try to chnage her. For one thing, he couldn't run with her, he'd smother her with taco nights and children.| #70 Dec 19th 2006, 12:44pm

SassyLostieIt's true. And no, I wasn't saying they wouldn't fight. Their relatiosnhip will by no means be only fluff and love, though there should be some, I'm guessing it'll be full of angst but fueled by love. That's why it'll work. They're perfect for each other.| #71 Dec 19th 2006, 12:52pm

|
spotpcWell, there was that time when they were trying to find the key to the Haliburton case... But he wasn't forcing her to change exactly. He just wanted to know what he was getting into. I think it's more a case of her feeling like she HAD to change for him. She would feel forced even if he wasn't doing anything on purpose. The thing about her affair with Sawyer is that she doesn't feel forced. I think that might be what's at the root of her decision-making process on this. Even though she fights with Sawyer more, she seems more comfortable with him because she doesn't feel like she needs to change.| #72 Dec 19th 2006, 1:16pm

flight815surviverHe was sorta trying to get her to change, wnating to know her secrets when she didnt want to tell. Something Sawyre wouldn't do.| #73 Dec 19th 2006, 1:18pm

SassyLostieWhile we're on the subject, what right did Jack have to the case anyway? It had Kate's personal items in it. And it's not like she would've hoarded the guns (most likely) and refused to help anyone out while they were being attacked, she would've helped them out. I mean, c'mon Jack. Leave her alone! It's so annoying how in the beginning it's like, 'what did you do?' 'no, I don't wanna know' 'okay now I'm ready, what did you do' and then 'omg you're so horribble for not telling you're deepest secrets' ...etc. How stupid!| #74 Dec 19th 2006, 1:41pm

spotpcWell, she did ask him to help. And to his credit, he did help her, in spite of her incredibly suspicious behavior during the whole incident. But he'd be damned if she was going to lead him into trouble without informing him first. We know how he hates to fly blind. And it turned out to be a smart decision on his part to get his hands on the contents of the case. It was those guns that allowed his crew to catch Ethan. While I agree that it was unfair of him to ask her those personal questions, I think making the guns a group asset was definitely the right way to go. A good leader keeps the interests of the group in mind at all times.| #75 Dec 20th 2006, 5:14am

flight815surviverBut KAte probably would've given him the guns anyway. Although it was nice of him to help her.| #76 Dec 20th 2006, 9:16am

SassyLostieSure, she needed help, but yeah. She would've given him the guns and kept her personal items to herself, why did he have to go through that whole thing screaming at her about the stupid plane? I mean, c'mon! Push a girl away why dontcha, jack!| #77 Dec 20th 2006, 4:16pm
|
|
spotpcIf I were in Jack's position, I'd be ** at her too. I mean, all he asked for was a little honesty. It's natural to be curious and ask what it's all about. She could have just said "There's something in the case that I want to get back. It's really personal and I'd rather not talk about it." He would have been satisfied with that. But she couldn't even say that. She had to hide everything. I think that's pretty rude when you've asked someone for help. If she wanted to keep it that private, why did she ask for help in the first place?| #78 Dec 21st 2006, 11:22am

flight815surviveryou'd still think he'd understand Kate by now. And she did tell the truth and he screamed at her cos he didn't believe her. He'd feel terrible if he knew the whole story anyway.| #79 Dec 22nd 2006, 2:56pm

spotpcJack is a lot like Tom, isn't he? I had noticed that before but I didn't think it was particularly relevant. Maybe it will come out at some point in the future. Even though Kate probably won't tell him the whole story, she may let him hear just enough for him to get the general picture.| #82 Dec 22nd 2006, 9:31pm

spotpcI don't think that was the reason she was attracted to Jack. In fact, I think that was the reason she pulled away from him. She knew from her experience with Tom that someone like him was too good for her. She didn't want to do to Jack what she did to Tom. She knew how much that would hurt.| #84 Dec 29th 2006, 7:06am

hobbits on the islandI just wanted to say that I'm fine with Skate, as long as you have an actual reason. I'm sick of talking to teenage Skaters who say, "Ugh Kate can't be with Jack he's annoying and bossy and I hate crew cuts!!" And when you confront them about Sawyer's shortcomings they just get misty-eyed and say, "Oh but he's had such a hard life and Kate can, like, help him change his ways." I'm a proud Sjater and I say Jack has just as much right to change as Sawyer!...and don't base ur decision over a bloody haircut! Jack would look silly in long hair anyway. Yah this is one of those replys that has nothing to do with the current topic so just continue ur conversation...| #85 Jan 07th 2007, 6:49pm

spotpcHis hair is pretty freaky, isn't it? But it's not necessarily true about him looking silly with long hair. When he was on Party of Five, he wore his hair long and he looked cool. Of course, he's older now so it might be different. I'm sure there's a screenshot somewhere online of him with long hair so you can judge for yourself.| #88 Jan 08th 2007, 12:15pm

spotpcIn the season 1 special features, Jimmy Kimmel asked Matt Fox about his hair on the show and he said that it was one of the mysteries of the island. Maybe they'll show a flashback revealing that he actually has had a haircut while he's been on the island. LOL| #90 Jan 13th 2007, 8:31am

doctorlitOriginally, I assumed it was going to end up Jack/Kate, because I'm so used to "good guy gets the girl." I din't like Sawyer back then at all, but now that the Others are such a driving force in the show, he no longer fills as much of the "villain" role that he used to. And while I was shocked at first, now I do see that Sawyer is a better match for Kate than Jack. They can't separate Jack and Kate too much though, because I still think they're the driving main characters.| #91 Jan 18th 2007, 9:30pm

flight815surviverI was certain it was going to be Jack and Kate until confidence man. Sawyer was just cocky and annoying I only began to notice him as one of the main main chracters after he set off the rocket. Apart from that the only thing that intrested me about him was "made this birthday wish 4 yrs ago" But now we need Sawyer to survive just because he's Sawyer for gods sake BUt yea I guess we have to keep jack around.| #92 Jan 21st 2007, 1:12pm

hellishlygoodI have never ever been a Jater. I have always disliked how condecending Jack is towards Kate and how he can't deal with her past. I was a HUGE SKATER throughout season 2 and season 3. I loved how they both had shady pasts and how they both trusted each other to accept their pasts. They have so much sexual tension between them and they can actually have a good time together whilst Jack is a moody 'good boy'. HOWEVER, in season 1, Kate was SO HORRIBLE to Sawyer. I know most people say Sawyer was a jackass, but really he did NOTHING wrong. People just kept on blaming him for stuff (e.g. taking the water and the inhalers) when he had done nothing! If people had accused Jack of this, he would of got in a big huff and not spoken to anyone for days, but Sawyer just took it in his stride and rose above it all. He was ALWAYS friendly to Kate and she was DISGUSTING to him. She looked down on him when she had no right. In the episode where Jack was trapped in the cave with charlie, sawyer RAN to Kate to tell her straight away and she just was flat out rude to him. DESPITE her rudeness and ignoring, he persisted and tried to tell her but she would not let him. When he finally managed to tell her, she slapped him for not telling her fast enough! where is the justice in that?!! | #94 Aug 26th 2007, 4:25pm

|
flight815surviverOk I'm mostly on your side but in her defense he wasn't exactly very nice about Jack being trapped. He could've told her a lot sooner but he was ** off at her for being rude. Considering the only doctor was trapped and dying he really should've just told her anyway. Though your totally right that he handeled all the accusations way better than Jack. If they'd switched places and Kate had been mean to Jack poor Sawyer woulda never got outta that cave :(. | #95 Aug 27th 2007, 7:16am

Golden-Black DragonEven though I'm not a Jater I've always thought that Jack was always in need of a "project", and he sees that in Kate, just as, I'd imagine, that Kate sees that(but to a lesser extent) in Sawyer. The difference is that Jack, according to his ex-wife in one flashback, he "Always needs something to fix", while Kate and Sawyer are both "damaged goods" and need to fix eachother. | #96 Dec 28th 2008, 12:06pm
