Topic: What is your favourite verse?
Just thought it would be interesting to know.

My favourite is 1 Corinthians 13:4-6. The whole chapter is good but this is my favourite because as God is love, this verse is describing Him.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

My favorite verse is definately John 15:13.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that he may lay his life down for his friends."

My fave verse is hands down... James 2:1-26

James made a good point here, looking to the cross is salvation, but works are your proof to men... that which sets you apart from the heathen. And a great way to give hope to those who struggle, by that giving opportunity to minister and win souls for Christ.

Just my opinion... MGW

"while we were yet sinners Christ died for us"

I don't remember the reference, New Testament obviously, in a letter I think.

For me, and probably any believer, it is so incomprehensible that God would send his only Son to die for the sins of all people, even those who will never believe in him. Not only that, but NONE of us are good enough to go to Heaven, it's only through his gift that we are able to be saved. And that if we believe we will spend eternity with him, and be higher than the angels, we'll be sons and daughters of God. It's so incredible.

"Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?

Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment.

And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets."

I do not have a "favorite" Bible verse but I thought I would offer that one... because in a way it just really says... everything.

That's so true, Sechuai.

Beautiful verses, everyone.

I've always had particular appreciation for the beautitudes from the Sermon on the Mount:

"And opening his mouth, he taught them, saying:

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for My sake: Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven."

I don't know about y'all, but this verse here didn't just pop out at me, it just about nearly erupted in my spirit and mind and soul and body all at once.

Ephesians 6

10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

It was especially verse 13...I love to read it...I am excited! Remember, to watch so that He does not surprise you as a thief in the night. Watch.

I know there's a verse somewhere that talks about being Fatherless I don't know where it is but is there any more like that too? I really need verses about being Fatherless.

Yesterday I was just reading around in my Bible at random... I opened it on the page with Psalm #8... I'm telling ya: It was like my eyes froze to the paper!

Can't you just go look it up yourself? My English isn't that good... so... I'm afraid my translation would be... kinda lousy... and... I somehow don't think you'd get that much out of it if I just wrote the Danish version...
