Scarred Sword HeartTopic: Both Kenshin needed both women in his life at the different stages he was at when he met them. Tomoe was the one who helped Battousai to regain his lost humanity and sanity and then with her death, taught him what he was destroying every time he killed someone. Kaoru took in a lonely soul and helped him to connect with and trust others again. So to me, both are needed. |

RedHairRurouniFanI do agree with that. It's true that Kenshin needed someone that could be his sheath in the Bakumatsu. But, in Meiji someone like that might be somewhat sufforcating for Kenhsin. He needed someone with a sunny outlook on life and someone who could heal his wounds. He lives for peace now and Tomoe's personality may have been too much in Meiji. I do agree that both women were needed. |

lil bugababyYup Yup! I think Tomoe was more of a companion for Kenshin during the war, I think Kenshin needed her to help control himself against the bloodlust of the revolution. But in the Meiji era, Kenshin has Kaoru; she obviously doesnt really care about his past (if she did they could never have a relationship that truly mattered) and she is why Kenshin settles down despite his inner demons, I think she even helped him cope with his past... |
