FanlessTopic: Re-using OCs Does anyone know if it would be acceptable to use OCs originally created for fanfics in original works (e.g. webcomics, FictionPress stories, novels)? |

DarkSideof-Nothing-o_O'''Er....Probably not....Well, actually, I guess nobody would know, really. It depends on where you got the OC from. If it's from your own fanfictions, of course it's alright, considering it was yours to begin with. If it was somebody else's, it would probably be a better idea to ask if you could use the character later, before you've got some rabid author trying to kill you because you stole their character. In that case, I'll be at your funeral, and I'll give you pretty flowers. Just saying, if you take an OC from another person's fanfic, I think that would be considered plagarism, or at least infringement of the copyright law (it says that you can't take credit for another person's work, both unpublished and published...if I remember right..), though I doubt anybody would do that...o_O Sheesh..I did a long-winded explaination. Go me! |

FanlessThanks for the offer of pretty flowers. ^^ I would never dream of using another author's character, without permission or not, so that doesn't really apply to my situation, but thanks for the info and advice! |

Rasberry ParfaitYeah, I've done that a couple times. They were my OC's to begin with-DarkSideof-Nothing already covered that, though. Just making sure nobody thinks I'm a plagiarist. I guess anything I say at this point would be redundant. On another note, I gotta say that I love your avatar. |
