"Ah, but he is."/ Near was determined to find Batman. Batman, on the other hand, was just as determined not to be found.

"It also has a vigilante who believes he can take the law into his own hands."

Bruce eyed the teenage boy dwarfed by the too-large leather chair he sat in, one knew drawn to his chest. He was deathly pale, and black eyes started out at Bruce from under too-white hair and (he could swear he was staring into his soul) really, he was just a child.

"You are.... L? The L?" He didn't believe it, as he offered a mint.

"That is correct. You are Mr. Bruce Wayne. The Commissioner informed me you'd volunteered your home to my during my time in Gotham."

"I was expecting someone a bit-"

"Older? I assure you, I am L."

He frowned a bit behind his folded hands. "Well, I see no reason for you to lie about being L. If you weren't really L, you wouldn't be here now, after all. I hear L doesn't take kindly to impostors."

"Yes."

"Then, why are you here? Gordon didn't tell me."

"I am here," he began, snapping the head off his robot. "To catch Batman."

Bruce stared. "Pardon?"

"Batman. He is a man taking justice into his own hands, and it is not acceptable. He is a criminal and that it has gone on for so long reflects badly on your law enforcement. One man can not hand out justice on a whim. Kira was proof of this."

"You can hardly compare Batman to-"

"The only difference between Kira and Batman is that Kira was a murderer. Beyond that, Mr. Wayne, they are exactly the same."

"Ah, but he is."

Bruce frowned. "And you? You are one man, handing out justice on a whim."

Near shrugged a shoulder. "No, Mr. Wayne. My work is to apprehend based on evidence and facts. I do not judge, I leave that to the courts." A pause, then a small smile. "Besides, I am not a a man. I am a letter. I am L."

"Batman.... Is interesting," Near said suddenly from the floor where he was surrounded by papers. Bruce looked up from his paper.

"Oh?"

"Yes. He comes and goes rather quickly."

"Ah?"

"Yes... I believe he was inspired to be a vigilante after after a traumatic event. Likely experienced as a child. Possibly death of someone he knew or cared for, in a robbery or other violent crime. It would be logical."

"I see. He watched Near for a moment, before turning back to his paper. Near ignored him, quietly.

Wow... its a tradition where I live that we all costume up and walk around campus... I saw some very interesting ones. Blues Brothers, Mario and Co, "I'm on a boat"... lol

Well... he looked like a boat xD It was a very cool looking boat, and it was around him by straps on his shoulders... He had a suit and hat kinda like T-Pain's on the video... it was pretty awesome :D :D

That is so cool! At my school, a bunch of my teachers dressed up as the seasons. One woman was fall and the other two men were summer and winter. The other female teacher was supposed to be spring but she missed the e-mail. It was so cool. The fall teacher had leaves all over her, even some in her hair! She wore green/orange/yellow colours and she also had a brown cane. The summer teacher had a hawaiian shirt, shorts, sandals, sunglasses, and red sunburn with white sunscreen on his nose. The winter teacher had a white hat, white fake dreads, a white suit, white shoes and a metal cane. He also had white face make-up on. -squee-

Ahh the seasons is such a good idea for a group costume!!!!!
