imjlotherealoneTopic: Famous authors who might've been trolls My memory isn't particularly good, even if I'm only 16, but here's a few author's whose seriousness in literature I seriously doubt. I'm not dissing any of these authors; in fact, I try my best to emulate them. I spend my off days as a troll. 1. Lewis Carroll - Random questions, completely fabricated words (snark, boogum, and jabberwocky??), stories that feel like they came straight from an LSD trip. I mean, his work is even technically classified under literary nonsense. I applaud him for managing to make so much money off of complete bullcrap. And a bit of rhyming and rhythm skill. 2. Doc Freud himself - Pretty much everything is caused by sexual desires, which sounds like your typical 4chantard, except this guy has a doctorate to back it up. I can just imagine him laughing his ** off as a bunch of poor kids who were simply afraid of horses ended up being sent away after being diagnosed with an Oedipal complex. 3. D.H. Lawrence - ** is his favorite word, and his second is **. Both are usually used to connotate coitus in his case. Judge for yourself; myself, I can't really find much real profound material in his works. Not because I don't realize their themes; their themes just aren't that awesome. 4. Charles Baudelaire - Sex again. His work is admittedly thoughtful and often profound, but usually phrased in a way to shock people, somewhat like Rimbaud. Definetely troll behavior. Think of more! |

Elliot PoleI hate to forewarn you like this, but the first response to your topic won't come till nine months after you wrote it. Your sister could get pregnant and give birth by that time. I disagree about D.H. Lawrence. I doubt you have read "The Rainbow." Go do so. Now. It is a phenomenal work. You may be right about Lewis Carroll, but listen here. When he was teaching math at Whatever University, he told people not to call him "Lewis Carroll." He did not want to be associated with that "silly children's book" he wrote. Thus, he tried to write a lot of academic stuff to keep people from thinking of him as a troll writer. (He also took pictures of little unclad girls. Unfortunately only four survive to this day.) | #2 Oct 30th 2008, 10:03am | |
