sasuXnaru..who the hell likes this paring - Hated Naruto Pairings Forum

Disclaimer: I dislike SasuNaru intensely.

It's not cracky, though. Naruto and Sasuke have a long history with each other. Naruto obviously cares a lot about Sasuke. If he didn't, he wouldn't be genuinely concerned about Sasuke, after all the git has done. And Naruto does mean something to Sasuke, though Sasuke chose revenge and Itachi over Naruto.

I personally don't support the pairing (I think Naruto deserves someone nicer than Sasuke. Like Shikamaru. Or Ino.), but I can definitely see the buttloads of subtext the pairing has going for it. Therefore, it wouldn't really be defined as crack. ^_^

Yeah, SasuNaru isn't crack :D It has a loooot of subtext, but if people truly believe that it will happen in canon, I'd have to STRONGLY disagree. Especially since they've called each other brother on more than one occasion. And that Naruto likes Sakura. Yeah.

I agree that Naruto needs somebody nicer, haha. Now that I think about it, I don't have an exclusive ONE PERSON thing for Naruto, he could go well with Shikamaru, and INO OMG THAT DOES SOUND GOOD. D: I know this girl who ships them really hard. But not Hinata, lulz. She's toooo nice I think.

I have to agree with Scarlet Pencil.

It's not necessarily crack, but I'm pretty sure it won't happen. Naruto is a shounen manga, and well yeah. Just the way the culture is, SasukexNaruto have 99.8% of not happening. (Man, now Team Seven OT3! XD That's the way it's gotta go! haha, just playing.)

I don't think romantic relationship was ever implied, but they've got history and a relationship, so it's better off than say, Sakon and Ino. (XD Sakon and Ukon! You dirty girl Ino!) They've never even met.

I just like my crack a little wacky then. *snickers*I think people's levels of what they believe is crack is what determines it. This thread is kind of a dead end thing going. xD

(I don't know about SakuIno/ShikaChou, I hate both pairings, ShikaChou just recently actually XD, unless gen!fic or angst!fic is in play. So, I don't want comment about that, I'm biased XD)

Crack, for my standards, are just relationships that seem absolutely improbable..but possible in a way. XD KankIno, NejiIno (which I like.. o.o.). I don't know, just in my opinion NarutoxSasuke isn't as cracky as others, is how I should put it then XD.

You like Neji/Ino? That's actually my all-time favorite pairing. That's cool. It's just too bad there aren't too many fics from what I've seen.

*shrugs* I've always defined crack as pairings in which the characters never interacted in the series, or were really, really unlikely to happen even though they did interact. So, Shino/Ino would be crack since they've never talked (as far as I can remember), and Sasori/Sakura would also be crack, because although they did interact, Sakura kind of kicked his ** and killed him. XP Under that definition, SasuNaru would not be crack, because they have a long history of interacting together. Unlikely as far as canon? Sure. But not crack. ^_^

Yeah, I agree :D I think if SasuNaru would happen in canon, I'd be extremely upset, mostly because it'd be a bit out of character for them I guess. I mean, I like the pairing fanon and everything, but I honestly think their mindset (IE your my brother stuff) would basically be disregarded, which is dumb.

Then again, Kishimoto does like his yaoi (such as the Sai/Sasuke yaoi fantasy, the SasuNaru kiss, SasuKishi being canon)

ITASUISAI does look very, very pretty :D I wonder how it'd work, it'd definitely be interesting. I'd rather see more yaoi fangasm jutsus rather than what's happening now. Although the manga is shaping up a bit (Badass Tobi/Madara anyone?) so maybe not all is lost.

I can see why people ship SasuNaru because of, as you mentioned, their history together, but I've never been able to get the pairing myself. XD Like you, I find them to have a brotherly relationship, not a lovers relationship. It just totally depends on how you read their interaction, I guess. But in general, I find the SasuNaru fandom to be riddled with OoC and cliches, so I stay away as a matter of principle. ^^

And it gets on my nerves when they butcher Naruto's character and make him a weak uke.

Although I don't like them together I read them sometimes if they're a side pairing.

Naruke looks better than Sasuke. Not the butchered ones either...

But NaruSasu does make more sense. Still, to ease meh appetite, I'd go for SasuNaruSasu. It's not crack. There are alot of hints of yaoi in the shonen ai thing.

And the brotherly love...yeah, doesn't really suit me. Sure, Naruto thinks it's a brother bond, but the 'what ifs' in fanon makes it more than that.

And I am an insinuator, so I like that pairing.

ItaSaiSui, sounds like a sexy OT3 XD.

I think it's kind of ironic that you say you'll never read yaoi, yet your icon is Haku...who was, well, very obviously smitten with a man.

I love SasuNaru/NaruSasu because it could be proven that they're one of the only canon couples in Naruto. It has much more evidence than any other pairing I've seen yet.

Not necessarily. That's exactly what subtext is, though; to go all philosophical on you, what is subtext if it doesn't hold a deeper meaning? (Especially with Naruto, where one of the key themes is 'looking underneath the underneath'.)

I think Kishimoto, being a huge SasuNaru fan, put all he could into Naruto without explicitly stating it. It, in my opinion, means so much more that way.

Subtext is romantic feelings that have some backing in the canon, but it still isn't canon. It doesn't matter how much they hang over each other in the manga, until there is a spoken confession or some other confirmation of the relationship, the relationship isn't canon. I mean, some pairings, like SasuNaru, may have bunches of subtext to play with, but that doesn't make it any more canon than say, GaaNaru is. ^^

Kishimoto does have a habit of catering to his most rabid fanbase. *the SasuSai scene, for example* XD

Confirmation of SasuNaru = half the series. I mean, I've seen no rule that says for a relationship to be real it has to be said in words that there is something. Maybe you are interpreting what I say to mean that "offscreen [offpage :P]" there is something going on romantically between Naruto and Sasuke...? No. I believe what we see in the manga and anime is the only evidence we get to work with fairly.

Which brings me to my first point: what Sasuke and Naruto have isn't the typical anime fall-in-love story. What they have is much deeper and much more realistic. You and I, I believe, agree up until the point where it turns romantic in nature. You think it's very deep friendship (correct me if I'm wrong), but I think that's how they pass it off because neither, really, knows what love feels like.

See: Sasuke saving Naruto's life countless times, Naruto turning Kyuubi pretty much only for Sasuke, Naruto making some less-than-straight comments about Sasuke's looks, their equality, etc. There are a lot of quotes, too, that demonstrate my point.

I like to think, though, that I'm less of a rabid fangirl and, well, smarter. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the SasuSai scene...

Ah, I see what you're saying then. :) I agree, they definitely do care deeply for each other. After all, their friendship is the driving force of the series, really. ^^ And I agree that it comes down to interpretation. I personally believe that they have a deep friendship, but not a romantic relationship. But I definitely see what you mean. ^^

As for GaaNaru being onesided... I can see subtext for Gaara liking Naruto, definitely. However, there is some text for Naruto liking Gaara, such as how adamant he was about saving Gaara. (Haha, the whole rescue Gaara arc was very GaaNaru-ish. XD) Then again, that could just be Naruto's general slashability. Because Naruto goes with everyone that breathes in the series, practically. XD *is partial to ShikaNaru, personally*

I used to see see SasuNaru as romantic but when they refered to themselves as brothers (and Naruto still thinks like that, in regards to the recent chapter where he said to Itachi I am a better brother or something) I think that it kind of botched it so I can't say I think their relationship is romantic at all.

If this was pre-brotherhood comments, I'd probably agree with you Gerad :D

See, the brothers thing doesn't really throw me off. Like I stated before, fisah, neither have really felt anything deeply romantic for another person...ever. Naruto liking Sakura doesn't count because that is more of a crush than anything and that, even, evolves into brotherly affection as Naruto matures.

Here...I will demonstrate my point with an infalliable and logical graph:

(Lol, the X's have no hidden, sexual meaning.)

With Sasuke and Naruto, though, there are so many feelings and nowhere for them to go. Both don't know what to do with their emotions. So they go with the most logical alternative because the thought of romance never even crossed their minds. (Both had no one there to verse them well in the world of romance.)

Let me point out here that I am not saying Sasuke and Naruto have sexual feelings for each other. In fact, I always argue the opposite point. From what I've seen, there has been no indication of that, but there has been an indication of them being in love. Remember that love doesn't always equal sex.

No, I don't think anything explicitly romantic (as in kissing, hugging, ...sex) will actually happen in Naruto...SasuNaru is way too complicated for that. It's through their actions and some of the things they say that they show it.

And OH MY GOD you're so right about Naruto and his easiness. Naruto, you **.

Reminds me of Ed from FMA--he's able to be paired with anyone, too.

I understand where you are coming from, but I have a hard time believing that Kishimoto would make that complex and true. I get what you mean about sexual attraction =/= love, but how about Naruto's obvious attraction to females? And how about Sasuke? I mean, with Naruto, you could get why he would go to that route, but I'd expect Sasuke would no the difference between brother and romantic love, you know?

I think Sasuke could tell the difference at least, that's why I find it a bit hard to believe.

LOL, I pair Naruto with practically everybody. ED is like that too, I practically like all pairings for him 0.o

Sasuke is the complete difference, I like him wiht Sakura, Naruto and Itachi D
