SASUKE'S PENIS IS ANGRY.lol. Meanwhile, I'll be over here enjoying my fandom. (: |
Moola DeenaI see. And of course you have nothing better to do than to complain about it in a forum that's been quiet for ages. If you don't like it - don't read it. Simple as that. Personally, I detest m-preg, so I simply don't read it. Much better than pestering the ones who actually do like it with pointless complaints. It's not as if people are going to stop writing, reading and liking it just because I don't. |
Integrated Data Thought Entityi missed these retards. |
Dreary SomebodyThat gal is starting to ** me off. Sigh. I find it hard to be snarky at 11 pm. DD; |
Battleship NagatoYeah, I can see why. ): Need help~? :D? |
Dreary SomebodyAAAWR you're amazing~ We'll see, she hasn't replied to anything yet. x) |
Battleship ArashiNo I do not have a million alts why would you say that. Not really. I just have fun because people like this are amusing. :D |
counter-intuitiveThere are some really stupid yaoi pairings, I admit that... but the same goes for het ones. It just annoys me when people go: "Yaoi is creepy, it's wrong" etc because love is love -.- and sometimes a boyxboy pairing seems feasible because of the way the characters' feelings for each other are portrayed. |
Moola DeenaOf course there are stupid pairings, but that doesn't really bother me in the least. It seems people have the tendency to forget that this is fanfiction. Who cares if Iruka and Kushina together are non-canon or not? If people like the pairing, then they like the pairing. The same naturally goes for yuri and yaoi pairings that are unlikely to happen. I like yaoi, but I don't really expect it to ever become canon. What does those two things have to do with each other anyway? If someone wants to write a finfic in the Narutoverse with an unlikely pairing, then they just twist the story a little so that it fits. No worries! xD Basically; I agree with counter. Pairings don't get popular because of how likely they are to happen. They are liked because of how the characters interact with each other (or, in some cases, how the author speculate that they would've interacted with each other if they ever met). |
Mare HiemisThe only stupid pairing is one with no chemistry and one that is written badly. |
Dreary SomebodyWho cares if Iruka and Kushina together are non-canon or not? Er. Well. Kushina (probably) died when he was just a kid. ...And yet I still can't stop speculating. DD; |
Mare HiemisThat doesn't mean they didn't know each other before that. Or that she wasn't into that stuff. |
Dreary Somebody... Ew. :D |
Mare HiemisWas what I said unsettling? I didn't think it was. |
edvykoiI agree so far their opinions are discriminate and not really any good points on why they dislike it such as describing how the characters react with each other |
edvykoii agree with you actually based on some i read to me the sasunaru seem more well written and even believable than the sasusaku naruhina and sakunaru stories also i'm not saying the sasunaru will happen but i dnt feel sasusaku will happen because honestly he doesn't what so ever show any romantic feelings for her |
edvykoiI agree one pairing ppl seem to like that don't make sense is the Sasuke and Sakura pairing. LIKE HONESTLY THERE IS NO ROMANCE OR HIM LIKING HER WHAT SO EVER |
KittyCatOmaniacWell, the main reason for a pairing idea to appear in the minds of fans is when one of the characters show an obvious interest of love for the other. Considering how oh so deeply in wuv Sakura appeared to be during the first half of the series, it's no wonder SasuSaku became popular, the same goes for NaruHina. |
edvykoiOverall I think people are entitled to their opinion. They are intitled to pair whoever they want. But to bash a pairing or yaoi pairing is stupid. I enjoy both straight and gay pairings. They are both okay. Love shouldn't be a thing based on gender but emotions one feel for each other. For people to say horrible things about gay pairing to me is sick. It's not you so why should you care? To me alot of the people who bash gay pairings are hypocrites when they say oh I have nothing against gay people I just don't like to see that, I hate reading about it and i detest them like ARE YOU SERIOUS? Think about this what if they made Naruto and Sasuke a canon, are you all going to stop reading Naruto because that? If you do then you might as well call yourselves the biggest hypoocrites ever. Like your entitled to you opinions but atleast be respectful about it, don't bash something. Also about there no good yaoi stories and that the all oc and horrible writing thing: I seen het fic that were so horrible it burned my eyes out! I agree, i dislike slash fics that is all sex and fluffyness and stuff, but I read dozens of slash fics that were good and even better and more original than the het fics which all tend to be the same. But overall people stop being closed minded. It's sad how people in society can't accept different things. |
edvykoiI agree I am just saying. I have nothing against any pairing as long as it's believable |
KittyCatOmaniacIt's different to support homosexuality and enjoy reading explicit or semi-explicit stories or manga about it. There is nothing hypocritical about some people being likely to stop reading Naruto if Kishimoto made SasuNaru cannon because Naruto is primarily a shounen manga which caters to males. And really, if you can't support homosexuality because you don't like reading stories about gay pairings then that would mean that you can't like cats because you're allergic. I'm an open homosexual so I mainly read yuri fics but sometimes I find myself reading a het or a yaoi fic if the concept is good. Still, if I find it to be full of fluff then I will most likely stop reading it at once. Personally, I just find the thought of two boys doing the dirty mildly disgusting, but that's just because I have absolutely no attraction to males. I've grown up around the concept of heterosexuality so I'm very much used to the idea of male/female relationships and so I can read het-fics if they're interesting enough, so long as they don't become explicit. I'm pretty sure 99.9% of all the straight girls here refuse to read yuri-fics with even semi-explicit sex. The real hypocrites here are the fangirls who whine at people who don't like yaoi whereas they themselves have not so much as 'read' a yuri fic. |
Dreary SomebodyBeing straight, I'm not entirely into yuri, because, yes, I don't find it the most appealing subject. But I do not and never will go around screaming "ZOMG GIRL ON GIRL SEXORZ IN MY FANDOM SICK WRONG EW!", because THAT is where everything goes to hell in a hand basket. I don't care whether someone dislikes yaoi; I care when they start making an enormous deal out of it, insulting yaoi authors, and yelling at FFN for a function to filter out yaoi--when they make their aversion anyone else's problem but their own. |
edvykoiwow havent thought of it that way. I do also find it hypocritical ti say you like yuri or yaoi and you never read a manga that like that. I basically said what i said because in the beginning of forum it seem people were bashing it and making it as a sin of nature |
KittyCatOmaniacHey, a filter could be useful! That way, people who like yaoi but hate het could filter out the ones they don't like so it works both ways anyhow. This is actually one of the easy so-called 'problems' to solve. It's a whole other thing to make a filter to get rid of all the badfics out there though because...well, everyone has their own opinion of what a badfic is. Shame really. Other than that...yep, people yelling about how much they hate yaoi/yuri/het can be pretty darn annoying but if you look at it from another perspective...why, it would mean that people yelling about their love for yaoi/yuri/het would be just as annoying xD That said, the best way to solve all of these problems would be for everyone to just shut up about what they love/hate but we all know that's never going to happen. This is the internet so we will all forever rage about what we love and what we hate...like mustard. Gosh, I hate mustard. |
Maria ImbriumI'm straight, but I prefer yuri to any other pairing. I have no problem with either, but for some reason, yuri is my favourite. Maybe it's to do with the stupid harem shows I watch just because I like one character. There are communities which filter out any kind of homosexual relationship, communities that focus on yuri, communities that focus on yaoi... They're already filters of a kind. Nobody is stapling your eyes open and forcing you to read the stories about yaoi or yuri, so a filter really isn't necessary. If anything, homosexual relationships are not story genres. It would be insulting to be scrolling down the genre list and seeing, "horror" "romance" yaoi" "yuri", because that's kind of saying that yaoi and yuri aren't romance. Even though it is, it's homosexual romance. |
KittyCatOmaniacI agree that it isn't necessary, but it would still be helpfull. After all, if I were out to read only yuri fics, even if I went to check out different communities which gather only yuri stories, it's not like one community holds all of them. I'm merely pointing out the convenience. And no, stories focusing on homosexual love isn't exactly a genre in the mainstream sectors but when you walk the path of fandom, it more or less turns into a sub-genre. Just like some people only read horror-stories, others won't read a story unless it contains yaoi. Personally, I don't find it insulting to view yuri and yaoi as genres but that's probably because I'm a realist. I know that homosexuality isn't widely accepted and that the majority still won't accept it as normal. Hell, half of the earth's human population would have to be either gay or bi for all the heterosexuals to accept us as normal. The thing is that wether they view it as something positive or something negative, fanfic-writers put yuri and yaoi as sub-genres wether they admit it or not. If homosexual romance wasn't a sub-genre, that would mean that it would make no difference whatsoever whether you read a story about a heterosexual couple or a gay couple, and yet here we have people who refuse to read anything but boy-love or girl-love. It's not a question of fairness, respect or morality here, it's a matter of facts and preferences. To say that just because it could be considered as a separate genre it wouldn't make it "romance" is a little off, seeing as yaoi and yuri basically means boy-love and girl-love respectively, the naming speaks for itself. If anything, you could say that it makes room for more genre choices! If het, yaoi and yuri automatically qualifies as romance, then that means we could add even more genres to the same story without having to settle for "general"! |
Maria ImbriumNo, they're not. They're sub-catogories of sexuality, along with heterosexuality, but you can't just call all homosexual people a genre. It's not like every single homosexual story has generally the same plot, because it doesn't. It's romance, full stop. It's like saying that all people with black hair are a sub-genre, or all tall people are a sub-genre. Facts do not go together with preference. Preference is personal opinion, which is bias, which contradicts fact. :) |
KittyCatOmaniacActually, I can use your argument against you and say that not all romance or humor stories have generally the same plot. Of course they don't. A genre is something that indicates the mood and/or focus of the story. This is not about people, its about sexuality, just as romance is about love and humor is about comedy and hitting people's funny bone. As I said before; yaoi and yuri is a sub-genre in fandom, not in literature and movies. It's just like how moe doujinshi manga have genres like "loli" simply because of the way the author depicts the characters. Gore has also become a sub-genre in fandoms in the same way. While in mainstream movies and video games it's merely a way to explain that said art will contain a lot of blood and violence, in fandom there are stories which are completely centered around it due to the authors interest in it. And of course facts aren't the same as preferences but they can be put in the same sentance to explain something, like how the fact of human psychology plays a large role in determining the cause of different people's preferences, which is what I was trying to do. I apologize if I put my words together poorly and caused confusion. My linguistic skills seem to be a bit rusty :3 |
Maria ImbriumFacts and preferences do not go with each other. They are contradicting terms. Romance is about love, yeah. So homosexual people can't love? Wow, you're really improving your case! |
SASUKE'S PENIS IS ANGRY.Well, the main reason for a pairing idea to appear in the minds of fans is when one of the characters show an obvious interest of love for the other. Not necessarily. People like chemistry whether the characters have romantic feelings towards each other or not. Why else are tsundere pairings so popular? "THEY ACT LIKE THEY HATE EACHOTHER BUT REALLY IT'S TRUE LOVE!! REALLY!" you can't like cats because you're allergic. My mom won't let us get a cat because most of my family is allergic. She's so cruel. ): but that's just because I have absolutely no attraction to males Me: Not a lesbian. I love yuri. You can't use your personal opinions as excuses for everyone else. I'm pretty sure 99.9% of all the straight girls here refuse to read yuri-fics with even semi-explicit sex. Lol. I'll read anything as long as it's written well. Meaning, good NC-17 yuri fics are fa~bulous. The real hypocrites here are the fangirls who whine at people who don't like yaoi whereas they themselves have not so much as 'read' a yuri fic. The more common situation is guys who think yuri and lesbians are "HOT" but gays and yaoi are disgusting and should be removed. Other than that...yep, people yelling about how much they hate yaoi/yuri/het can be pretty darn annoying but if you look at it from another perspective...why, it would mean that people yelling about their love for yaoi/yuri/het would be just as annoying xD An obsession towards/against anything can be irritating, this is obvious. However, one should not generalize what everyone who likes/hates a certain thing is like just because they've met a few annoying people. I'm merely pointing out the convenience. There's character filters for a reason. Use them and your problem is solved. Or SEARCH for fics with the word 'yuri' in the summary. These things are common sense. Filtering stories is redundant and unnecessary. I don't find it insulting to view yuri and yaoi as genres That doesn't make any sense, however. A genre is "the category in which the plot is placed". Romance gives you a more romantic story, sci-fi gives you a more scientific story, horror gives you more of a terrifying/suspenseful story. So what, is 'yaoi' supposed to give you a gayer story? If homosexual romance wasn't a sub-genre, that would mean that it would make no difference whatsoever whether you read a story about a heterosexual couple or a gay couple, and yet here we have people who refuse to read anything but boy-love or girl-love. There's a difference between a genre and a warning. If you don't want to read a death!fic, that doesn't automatically make death a sub-genre. OCs aren't popular, but that's not a sub-genre. If you like horror stories with guns instead of knives, does that make 'knife' a sub-genre? lol. seeing as yaoi and yuri basically means boy-love and girl-love respectively, the naming speaks for itself. No. BL/shounen-ai means boy love; yaoi is gay sex without plot. The same thing goes with shoujo-ai & yuri. Just because most people generalize it doesn't make your statement true. Are you implying that since I dislike NaruHina, they should make a sub-genre with JUST THAT PAIRING? Because a few people dislike it? Let's get rid of the SasuSaku and SasuNaru fics, while we're at it. I'm not fond of those pairings either. Hm ~ this is a bit of an overkill, isn't it? If het, yaoi and yuri automatically qualifies as romance, Please tell me how many action movies you've seen without a sex or romance scene. I'd like to know. Does that make every action movie a romance, too? No. Romance is the most prominent genre in a story about two people getting together. Please tell me you know at least that much. tl;dr - yaoi is a warning for people who can't handle certain pairings. it's not a genre. use character filters & search for ** and your problem is solved. |
KittyCatOmaniacYou are putting words into my mouth. When in the blazes did I say that homosexual people can't love? I stated the very contrary when I said that yaoi and yuri basically means boy-love and girl-love respectively. In what way could that be made into an argument of anti-same-sex love? Facts and preferences are contradictory to each other, yes, but that does not mean that they cannot be used in the same context to explain something. An example being that it is a fact that the majority of the people liking yaoi are heterosexual females and that the reason behind it is their preference. Please don't go out of your way to misunderstand me and try to understand me instead. |
Maria ImbriumThis is not about people, its about sexuality, just as romance is about love and humor is about comedy and hitting people's funny bone. You think yaoi/yuri should be a genre. Romance is about love. You say it as if yaoi and yuri can't be romance because it's not love and need more filters. lol. |
SASUKE'S PENIS IS ANGRY.An example being that it is a fact that the majority of the people liking yaoi are heterosexual females and that the reason behind it is their preference. Then why is it that most of the people I know like yuri? In fact, most of the people I know in fandom will ship anything as long as it has good chemistry, or the characters work well together. No matter what sexuality it may be. the majority of the people liking yaoi are heterosexual females The majority of the people in fandom are heterosexual females. Of course that would be true. Careful, guys. Now we need sub-genres of every type of humour, so people don't get offended when they're trying to find a hilarious fic. |
Maria ImbriumI call fart jokes. |
SASUKE'S PENIS IS ANGRY.IN FACT, I'm going to go protest at my local move store because they have Will Ferrell movies and Borat in the same section!! Borat is hilarious and Will Ferrell is horrible, so this will offend me until they put the movies into different sections! | #1335 Nov 21st, 7:14am . Edited Nov 21st, 7:15am | |

SASUKE'S PENIS IS ANGRY.You know what. I am so offended that the grocery stores around here have both Reece's Peanut Butter Cups AND Smarties in the same candy section. I hate Smarties! They should put them SOMEWHERE ELSE, because I hate them so much. They're so gross. And you know what else, I've had it with them putting tomato sauce with the other sauces. Tomato sauce makes me disgusted just looking at it! Obviously, they should have a seperate section for that. |
KittyCatOmaniacNot necessarily. People like chemistry whether the characters have romantic feelings towards each other or not. Why else are tsundere pairings so popular? "THEY ACT LIKE THEY HATE EACHOTHER BUT REALLY IT'S TRUE LOVE!! REALLY!" Oh dear, I remember you. Good to debate with you again! At any rate, I said that it was the 'main' reason, not the only reason. Maybe I should have formulated my words better...wait, 'formulated'? Gah, I can't bring myself to remember the correct term! Anyway, perhaps I should have said something along the lines of "When one characters is obviously in love with another character, that is bound to be turned into a common fandom pairing. As such, they're usually the first to get paired up." My mom won't let us get a cat because most of my family is allergic. She's so cruel. ): Yes she is . Every home should house at least one cat! Me: Not a lesbian. I love yuri. You can't use your personal opinions as excuses for everyone else. Lol. I'll read anything as long as it's written well. Meaning, good NC-17 yuri fics are fa~bulous. Bah, it's not about making excuses, it's about using personal experience and anylizations. And really, I'm assuming that you put little to no focus on the sex-scenes in those NC-17 yuri fics...though if you are, I'm guessing that you're either at least a little bit bi or part of the minority. The more common situation is guys who think yuri and lesbians are "HOT" but gays and yaoi are disgusting and should be removed. Very true, but they'll never admit it. That doesn't make my statement untrue though, it just flips the coin and lays the blame on the other gender even though we have people of both genders who like gay pairings because they're "HOT" rather than a genuine interest in homosexual love, I just used fangirls as an example because they're the most vocal ones on the matter....well, as far as I've been able to tell at least . An obsession towards/against anything can be irritating, this is obvious. However, one should not generalize what everyone who likes/hates a certain thing is like just because they've met a few annoying people. To say that I'm generalizing seems to be an attempt to make me look/feel bad. I merely pointed out that people who love something can be just as annoying as people who hate something when they're overly vocal about it. There's character filters for a reason. Use them and your problem is solved. Or SEARCH for fics with the word 'yuri' in the summary. These things are common sense. Filtering stories is redundant and unnecessary. The character filter only works when you're looking for fics with a certain pairing. What if you don't care what characters are in the story as long as it isn't a pairing of that would make it /het/yuri/yaoi depending on your preference? Dnd yes, I can search for fics with the word 'yuri' but very few people put 'het' in their summaries to warn others of the content. It's like I said; homosexuality has not reached it's proper height yet. *sad sigh* That doesn't make any sense, however. A genre is "the category in which the plot is placed". Romance gives you a more romantic story, sci-fi gives you a more scientific story, horror gives you more of a terrifying/suspenseful story. So what, is 'yaoi' supposed to give you a gayer story? I resent that. To me, genres are as much about preferences as it is about the mood and the main focus of the story. Believe it or not, the gender of the characters does make a difference to quite a lot of people, hence why I call it a sub-genre in the same way how doujinshi artists make sub-genres depending on their style and focus. There's a difference between a genre and a warning. If you don't want to read a death!fic, that doesn't automatically make death a sub-genre. OCs aren't popular, but that's not a sub-genre. If you like horror stories with guns instead of knives, does that make 'knife' a sub-genre? lol. Now you're just exaggerating...though a filter against OC's...no, never mind, there are OC's in pretty much every story I read, as long as they aren't the focus of the story I'm fine. Oh, sorry, I was using the Japanese references there, I've been away from internet fandom for so long that I forgot the difference. See, they don't use shoujo-ai or shounen-ai when describing the direction of the story in Japan at all. Over there, they simply use yaoi and yuri while they use ratings when describing just how explicit their work is. And no, I'm not implying anything at all. You're just either misunderstanding me in a way that I can't grasp or you're simply overexaggerating O.o Please tell me how many action movies you've seen without a sex or romance scene. I'd like to know. Does that make every action movie a romance, too? No. Romance is the most prominent genre in a story about two people getting together. Please tell me you know at least that much. Ugh, I'm sad to say I can't think of a single title. I'm getting really tired about seeing all this romance in pretty much every damn movie I watch. But no matter, we're not talking about movies here; we're talking about fandom, which follows different rules on the matter. True, pretty much every damn action movie pumped out of Hollywood's womb has some semblance of romance, but that romance doesn't come in the format of a genre. Romance in a fanfic, however, does, because the author puts focus on it. The romance in action movies barely even qualify as romance, at most, it's fan-service for the people who believe that everything should have love. tl;dr - yaoi is a warning for people who can't handle certain pairings. it's not a genre. use character filters & search for ** and your problem is solved. Oh, trust me, I search for what I want, I'm merely pointing out that a filter isn't entirely unreasonable :) After all, if we can filter for characters, length, genres and dates, we might as well be able to filter for certain fandom sub-genres. I'm not talking about sub-genres for specific fandoms, but for fandoms in general which is what I was talking about when I described yuri/het/yaoi as sub-genres. |

SASUKE'S PENIS IS ANGRY.Oh dear, I remember you. Good to debate with you again! I remember you too, haha. Same. "When one characters is obviously in love with another character, that is bound to be turned into a common fandom pairing. As such, they're usually the first to get paired up." That's very true, but I've found it's just as common with the "hate eachother = love" route, especially in fandoms without a 'major' one-sided pairing. Bah, it's not about making excuses, it's about using personal experience and anylizations. And really, I'm assuming that you put little to no focus on the sex-scenes in those NC-17 yuri fics...though if you are, I'm guessing that you're either at least a little bit bi or part of the minority. I'm the type of person who doesn't really care about sexual preference, I guess you could say. I've only been attracted to guys, but I'm not against the idea of women, if I ever find one that I like 'more than a friend' [however unlikely that is]. I'm not bisexual because I've never felt anything other than admiration/whatever towards women, and I guess that does reflect on my perspective of different pairings, because I am so indifferent about it all. I am way too laidback to care or worry about mostly anything. Haha. I really don't read any fic for the sex, I read it for the quality and character interaction. :') Very true, but they'll never admit it. It is more common and likely in guys, since girls are generally open about complimenting eachother and being emotional. Guys will rarely compliment eachother, because they have a larger fear of being seen as "gay" than girls do. They'll hug eachother less, show less emotion, etc. It's just how they think they're "supposed" to act, and that extends to disliking people who are gay. This is just what I've noticed, though, and of course some girls are the same in hating yuri. I just find it's a lot less apparent. To say that I'm generalizing seems to be an attempt to make me look/feel bad. I merely pointed out that people who love something can be just as annoying as people who hate something when they're overly vocal about it. Really, it was just an off-handed comment on something that bothers me, which could apply to anyone. Obsessions are never good, but I don't think debates are just as horrible. *sad sigh* That's because of said people who are against such things, it doesn't neccessarily make it a genre. Warnings are in place when it's about something that isn't "the norm", so people won't be offended if it suddenly comes up. M-Preg, OCs, AUs, Religion. If you don't make it clear, you're at a higher chance of being flamed for "false advertisement". Almost all of the romance fics in general clearly state what pairing it is in the summary [or in the character options]. I don't think that's true. There are already character filters, and I've never spontaneously felt like "I want to read a yuri/yaoi/het story", I'm more inclined to say "I want to read a Shinjiro/Akihiko fic". I don't put as much into the preferences, because it doesn't matter to me, and it shouldn't matter. Again, that's more the generalize point. Every pairing has different dynamics and reasoning, so I feel that's more important than "all yaoi fics go here". It doesn't get rid of the badfics, it doesn't get rid of the yaoi pairings I dislike. It's basically just a crutch for those who can't handle seeing a pairing type they dislike, when they should just get used to it. You're never going to get away from yaoi on the internet, no matter how much you hate it. Changing one fanfiction site will not help them or better prepare them when they start talking in forums or looking for fanart. It's just unnecessary. I always overexaggerate. It falls under the same idea. Yaoi in a romance fic isn't something that makes a huge difference. People only make it a big deal when they dislike it, but shouldn't that fall under the same category as me hating NaruHina? They won't make a section especially for the people who hate a certain pairing, so I don't see why they would make a section just for the people who hate a certain type. | #1344 Nov 21st, 8:28am . SASUKE'S PENIS IS ANGRY.Haha, thank you! It really doesn't make sense to me, since it seems pretty redundant. YES YES, ERIKA MCHAMPERSON. I ALSO THINK OVECHKIN IS THE BEST HOCKEY PLAYER EVER. He's not the best Russian though, because that would be Pasha Kovalev. |
