WolfWingIn all fairness, by that point in Molmol, Motoko has already:1) confessed her love to Keitaro 2) It was implied she has been asking for his help to study for the entrance exam (to monopolize his time away from Naru) 3) Teamed up with Kanako, Shinobu, Kitsune, and Su to try to keep Keitaro and Naru from going to Tokyo U 'Together' (they had yet to actually walk onto campus together. First Keitaro breaks his leg (and Naru was already there), then he studies his 2nd semester abroad. He has yet to actually go to any Classes at Tokyo U by Vol 13. So ... the 5 girls try to 'mug' keitaro and naru if they don't turn back. (This leads to Keitaro being saved by Seta, in a plane, flying off with Keitaro while being chased by Molmol's airships) 4) Left Naru behind when her and all the other girls storm the airport, attempt to bring back Keitaro, because the first one to do so marries him (by agreement among the girls, minus Naru). This is because Granny Hina left a faq that says She'll give Keitaro EVERYTHING, the Hinata inn, the lands around it, etc if he has a fiancee and gets married soon. Naru had to find her own way to Molmol, going with Haruka I beleive. 5) Finally, chased Keitaro, fought him to keep him away from Naru, etc etc. So, yes, in the end none of the girls could bring themselve to get in the way of Naru and Keitaro. For no other reason, because they knew how long he's liked her. But also cause Naru is their friend and couldn't do that to her. But seeing what Motoko has done so far, maybe trying to keep Keitaro for herself can be made beleivable. A spur of the moment, acting on impulse, kind of whim. She'd may regret it later, and like in the manga, Seta and Haruka gets married and not Keitaro and (in this case Motoko but Naru originally). After the impulsive action, and time to think, she'd feel guilty, and yeah, it would probably start a hinata harem war, and what not. But I can see it being doable ... if the author writes what she is thinking at that time ... well feeling more then thinking, and make it an impulsive act, not a pre-meditated or thought out act. Kinda like, so shock Keitaro picked her (in his defense, he was so confused at the time, I don't think he was thinking much at all, otherwise he'd go straight to Naru. perhaps???) that her fantasy runs away with her and she runs off with him. Something like that, I'd beleive. She does know what she was trying to do up to this point, not only proven by the confrontation on the airship but also she laters says to Naru (who was upset cause she wasn't sure she was the promise girl and Keitaro got invited to an important archeology job on pararakelse but he does not know that yet and Naru has his letter of invite), to calm her down cause she seems depressed, something like "I'm not trying to steal Keitaro away from you anymore" ... so she knows what she was doing, she obviously was hoping at one point to steal him away, so her stealing Keitaro at the point in question may not be so far off after all. Anyhow, sorry for the long meandering post. Hope it helps, to at least encourage you to write =) As for a Keitaro, Motoko, Tsuroko love triange ... Tsuroko is married and has not shown much in the way of attraction to Keitaro (beyond being more lively and teasing then Motoko but I think she is probably like that to everyone, plus she was written that way for the humor factor hehe). So it is more of a stretch to get Tsuroko involved than it is for Motoko. Though I have read a good number of good fics that pairs Tsuroko and Keitaro, so it can be done. If ya really want to kill Naru off to make Keitaro available, an idea I had kicking around my head is: I'll skip my initial set-ups and why the girls are doing this. And I won't say what I happens to Naru, other then she is not involved. I'll just say the basic premise, this gives you more flexibility to write the surrounding story as you like. While I did not plan on including Tsuroko or Haruka, etc, you can throw as many girls as you like. The idea stems from reading many fics where 1 person (well their mind) goes back in time, sometimes the 2 people paired, to have a second chance at winning some guy they lost. My idea is, everyone but Naru (the girl who won Keitaro the first time around), goes back in time and they all compete for Keitaro's affection. Yep, they arrive the day of, and just before, Keitaro first comes to Hinata. Who walks in on him this time around? Do the girls distract Naru away from the hot springs while one of them sneaks Keitaro out? What does she do when all of the girls, even Motoko, wants him around and treats him nicely? Mutsumi and Kanako move in early, so now they have arrived after only a week or two. I always figured that had Keitaro met Mutsumi early on, she'd have a much better chance. When they did meet after Keitaro fails the entrance exam, he had already been studying with Naru for about three months and even thought Naru was the promise girl because of the diary incident. The diary incident happened at christmas time, so had Mutsumi arrived before then and hinted about her promise by then, Keitaro may have fallen for her instead. Except, now, all of the girls will be trying their best to win Keitaro so Mutsumi's win is not so secured. Anyhow, the idea does not kill Naru per say (though maybe the reason she did not travel back in time was because she died, or not...) but it does remove her as competition. I think it took her a long time to warm up to Keitaro as anything other then a friend, but was jealous of Mutsumi, so about 2 or 3 months. The first month would be the time she would not of been much of a competitor. Though if everyone is chasing Keitaro, she might pay him some attention just to figure out why. Anyhow, that is roughly an idea I had once, feel free to develop it ... I may try it at some point, though I am not sure if 'time travel' stories are considered overdone. Anyhow, good luck writing something |
