Topic: SGA The novels.
Has anyone read the new original novels released by fandemonium at www.stargatenovels.com?

They have just released for worldwide sale the novelisation of the pilot episode. 'Rising' by Sally Malcolm. Its based on the original screenplay so its a more complete look at the episode. Its really good and it includes photos from the episode.

I'm not sure if I want to make the effort. I read the short story she submitted to the stargate magazine and it was all right, but it wasn't Zahn.

Its definitely worth reading, I bought it the other day and its so good.

Also I read Sally Malcolm's books from the SG1 line and they were brilliant too. ('A Matter of honor' and The Cost of honor.')

Just ordered the new original novel 'SGA:Reliquary.' It sounds so good. They go to a planet thinking there's an ancient repository but theres an alien and brain washes them into taking him back to Atlantis where he takes over...

'Rising' was really good as well- got more insight into characters.

Does anybody know the SGA novel "Exogenesis"? I tried to get it in stores while I was on vacation in the US. All other SGA books wouldn't have been a problem, but that particular one would have taken over a month to be delivered.

On Amazon.de (I'm German so buying on Amazon Germany would be the easiest way) the book isn't sold anymore although they say it was released August 2006. I checked for it in the middle of September. So how come they don't even sell it for 2 month?

Anyway, I saw that Amazon.com still sells it, but was wondering why they don't have an image of that book if it is already published.

http://www.amazon.com/Stargate-Atlantis-Exogenesis/dp/1905586027/sr=1-1/qid=1160382098/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3111918-3831301?ie=UTF8&s=

On the other hand on Amazon.co.uk the book is supposed to be published in October 2006. (That would explain why I could not get it in stores in the US until the middle of October.)

So I just now tried stargatenovels.com. They say it was supposed to be published in August 2006 but hasn't been published yet. Since they should know about it all of the above is probably just Amazon screwing up, right?

Anyway, I'm confused. Does somebody know when the book will be published?

I know this book well - SG-A Exogenesis. It has been the bane of my existence too looked everywhere for it until I found that it wasn't published!

I always check with the source - stargatenovels.com and you are right icecream junkie it was supposed to be published in August, however there was a delay in one of the books - SG-1 Survival of the fittest and its pushed all the other books back.

Amazon was just going by the estimated date of publication but it is now wrong.

It should be published around October sometime - they say mid Oct but I'd go for the end to beginning of November.

The best thing to do it sign up for the newsletter at stargatenovels.com and they send u an email 2 say when it is in stores.

Apparently it will be worth the wait - sounds exciting and if u r a Sheppard fan u will be in luck as the author loves Sheppard too!

Awesome. I'm really looking forward to read it.

Just can't wait for my birthday to get all the SG-A novels which are published so far. Just 2 more weeks... Well, actually three. Why do I have to be at university over my b-day? :-(

I know where my mum keeps our b-day presents (I found out about 10 years ago *g*) and it is really tempting to sneek up there and just read the first pages of "Rising". But I probably won't be able to stop there... So I better not start in the first place.

This is the first time in years I feel like a kid again as far as my b-day is concerned. And I love it! ;-)

You've got some will power! Your right though, if you read just one page you'll be hooked and end up reading it all!

They will be worth the wait. When is your birthday?

October 22nd.

But I come home from university October 28th to celebrate my birthday with my family. That's when I'll get the novels. Unless... I can get my mom to let my brother bring the books or at least "Rising" with him when he comes to visit me for my b-day-party at university.

That sounds like a plan. :-D

My birthday is the 28th!!

Sounds good fun and a great plan - after all you may need reading material for the journey home. ;-)

Who knows maybe Exogenesis will be out in time for our birthdays?!!

That's exactly what I thought. "Hey Mama, I don't have any books to read. What am I supposed to do on the train next weekend?" *g*

But this is going slightly off topic. ;-)

It would be nice if the book would be out in time for our b-days.

Do the books go in a certain order or can you just start reading whatever book you like?

#14 Oct 11th 2006, 12:47am
Infinitediversity
The Atlantis books can be read in any order as they are stand-alone and can jump from any time during the series. For example Rising is the pilot episode but Reliquary is set during the second half of season one. Then Halcyon jumps to Season 2.

The only books that need to be read in order are the SG-1 Matter of Honour and its follow-up as they are basically one story cut into two books. Atlantis hasn't done anything like that yet.

So pick whatever book takes your fancy and read away.

Happy Birthday for the other day IcecreamJunkie!

Looks like we won't be getting Exogenesis this month. SG-1: Alliances by Karen Miller has been released instead. There's always next month though!

Thanks.

Well, it's not that bad anymore since I got "Rising" last weekend. (Yes, my mum let my brother give it to me. I love my mum. *g*) The other 3 books will be waiting for me when I come home tomorrow. So I have enough to read until Christmas since I'm very busy with university until then anyways. Until then they should release it. At least I really hope so.

There's a nice sneak preview to Exogenesis at the back of SG-1: Alliances and it sounds really good!

Have you read Rising yet, icecreamjunkie? What did you think? Read any of the others?

I read Rising and I was stupid enough to start Reliquary.

I liked Rising. It had a lot of funny parts. Especially the explanation what GOD stands for. :-D

I Read the first chapter of Reliquary and had to leave it at one of my friends in order to get work for university done and not just read the book. But since my project is due in Thursday, I think I'll finish the book by Sunday. *g*

It was a good book - I agree, I thought the GDO bit (its ok I knew what you meant ;-) ) was a nice touch. I didn't know what it meant before reading the book.

How you didn't read the whole book of Reliquary is beyond me - I bow down to you, you've got some willpower!

So far Reliquary and The Chosen are my favourites, loads of Shep and whump!

I love the Atlantis books, but it drive me nuts how many times they have been delayed. It is worse the the second season of DVD's in the US. Oh, and my favorite so far is Halcyon. Hooray for Rodney whummpage.

I know what you mean Cap10, the delays are annoying but I suppose that they are worth the wait, when we do eventually get them! Lol. Oh don't get me started on the DVDs, Im waiting to get mine on the 26/2/07 for Atalntis and next monday for season 9 of SG-1, if they get delayed again, I'll go nuts!!!lol.

If you like Rodney and Rodney whumpage - check out the new novel Exogenesis, you won't be disappointed. Or if you have read it, what did you think?

I am currently waiting for my copy of Exogenesis to arrive. It is a little hard getting it where I am. Mail deliveries are well limited so it might take a few more weeks before it arrives. That is life though. I am glad it is good. I have something to look forward for.

I've wanted to read the novels..the only problem is that they aren't in the stores and I'm not going to buy them over the phone or online. I have noticed there are tones of Star Wars books...but the fans who would rather buy the novels in stores...can't read the novels for Stargate. I think it's unfair. They should at least send them to the stores and see how good the sales can be on the books.

What bookstores do you have locally? I know not a lot of stores carry the novels, but in the U.S. I know Borders, Barnes and Noble, and Hastings will special order them for you. You can pick them up in the store in a few days. As far as I can tell they are in more bookstores in Europe. Hope this helps.

Really? I went to a Barnes & Nobles and they told me they can't special order them...for whatever reason. I could try it again just to be safe. Though I haven't gone to Borders yet. I'll see about that on my day off. I'm a member of those 2 bookstores...so I'll take a look. Thank you by the way for the info.

Hm, I have purchase a Stargate book from Barnes and Nobles. I have found Borders worked with me more. To warn you I haven't been able to use them for a while. I currently live out in the middle of nowhere.

@ Driftwood Dragon:

I know for sure Borders will order the books for you. They sometimes even have them in stores. They would have ordered them for me while I was in the USA, but they wouldn't have arrived before I had to go back to Germany. :-(

Just found a list of some of the places that sell the stargate novels - here's the link - http://www.stargatenovels.com/wheretobuy.shtml

There's Waterstones, Forbidden Planet, Galaxy shop, Ottakar's, and some that probably haven't added their link to the site yet.

Good luck with the hunt.

Has anyone read the new novel SGA:Entanglement?
#33 Jun 21st 2007, 6:07am
IceCream Junkie
I don't even own it, yet. I'll probably wait until at least "Casualiies of War" comes out and buy them together. Maybe I even wait until my birthday. That way I know at least something I can ask my parents to buy that doesn't have to do with university. *rolls eyes*

I didn't have that much time to read recently anyway. And most of the stuff I read was for university. I still haven't read "Halcyon" and "Exogenesis". I just hope I'll have time this summer to read them. But then, I have two really important exams next term, so maybe I won't.

Did you read "Entanglement" yet? Is it good?

Ooh what's casualties of war? I'll have to check in at the stargate novels site!

Uni does take over doesn't it, but it'll be worth it in the end when your getting your diploma in your cap and gown.

Yeah Entanglement is good so it is probably wise that you haven't bough it yet or read the others because once your hooked you'll have to read them all! lol. You could use it as a treat, a bit of pleasure after the pain of exams. lol.

I'm reading Caualties of War right now (the first one I've read was Halcyon) and I am really enjoying it, because it has a fairly balanced share of all characters. The novel itself is about a conflict between two societies on a faraway planet, which Dr. Weir and Co try to resolve - of course, there are plenty of obstacles and adventures along the way. I think it's set in season 2.

I use these books to get me from the end of one season of the show to the beginning of another ;)

I'm reading it too! Great read.

I think its set season three, because I've only seen s1 and 2 and the asurans haven't appeared yet.

Me too, the time between seasons and DVD releases etc is too long - its torturous! lol.
