runningondreamsTopic: Captain so Tezuka intersts me, mostly because he doesn't seem to be explored a whole lot in canon. There's just all this /potential/. Like the relationship between Tezuka and Echizen as equals, both prodigies, both elementary school champions, both left handed, both 'pillars'. There's a lot that can be done with that (and I don't mean as a romantic pairing). And then there's the interdependence between our beloved buchou an Oishi, and the rivalry with Fuji, and the trust he shows in Inui. He's so self-contained, but he's also just a 15 year-old kid, and I think that dichotomy is really interesting. I also really want to explore his life /before/ Echizen showed up, like his relationship with Yamoto-buchou and the trials of being a first-year who can beat everyone on the team including the captain and still being forced to wait until summer to play. and the developement of his friendships with Oishi and his other year-mates. It would be really interesting to compare Tezuka to Echizen Najirou, don't you think? And, of course, he's the tragic hero of the anime...^.^ I guess this thread is: /why/ do you like Tezuka? And what are you going to do about it? How do you see him as a person, as a captain, as a role model, as a friend? your thoughts? runningondreams |

Ria Sakazakii think Tezuka's personality is like an open enigma in the story. yeah you know he's stoic, that he likes people running laps, that he's strict but then again you're left hanging. i think that's the reason why a lot of people are pinning to peal that stoic mask and reveal what he really is.i think what makes him tick would be training determined, cocky, potentials into that so-called Pillar... | #2 Oct 23rd 2006, 11:19pm

runningondreams^.^ Yeah, that's one of the things i like about this series: most of the characters have only a limited part of their personalities explored, so it's more fun to write fanfics and figure out who they are. What makes Tezuka tick? hmm.....teacher? well that's one option. I think anoher large part of him is his sense of responsibility. Yamato told him to become Seigaku's pillar and so he does everything in his power to do so, including leading by example and ensuring that once he graduates that love of tennis will live on. He commits everything he has to Seigaku...sometimes it makes me wonder what he'll do in high school and beyond. |

Mrs Hatake ItachiI like Tezuka because he reminds me of a friend I have who is stern looking and serious also I like is sense of responsibility although sometimes he takes it to the extreme, and I really can't do anything asbout it right? As for a captain, well need I say it, he makes a very good captain, he's responsible anbd would do anything for his team as for a friend, well he can be a good friend as well, i mean if his willing to do anything for his team then his willing to do anything as well for his friends. What do you think?| #4 Apr 28th 2007, 11:20pm

Delton-RuuWhy I like Tezuka, Kunimitsu and what I am going to do about it?I really have a soft spot for guys with stoic, impassive, phlegmatic, stolid, apathetic and mysterious features and character. I'm really a sucker when it comes to those xy chromosome types and not to mention, extremely physically handsome. (*squeals*) How do I see him as a person, as a captain, as a role model and as a friend? Tezuka's character is rather deep. I mean, he's the type of person that values responsibility very much and has high moral standards. He also has a profound sense of discipline and control, the main reason he is leader material. Those strong characters make him a captain and a role model. Becoming his friend would be a gift from God. Despite his stoic and apathetic features, I'm quite sure he would be the most loyal and understanding one. Its a fact that he's not your typical 'I'll-follow-and-tug-with-you-around' tomodachi because that's just not him but, expect him to support and help you all the way in your hard and difficult times. His presence is enough for you to be at ease, much more his attention. He seems to be perfect ne? But I doubt it. Despite all those positive marks I've mentioned there's still a little flaw. I think he'll tend to be a little too rough in making his point if this certain individual has a stubborn streak in him. Take for example how he slapped Echizen just to make him return into his senses during the American junior invitational tennis tournament arc. That part where Smith Kevin challenged the freshman tennis prodigy in an unofficial match. But I think what Tezzy-Bucho did was the best remedy knowing Echizen would definitely not listen to him. Now I believe action really speaks louder than words. He He He He | #5 Apr 29th 2007, 11:31am

Mrs Hatake ItachiOh, I remember that and I guess I have to agree with you he had some flaws to but I think he's also the type of person who would think first before acting or doing something. What do you think?| #6 May 01st 2007, 11:40pm

Delton-RuuTrue, true. ^_^ But as I've said earlier, what he did to Echizen during that time was the best option (I think) since 'plain talking' won't reach the already frustrated and down-hearted freshman tennis prodigy. So, in the end, I think I understand Tezuka-bucho's quick remedy, that is, to slap our 'next seigaku's pillar of support'.| #7 May 02nd 2007, 12:58pm

Mrs Hatake ItachiI think it's his first time to slap someone, by the way Taka-san reacted and Akutsu and Dan's shock face. If Tezuka don't have the same stoic going on in him then he would show how shock he was too, but he didn't!!!| #8 May 05th 2007, 11:10pm
