Topic: The chip in Max's arm
Hey, has anyone else noticed that, while there are hints that the chip is a tracking device, it never actually says so outright?

For example, Dr. Martinez tells Max that it LOOKS like a tracking device, but it's never confirmed. Also, Ari says that he got his information "Straight from the horse's mouth" when the erasers are tracking the flock, but he never specifies which horse. Everyone kind of assumes that it is a tracking device, which makes me think there may be some sort of plot twist in the third book where it's not that at all.

Yeah, you're right. No one has actually said if the chip is or isn't a tracking device. For all we know, some random scientist might have just stuck a chip into her arm for kicks. Which is quite unlikely, but you get my point.

As for the plot twist thing, there will be one. JP always sticks them in there. O.G.

Yeah, it is unlikely that someone stuck it in there randomly. Unless it's just so the voice can talk to her (But no-one's said for sure that it's how the voice is talking to her...)

I read a book once in which the main character (who was originally human, but was transformed into a manta-ray-like alien... long story) had something implanted into him that would allow the scientists back at the station to control his actions...

A wild theory, but perhaps this chip might serve the same purpose? Y'know, in case Max is really getting off track, and there's absolutely no time left...

Another guess: what if the chip would be able to produce deadly toxins at any given moment? It could be used to eliminate her if it becomes necessary, and could also be used as a threat in case coercion is needed (for her or another member of the Flock).

I think that it is a chip that helps Jeb to talk to her, like you know the voice inside her head i think it is him but that is just a guess

OR it could be something that makes her more strong

heyheyhey!!

How do you get that lovely picture by your name... and yes I know that you have to go to profile and all that... I just can't get my picture to fit.. it always says it's too big ( and I TRIED to find a smaller picture.... I did, just didn't work either.)
