Well, as in any story, you need a hook to grab the reader's attention in the beginning. Kimabetrthenyou suggested a fight but it doesn't always have to be one. You could use gags, anything!

There's not too much difference between a boy story and a girl story. A boy story doesn't have as much romance and usually, themes like friendship are used. If there is love, it's kind-of a minor thing. Boys aren't interested in the whole courting thing, although they don't mind the occasional fluffy moment. They prefer the confession of love to come during a fight scene rather than after a drama, for some reason. Don't ask me why...

A male's story doesn't always have to have action, but it would help greatly if you put it in. That's all I'm saying.
