Topic: Does anyone need a Beta Reader?
Because seriously, I would love to beta read a few things. then i can take a break from writting for a few minutes to beta read, correct, and return before going back to finish the next chapter of RUMBLE or something. It would be fun!

Hey Treestar, I would offer to beta read for you, but the prblem with me is, when i beta read for an author whose work I enjoy (such as yourself) then I gt too engrossed in the fic and copletely overlook the mistakes! Ha! I'm pretty useless!

I'm also pretty lost myself right now. My beta reader has run away on holiday for two weeks! Gah! I have been left to check my own work for the first time in months! There's bound to be mistake now! OH WELL! Good luck in finding beta readers. I would, but wel, I'm useless, hehe.

Do you currently have any beta readers? Your work usually has hardly any IF any mistakes that I spot ... but then again, that could be because I'm to engrossed with reading it! Now is that a good thing or a bad thing...?

DigitalDreamer has done some Beta-ing for me in the past. she's helped me out with Homecoming Hill, which i'm finally going to start posting now. It's ready to go. :) But i'm this crazy perfectionist writer, so when i write my own stuff, i correct as I go. that's why stories that i plan to be short just keep growing and growing and growing (a pink bunny can beat a drum and roll through any time now).

Man I SOOOO need to get my butt in gear on RUMBLE! it's insane how much i think, 'oh i need to get the next part on that done!' and then i remember that i have a paper due in two days and i can't spend time on my stories... but you know, it's okay. i'll get on it soon. someone made me fanart and now i'm thrilled. it's a cute color drawing of a mini luffy kissing Zoro. It inspired that whole cute 'sneaking one when zoro's sleeping' scene that i want to write.

I'm okay at Betaing inasmuch as i can stay focused on correcting work while i'm reading. I just read it through once to get a feel for the chapter, THEN i go through and correct problems. that way i'm not hooked so easily. What drives me nuts is when a person is just SO BAD at writing that there's more mistake than problem. i've discovered that i need to beta chapters for one piece that are at least 3000 words long, otherwise they are usually just things that someone slapped together and then they ask me to make it some kind of masterpiece. I actually had one person send me a three paragraph story where this entire shipwreck happens and then a romantic scene ends it and every thing... in 3 dinky paragraphs, then they asked me to beta read it so that it looked like something I wrote.

I was all 'That's rewriting the entire story for you, person. if i did that, i would post it under MY name, because i would have written it. Turn 150 words into a 3000 word story? I don't think so!'

What a cheek! They asked you to rewrite it? Thats so cheeky! I hate authors like that. I myself kind of hijacked a fic (with ermission of the author):D.

I needed a break from my own so i started reading some and i read one of my mates fics called 'What Does Your Stomach Tell You?' and i chat to her about it and asked if i could write down some ideas ... i ended up writing 4 chaptrers hehe. We're now co-writing it. And its my second ZoLu - go me! Oh, I was wodering did you read the end of fever? That fc didn't get too good a response but no worries, I'll just try and make better one sit eh future - maybe it was the summary?

I make some TERRIBLE mistakes in my work geh! Have you ever found that when YOU write something, nomatter how much you read it you cant find all the mistakes?

You know, actually, i can get all of them, but i have to read it outloud to my friend. I read all my chapters to her before i post them because she can't read very well (extremely dislexic) to get a feel for how they sound, and also to do the voices and jump all over in my chair... I love that part best. it's better than even reviews for me! because i get feedback by hearing her laugh, and sometimes my little brothers come in because they think i'm entertaining and once my dad even came in to take a seat and soon i had five people listening to me read out loud one night before bedtime. It was great. but i correct as i go when i do that, because Kelly reads along with me as best she can and points things out when i blow past them.

But it takes all that to get all the mistakes. i make more mistakes when i edit, usually, so sometimes it's better to leave well enough alone, i guess. :)

Unfortunately I have no frinds here in this country (moved to spain 4 months ago) to read with ... as a matter of fact I had no friends in England to read with either... it seems the dub has chased away all of the people who may have liked one Piece. My beta reader is back now so I'm a happy little gerbil now.

hellooo... -looks around shiftily and then waves- I decided, I am gonna join this topic. So I can scare away everyone else. Lol. -pokes Clarobell- You're a gerbil?

I wouldn't mind you beta-ing for me Treestar, if that'd be okay. Clarobell beta's sometimes for me, and she's great too! But, it's always nice to have two seperate opinions, don't you think?

If you looks straight up at the top of the site you will see several options under the blue bar at the top of ff.net. One of them is beta reading. You choose a beta reader from that list and view their beta profile before asking via the 'hire this beta reader' button.

Hope that helps!

Un,,where's the 'hire this beta reader' button you talked about? I still couldn't found them,,or is it because i am opening this site using my mobile phone so it won't appear?

I'm not really sure where it is, but I know I've seen it. It may be a link and I'm not sure if its because you're accessing it on a mobile phone, because I don't have a mobile myself and have never used one to accessthe internet. Sorry I can't be any more help.

LOL! I'll try to soon, I'm just trying to get a bit of a headstart on Dramatic Differences again at the moment. That fic is falling behind rather badly, so I'll try to get DT out soon.

I hope this topic isn't dead because I really need a beta reader... *bites fingernails*

I got an idea for a one shot of sorts while I took a shower (I always get my ideas when I take a shower. I seriously need a waterproof pen and notebook...) and I wrote it in less than two days and that's just one of the reasons why I'm so insecure about this.

It's more a bunch of connected drabbles than an actual one-shot and pretty short (a little bit more than 1500 words) and it's my first One Piece story (not my first story per se, don't worry) but it's a style that I'm still unfamiliar with and I need someone who can correct my grammatical mistakes and tells me what works and what does't... well short: I need a beta! -.-"

It's obviously ZoLu and mostly humour with a little bit fluff thrown in...it's hard to explain actually. Soooo... ehm, if any of you are interested...? *looks around*
