MagykTalesTopic: Yami/Isis Now...maybe this pairing is kinda out there...for some of you out there, but I can't help but see something in it! SOO, wat'cha think? I'd really like if more people wrote about this pairing. And let's face it. There's just about every kind of pairing in YGO that there can be. From Yaoi to yuru to straight. Now, how come this pairing doesn't bode well with the masses? |
 |
KaisToasterHmm. I think there is definitely a lot of basis for this pairing. However, Isis really doesn't get shown that much in the anime, so people just don't pay as much attention to her, or don't get a very good feel for her character, compared to someone who's around all the time like Anzu. I think it's mostly for that reason that people don't pair them more. Also, with all the dueling and school and everything for Yami/Yugi, there isn't much time for romance outside of someone he sees daily. |

MagykTalesIt's nice to hear a reply after so long. And yes I agree that there isn't much room for romance, but it doesn't stop anyone out there from going as they like it. What are your thoughts on the pairing? Good or bad? Interesting...or not? |
 |
KaisToasterGood for sure. I think they make a nice couple, maybe not a very passionate or intense one though. I've always found Seto/Isis a little more plausible. Interesting, but probably hard to write well. |
 |
MagykTalesPerhaps...perhaps not. But it depends upon the taste of the reader whether they prefer Yami/Isis or Seto/Isis. Personally for me, I can't really see it working. But then perhaps for others it works. Either way, this Topic isn't recieving alot of replies anyways lol. Maybe the pairni is a bit too unpopular. |

MagykTalesThat's true that Isis wasn't depicted in the anime much, but there is still much potential for a relationship including both of them in my opinion. :) | #6 Oct 13th 2008, 3:09pm . Edited Oct 13th 2008, 3:11pm | |

Elficiel(Uh ? a forum on Yami/Isis ? ^.^) There's a few time I discovered this pairing, but it has been enough for to make me totally crazy of that ! 3 And l agree with you, Punkeymonkey89 ^^ What a pity that Yami/Isis be so unpopular... Yet it could be interesting as you said before, Yami and Isis share a lot in common: the passion of duels, the Egyptian nationality, and so on .... :( Strangely enough, I can well imagine them in a platonic relationship :p | #7 Feb 26th, 6:34pm . Chibi's SisterHonestly, I see this only ever being platonic. I think Isis would have a lot of hang-ups about getting involved with the Pharaoh...I mean, since she was a child, he's been this legendary figure, half-revered, half-feared, by her family. Plus, at some level, she has to have some resentment for everything her family suffered through. She'd never ever admit it to herself, much less show it or act on it, but somewhere in her subconscious it's there. I think Isis would be completely freaked out by viewing the Pharaoh as a romantic object, or by feeling desire for him. She would immediately supress the feelings as inappropriate. The only way I think it could possibly work is if the Pharaoh expressed overt interest in her first. Even then, I think there would be the risk that Isis would feel compelled to respond favorably, even if she didn't have reciprocal feelings. Plus, I don't see signs of the Pharaoh being interested in her at all. Throughout their interaction, he's only interested in the facts she can give him, on the mission ahead. He doesn't even seem to have much sympathy for her as a person--even though its in some sense partially his fault. And...now he's dead. Yeah, I don't really see this working out. I do have a slight interest in Priestess Isis and Atem, where it could work out in the context of an arranged marriage, or a marriage of convience (or, as in a plot bunny that dangles in the back of my mind and won't go away, Isis seeing a vision of Atem's death and Atem asking her to bear his heir to ensure Egypt will have a king when he is gone). But I'm really more of a Pleashipper, with a slight inclination towards Logicshipping, if Isis survives the war. |

MagykTalesWell, first off I'd like to thank you for such an in depth answer to my question. It's nice to hear opinions especially on subjects that may seem odd to the vast majority. Speaking just for myself, I do agree that in the Anime (dubbed, for that's all I've watched) there are probably no hints at all to support this couple. Well, for many pairings in this fandom, that can also be the case, such as Joey/Kaiba, or Seto/Serenity. Suffice to say, they exist as couples because of fandom. I think it's purely imagination and inclination really. I also think that you are correct when you say that Isis would be freaked out if she found out she may have feelings for the Pharaoh. It's reasonable to think so, because once again, he is the Pharaoh and sits at a higher station that she herself could never enjoy. My interest however is how they can relate to one another. They are both Egyptian and know each other from the past. In many ways, Isis could have been his source of council, as she was his priestess. What makes them interesting is that they are both very deep people, who if even sat and had a normal discussion, could discover a world of things from each other, or perhaps nothing at all. It's again how the author percieves them. That plot bunny could potentially create something of a story that I would love to read very much, if you do ever choose to write it down. However the premise is not something that I would like to think of, much less read, but a good story is a good read. |

ElficielHowever, I think that the couple might work in the possibility that the Pharaoh would remain in the present times; having his own body, and no longer having to save the world, he might seek to extend his social life, and could get closer to people with who he hasn't had the opportunity to do it when he had to focus on his quest for his past trouble. And Isis may well be part of this number, after all, it was her who unveiled Atem's true identity, and he could be grateful towards her for what she did. That said, it is unfortunately unlikely that their relation, in this actual possibility, can not go beyond that the stage of friendship, because, as pointed out Chibi's Sister earlier, Atem is the Pharaoh, and Isis would have great difficulties seeing him as an other character than a king to whom she owes obedience and respect ... |
