Topic: Heroes Season Three Trailer: PAIRE!?!

I don't think this has been posted yet, so I guess I will do the honours.

In the new season three trailer for NBC, at the very end... well, if you haven't seen it watch it; the rest is brilliant too:

But at the end...

Claire: (soft voice, also a brunette like in FYG) I'm sorry Peter... (raises gun, voice hardens) I always loved you.

Then there's a flash to future Peter, scar and all, who simply closes his eyes.

I don't know what to make of it... but my heart is seriously pounding in anticipation right now.

Whatever love Claire had for Peter, it's certainly turned into hatred now. Torturing Peter with a scalpel, even before he did the things that made her hate him? Ouch. How do you reconcile this with your beliefs that Peter and Claire are "meant to be"?

Although I really like the idea of Peter and Claire together this is the one pairing that I have the most difficulty accepting. They're related. But I have two theories.

1) Peter, like Claire, was given to the Petrellis to raise. Remember that Nathan could not manifest powers on his own and was placed in an experimental treatment. So the family acquired Peter from somewhere because they saw his immense potential for power. Mr. P always did have that his own secret agenda with Linderman. Also, Mr. P always treated Peter less.

2) Peter and Claire get together despite being related. I honestly don't think this will happen but let's pretend. So Peter and Claire pair up and this leads to future dark haired Claire. If they pair up, it will damage Claire. Not only will she be ostracized by her family, the guilt would eat at her.

The only way I can visualize Theory 2 is if the world ends and Claire becomes immortal. And so does Peter. If centuries pass and everyone is gone, the familial connection between them will fade. There will be no one else like them and they will not have anyone but each other.

Those are good theorys Kitty-Kat. I heard a theory where Sylar and eter were switched at birth by Angela. It's a plausible theory.

Now see, I get EXACTLY what you mean, kitty-kat12, about the whole immortality thing.

What with Adam Monroe living forever (unless he gets shot in the head, of course), it makes sense that the other three regeneratives will be in the same circumstance. And of course, here I'm talking about Peter, Claire, and Gabriel/Sylar.

Claire is very much a person who values her connections. She needs certainty and stability and she needs to have the people she loves in her life or she just falls apart. And if she's living forever, it's going to get really hard for her to keep making these connections and have them fall away as the people age and die. So she's going to cling to the people who stay with her. And since she hates Sylar for what he did to her...

I also agree, I've never really thought Peter was a Petrelli. He's not a schemer, he doesn't have any hidden agendas, he's kind and good and actually LIKES PEOPLE, unlike all the rest of that twisted family.

One more note, on the age difference that bothers people so often. Peter's 27. He's just about at the age that he's NOT GETTING ANY OLDER. Claire will catch up to him, and then stop aging, herself. Thirty forever, both of them.

This is why Paire is better than Clois (Clark Kent and Lois Lane, another perfect match). Both Peter AND Claire get immortality, so it's not a limited-time offer on their love. Superman lives forever, while Lois doesn't. Therefore, Paire is MUCH better than Clois. (Sorry, I know you all don't care about that, I just felt like pointing it out.)
