Sarahh JaneTopic: Sub Vs. Dub. Just express your views on both versions. ^^ |

PBCNX-MANSubtitles vs Dubbing??? |
|
Sarahh JaneYep.Do you like the dubbed version... or the subtitled? Why or why not, and just anything else you want to say. ^^ |
|
PBCNX-MANWell, i go for the dubbed version of cardcaptor sakura (not cardc&aptors)... I also like the subtitled too...(Cardc&aptors suck!!) |
|
Sarahh JaneHehe. I prefer the subtitled version - Cardcaptor Sakura. But I still give thanks to Nelvana and Cardcaptors. Since, I wouldn't be writing, or foruming, or anything... If I didn't get into Cardcaptors back in 2001. But then once I realized that so much was cut out. I watched the original... and that's where I stand. ^^ |
|
Aisaki Sumisub is betta =P dubs sometimes take out stuff and change things around a bit...(ex. dubbed naruto and ygo) goooooooo sub!!!!!! lolz | #6 Jan 24th 2006, 10:14pm

Sarahh JaneI don't watch anime that's in English anymore. If I rent a DVD, I change it to subtitled, and Japanese audio. I'm just so used to it. XD; Also, if I download an anime, and it's in English only... I delete it and find another copy, lol. I just like it more. | #7 Jan 25th 2006, 10:27am

PBCNX-MANThe Good Thing with sub is you can watch the series without the sounds and stuff!!| #8 Jan 26th 2006, 12:33am
|
|
Sarahh JaneWhat would be the point in that? |
|
Aisaki Sumiexactly =___=;; the whole point is to listen to the japanese lines spoken by the characters, and some words just cant be changed into english. ex. in Fruits Basket, Kyo and Yuki's fights are funnier in japanese XD. you hear Kyo screaming "kuso nezumi" and Yuki mumbling a quiet and soft "baka neko" and then Kyo fuming, and glaring at Yuki "Teme!" XD its funnie. it wouldnt be cute and hilarious anymore if it were to be translated into english "stupid cat", "damn mouse"...sounds so bleh...=.=;; i dun watch anime in english either, or had stopped watching it a while ago. | #10 Jan 27th 2006, 10:38am

Sarahh JaneHehehehe.Fruit's Basket. I REALLY hate Tohru's English voice. Japanese... well a lot better, lol. Kyou = *Heart* | #11 Jan 29th 2006, 6:47pm

|
PBCNX-MANNow i have seen why subs are better than the dub itself...i was reviewing a dub and a sub of a CCS episode and obviously some "topics" are changed... Go Subs!! | #12 Jan 30th 2006, 6:17pm

Sarahh JaneYeah...I wish that they would allow more in the dub... Maybe more people would get into anime... And hell, it's an economic boost too! I can understand cutting certain things... to a point. But, why not allow something like S+S in love... And see what reviews they get? If you understand it... then great. But the people who don't... aren't forced to watch it, ne? | #13 Feb 03rd 2006, 6:41pm

PBCNX-MANBut, why not allow something like S+S in love...I Don't see the point why they need to cut that... | #14 Feb 03rd 2006, 8:09pm . Edited Feb 03rd 2006, 8:09pm

Sarahh JaneI heard something about...Two 12 year olds in love... won't go over good with American audiences. Children won't understand what is really going on... And they can't show that on television. Blah blah blah. I'm like... so? As long as the people who do understand it... know what's going on. Why not let it through the screens and judging. The worst that can happen is some people don't get it. Won't watch it... or something. And they MIGHT recieve a few hate letters or something. *Shakes fist* Damn those people who watch and critique things airing here. | #15 Feb 03rd 2006, 8:45pm

ttt-katanai like the sub, because in the dub, the voices always sound weird and don't match the characters.| #16 Feb 22nd 2006, 7:08pm

Sarahh JaneYeah.I'm watching Marmalade Boy, and the English is default. I get mad when I skip past the opening and I hear it. :x So I have to put the subtitles on... and change the audio. I'm a dork. :3 | #17 Feb 23rd 2006, 5:12pm

PBCNX-MANWho sez you're a dork :X| #18 Feb 24th 2006, 7:42pm

Sarahh JaneI call myself one...And my friends also call me a dork. XD; It makes me feel special. :3 --- Ugh. I can't get stupid subtitles on Mars Live Action! The first five episodes have them... and 6-15 don't... And then 16-18 have them again. Grrr! I don't know Taiwanese... so I can't translate. *Sighs* Why the heck wouldn't they subtitle half of the series? Especially THE HUGE chunk in the middle?! | #19 Feb 26th 2006, 12:44pm

Random Little WriterI like the sub much better. The dub changed the names, cut out most of the pairings, and the voice cast? Grr! I just can't believe they cut out a lot of the SS stuff. I mean, I can understand if they cut out a shoujo-ai or shounen-ai pairing like Sonomi/Nadeshiko or Yukito/Touya, but why did they cut out SS? Just because they're only ten years old doesn't mean it's dirty. There's many underage crushes nowadays. | #20 Nov 18th 2006, 9:36pm

Sarahh JaneSpeaking of Dubs.Wasn't it rumored that the second movie was dubbed? -Shudders- Must have been horrible. I assume that everything would have been cut... | #21 Feb 17th 2007, 4:39pm

Grey-XI depends on WHICH dubbed version you refer to....I have it on good authority that the Spanish dub, the one shown in South America, was almost perfect. Complete with all the shonen-ai and shojo-ai moments, and the all-important S+S. The only thing missing was Sakura's ultra-cute "Hoe!" Come to think of it, that IS a big mistake. Sakura not saying "Hoe!" is like Homer Simpson not saying "D'oh!" But I'm sure it's still light-years beyond the NA dub. -_- | #22 Feb 20th 2007, 1:36pm

Ning JunTo be honest... after figuring out that all my favorite cartoons from when I was a child originated in Japan (I was 10 at the time), I immediately looked it up. And thus... I became addicted to the internet... now, the dubbed voices scare me. I cry out in fear (did that several times, literally) and then pause it as quick as I can and exit the site I'm at... Not to mention, the dubbed change EVERYTHING around. A LOT! Well, not so much the ones for an older audience, since they usually change the ones meant for a 'younger' audience, but still. Besides, it is best for one to listen to the original voice actors. They actually FIT the character |
|
0o Moon Calf o0It is best for one to listen to the original voice actors. They actually FIT the character XP don't be so sure, the actor that played Yue in the original was a woman. I must agree, though, especially in the case of CCS, the sub is way better. Cardcaptors is so far altered from the original that it's in many ways an entirely different series. Of course, if we're talking about the best media, I'd say that both the sub and the dub fall far beneath the manga. There's a lot changed even in the subbed anime from its original version: the characters, the cards, the storyline, there's quite a bit that's altered with the Japanese anime too (Form CLAMP’s intentions). |
|
Midnight Green .Bluei would agree that subs are better... because sometimes the whole esscence of some part of the episodes are lost |
