Stalker.BunyTopic: Does the Color Really Make the Ranger? Ok, I've seen alot of posts about who was the best and worst of a color (I have a post like that) but it got me wondering..do people categorize how good a ranger is based on their color, or does the persons personality make the color good? For example: All the pink rangers, in my own humble opinion, were strong, capable women in their own way. Each had faults and weaknesses. Each was loyal, helped those in need, etc..yet all were pink. Were they chosen to be pink because of those traits, or is it just a coincidence? I think its the person that makes the color what it is, and not the color that makes the ranger..does any of this make any sense? | #1 Jul 07th 2007, 11:27pm | |

ShivaVixenYeah, alot of colors automatically have stereotypes attached to them. Red are leaders, Blue and Green alternate being technology/rule oriented or flirts (Lucas, Joel, Xander), Yellow women seem to be sort of mediators, or have an even keel, yellow guys tend to be laid back and quirky (Dustin, Chip) and Black tends to be able to fit anyrole required. Other colored rangers (white, silver, titanium, quantum, gold, etc) seem to be powerhouses. TO a certain extent, this also brings up the question of 'do you choose the power? or does the power choose you?' Trent was drawn to the white dino gem, but Nick was selected to be the red ranger, except it took him to accept it to activate his magic. |

JuseaPetersonThat is an interesting thought. For me, I have been obsessed with putting them in groups with the colors and then also the way the characters are. Perhaps we try to make sure that they fit in with the color they are given. I think that perhaps some do fit certain patterns but I think that maybe we make them into it. Leaders for instance. Who are the leaders in Power Rangers, are they supposed to be the red ranger? I don't think it's only that. Jen, Taylor and Adam are some are are not read in any way, but they are leaders. Taylor was also rule oriented. And in Wild Force I would consider Cole or Alyssa to more fit the role of mediator than Taylor. Maybe it's that we take certain aspects and try to make it so that everyone in that color fits? |
ShivaVixenMaybe. I didn't see much of Wildforce, so I'll have to take your word on Taylor, but I've said this before, Pink is a light shade of Red, so that counts for Jen, if they didn't need Alex's morpher to unlock their own, they probably wouldn't have given Wes the morpher. And Zack also stepped up to the plate when Jason disapeared. But you're right. With the characters I wrote, I somehow subconciously put them into colors with the stereotypes attached. I think we all sort of look at the common threads that the colors have, rather than the differences. If that makes any sense. |

JuseaPetersonOh yes, Taylor was not the mediator calm person in that group. Pink is a light shade of Red, I'm not quite sure what you mean about this. Can you explain? Maybe they do have those specific characteristics...hmmm...maybe we should look at some of the rangers who have been more than one color and see if they changed to fit it you know? Tommy-green, white, red and black--I don't quite think Tommy fits the technology/rule oriented or flirts category. In his group that was more Zack, which was the black ranger. Red, well Tommy was the leader. White and Black seemed to be right. TJ-red and blue--TJ was a leader as both red and blue rangers. He wasn't technological or rule oriented and I didn't see him as a flirt. So I don't know. I mean Tommy has some of the qualities, but like the green doesn't quite fit, but then again we have a black ranger in that team that does. Maybe there are different roles and they have to be filled, whichever way is the best. |

ShivaVixenWell, first off, you mix white with red to get pink right? Kim had her moments of quick thinking. Kat acctually became a pretty good second in command at points, and given more time she'd have been a good leader. Cassie I;m not so sure of, but Kendrix and Karone (this is based on episode summaries) both had leadership skills, though they tended to shy away from the spotlight. That's not to mention Dana, who could succesful lead the team without carter, and then there's Jen. She could have led the team just fine. And while Syd was a bit of a princess, she had moments where she could take the front of the team, like go undercover or take the lead in a fight (it did happen a few times) Vida from Mystic Force was also a more dominant type girl, and you could argue that she was the leader of the group before Nick arrived. Did that clear it up? |
JuseaPetersonYes, but you could very easily say that a lot of the yellow rangers could lead it to. *shrugs* I don't know. I see what you're saying, but I think it can be applied to others as well. |
ShivaVixenProbably. Pretty much everyone person on a ranger team has taken the lead on an episode, so that's true, I just noticed Jen with leading, and some of the pinks follow her example. |
JuseaPetersonI do agree with Jen, I think she was a leader a lot, I just don't think a lot of the other ones exactly do, I mean more than others you know. For me I would say out of the girls it's really Taylor and Jen who tend to lead. Maybe each team does need all the rangers to have a little of all the qualities with certain members having more of one, and they just have to fall into that category you know? Perhaps the color does make the ranger? |
