Topic: Staying in character.
To me, keeping a character as he was originally intended is one of the biggest challenges of writing fics.

Whare are the most noticeable personality traits you've noticed about the characters?

Peter is energetic, he is willing to take a risk, he's self sacrficing and does everything with his whole heart. He has the heart of a servant and always puts others before him self, being willing to even give his life for someone else

Nathan: Charismatic, cunning and can spin a lie faster than you can blink. He is protective of those he cares about, sadly he tends to be too protective (much to Peter's grief).

Hiro: dramatic and silly, he either takes things to seriously or as a joke. He is fully loyal and heroic.

Claire: moody but generally good hearted, she's not afraid to stand up for what she thinks.

Mohinder: always the skeptic, he isn't willing to believe anything w/o solid evadense, but every new discovery is exciting to him. He is between loving and hating his father, but at the same time tries to follow in his steps.

Nathan: Trapped between two worlds.

Eden: [was] rather confident, but a girl with a good heart. We shall miss her.

Micah: A kid, really. Someone who sees too much. A bit of a nerd. The kind that is too smart for school, gets bored, then gets mischievious.

Mohinder: He actually strikes me as someone who NEEDS a mystery.

Niki: A mom, trying to support her kid and have a normal life. But a rough girl, someone who has had a hard time.

Jessica: Much the same... just has no qualms.

yeah - the awesome thing about Hiro is that he really wants to be a hero. And he's soooooo adorable and huggable...most of the time i want to leap through the screen and hug him because he's just so goofy and fun.

and the other great thing about Peter is that he's sooo intent on becoming a hero and helping Nathan realize that about himself. He wants to help his brother face what he is, and that makes him such an awesome guy. (plus i find peter to be cute... :) )

Claire can be bitcy, but is not a **. She's the cheerleader who looks steriotypical, but is far from it. She wants [wanted] to be popular, but won't go to the extremes that are set by her peers. (She will however, go to some lengths, as shown in episode 11 when Zach thinks she's playing a prank on him.) Ultimately, she's still young, naive and- for now,- insecure.

i think claire is consistantly inconsistant. she knows what she wants but is usually too surrounded by boundries to think of a way to accomplish them. on occasion (like with the homecoming queen thing) she'll stand rite up for it but you also get times (like her pretending she didnt save that guy) where she lets fear or emotion control how she acts. shes just growing up and trying to figure things out.

Consistantly inconsistent. I think that's a fantastic way to describe her. It fits... she's young, and I know many people see her as mature (and I'm not saying she is immature) she is still finding her place in the world.

I don't know if I can help with all the characters, but I have a few:

Claude: very skeptical, stubborn, very easy to write.

Mohinder: Kind of distant, and tries to avoid emotion.

Hiro: all around goofy.

Anyone get frustrated as the characters grow on the show different than in your intended fic?

Oh my god, yes! It doesn't help that I'm a little slow in plot development...And then there's a new show to foil my plans!! CONFOUND YOU, NBC SCHEDULE!!

one more thing about claire that i dont think anyone mentioned (if you did than lol im blind) but i think she really wants to fit in. She doesnt want to be anything but normal at the beginning, but more toward the end (of S1) she embrased her powers more, but not completely. Just thought id point that out, and if u already said this, gosh than im blind. Well thats it

People don't stay the same, and nor do characters. I am writing a Clairecentric story "The Survivor", and Claire's personality changes significantly.

But it's not unreasonable for her to change. She's already changing in the show, becoming more proactive. My story gives her a darker side, ultimately leading to violence. The violence is in fact a reaction - she's going after the Company - but she will be more prone to violence than others were.

That's interesting, because I'm writing a story where Claire's main goal is revenge and she ends up shooting someone and joining forces with Adam. I think Claire definitely has the possibility to become violent and/or homicidal. Maybe I'm just crazy, but I can really see her becoming like Adam too, if she's not careful. Also, perhaps she's more prone to violence, because she can't get hurt, maybe it's like she no longer considers the consequences of her actions, because it doesn't affect her. She is a very interesting character to write.
