Sith Lord Darth RevanTopic: The issues between a Male Revan and Male Exile as compared to a Female Revan or Female Exile. To Knights of the Old Republic fans everywhere this is a discussion that has sparked outrage, verbal and text arguments and dare I say a couple online curb stompings? Being Male I suppose I have a bias towards a Male Revan and Male Exile. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Cannon, however tells us that Revan is Male and the Exile Female. One out of two isn't so bad. It adds many issues for writers such as a relationship between Revan and the Exile, Malak and the Exile and so on as in Bald as Malak's (Formerly Brazilian Sith Lord... I think) excellent story Patterns of Betrayal and Redemption. While I didn't particularily like some sequences that can apply to a lot of stories and overall it was a wonderful story that adhered to SW: KOTOR Cannon and above all else it was entertaining. I commend the author and Iam really interested in hearing your responses to his spin. I personally prefer a Male Revan who focuses his relationship on Bastila Shan. The dialogue was true to Star Wars with the Han/Leia bickering, the confrontation between Bastila and her mother was a huge step in me changing my opinion of the girl from stuck up ** to troubled young woman. The tension between the two and eventually the kiss. The capture by Malak and the revelation of Revan's true identity. The motivation to find her and save her only to dicover she doesn't want to be saved. Turning her back to the light by offering her not redemption, but love. I played as both a Male and Female Revan as I played with both a Female and Male Exile and nothing really compared to that plot. I felt like a Knight going off to save aprincess in some medieval fairy tale only to have the princess turn into a freaking dragon and try to bite my head off. I thought the story was much more powerful with a Male Revan but there are differing opinions and that is why we have Fanfiction. The Exile could go either way. My main problem was the attitude of Atris. It felt like she was resentful to the Exile because He had abandoned her and while ti can happen between women and women, It just felt like it was a lover's spat. Clearly the higher ups have spoken and the Exile is a woman and while both plots with either gender were wonderful, I really, Really hated Mical. The Discipline, pfft. Every time I turned around there the guy was, they should have called him the Stalker. |
