Umbrella's Worst Enemy
Linda looked back and forth at the cans she was holding.

'Who really cares what brand it is?' She wondered, before deciding that she did. She closed her eyes, picked one at random, thought some more, and then put the other can in the cart.

She didnt take seriously the warnings she had gotten from the news, the disaster rumors, and really didnt care about them.

Still, she was low on food, and dinner lately meant stopping by the local fast food joint before locking herself in her basement for another nights work. She walked up to the checkout and loaded on her groceries.

Milk, bread, cheese, various fish and chicken products.

Canned pudding, which she stared at for a while. The blonde cashier raised as eyebrow at Linda's probing glance.

"Oh, sorry." She amended, flushing red. She doubted she could explain her odd fascination with the can.

She just found it odd.

Her inquisitive nature had always made it hard for her to keep moving, even when it was inappropirate to linger. Her jogs as a teen had taken an hour a kilometer, watching the neighbors.

She barely went outside anymore.

"Ready for the weekend? TGIF eg?" She joked, trying to draw a smile from the girl. She got one, acompnied by a chukle.

It was then that the noise filled her ears.

A loud screech coming from outside of the store.

She flinched. Sensitive hearing.

"I wonder..." she mumbled, looking at the door.

Behind Linda, a much older man walked up to the cashier, a small basket full of groceries and supplies in hand. Much of the food was either canned and longlasting or easily eaten within a few days; the rest was batteries and a blade sharpening kit.

As he walked up, the blond girl at the register looked over and smiled. "Hey there, Mr Tyler!" she said to him. "Have you heard the news?"

Tyler smiled slightly, indicating his full basket. "I have, and you know me, heh; always prepared." The girl laughed. "Yeah, it's good to be ready anyway. I'll be with you in a sec."

Tyler nodded and glanced at Linda, then started whistling 'Dixie' to himself while looking out the window. Thus he saw the car wreck right when it happened. "Dear Lord!" he exclaimed, putting the basket down and dashing outside.

Linda flipped out her cell phone and franticly dialed 911.

"Hey, wait!" She shouted at the man who had just ran out, Mr. Tyler, the cashier had called him. The operator finally answered, and Linda reported the crash, trying to sound calm.

When an inferno was blazing outside of a building, it was hard.

"There's an ambulance coming!" She shouted over the hubbub the store had become.

"Calm down!" She screamed. Nothing. She let out a groan and ran outside, next to the man.

"Mr. Tyler!" She barked.

"There are paramedics coming, you have to stay clear of the........" She trailed off when she saw what he was looking at.

One of the drivers had raised his head from the dashboard, despite his massive head wound.

"No one could've survived that.........." She breathed.

"Sir, please stay where you are! Paramedics are on thier way!" She shouted to the man. He must've not heard her, because he started fumbling with the car door.

"Sir?" Linda asked, backing away as he raised his eyes to look at her. Her breath caught it her throat. Milk white eyes stared up at her.

"Uh......" Linda was at a loss. Somehow, she was pretty sure that man wouldnt need paramedics.

Lilly was watching the scene unravel across the street at FYE, where she had just gotten out of work. She was wondering why the girlwas freaking out so much until she saw the "thing" approaching her. Without thinking, Lilly ran across the street and grabbed the man by his shirt, when he turned and faced her with a moan escaping his lips, Lilly was shocked to see this creature before her. The man was now biting at her and she snapped out of her stupor and slammed his head against the smashed up car, until his skull caved in and his blood was splattered all over the hood.

A womans scream reverberated off the walls of the stores as the people all looked at her, mouths agape, when the paramedics finally got there.

Lilly walked away, back to her silver Ford Focus across the street, and got in. She could still feel the peoples stares burning into her back when she started the car, and hear the cries of the woman who had witnessed what she had done, but she had to, did they want to get infected?

'Zombies...' Victor thought, staring at the horrid remains. The woman from the store was shouting at him, and he turned to look at her. "911?" he asked, thinking. Then he shook his head. "No, it's too late for that. Look, the rumors were true," and he pointed out at the street. "Pardon me, I need my supplies."

He went back into the store, and saw that the blonde cashier had abandoned her post. "No behavior for a war," he muttered, placing a twenty-dollar bill on the counter. He stuffed his things into a bag, then went back outside and to his truck. He put the items in the cab, and locked both doors, then reached into the bed and pulled out a large, two-edged axe. "You'll want to stay with me, miss," he called out to Linda, hefting his weapon onto his shoulder.

"No kidding." Linda muttered.

"Look, all I know about zombies is that we cant get bitten........ Unless some chainsaw toting, one line spouting 'Ash' clone shows up. Until then..... I think we better head somewhere that wont get us killed." Linda thought for a moment.

"Know of anywhere? I'm drawing a blank. I knew I should've moved to London when I had the chance! It was all in line, but noooooooo I had to stay in this god-damned town." She looked over at the hardwear store across the street.

"Be riiiiiiiiiighht back." She promised, breaking into a sprint, and trying her best to navigate the crowds. It turned out to be a mistake.

More of the dead-eyes were in the shop than the street.

"Oh, damn." She growled. She picked up the first thing she saw, a long metal curtain rod, and left. It wasnt like it was gonna do much for her, considering it wasnt even pointed, but it was enough.

Mr. Tyler was still there, and looking annoyed.

"Yeah, yeah, dont get seperated." She grumbled.

"Forgive me, but I've never been keen on putting my faith in a random stranger, especily when all he's got to work with is a hatchet."

"Hey, get back..." Victor shouted, but to no avail; the woman had already darted off. To the hardware store, which was a good idea.

Then she came back. With a curtain rod and a smartass comment, no less. "First off, this isn't a hatchet, this is an axe." He paused to cleave an oncoming revenant in half, with one smooth downward swing. "Second off, I'm Victor, and third, I'm sure a hatchet will come in handier then a curtain rod." Victor had been in the military, and he didn't have much patience for dawdling.

He considered her question, then snapped his fingers. "My house. It's a ways off, but I've a few guns there, and it's built sturdy. Come on, get in my truck." He gestured at the old Dodge Powerwagon, a massive Detroit beast. "She'll get us there in one piece, don't worry. We should get my son, too."

((FYI, the old powerwagons they made back in the 40s and 50s are really, really big trucks. Not quite semis, but close enough.))

"Hey, it may be a curtain rod, but it makes me feel better. Names arent everything. You ever seen the Hitcher? That family knew HIS name. It didnt stop them from getting chopped up." Linda pointed out.

No less, she got into the car, the curtain rod clutched in her hands.

"Well, at least your place is solid. Mine wont be any help, the walls might as well be plastic wrap. The guns wont help me much. I've only shot one, and I missed my mark by about five feet. Almost knocked me right off my feet......" She seemed to be irritated at that memory, and shrugged it off.

"I wish you the best of luck on finding your son, but if what I've seen on the silver screen is any indication, we shouldnt jinx the idea of finding him in time."

She saw Victor's annoyed look and shrunk a little.

"No offense meant, of course." She said quickly.

"I mean, if we see my little sister on the way, I'm not gonna keep her from getting in. But, if you've even seen ONE movie, you know how these things go......."

She realized how stupid she sounded within a fraction of a second.

"I'll shut up now."

"You talk too much," Victor replied, trying to keep his irritation down. This was a crisis, they couldn't let squabbling get between them.

"I haven't seen many movies," he continued, "don't feel the need. But my son is into that sort of thing, and I know that shotguns and blunt weapons are the way to go. Fortunately I've got a few, and plenty of ammo." He saw a group of zombies, and gunned the large pickup to greater speed, slamming right into them. Blood and guts splattered everywhere, and Victor gave a victorious shout. "Haha, that got 'em!"

They drove by the school, and Victor stopped the truck. "Richard said he was coming here for some project or other today, so I'm going to stop and have a look. If your sister goes to school, too, she might be here as well."

What he really meant, but didn't say aloud, was that Linda was going to go with him whether she liked it or not. Survival was always higher when with others; all the stories about lone heroes single-handedly saving the day were just that. Stories.

Linda almost vomited at the sight of the blood splattering.

"God...." she moaned. "My stomach wasnt built for this sh!t..... Movie are one thing, but, DAMN."

The truck rolled to a stop.

"She wont be here. She's too old. Chances are she's out on buisness. I may be the girl who lives in the basement and programs computers, but she got into corprate pretty fast. 22 and already high on the ladder."

Linda's voice was lighter than she expected.

"But, I may as well come in too. The last thing I want is to get cornered by those things alone." She opened the door and held her curtain rod high.

Maybe it could keep a couple of those things at bay, but she was at a loss to think of how it would really benifit her.

'I shoulda grabbed a hammer' She thought dully, before striding up to the school's doors.

"Time to get eaten by a bunch of zombified students." She said sarcasticly.

Well, she hoped it was sarcasem.

Lilly was already hitting the zombies in front of the two, heading to the school also, well, not exactly for the same reason as the others, but she was headed that way too. When she cleaned her windsheild of the zombies remains for the fifth time, she saw the school, and zombies were dragging themselves through the opened doors.

"Crap." Lilly said as she pulled the tire iron from underneath her passengers seat. She opened her door and was shocked when a truck stopped right behind her and a man with an axe and a woman with a curtain rod jumped out after him.

"Hey your the girl who killed the zombie in front of the store." The girl with the long black hair said, while gripping the curtain rod.

"Yeah..." Lilly replied looking quizzically at the two, "Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I've got some people to save, zombies to kill...Ya know?" With that, Lilly began walking away, disappearing into the mass of zombies.

Linda put her hands on her hips and looked at Victor.

"And I thought *I* was the cocky, smartass b!tch about here!" She grumbled.

"Its hard to be that when someone matches you in cockiness.... Though, as long as I keep up being a smartass, I should make it just fine, right?"

Her comrade stayed silent.

"Yeah, I know, I'm odd." She raised both hands.

"Being a freak was my profession for a long time. But it doenst pay as well as computer programming. Not by much though." She added bitterly.

"Now, do we gotta save her behind? Cause she's gonna get bitten with that 'tude."

Victor groaned. "Yes, I suppose we should go save her," he mumbled, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I need a gun..."

But he hefted his axe and stepped forward to follow the other girl. The zombies advanced, dull eyes filled with murderous hunger, and Victor grinned, oddly enough. "I was in the army!" he shouted, whirling his axe around in an arc of death. "No mere abomination will take ME down!" The old soldier knew he was the most capable person around at the moment, and the shouting was as much to get his blood going as it was to attract the zombies' attention. "Go after her, miss!" he cried to Linda, mowing down the undead hordes. "I'll hold the fort down here!"

He watched as Linda ran off after Lily, and shook his head. "No use waiting around," he said to himself as he moved in that direction, striking down all the zombies in his path. "Gotta stick together, after all."

"Hold down the fort. Hrumph." Linda grumbled.

"I appriciate your expereinces, your training, all that jazz, but this isnt exactly something they teach you. Unless I'm wrong. Which, I hope I am."

She smiled brightly.

"Yep, smartass bitch!" She laughed, before tucking her head in and running after the girl, trying to ignore the zombies. It was an old tatic of hers.

Just ignore what cant be helped.

'Focus on YOUR goals, and things will come much more easily.' She reminded herself.

'And Right now, I gotta stop a cocky teenager from getting eaten. SO not my afternoon's plan.'

"Hey! Kid! Cut it out, dammit!" she screamed. She looked back at Victor. "It would be SO much easier to knock her out an carry her. WAY less stress."

Lilly turned around and saw a wave of black hair coming torwards her, she was screaming, and averting the zombies attention from Lilly, and making them turn on the girl with the curtain rod.

"Shut-up, I know what I'm doing! You're just going to get yourself killed!" Lilly shouted as she made her way up the step and into the school, wacking a male zombie in the face and flattening his nose, he fell to the ground with a thud, and some of the other zombies jumped on top of his and began devouring his flesh. Lilly was sickened by the sight, but she had to move on, class was in session today, and she doubted that the teachers knew how to handle zombies.

Lilly had skipped for work, and right about now, she felt completely terrible because of recent events.

Umbrella's Worst Enemy
Linda ducked out of the way of another zombie, whipping her long hair out of the way of its claw-like hands. She snorted once, glaring at the girl.

"I'm gonna MYSELF killed? How old are you? Fifteen? Sixteen? You look like Miss America, Not Michelle Rodreigez. So, blondie, here's the deal. You stay with us, you dont get eaten. Got it?"

She paused for a moment, before adding.

"FYI. The position of cocky bitca is already taken." With that, she charged up the steps, dodged zombies, impaling one paticularly rotted one, and looked for any sign of human life.

"Nothing."

Nothing, that is, until a shrill scream rung through the air.

Lilly turned to she the woman still following her, and sighed, did she hear the scream also? Lilly walked to her and placed her hands on her hips.

"I'm seventeen, and I know this school. Just because I'm younger doesn't mean I'm stupid...Oh, and you can be the Cocky bitcha, because I don't want it. I just want to get the surviors out of here, so let's work together, the scream sounded like it came from the second floor, the bio-lab, maybe?" Lilly began to asend the steps to the left and put in, "By the way, my names Lilly, nice to meet you."

Linda's demeanor suddenly became pleasent, an odd contrast to her previous mood.

"Well, as long as you're not moving in on my position." She said brightly.

"I'm Linda Stine. Computer programmer and self-proclaimed smartarse." She took a low bow.

"Wonderful to make your aquintence, Lilly. Now, shall we go stop someone from getting eaten?"

"Oh sure, introduce yourself to HER, but not to me," Victor grumbled, having finally cut his way past the hordes outside. "Y'know, it's a good thing these bastards can't run," he told the girls. "We'd be in a world of hurt if they could." His axe was covered in gore and zombie remains, but Victor himself appeared fine.

He was about to say something else, when a breathless shout came from the hallway. "Hey-HEY! You there! Don't shoot!" Footsteps sounded, and a tall young man appeared. "Oh, thank go- dad?! Dad, you're alive!" With a sob the boy threw himself into Victor's arms.

"Richard..." Victor replied, overcome with emotion for a second. Then he shook his head and got a hold of himself. "This is no time for a reunion, son," he said sternly, taking Rich by the shoulders and pushing him to arms' length. "We'll talk later, ok? We've got to gather up as many clean survivors as we can." Rich blinked back tears, but nodded and squared his shoulders. "You're right, dad, I'm sorry. It... it was just such a relief to see you alive and all..."

Victor smiled and clapped his son on the shoulder. "Me too, son, me too." Then he turned to the two girls. "Well, we've got our first survivor. Let's go find more, shall we?"

"Hey, as long as I dont get bit, I'm cool." Linda admitted.

"And, yeah, I didnt introduce myself to you." She shruged. It never came to mind. The last thing I honestly remember is hauling myself outta the truck and Miss America here playing zombie hunter."

A thought struck her and she turned around, eyes fixed on Richard.

"None of us are carrying guns......."

She mused, tapping her finger against the curtain rod she was holding.

"Why did you yell 'Dont Shoot'?"

Panic rose in her, only to be beaten back down.

'Now isnt the time to go chicken, Linda. Do go little kid on them now'

"What happened here?"

Richard swallowed. "The p-police came by... well, I think they were the police. They had guns and uniforms and tactical gear... They came in through the other entrance and just started... starting shooting things up!" He shuddered again. "Anything that moved, zombie or not, got shot at until it stopped moving. It was horrible."

Victor's face tightened into a grim scowl, and he gripped his axe harder. "They couldn't have been police," he replied, "the police are trained to NOT shoot on sight, and to give fair warning before opening fire in the first place. The military wouldn't, either, I don't believe we've been declared a quarantined area as of yet..."

He thought for a second, taking advantage of the momentary quiet. Then he snapped his fingers. "I know! They might have been mercenaries, and mercs are sloppy. So there's a chance they could have left some hardware behind." He smiled slightly. "And we could do with some hardware rigt now."

Rich brightened up. "Hey yeah, they were a little hasty. And speaking of guns, the principal keeps a Colt .45 in his desk. For like, terrorists or something. And he wasn't here today, so I bet we could break in and get it."

"Thats great! You know, besides the fact that one, maybe two of us can shoot worth a damn, we get to add B&E to our list of charges once things calm, down, of course, thats only if some god-damn mercs dont find us!"

Linda, as those assembled probably had already guessed, was a worrier.

"And, to think, I could be on the other side of the world right now, enjoying the English climate. Not like it matters NOW!"

Her instinct as a worrier was conflicting with her serious nature, cultivated from years of working with machines.

"So, lemme get this straight. We get shot by some crazy guys who hate us for NO reason at all, or we get eaten alive."

She took a few deep breaths and looked around at several irriated faces.

"What? Just making sure I got it striaght. This is gonna make one helluva blog post once we're out."

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go to the the office and get the gun! I'm sure we'll find others on the way!" Lilly smiled and tugged Linda, her newly found friend, by the arm through the hallway to the right. The floor was slippery with blood, and bodies littered either side of the hall, but not all of them were half-eaten, some of them looked as if they were just people lying there, but then you saw the blood staining their shrits from the bullets that had before been shot.

"Oh, my God..." Lilly gasped, as the stink of rotting corpse filled her nostrils and made her gag.

Linda bowed her head and crossed herself.

"Poor bastards." She muttered.

"Just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

She folded her hands.

"May god give them rest and us the courage of Samsom."

She ran her fingers through her hair, before adding, with a grim expression.

"We're gonna need it just to make it thorugh the hour."

She took a deep breath, crossed herself again, and smiled weakly.

"Now, Richard. To the office?"

Richard went pale when the corpses came into view, and couldn't stop himself from vomiting; all he could do was stumble back a few yards, to do it in relative privacy. Victor, though, only scowled deeper. "Only mercenaries could be so heartless," he growled. "Who on earth would be willing to pay for such... such..." He couldn't finish the question, so enraged was he.

Rich came back after a few seconds, pale and trembling. "Uhh... the office is... down there..." He pointed off down the hall with one hand, holding his stomach with the other. "On the right..."

Lilly placed a cool hand on Richard's shoulder, and gave it a comforting squeeze. She didn't know what to say, some of her friend were half-eaten on the ground also, and there was nothing either of them could do about it.

The group slowly continued down the hall and into the office, but upon entering the office, they heard a creaking behind the door...

Victor did not hesitate; with a low growl he raised his axe high above his head and swung it down into the door with all his might. Inside, a lone zombie stood in the middle of the room; upon seeing Victor, it groaned and lurched forward. Another mighty cleave of the axe, and it was down.

"Now, about that gun..." he said, walking around to the desk. He tried each drawer; they were all unlocked but one. "No time for a key," he told the others, smashing the drawer open with the haft of his axe. Inside, beneath some papers, was a large .45 Colt Single Action Army revolver, or .45 SAA for short, and a box of ammunition. "A Peacemaker," Victor commented admiringly, picking up the weapon. "Looks like a magnum version, too. Heh, I always knew the principal here had good taste."

He checked the cylinders; it was loaded, and the safety was on. With a quick flick of his wrist he deactivated the safety, testing the load. Then he nodded, flicked the safety back on, and stuck it in his pocket. The ammo, about ten rounds, went into another pocket. "I'd better keep this, since I'm probably the only one strong enough or experienced enough to handle it properly," he told the others. "Now, let's move on, shall we?"

Lilly looked to Richard and smiled, "Your Dad can be kind of cool at times."

Victor looked to were Lilly and Richard were standing and replied, "I try." With that everyone followed the man out the door and into the hallway, where they entered the school was now where a mob of zombies were hanging out.

"We have to find another way out." Lilly whispered hoping everyone heard her, she really didn't want to put her zombie beating skills to use again. Well, at least not for awhile.

"Well, theres a back door..." Richard replied, though Lilly already knew this, for she went to this school also...when she felt like it.

"That means leaving the truck behind." Linda put in coming up behind the other three. As Victor looked at the zombies that kept filing through the door, he sighed.

"We'll have to find another vehicle, I don't feel like letting any of you die today. In other words, it's our only chance." Victor had taken on the role of savior apparently, and Lilly looked confusedly from Victor to Richard, and the to Linda. She looked a little unsure about the whole thing, but it being their only chance for survival, she kept quiet.

"Well, let's go, there's nothing else here." Lilly sounded a little sad as she continued down the hallway, the others looking at her quite quizzically, Lilly had shown the doubt that they all had feared, the doubt of survival. Yes, there was chance that they would survive, but the only thing they could base their survival theories on were movies, and those were only movies, what if they didn't make it?

"We're gonna be fine." Linda said quickly, trying to assure the younger girl.

"We're perfectly capable. AND, we've got a gun. Have you ever played Silent Hill? Huh? None of them get guns to begin with, and we're all smarter."

She laughed nervously.

"Yeah, I'm a geek, but I'm a /computer/ geek. Computer geeks can at least figure things out, other than Star Wars."

She looked around sadly.

"I graduated from here, you know." She said dully.

"I remember so many things........ Once, I spray-painted the walls.......... Suspended for three weeks. My dad, of course, didnt give a damn, so I just hung out on in my room.......... Thats another wound, for another time." She added, sighing.

"Now. We split? f those mercs come back........."

Her words were punctuated by a loud banging noise.

She slapped her forehead.

"I am SO a jinx." she growled.

"So, we run?"

((OOC: Hey, y'all? I don't appreciate it when others control my characters, ok? Especially putting words into their mouths. So please don't do that, ok?))

At the noise, Victor whipped the gun from his pocket, thumbing the safety off and bringing it up to a ready position. "Stay back, all of you!" he commanded, stepping forward. The sound had come from around the corner...

But it was just another group of zombies, knocking over some loose lockers. "Thank God," Victor muttered, putting the revolver back and hefting his axe again. He didn't have much ammo for the big revolver, and he didn't want to waste it when his axe would do just as good a job.

"It's ok," he called around the corner when he'd disposed of the group, "it was just zombies." He turned, and noticed a few objects on the ground. Handguns, small ones to be sure, but still guns. Plenty of ammo, too. "Mercs, after all. Sloppy to the last." Richard came around the corner, still pale, but a determined look on his face. "It's a good thing you made me take those shooting lessons, eh dad?" he commented as he picked up one of the guns. A 9mm, to be sure, but still a gun.

((OOC: All ya had to do was ask, my freind. I'm sure we're cool with it. Right everyone? Now, in this post, I hope its alright, and a pretty basic assumption, that everyone is fighting, or most anyway. Is that cool?))

Linda felt her stomach heave, and her throat tighten against the wave of nausea she felt.

"Oh, lord." She moaned. Death and decay radiated off the zombies in waves. It hit her like a bag of cement, almost bowling her over.

Blood and vomit and pain.

The scents filled the air until she felt lightheaded. She realized it was *her* vomit, and forced back tears.

She convulsed again, heaving foreward, vomit spilling on the floor in front of her.

She had only smelled this much blood and vomit and decay one other time.

Her head raised slowly, and she lunged foreward, spearing a zombie male in the gut. Seeing the lack of effects, she pulled it out again, this time going for the head. Decay had destroayed this one. Its skull cracked with little force.

'A Fire Inside.' Her mind thought dully as she spun around, catching around zombie. She rammed the metal pole through the neck.

'Twice is too many. Much too many.'

She threw herself into one of the decaying things, slamming it against the wall, and ducking out of the way as it came back at her.

'Blood and vomit and screams.'

She finally saw what was going on. Five of the things remained.

"Damn." She grunted. She had brought down two, one was on the floor, but obviously still mobile.

She found herself being back into that one, trying to figure out which one to go after next.

'You're in a helluva a hole now, Stine. Six Feet Under, truth be told.' She realized.

'No where to go but foreward.'

She was slowly regaining her senses, the fire was slowly running low on fuel, and her mind was racing again.

'So dead, so dead, so dead, sodeadsodeadsodeadsodead'

"Help!"

Lilly was looking around for a possible way out, but only to be surrounded even more. The undead were closing in on her and with only a tire iron to help her she could only take out one at a time. Lilly began to thrash wildly, and discovering that she could not handle what was all around her. She began to yell as the blood was shoting everywhere, and the zombies were falling to the ground. As she bashed their heads in she made her way down the hall, until she got the the algerbra classroom.

Shots from an unknown gun fired into the air.

"Damn useless mercenaries!" A girl charged out of the algebra room in front of Lily, with two pistols making meat of the zombies head. She turned to Lily with a glare, and pointed her left handgun directly at her head.

"You alive?" The brunette growled? The blonde girl nodded in concordance.

"Good. Duck." She jumped to the side and Lyra fired two rounds into the undead skull behind Lily's head.

Lilly stood up full and glared at the brunette," Who did you say you were?" The brunette only growled back and went after the others still enclosed in the sea of undless zombies.

" Don't answer, that's fine." Lilly groaned as more zombies came her way, she wondered if everyone else was still alive.

Lyra pumped another few zombies full of lead as the girl asked her questions. She glanced over.

'Damn, the kid can fight.' Her moment of unawareness brought the undead closer. She cried out and delivered a sound roundhouse to the things face. Her right gun ran dry, she clicked out the clip and shoved another in from the interior of her coat.

The closest zombie was soon headless, and only two remained in the section of hallway. The girl quickly smashed in the face of one, and Lyra shot the other down.

"And to answer your question, I am Special Agent Johnson from the FBI." She dropped the clip from her left gun, and reloaded in a mater of seconds. "And you are?"

"Lilly. I guess you can calll me Lil. This is my highschool, and in case you didn't notice their are other people alive, so don't kill them!" Lilly was in the process of bashing in another overweight man when she heard another scream from the agents way. "God, people should really eat more healthy food." The overwieght man fell with a burst of blood as his skull gave way, the bones crashed together, and the disgusting sound of skull against stone floor reverberated from the wall to wall.

Lilly sighed, "I hate zombies..." and then proceeded into where the agent had vanished to find her friends.

The heavy revolver wouldn't do well in the press of undead, so Victor put it away and wielded his axe, swinging every which way. The zombies fell rapidly, and he and his son soon reached Lily and Johnson. "You're not from around here," the old soldier said to the government agent. "Who sent you? Or is that a secret?"

Linda tried not to laugh.

"Of COURSE its a secret!" She said finally.

"She's a Speacial Agent." She said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Thanks for saving my life, by the way." She added, bounding up next to the woman.

"So, you're with the FBI? Thats cool. I dont speek to anyone from the goverment often, I mean, its kinda of expected, seeing where I'm from."

After a second of mildly anoyed silence, she started talking again.

"I've only spoken to the cops once, but thats another story. I dont really talk much to people, because when I do I just keep talking and talking and talking, and it anoys people, and they leave the resturaunts where I worked, and I get fired again, and then I have to find a new one. Its not like I have an issue getting a job waitressing somewhere, but I have to be careful with the jobs i do have, because when I talk I just keep talking, and I dont know when I'm running on, usually it takes me about five minutes to.........." She trailed off.

"I'm doing it now, arent I?" She asked sheepishly.

"Well, whatever, but, I kinda wanna know if you're here to help us or find something or kill us, cause either way, its better to know at the beginning. I've watched enough to movies to know that its always one of the three."

She finished this spout of words with a huge smile and an expectent look.

"Trust me, as long as your not those stupid mercenaries, I'm here to help." Lyra spoke after a moment.

"Just call me Lyra, not special agent or anything. I was sent in to investigate reports of 'unexplained undead phenomena' I guess this is what they meant. Those stupid jerks actually sent me in as a joke." She saw their confused looks. "Oh don't worry I'm a good agent, I won't kill you, unless your a zombie. It's nice to meet more humans."

She held out her hand to the woman. "Mind introducing yourselves?"

Linda grinned and started pumping Lyra's hand up and down.

"My name is Linda Stine." She said happily.

"Awesome to meet ya, Lyra! I'm glad you're not gonna kill us. Hell, if ya had had here a second later, I WOULD be a zombie!"

She was still shaking Lyra's hand as she added.

"I'm sorry you had to deal with this. Hey, maybe you'll get promoted after this!"

"My name's Victor Tyler," Victor said with a nod, "and this is my son, Richard." Richard waved.

"I'm a veteran of the military, and I know how to handle a gun. Rich here can shoot pretty well, too. So unless you two are holding out on us," and he glanced at Linda and Lilly, "there's only three of us who can handle a gun with any skill, and my axe is the only real melee weapon we have."

He paused, to listen for movement from the halls, then continued. "Provided we can avoid the mercs or whoever, if they're even still here, I suggest we move quickly. Any survivors will find us, we shouldn't waste more time then necessary looking for them." He sighed. "It may sound harsh, but our main goal is to survive, am I right?"

"Yes. That is the objective. The mercenaries were sent in by the department higher than us. Somehow they got wind of the events and decided to send in their own warriors. These guys are heartless killers. In all honesty I'm not even sure that they're human." She looked intently at Victor "After this initial fighting, any survivors we meet may or may not be infected. We'll have to be carefull of who we associate with. I'm assuming that you are all safe. We should find somewhere safer though. Away from the mercs."

She scanned the hall quickly. "It's a little too quiet in here don't you think?"

"Quiet? Just wait, this always happens in the movies, and video games." Everyone looked at Lilly as if she were an idiot, and she sighed.

"O.k, I guess you guys don't get the movie and video game reference...This is all we have to work with! Have any of you ever lived through a real live zombie invasion!!! I don't think so, so the only reference we have is movies and video game, which normally the people do not really survive....We have to be smarter then them! Are we all going to die!?!" Lilly was breating hard now and put her head into her hands, this kind of thing happened a lot to her, she was prone to panic attacks.

"I...need...to go...outside." Lilly began to walk down the hall while the others watched her, but she came to a halt as the windows to the doors became dark...someone, or something rather, was outside them. Lilly stared as she paced back to the others, still gasping for air.

"...Guys?..."

Lyra pulled out her guns, and aimed at the doors. Not only the door windows blackened, but the side windows too. Lyra's eyes widened, and her guns dropped back to her sides.

Mercenaries.

And alot of them.

"Run." Lyra whispered.

"Run?" Victor snorted, drawing his gun in one hand and hefting his axe in another. "Running is for cowards! And I'd rather die in a gunfight with my wits about me then because I was too slow to avoid some virus!" He peered out the window, and laughed. "How many zombies are there...?" he asked, half to himself.

"Dad, there's a lot out there... shouldn't we...?" Richard asked, sounding nervous.

"No, son, this isn't the time to run away. Stand with me," Victor commanded.

((OOC: The mercs left, y'all, I've been trying to say that IC for a while now. And they weren't mercs, per se, I have ideas for them so I'd like it if y'all left them alone, OK? Please?))

((OOC: Yeah sure have fun!!! I'm sorry to say I totally was just wingin it with the mercenary thing anyways...*shame*))

Lyra choked a little. This was her chance, to prove to those desk hounds that she could make it without being in an office. She smirked as she raised her guns again and stepped forward beside the veteran.

The glass in the windows began to crack under the pressure of all the zombies pushing. Her smile grew a little bit. This was going to be interesting.

"This is where I hide in a locker, am I right?" Linda asked.

All of her new-found comrades returned this with an annoyed look.

"Right, right, fine." She raised the curtain rod like a lance.

"Time to fight."

She blinked a couple times, hearing the glass break.

"We're screwed. But, oh well."

A tiny smile spread across her face.

"Lets see if we cant trump ol' Rodregeiz on this, eh?"

Lilly smiled, "We're not screwed, not yet." She gripped her tire iron, waiting for what was to come, and then she remembered somthing.

"Doesn't this school have fire escapes on the second floor?" Lilly turned to Richard waiting for him to answer her, when zombies slowly stumbled into the hallway, Lilly glared at the undead creatures with a sly smile.

"Well?" Lilly was still waiting for an answer as she began to get into her fighting stance, but the zombies were now almost upon them, Lilly began to run at the first two zombies and in a timely fashion, bashed ones head into the lockers, and started beating the other with her blunt weapon, more were coming now, and it seemed their was a wave of undead, rotting corpses, crashing down on them, as everyone joined in the fray.
