GreeceTopic: The Allen-Rinali Issue So! What about the relationship between the two youngest exorcists, Allen (15-16) and Rinali(16-17)? Do they have something beyond friendship and/or companionship? Oh, yes, they do!.:CANON PROOVES ONLY:. .:SPOILERS:. At the beginning, they had nothing special. They were just two exorcists, two co-fighters, two friends. However, from the third volume already, we see some kind of deeper affection. * From Rinali towards Allen: Countless! Apart from being super-friendly and caring about her friends, for they are her "world" (she says so herself to Allen), Rinali shows special affection towards Allen. In ch 2 of vol 3, while being injected with anesthetic from Komui's robot, Rinali wakes up to the brick of time to save herself from its attack. Her first words are "I heard Allen's voice. Is he back?". Just woke up, being in danger and she asks about Allen. Moreover, according to her words, it was Allen's voice that woke up her. Remember, Komui, her own *brother* was screaming all the time "Rinali!", but his voice couldn't reach her and wake her up, like Allen's did. Plus, she didn't hesitate *kicking* her brother to free Allen from the robot. Oh, my! The next time came just after this, with Rinali taking care of Allen. She was the one who was taking care of him (and he wasn't the only one who was wounded by the robot, River was, too). The next AllenxRinali moment was in the rewinding town, with Miranda. Rinali particularly saved Allen from the exploison of the self-destruction of the Akuma and when he became mad at her "Why did you stop me?" she slapped him "Because we're friends...!" with tears in her eyes. To me, it looked like Rinali couldn't stand him being lost forever. Big, deal, you may say, Rinali does this for everyone. Yes, but she knew Allen for only three or four months. He became that precious to her in such a few time? Rinali's "grudge" against Allen for that moment kept some long time, during which Rinali confessed him the reason: "I want to fight next to you!" meaning as an equal partner. Not to mention that she said that she hates that cursed eye of his, because it makes him taking all the weight and risking his life. In other words, she's worried about him, about the world he sees with his eye. When Allen questions her care about them (Allen, Rabi, Kanda, the Bookman) she says that her world is her friends. Notice, that in the puzzles for that chapter, the centric ones are the ones with Komui and Allen. About Komui, it's understandable, he's her brother. And yet, Allen has the second biggest after him. Why? And why not someone else, like Rabi or Kanda? In vol5, Rinali sees for the first time that destructed place in her dream. And while the whole scene makes her teary, seeing Allen's corpse (it's his, we see his red hand) makes her scream in agony. After that, she said when Allen's arm suddenly started to fall apart: "Your arm is a little fragile, isn't it?". Worry again for him. During the fight with Suman and later, Rinali clearly shows that her affection towards Allen is special. She's thinking to leave a girl that's close to death to save him, Rinali, who would always ready to help the others! After that, no matter how much exhausted they both are, she keeps pushing Rabi to go and find Allen. When Allen's "death" is announced, Rinali is rightfully crushed. Actually, so devastated that she cannot even speak. She just cries and cries. Moreover, she just keeps staring before her and into the vacant, even after she learns that he's alive, just because they (she) left him back in China. She doesn't even care if she upsets Rabi, who brakes a window, irritated from her worry towards Allen (Hints of Rabi's interest towards Rinali here). While fighting the level 3 Akuma, Rinali's mind is always on Allen. She started this fight affected by him, inspired by his will, to go on and on. She thinks of him smiling, fighting, the two opposite faces of him, she knows them well, even though she doesn't know him for long. "Allen, I have decided to fight." is her main saying. It almost sounds that she'll do it for his sake apart from only her world's sake. Note here, when she thinks her world, once again, Allen's image takes a lot of space in her "world". Now, more than Komui does. Her affection on him grows. When Allen returns from China, Rinali is again unconsious. Allen sits close to her and once she wakes up, she immediately express her affection by placing her hand on his cheek. She didn't show the same affection towards Rabi, when he had saved her from the crystal after her fight with the lever 3 Akuma and she had almost died! On the contrast, she comforts Allen aboout Suman, saying that it wasn't his fault and she says "Welcome back, Allen!" a phrase that means a lot to him. * From Allen towards Rinali: Fewer, but still strong. At first, Rinali was for him another friend. When she was getting close to him, he was just either blushing (Allen couldn't have had a relationship with a girl before, it was Crooss who had them!)or simply doing the obvious: Answer with just a friendly way. When she had hugged him, he blushed and patted her back. Big deal. He started to become really fond of her after that slap she had given him when she saved him. From then, his manners towards her started to be more boy/girl than friend/friend. Later on, and while Rinali becomes more and more attached to him, Allen stops acting immature (he grows up into many matters) and slowly responds to her affection. That dream he saw when he "died" was a strong proof. He was close to death, looking like a puppet with empty sockets, unable of any feeling and yet, when he saw Rinali crying, he expressed sorrow and angst for her. Even though he had no idea where he was, whether he had died or not, his only thought was: "I have to go to her". He was trying to go close, to comfort her, worried for her crying. When the surface was being covered by ice, he was screaming out to her, and he had obdained again his human form. While Rinali was fighting with Eshi, Allen heard her voice from km away: She was close to Japan, he was in China underground. The eye, which brought him Eshi's joy of murdering, couldn't prevent Rinali's thought towards him. When he first detected the Akuma's desire, his thought went immediately to Rinali. During his own fight with the lever 3 Akuma and before he obdained his true form, he thought about all the people he had met and were important to him. Naturally, Rinali was there as well, but she was almost in the middle and in front of everyone else, more than even Cross, his teacher for three years. And Rinali and him know each other for fewer than half a year! When Allen had gone to Japan and saw Rinali waking up, he was close to her, just like she was close to him when Komui's robot had attacked. And when she stroke his cheek, he didn't blush, he didn't feel uneasy, he returned the gesture by placing his hand, the left with the Innocence, on her own, he didn't look away, but, touched by her affection (and realising it, at last) he cried. "I'm back..." Now, in ch 110, he was helping her to climb the stairs, by holding her hand and guiding her, like a knight, a noble. He even offered her a piggy ride on his back to prevent her from tiring her legs, when, back in the HQ, he was blushing just because she was smiling at him. This only enforces my own view of them together: Allen's true form is called "CROWNED Clown", crowned like a prince, a king. The Heart of Innocence has royal decoration on it and assuming Rinali has it, it makes them look like King and Queen. Do I sound too romantic? Maybe. But, this is my way of thinking. And if you think that all the above isn't enough, take into consideration that D.Gray-man is an action/adventure/fantasy shounen (for boys) manga and the romantisism is very slight in this type of manga. If it was shojo (for girls) I bet they would already had an affair! So? What do you think? | #1 Mar 13th 2007, 7:33am . Edited Mar 13th 2007, 2:46pm

GreeceNo offence, but why, oh why people make two characters yaoi when they're obviously not? The excuse "I love these characters, so I make them being together" is rude towards these characters! If you like them, keep them IC! Otherwise, you like them because of the image, not the personality. Kanda is handsom, but rude and unfriendly, for example. And Rabi is obviously in love with Rinali. In the manga, there is no doubt about this. I'll start with a topic "Character Bashing in FanFiction". There are countless things to say! * Now, about the AllenxRinali, the new chapter have even more proofs. In 111, Allen saves Rinali piercing the "tease" Tiki had almost killed him with. He even threats Tiki that he'll kill him! Allen, who didn't shoot Rhodo for killing that Akuma, even he had his anti-Akuma weapon on her head, who "didn't become an exorcist to kill humans" as he said in vol 4. When Rinali's in danger, he doesn't hesitate threatening Tiki with death! Later, he jumps towards Tiki to attack and the one he addresses "don't worry, I'll take him down" is Rinali. Rabi and the finder were also there, but he addressed just her. And another thing: When Rabi thinks "There are two 'exceptions'" Allen and Rinali look like yin and yang, black and white, girl and boy. Both different, yet similar. In the end, insert slight RabixRinali in this ch, when Rabi comforts Rinali. (The bookman's successor is failing in his goal to remain unattached! More for this in another topic.) | #3 Mar 22nd 2007, 4:56am . Edited Mar 22nd 2007, 5:06am
