Topic: The Legend of the Crown Clown???
...Um, yeah...

'bout Allen's newly named innocence...

It says it's from a legend,

anybody know of it?

No but maybe it was what killed the earl the first time around!

Some people think so. Well, it's not really legend, but it's theory. This is copied from a forum I go to:

When Earl said that Allen looks like the white clown that follows Auginiste i think he meant this: I found this in wiki.

Joey, the Auguste and the Ringmaster

"In clown duos, Clowns often rely on the Joey & Auguste framework, or Manipulator/Victim. The Joey & Auguste Framework is often used widely in such comic works as Looney Toons. Simply put, the two clowns, who for whatever reason are competing for survival, desperately rely on each other; without each other, they live a meaningless, and perhaps even more perilous adventure. For example, when Sylvester finally catches Tweety Bird (or thinks he does) he becomes so ridden with guilt that he nearly commits suicide.

The Ringmaster relationship is the addition of an ur-manipulator, or ur-victim to this chemistry. This often takes the form of a mutual enemy or nemesis. An example of this situation might be as follows:

This is an example of a ringmaster situation. Clowns in the ringmaster position are often character clowns, where Joey and Auguste duos are typically made up of a Whiteface Clown and an Auguste."

Allen lives for the Akumas and Earl is the only one to provide him akumas.

Well, that's the theory I go by. Some people say crowned clown is based off of some christian legend. But I don't know for sure.

Congratulations for your research! I honestly believe that you are right. If you think about it, it is a dead cycle: Allen lives to kill Akuma, the Earl provides him with Akuma, but if Allen kills the Earl, the Akuma will dissapear, therefore, Allen has no reason to live. So, if he wants to live, the Earl must live as well.

It's yet another reason of the "gray" color. Bravo.

omg, someone actually agrees with me! Thanks, Greece!

The truth is, I was wondering about that line of the Earl's. I couldn't really understand it, no matter how much I'd try to remember where I had read the Augustine name again, I couldn't. (It was for a project in the University some years ago... Cartoon culture or something. Oh, well...)

So, this theory makes Allen a controversial hero. If he saves the world, it takes away his reason to live. Like if Sylvester(Allen) eats Tweety(the Earl) he has no role, no reason for existance. A tragic hero, even.

*nodds*

Poor Allen... There doesn't seem to be a way for him to win this... unless he and the Earl reach a draw, and they both die. Grr... why can't he just find a new purpous in life? Or... maybe he will...?

Maybe... but Allen's been so focused on Akuma... I don't think he even knows of the possibility of them two being together. Considering how much he's concentrating on the Earl right now. But maybe later he'll see it.

why will they all die they're so cool TT-TT

Because it seems that's the reason why they were created from the first place, like Rhodo herself said. And notice, they were *created*, not *born*. The Earl created them and he does nothing for a reason to help *himself*. He uses the Noahs as tools, like the Akuma. The "family" IMO, is said sarcastically or ironically. The ultimate of the Noah's for the Earl, will be their death. No hard feelings for him, he's a monster.

The Earl's a phsyco, that's all I gotta say. The ultimate ending would be if the Noahs grew some brains and turned on the Earl. The fat old man would get what was coming to him...

Well... My theory for the end is through rumors so it may skeptical but it's this...

In Japan they have the finest technology and accomplished more than needed,

Thus, they're near perfection.

They have everything.

No farther reason to live for...

They're nearing an end of a dream.

Or so I've heard...

+ there's a lot of train sucides from business man because they feel they're life is worthless.

I think, when I see most RPG/Adventure/fantasy mangas, all various themes and catagory leads to one great theme.

Find A Reason to Live.

The vast adventure jolts our imagination.

It makes us want to live for it.

Find a adventure like in the real world.

Make the dream story true.

Reach for the impossible!

Well... this is a D.Gray-man board but I must comply...

Even Naruto has a theme to "Find A Reason to Live."

Trust me.

Grab any manga and read it, later on this idea will apply one way or the other.

So that's what it means! I looked at it and went 'What?' the first time I saw it. Looking up at wikipedia was fruitless. Good job for finding the answer, and thanks for posting it for the rest of us!

The theories we have might not be correct, but it's what we go on. I can never know what is true unless they've already said it... so many twists and turns in DGM! But that's what makes it interesting.

Wikipedia articles about anime/manga are written by fans and they are not reliable, for they contain opinions , not facts . It's definitely a place where a lot of nonsense are written. Don't rely on it.

True...

But some opinions do matter...

After...

Nothing is for sure.

Nothing is impossible.

Nothing is sometimes... a something....

So yes...

Some what un-reiable....

But indeed some what useful...

+ It's fun looking up random facts in wikipedia~

Wikipedia can be startlingly accurate at times though.

But it also has its drawbacks, there was a time I missed the DGM chapters so I checked on wikipedia and some idiot wrote that Kanda has a fiancee. Although I was a bit skeptical, it also made me go WHAT DID I MISS?!?! and I jumped right back into catching up with the manga. Luckily as of yet, no other anime/manga article I have read faced this problem.

Outlet of Shadows

the crown clown represents his TWO reasons for living.

1) purifying the souls of the Akuma (yay level four! he was cool)

2) protect humans from Akuma and (maybe?) themselves. coughNoahcough

The Noah were created from humans. My reference is Skin's flashback to his 'creation'.

but somehow i think Rhode comes from the very nightmares of humanity.

this is true... 9 out of 11 times.

I do not see this 'Reason to live' theme in Switch or a few other certain manga. (can't remember its name because my friend lost it TT_TT)

There was a legend about a poor boy who was a juggler and became a monk and during christmas time he was too poor to afford a gift to offer a statue of the virgin mary. Instead of giving a physical offering he gave a gift of his juggling skills instead, performing for the statue. The other monks around him chastised him and said that it was unholy to be performing such vain acts. However the statue came to life and "crowned" him so to speak saying that he was worthy of being a saint to god and that as long as he lived he would have a good life and after he died he would have a seat near crist or something. I'm not entirely sure that was how the story went but considering most of the original medieval story was lost. There was a french adaptation written by another author in 1892, dont take my complete word this was all sort of hatched together off of basic information I gleaned from various searches including variations on the crowned clown.
