DeathnoteBoy4495Even though I absolutely hated it when L died (I ranted and ate nothing but sweetsfor 3 weeks), I must admit, his death was very sentimental and touching. I just love the 5 panel scene where he slowly closes his eyes; though I must say, he appears to be wearing eyeliner... :o| #2 Apr 22nd 2007, 11:46pm

Light-kunThe Poetry of Light's Death and why it is the ONLY logical conclusion:-The first chapter holds ENDLESS forshadowing of Light's death. -Reflecting on Ryuk's statement (paraphrased), "If you [Light] kill off all the criminals, then you will be the only one left." LIght dies of a Heart Attack at Ryuk's hands. This is symbolic to how Light judges people and punishing them with heart attacks. Ryuk judges Light, and Light dies just as all criminals die at Kira's hands. -The fact the Near uses the Death Note to insure victory is remniscent of Light's use of the Note when finding out Raye Penber's name. -Matsuda being a saving grace for Near is important because it fully proves Light perfectly wrong in calculating his plan. @ He believes the Task Force is unimportant. @Mikami renounces dedication to God, disclaiming Kira. (Though this is supposedly forced.) @His state of being finally crashes as he goes far beyond phychological imbalance. Admitting to being Kira and claiming to create a perfect world, he is judged as a mass murderer. |

DeathnoteBoy4495Rem's death, and how/why it was so ironic.Rem killed L (who doesn't know that?) in an attempt to save Misa. Thus, she fell into the same trap as Jealous in which she fell in love with a human. | #4 Apr 24th 2007, 12:22pm

Light-kunActually, her death was very ironic. She said that while she liked Light, she would never kill herself for him. By saving Misa and killing both Watari and L, Rem also saves Light. Plus, it was caculated that this would happen by Light when in Vol. 6 after revealing herself to Misa, Rem stated, " . . . and Light's plan does not include me killing L." As a matter of fact, she is a brilliant chracter to figure out Light's line of thinking....truly cool. ANother thing on Light. Let us assume that L is greater than N. Also assume that Light is equal to L. Therfore, Light is greater than N. The fact that N, someone less intelligent than Light, outwits him to some extent is also another irony in his death. The idea that Light is Kira who is God, but God is not "perfect."*** ***: NOTE! The Almight God or any member of the trinity is not applied to in this statement. Also note that in manga, Light does not call himself God, but that he wants to be God. He would only be God if he kills Near....according to manga which trumps Anime as canon. |

Light-kunIrony in L's death:In dying, he confirms that Light is Kira. He is beaten by a single fact: Only one truth prevails, but the irony lies in the fact he is misled by a false rule. L never actually beat Light. It is like a game of Chess were you keep putting the opponent in check when out of no where, you are mated. More if I think of it. |
|
OokariI find Light's death rather sad. It seems sort of like he lost his mind near the end. I don't think Light would have begged for Ryuk not to kill him before, if only because of his self-composure. However, it seems like later on, he loses quite a lot of his abilities. His acting gets worse, and his ability to plan out events almost perfectly gets worse, among others. It almost seems like L's death is what caused Raito's death, because it caused Raito to let down his guard and allow his skills to become rusty. That's why I think Near isn't as smart as Raito, Raito just became more arrogant later on, which is what caused his demise. As for L's death, I think that he lost because he trusted too much, or lost his motivation. If he hadn't let Raito touch the Death Note, he would have been perfectly safe. Instead, he just let Raito have it, and didn't relate Raito screaming when he touched it to Raito getting his memories back. I find it a bit sad that Raito smirked at L as L was dying, but I still believe he only killed L because it was necessary. (Ack, after typing this whole thing, I realized that I switched from Light to Raito. X_x;; | #10 May 11th 2007, 7:14pm

|
Light-kunWell, the trusting too much did affect his ability to think, however, how in Dante's hell do you expect L to figure out that Light's touching the Notebook would kill him? The rest of your post is enough of a well supported opinon though. I can completely agree with Light's death beign sad, but I do not think his lack of practice was his downfall. He no longer needed his acting, which is why is becomes unused, except when he is acting as L. (Near mentions that Light no longer cares what the Task Force thinks or does because it is calculated to be irrelevant.)Light's downfall is because of Teru, who goes to the bank to use the real note. Because of this, Near figures out that the DeaTH Notes he takes from Teru are fake. Swapping out the on in the bank is the only reason he wins. In fact, I believe Light's trust in Teru to check the notes forces him to lose, almost in irnoy if compared to L's death. Both Death's --mysterious because of the Death Note beiung the weapon of murder-- are given added mystique because of the simularities in their thinking, lives, deaths, and the irony which is captured on the bigger picture.| #11 May 12th 2007, 5:02pm

OokariL could have possibly deduced that touching the Death Note would have some effect on Raito. Besides, even if he couldn't imagine touching the Death Note would have caused Raito to get his memories back, he should have treated Raito like any other suspect, and not let him near a weapon, or let him know any information. Also, L could have told the task force that if he died before the 13-day rule could be tested, then it would mean Raito was Kira. That would have saved him, too.As for Raito's death, I didn't read every chapter near the end yet. I just looked at little snippets of it, so I don't know the whole story. ^^; But from the little bit I did see, it seemed like Raito's level of intelligence had decreased quite a bit. | #12 May 12th 2007, 5:14pm

Light-kunOk...much better supported on L's death. I will argue that later...WHOA!! Light's level of intelligence has decreased!?! How far are you that is the worst statement.... OokariSorry, I'm only at volume 10, and Near is turning the task force against him. Where I'm at, Light isn't spouting ingenious plans unlike in the parts with L. I guess I should read a bit farther, then. ^^;| #14 May 12th 2007, 6:18pm

Ookari*shrugs* It's almost impossible to avoid all the spoilers on the internet. Plus, my RL friends told me almost immediately after I got into Death Note that both L and Raito would die. Besides, it's rather obvious that Raito would have to die in order for the series to end. 1 DeathGoddessI was sad at all their deaths. But I had to say I laughed after I saw L's death for the second time. And third, fourth, fifth...OK then. I was so sad when Mello and Matt died. Stupid Takada! How dare you (and your bodygaurds) kill them!? I'm glad you burn to death. *Vein* Their deaths were pathetic and that angered me. They are offically (by me) the coolest characters in the entire series. Then Raito had to go and die... AH! I was so sad. And he was very pitiful when he died too. Also not nice. The ending surprised me. Well, the actions of all the characters, that is. | #17 May 31st 2007, 6:35pm

OokariAh great, here we go again. Why does (almost) everybody have to do this? X_x;;Look, Light had no choice. If he hadn't caused L's death, he would have died, and the series would have ended. Would you prefer that? And he's not evil. He was trying to rid the world of evil, and just got a bit carried away in certain parts. Light-kun"Ah great, here we go again. Why does (almost) everybody have to do this? X_x;;Look, Light had no choice. If he hadn't caused L's death, he would have died, and the series would have ended." That is correct... "And he's not evil." Eh...not quite but... "He was trying to rid the world of evil, and just got a bit carried away in certain parts." Close, but no cigar. Light's plan was to, yes, rid the world of evil. But in a reflection, brought on by Matsuda in Volume 9, Light (as L to the team) reveals he believes Kira is "sacrificing himself" to the sin of killing so the world will become peaceful "perfect." However, he suggest that Kira realizes to some extent, as L (referring to the first and how he had to appear at this point), that peace through fear is wrong. THAT is Light's true thinking. (To figure out what Light thinks in narration, it is better to find him thinking as L2. "One of the two would have had to die in the end, and Light won (at least, sort of), so you're flaming him for that? Geez..." Could not have put it better. Question: Could someone come up a scenario were Ryuk, in character, could die? I thought of one and forgot it, and honestly, I want to remember it...Argh!! This ** me off... | #24 Jul 05th 2007, 11:11pm

OokariLight by himself wasn't evil, actually. If he hadn't found the Death Note, he wouldn't have even thought about ridding the world of criminals. In the innocent arc, it's shown that he disagrees with Kira's actions, so if the Death Note had fallen elsewhere, he probably would have been on L's side, fighting to stop the person that had gotten it.And, I don't really understand the next part. ^^; Hm... how Ryuk would die? I'm guessing somebody would have to trick him into it, seeing as he probably wouldn't give his life to anyone sanely. Not really sure, that's a tricky question... | #25 Jul 05th 2007, 11:25pm

|
Light-kunI will re-explain:Light, as L2, thinks that Kira realizes that killing people is WRONG. However, he feels that Kira is sacrificing himself to save the innocent and weak. And, through this sacrifice, Kira believes he redeems his evil actions because he is protecting him. This logic, though when explained seems reasonable, shows his inane psychological state at the time this was happening. An interesting third person commentary on his own actions. I think that Ryuk would have to like somebody, and then be forced to kill someone (The owner of the Death Note for example) for some reason while the Death Note owner is about to kill the person Ryuk liked.(Or some similar scenario.) (Ryuk, for example, might have liked Misa or someone who gives him a lot of apples...) Sorry, thought of it after asking, but anyone else have a thought? | #26 Jul 06th 2007, 9:50pm

Light-kunWhen you think about it the terms Light did (For those not really getting the constant allusions to it: Chess.) Imagine a chess game, where your opponent has left his king wide open and when you throw down your Queen and Rook Combo (Rook-Teru, Queen-DeathNote) You find that the King was an illusion that faded away and left your own king wide open. That can really screw with your head. Plus, he turned to Ryuk (like a chess referee) who decided to rule against you and disqualify (kill) you instead of your opponent. I think you can see my point, as confusing as it is.| #28 Jul 08th 2007, 8:58pm

agent.mintHaving finally read/seen Light's death....I really don't see why he declared his win without waiting until at least Near was completely dead... I know that he was arrogant, but he was so careful when L was alive... You'd think he'd be a little more cautious. Do you think it was because he didn't have to be on the defensive so much? Light's death really destroyed his character for me, because, even though so presise and controlled throughout the seires, he seemed to go completely to pieces when faced with his death. Anyone have an opinion why? Because Light's actions in volume twelve really confuse me.... | #29 Jul 12th 2007, 9:40pm . Edited Jul 16th 2007, 10:48pm

Light-kunYou could read my previous post. I will explain again:Psychological analysis -Light's plan, assuming everyone does as he told them, is FLAWLESS. -Light had a won game. In all seriousness, I STILL think Light won, technically, but Teru decided to be over protective and blow their cover in doing so. That is the whole irony of the situation. LIGHT WON. But...Teru is even more unstable, psychologically than Light. If someone attacks your beliefs, you defend them. If someone threatens to reveal Teru's God, he kills them. Think about it. If Teru had not gone to the bank, Light would have been victorious. The only REAL foreshadowing of this happening is L-1's use of Kira's notes/messages. (Remember when Light could not foresee a fourth note as a possibility. Reread it in book 2 or 3 *is too lazy to look it up*) In death, analysis: -All humans, in facing doom at another's hands, have an instinct to use anything, no matter how desperate, to save themselves or others. Take the doctor in Saw 1. A man of medicine should have known that cutting off his leg would force him to bleed to death. The obvious method of escape, breaking your own foot to allow its freedom, should have come to him. However, with the stress of what had been happening, and the impending death of his daughter (who we are shown means more to him than his wife) put on so much pressure, he fell for the more obvious option of killing himself slowly. (And rather painfully. Though, I would have killed the other guy, simply to avoid the pain... I would need to confess later though. *smile*) -Ryuk... now isn't he interesting? Didn't he predict that he would cause Light's death? Ah... you gotta love him, so evil yet wacky... -Finally, take Light's genius. He is much smarter than most people can hope to be. (Mostly because people refuse to actually THINK!) So, when he began to have an ego, he felt comfortable. In a few moments, the world would bow to him. Near would be dead. The plan, again was perfect. However, there are so many flaws and fatal mistakes made by Teru that the only logical conclusions is that Near cheated and wrote Teru's name into the note. I hate to rewrite this...: 1. Teru is a perfectionist, why doesn't he test the note prior to the warehouse incident? 2. Teru believes Kira to be a God, why would he denounce him before his death? 3. Teru is quite brilliant. Why in the world did he not think to write, at least, the beginning of Light's name (as one of the last) and take all the blame as a just in case? 4. It seems hard to believe Teru would kill himself at the time that he does, don't you think? Seems like Near killed Teru using the Death Note to ensure victory for himself.... (I think Teru killing himself during Manga time is a hint from the author.) | #30 Jul 13th 2007, 9:57pm

agent.mintI did indeed read your post, but it seemed very flimsy, as Light had handled surprises and more pressure than most people experience quite easily before. I thought Light would at least try to act with some dignity. And I realize that Light should have won- I was wondering how Near would pull off winning as I was reading. And yet, when L didn't even know about the Death Note, Light was ever so careful. *shrug* Never become too full of yourself, I guess. One last thing- I think Mikami's denouncement of Light was rather natural. When you think of a god, terms such as caring, just, everlasting, and eternal come to mind. If your "god" breaks down pleading not to die, I think it'd be a reasonable response to be outraged that you were tricked. I believe that Near could have controlled Mikami with the Death Note- Mikami died only ten days after the warehouse confrontation, but I think Near would have nothing to gain by having Mikami denounce Light, unless it was to make the task force think less of Light so he couldn't get help, and that it was a response to a seemingly crazy Light. A minor point, but one that's been bugging me. *shrug* Please excuse the abruptness- it's rather early in the morning. | #31 Jul 16th 2007, 11:40pm

Light-kunNo, think about it from Near's perspective and then Lights! Near wants to win, but he also wants Light to be shown for who he is. That is why taking out Mikami was not good enough! He wanted to humiliate Light, at his own game, the way Light humiliated L by fooling him the way he did. Light wants to win, yes, but he wants to humiliate Near with the perfect planning. Why do you think Near didn't just let Aizawa tell the task force who light was? Why didn't Aizawa hurt Light? WHY!? Because Near wanted to humiliate Light COMPELTELY! To expose him for what he is, a serial killer and a fraud. At least, that is Near's mind set. | #32 Jul 18th 2007, 6:30pm

agent.mintHymm.... I must admit you're right about Near wanted to expose Kira and show exactly how evil he is. Yet, obviously Light wants to do the same, using the same conversation. So, you can't say one is wrong without pointing the finger at both. There's more proof to this, but we agree, so I'll stop.Secondly, not only did they want to humiliate each other, but if Aizawa announced that Light was Kira, it could put him in danger. If either Mikami or Light were hurt, it would complicate things legally. And, if I remember, Near was going to go through the legal system before Ryuk interfered. But, in any case, my point in my previous post was simply that Mikami didn't have to be controlled by Near to have the reaction he did to Light's death. I feel that it is a too minor to bother with. It was just bugging me, so I thought I'd point it out. | #33 Jul 18th 2007, 9:59pm

Light-kunFirst off, thanks for your reply, and I do not feel a need to reply now, as my final thoughts and opinions will appear hear tomorrow. I have been, more or less, in hiding since yesterday(Tuesday night that is) when I obtained Deathly Hallows. (Yes, it would have been finished much, MUCH sooner had something called a "job" had not forced me to sleep. In any case, on my excursion, I picked up a copy of "Finis" which I, must admit, had not previously read in full and with proper translation.* With it, I plan on my next post here to contain an analysis of every chapter, hopefully in a manor that won't give anything away unless you have read the book "Finis"*To those wondering, since I did buy them at the same time, and finished them both relatively sooner, the better plot belongs to Death Note series. (Much more in depth psychologically speaking, but recall! It only one 52%!!) In most intricate, I have to cave in, and admit that DH had several things from previous books I had simply not thought of. The detail and work of the interwoven pattern of plot win the intricate design by a close margin. Notice, however, the Death Note is better plot because it involves a very plausible storyline of a Death Note in the human world in the hand of a late teen, the only exception being L and Whammy house. (In comparison to Hogwarts, Whammy house seems reality.) Finally, in my opinion the best series: Death Note: 12 Volumes + 13-How to read + 2 movies (Both, although movie is cut short, ending is the same) Intricate, no REAL design flaws that were not explained later. Anything unexplainable in canon were made clear, staying true, for the most part, to the canon in 13 Harry Potter: 7 "Years" (Books) +2 (Copy of "Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them" and "The History of Quidditch" + 5 movies (+2?)(Although movies are altered, anything related to the key plot line of the series is completely unaltered) Equally intricate, if not, slightly more so. No design flaws. Everything unexplained is explained in canon (Books only) (Movie...?) Despite there vast differences, and some may criticize that I am comparing apples and oraganges, I would have to agree! But, if forced to contrast, and choose the better, I could not. Both series are brilliantly done and one of them does not outdo the other! I think that over all, the two series are evenly matched. HP:DH 1 1/2 DNote 1 1/2 | #34 Jul 26th 2007, 12:00am

agent.mintSince you're bringing up Harry Potter, I can't pass up the chance to reply, even if it is off topic.Personally, I probably couldn't pick one over the other; as you said, they are both excellent. While Harry Potter is quite intricate, I must say that at times I was wondering if I was reading a fanfiction when reading the seventh book, except that I remembered a few... pieces mentioned quite early on. The... pieces, for lack of a better, non-spoiler term, seemed suddenly placed in there, and seem to have no real significance. (FF.net really needs a spoiler block....) I suppose they could if you look, but the effects they had could have been done without the huge show. The characterizing effects.... interesting, but still... I don't think the big fuss was nessicary. Overall, the structure, in the books except in the last one, at the very least, maybe three is repetitive. However, the characterization, description, and as previously said, detail is awesome. Wheareas Death Note, while less intricate, explains itself. Everything that appears in the story has a purpose, except Misa and Kiyomi dining... The characters are developed indirectly (which I think is cooler, personally ^^) through dialogue and the art. It is full of puzzles to try and work through, as well as giving many things to think about and debate even after the end of the series. Harry Potter was planned over a seven year period, I believe it was (Or was it eleven? Almost everything in Harry Potter seems to be seven so it might be messing up my head XD), while Death Note was pretty much winged (see DeathGod.org's translation of the interviews in How to Read:13). So considering time vs. quality, Death Note would win, especially because of the addition of art... So, my conclusion? Actually, I've just realized that I've argued nothing really; this ended up being my thoughts on Death Note and Harry Potter (mostly DH). XD Please forgive me- it is early here. But in any case, both series are excellent.... Um, yeah.... | #35 Jul 26th 2007, 11:16pm

Light-kun*IF YOU ARE READING THIS, YOU STATE, "I have finished DeathNote/don't care if I ruin the story/plot's conclusion."The review of the Death of "Death Note" I will go through each chapter and talk about key events and significant points of each chapter. In addition, at the end, I will ask a trvia question that only a Hard Core READER of the Death Note Manga could answer. By doing so correctly (please email answer with your penname for FF.net in the title. PM is also acceptable. NOTE: ALL GUESSES SENT IN ANOTHER FASHION WILL BE IGNORED, (AUTOMATICALLY WRONG, AND DELETED WHEN I SEE IT!!!) Now then, shall I? Chapter 99: The Two Key events: 1.Matt's Death 2.Takada kidnapped into a truck, N is innocent in these events completely. 3.Mello dies 4.Mikami leaves his office (We know why later on, it will be discussed later) 5.Light kills off Mikami 1.Okay, despite the fan girls, Matt is not that significant of a character. He is only added because Mello requires a side kick. More or less anyway. However, the death of Matt is still important. Matt is valuable to Mello, and like a chess game, you must get rid of the pawns to attack the king. (Mello) In doing so, you win. However, the importance is not a one on one. The importance becomes greater in Mello's confession of regret. I believe, for the first time, mello regrets involving Matt, reconciling his differences and noting, slightly, that Matt is the only person important to him. 2.N's innocence in the kidnapping seems to show an idea of God versus chance/ (More popularly known as Creationism versus Darwinism, where Darwinism requires the Earth's placement, contents, and resources to be here in this spot on the cosmic plane to be left to a 1:X chance.) Later, the coincidence of Mello and N inadvertently working together triumphs the "perfectly" calculated plan of "god." (Not a focal point, but a side note, and possibility. Just, expanding the brance and noticing ideas in the story. This does not mean that Ohba believes any of this or that this is his intention.) 3.Light killing of Mikami is important because is demonstrates the idea of "god" interfering in worldy matters and ending Free Will in order to keep his plan going. It might also bring of the "Choice Theory" (Mine, I have total (c) here). The idea is this: God causes the Big Bang to happen, causes the forced choice of creation of galaxies, forces solar systems, forced by stars and groups of bodily masses. Upon masses, bacteria chooses to group, Ameba, Ameba's become multi celled, on through evolution, etc. Today, I choose (or not) to tell Amber about Chad doing something. *Both fictional* If I do, she will get mad at Chad, they break up. If I don't, but tell Chad, Chad might change ways and Amber never knows they might be happy together or not(new choice for them.) Or he doesn't change, gets caught, and Amber, in addition to breaking up, is mad at me if Chad choses to tell her. IF he doesn't change her ways, and doesn't tell Amber that I knew, they break up and I might tell her what I knew and how I thought that he would change. (She has a new choice to continue being my friend or not.) *That is the choice theory, is that God caused the Big Bang to happen in such a way, that everything is, or occurred, or will occur, will happen due to our free will, but because God has given us a choice under a particular circumstance, at a certain time, he already knows what we pick. This also eliminates divine interference, because God already knew who would pray for what win, and the way the Big Bang happened has already determined if those prayers will be answered. But if we don't pray for something, then God, who knew we wouldn't, wouldn't have already granted, or left unanswered, our wish/desire. See? pretty complicated but it works. 4and5.See, Light knew who would do what, but his failure to be the perfect Mathematician (The True God) is part of his downfall. He should have seen Mello doing this, and he did, but he did not think of the choice it would give Mikami and how he would react. I will talk about Light;s supposed God Complex in the last chapter. Chapter 100: Face to Face Final arrangements (Boring but neccesary) 1.Mikami doesn't test Note. 2.Light meets L/Near (he has mask on in this.) 2.Nothing important here... 1.Except the obvious out of character Mikami to not test the Note. Chapter 101: Inducement 1.Light's first thoughts on the mask 2.Near's test of theory: Predetermined DN death 3.X-KIRA APPEARS! "Delete!" 1.Light's first thoughts on Near are something like: "Near, you are far inferior to L, you don't deserve to wear his mask." *Hugs Light, please RULE ME!* 2.Near's test, also boring, exciting theory, but boring otherwise. Personally, if I were Light, I would have considered this and done it. I do not see the difference, because, as the older, wouldn't it be easy to kill Near with the other's already dead....? 3.X-Kira, important! Mikami, normally, would have checked the Note. If it worked, this would be Checkmate. If not, then this would be Stalemate. (He would include Light's name in the list, hence, giving him an alibi. As his God, Mikami would have taken the fall, then Light, at his leisure, would kill Near, or just given up the note, admitting an inability to conquer near to himself, or dying to figure out the name anyway.) Chapter 102: Paitence 1.Near explains the plan he initially used. 2.Light reveals, to himself, it is as he predicted 3.I WIN! 4.Counter-mate...? 5.Cool as Cat, distraught with impossibility 6.Revealing of the complete plan (Not listed below) 7.Ryuk-"I am not on kira's side..." 8.Undeniable proof of conviction 1.You read it, and it is a predictable plan. Even for me, I would have thought N would do that or something similar. 2and3.Light is proven correct, both are still acting brilliantly. (Those who think Light had weaker acting skills, he was trying to pretend to be: 1. Stupid and 2. Like a guy with better things to do, finding this to be some silly joke by some silly kid. (AKA Near. Hence the, "Hey you, behind the door..." line.) 4.No one dies...If Light knew N's plan then how...? 5.Light continues to be himself, calm, collected. He runs, as would anyone in that situation, and appears like both the villain and a person framed. 7.Ryuk telling N the truth about the clipped pages is what really killed Light' initial defense against the accusation. but Ryuk is neutral, and despite telling this truth, he believe Light can find a way out of this. *I thought of a way, but it was a "Going for the draw" not "Going for the win plan" Obviously, Light went for the latter. 8."Light, you are Kira!" Chapter 104: Answer 1.Could Mikami betray me (Also at the end of 103) 2.Betrayed by the blindly Loyal (idea of the three laws of robotics) 3.Light's regret and confession 4.Mello's foresight? 5.Impossible! A taunt drives Light to insanity 6.Gather the mind; Confession: "That's right, I am Kira." 1. The idea crosses his mind fleetingly, and is dismissed. Brought up as another point, Mikami, on his own, would not ever say nor think an action such as going against god. He is blindly loyal. 2.Mikami does, inadvertently, ends his god's existence. Because Takada is conflicted, Light's orders and indications conflict: "God cannot kill/move" "God must be protected." "Do not make an unnecessary move" If God cannot move, and Takada needs to be killed for Kira's protection, then it is a neccesary move. However, killing a single person is simply...easy. Mikami, however, did not know of the watch or anything of that matter either. Because of conflicting ideas, Mikami was tailed, and then killed Takada. The tail picks up on this and BOOM! We have Mikami giving away LIght's plan. But, I can't blame him really, or Light. To both, what they did is justified, even Light justifies Mikami's error, so no point arguing it. 3.Light's confession comes in the line "Mikami, your loyalty to me was impressive..." 4.It is impossible that Mello could see further than Near, he is less calculating. I suspect, that he figured Takada to be an essential part of Light's plan. She wasn't. He must have figured that if failed, then he would at least halt the 28th meeting, and extended both of their time to make plans. Still, this did have the effect of helping Near anyway, so Mello's overall purpose was served, and quite well. 5.Light's mind was slowly scratched away as Near calmly explained his victory, and as shown, all of Light's being collapses when Near taunts him to talk his way out. He KNOWS he can do it. Light is quite brilliant, after all. He also had a way to kill Near, and that would be the end of him. However, he went for it, and well.... 6. "That's right, I am Kira." This confession is the beginning of his diversion to kill Near. It almost worked...sad, huh? Chapter 105: Impossible 1.His talking fails 1.Both Light and Near have perfect arguments, but being the bad guy, Light can't talk his way out. I will keep my opinion to myself. To respect N: "If there is a God, and I had in front of me all his teaching, I would look them through, and decide (!)FOR MYSELF(!) what is right...I am no different then you, I now what I think is right, and believe that to be righteous." (May be paraphrased.) Chapter 106: Intent to Kill 1.A perfect plan, ruined by Matsuda...!? 2.Mikami's proclamation 3.nsanity 4.Insane by definition 1.Basically, Light begins speaking of the Note's being fake. We have read it, it is a decent idea, and Light can convince the others better than he can argue Near. So, he begins to write Nate Rivers when...!? Matsuda shoots him!? It doesn't matter now, with that plan half destroyed, Light wants Nater dead too! His blood, he continues with his blood. R-i- Prior to writing, Matsuda's reasons become clear. Who was this for? Alright, Light's intentions were good at the start, and a bit naive. To continue, his heart became dark to clean the world. Kinda like a fiend who is attributed to Goodness. Distracted by trying to write, Light fails to convince Matsuda, or even put together real thought. He is convinced that Matsuda understood Kira and would defend him. Here, his mind becomes desperate. He didn't need an out, his plan was perfect. So everyone he used before! Someone will help him, he is their God! "Mikami"! 2.Alright, Mikami is obviously being controlled or has PMS. No one goes from praising the ground someone walks on forever to going the complete opposite. With his loyalty, and being unguarded, Mikami should have thought to ram some of the people out of the way and assist Light. 3.Out of my earlier leaving, Light believes he can call upon one of those who love him to kill everyone! He calls them in order to save himself. Misa, Takada, and Mikami. All those he trusted were now unable to save him. One is away, one is dead, and the last mind controlled/in handcuffs. 4.Now then, Light knows that Insane is defined as someone who does or attempts the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result. So why does he plead to Ryuk when he knows the answer is no? Chapter 107: Curtain 1.Ryuk's choice...varies? (or not) 2.The Absurdist's comedy. 1.In his final desperation, Light has asked Ryuk to help. and he replies, "Sure, I'll write the name." Unfortunately, Ryuk is helping end the pain and suffering of Light. And end his own pain and suffering of watching Light rot for forty, fifty or 60 more years. (he knows, but can't reveal it, duh.) So, it is over. Light, you have lost to the one thing you were always promised: "Light Yagami" is the last name written. 2.Absurdist's Comedy- Absurdism is a philosophy stating that the efforts of humanity to find meaning in the universe will ultimately fail (and, hence, are absurd) because no such meaning exists, at least in relation to humanity. The word Absurd in this context does not mean "logically impossible", but rather "humanly impossible" and a Comedy portrays a conflict or agon (Classical Greek ἀγών) between a young hero and an older authority, a confrontation described by Northrop Frye as a struggle between a "society of youth" and a "society of the old". Obviously this fits in the final revaltions of the God's of Death: "Can't go to Heaven of Hell... That's told me everything Ryuk." "HuH, wHaT?" "It just means that there is no Heven or Hell, right?" "! ... YoU ReAlLy ArE sOmEtHiNg. I tHoUgHt AlL hUmAnS sErIoUsLy BeLiEvEd In HeAvEn AnD HeLl, BuT...YeAh, YoU'rE AbSoLuTeLy RiGhT. tHeRe Is No HeAvEn Or HeLl. No MaTtEr WhAt YoU dO wHiLe YoUr AlIvE, eVeRyBoDy GoEs To ThE sAmE pLaCe OnCe YoU dIe. DEATH IS EQUAL" *All humans will, without exception, eventually die. *After they die, the place they go is MU. (Nothingness) *Once dead, they can never come back to life. Chapter 108: Finis 1.Matsuda's doubt 2."Kira, our Saviour" 1.Mastuda's doubt and theories leads me to believe that his interaction with Light has actually significantly increased his ability to reason and think. His theory is actually very good, and realizing that maybe, JUST MAYBE, he made the wrong choice. Honestly, I think he is right to doubt. Perhaps the world might have been better in Kira's hands. I wonder... 2.The final section of the chapter, regarding those he follow a God who becomes nothing and can never come back, completes Light's wish. HE IS GOD in the sense that God is God in this novel. In this novel, no heaven, no earth, no ultimate meaning. Therefore, in this book, Shinigami are closest things there are to Gods. Therefore, Kira can become God, think himself to be God, and not have a God complex, because if there is no higher power, then humans hold the potential to be God or Godlike. (While being careful in phrasing, as for Light, beating L made him Godlike, and beating N/Mello would make him God.) They pray to/for Kira as Jew/Christian's pray to God. If God does not exist, then Kira worshipers are like the Jew/Christian's, except there God did, at one time, exist. Final Note: I do believe in God, so the above is not my views, but exist as that in the Manga realm. The above also took about 3 hours to type. Enjoy it, dammit. The questions for trivia: *Must get three right. Winner gets a 1 chapter commish for free, any category, any them, any characters* 1.What is the date of L's death? 2. Name two character's, other than Mello, Takada, and Matt, who dies on the same day. 3. Reasoning: Why is Mello and NearL supported by M and N caught Kira but L couldn't faulty logic? 4. What is the date of L's birth? *If you see the words: "I am righteous" above the questions, the contest has closed* | #36 Jul 28th 2007, 1:25am . Edited Jul 28th 2007, 10:51am

agent.mintAll I can say is... wow. o.o Dedicated fan! But as I've nothing else to say on the majority of your post (Now I kind of understand DeathNoteBoy's complaint about long posts XD), I've got two questions about your questions: 1) Is number three supposed to be "Why is Near's statement, "M and N together surpass L", although supported by the capture of Kira, faulty logic"? and... 2) Can I use How to Read:13 on question two, since the fact that I own it means I must be a big fan, or does that disqualify me completely? EDIT: Oh god... I feel so stupid. Please ignore question number two, as I just thought of the answer. | #37 Jul 28th 2007, 7:35pm . Edited Jul 28th 2007, 7:37pm

Light-kunYeah...Well, I am happy. As to number 1, well, it wont let me use the "Greater sign" or "less than" sign because they are what is used to do html. *Forgot* | #38 Jul 28th 2007, 11:05pm

K2-Romance... Geez way to explode my brain just after I totally wore out my body during band camp. *grumbles*However I did take my time to read your post. Though, I didn't take the time to read the rest of the posts after it, so I didn't realize the lack of the greater than/less than sign either. So that explains the "NO IDEA ; ;" in the message I sent you :) I'm too tired right now to discuss your post in detail, but I promise I will this weekend. I have band camp all week, so after a good night's sleep and a whole day to myself instead of seven hours with a flute in my hands, I'll be sure to type a decent response! | #39 Aug 15th 2007, 4:19pm

Lether-pearlwow! all you guys are so smart! You truly have captured to importance of most of the deaths in that HUGE reply above. Even though a fangirl like me dosen't agree that you call matt a 'sidekick'! jk jk. I prefered the way Light dies in the anime to the manga, even though i turly hate him and think that he is just a corrupt dictator who would never be able to kill someone with his own hands...anyway! I just thought the sequence at the end was so beautiful, and i liked how he did die with a bit of respect, whenever he forgot about the death note, his true personality came out. He was truly a completely different person, who was so smart and innocent, THAT side of Light didn't deserve to die, he just became to obsessed and corrupted in his views on how the world should be. Yeah, back to the sequence at the end... In the first episodes of death note, everything is almost in sepia tone (brown based)and those last few minutes with Light's death scene, It is so vibrant and colourful (i would full of life but...) suddenly, the use of orange and blue has occured and the dramatic lighting creates this amazingly emotional effect. In L's death scene aswell, i loved the use of the red colour that dominated to scene and again they used this really deep lighting that created this almost evil effect. Qusetion: did Misa jump off a building? I havn't read the How to read 13 does it say? | #41 Sep 11th 2007, 10:44am . Edited Sep 11th 2007, 10:46am

Light-kunI dunno if it says or not. But, that anime scenes with Misa could not have happened at Light's death. Misa lives for another year and 16 days after Light dies. (I think)| #42 Sep 11th 2007, 9:15pm

1 DeathGoddessYes. But a lot of things were different in the anime. Mikami's death for example....I think Misa's scene was in the future, because she would of committed suicide AFTER Raito's death. | #43 Sep 11th 2007, 9:25pm

Light-kunYes, but the images are shown at the time of Light's death, so why do it that way if it is in the future.| #44 Sep 13th 2007, 8:26pm

Lether-pearlI thought it was just Misa starting to feel miserable about the whole situation (don't know wht on top of a building), she could have been thinking about suicide without knowing Lights death also. And when Misa was singing In ep 25, the sky and her clothes looked exactly the same, so there could be a chance that it was set in the future. Or it just could of been the only way for the artists to show that Misa did commit suicide.| #45 Sep 13th 2007, 10:33pm

Troll LogicThough I was pretty discouraged by L's death, I was more dissapointed with Light's final end. I thought the last chapter was genius for showing one aspect of the mark Kira left behind, but what I really was hoping for was a short chapter after that one, showing the truth behind where a user of the DN would end up after death. Its a pity to think his existence might have just been completely gone, but I can totally see him in my mind's eye, stuck in either a massive, dark void or a barren, lifeless landscape, with a beaten Kira there ruling over a world of nothing. Like a disgustingly literal interpretation of Ryuk's claim that if he killed all the bastards in the world(And whoever happened to get in his way)that he'd be the only one left. | #46 Oct 04th 2007, 4:11pm

Light-kun...What? You have got to be kidding me. "After they(humans) die, the place they go is MU. (Nothingness)" (Vol. 12 188). This book, in order to function as a world and not crisscross faiths, must assume a certain atheistic view as far as the afterlife goes. (More specifically, Japanese Mythology regarding afterlife in association with Shinigami.) | #47 Oct 11th 2007, 8:42pm

Troll LogicYes, but I would have liked to see a visual representation of it is what I'm saying. If you have studied the culture and not the faith itself, you know their versions of Mu are as varied as Christian's versions of heaven and hell, it can become personalized to an extent.| #48 Oct 11th 2007, 8:50pm

1 DeathGoddessYeah, I agree. I would of like to see what Mu looked like to them. It would of also been cool to see everyone who was also in Mu with them. It's just people who have used the Death Note right? So that would be Raito, Takada, Mikami, and Mello. Then all those minor characters.| #49 Oct 12th 2007, 3:20pm
