Topic: The Musical Connection

Okay. I'm really nervous about posting this, as I am not very established in this fandom at all. But as my expertise level grows, I find in my head a continuously expanding set of songs that call to mind this pairing dubbed "Yuffentine" and the two characters that form it. Perhaps the rest of you have similar inventories in your own heads.

In other words, this is a "songs that remind us of Vincent/Yuffie/Yuffentine" thread. I've participated in this sort of thread before in other fandoms and it's always a fun character exercise. So I thought you guys could try it here. (And hopefully, I will be permitted to participate too, despite my newbie status.)

I'll give a few to get started.

"Nemo" by Nightwish brings Vincent to mind for me. The lyrics are very descriptive of his view of himself and his life. The Yuffentine factor is slightly present in the end of the second verse.

For similar reasons, Nightwish's more recent song "For The Heart I Once Had" also makes me think of Vincent, and again, there are some Yuffentine elements in the second verse (the line "for the child, for the light" seems to me to indicate Yuffie.)

"Headlock" by Imogen Heap is also a great Yuffentine-esque song: it sounds like a monologue from Yuffie directed towards Vincent, a mix of sympathy and "cut-the-crap" no-nonsense sensibility, if that makes sense.

So go ahead and post songs that remind you of Yuffie or Vincent or the combination of the two. I hope it was okay for me to take the liberty of starting this. I'll be back with more songs another time.

'Carnival' by The Cardigans reminds me of them, in a particular way.

The songs that really remind me of Yuffentine are 'Savin' Me' by Nickleback (though I think that's partly due to T.Costa's fic 'Rock Star') and 'Prodigal' by One Republic.

I think that Shatterd by Trading Yesterday is a song that realates to them. (kind of) Especially the one line "For I am finding out that love... will kill and save me." *Sighs* I love that song.

Thanks a lot for this topic: this is something I've always wished to, but I've never had the time, the opportunity or the courage to do so. I have a lot of songs piled in my head that reminds me Vincent or Yuffie...there was a moment which I was so obsessed with this pairing that it seemed to me that almost every song had some 'yuffentine' hint in it.

These are the songs that I've always felt like Yuffie thinking of Vince:

Too lost in you by Sugarbabes: this is one of the best song I ever heard that describe so perfectly the effect of the passion. I'ts hard to imagine Yuffie all tongue-tied in front of him, but I think that this will be her reaction if he would ever approach her in a seductive way. In particular, the verse 'i'm slipping away/like the sand to the tide/falling into your arms/falling into your eyes' reminds me a lot the magnetic attraction of Vince's ruby eyes, which shone in the dark like smoldering embers.

Crash and burn by Savage Gardens. More a 'friendship statement' than a yuffentine, but it's very sweet. It shows very well how far she would go to mend his broken heart.

I do it for you by Nick Lachey a very volitive song, typcal of Yuffie, in which she demand him to quit pretending and show his real feelings, giving back some of the love she gave.

Head over feet by Alanis Morisette: he's her friend, best listener and he's treating her like a princess, holding the door for her. Yes, he's Vincent. And she says that it's all his fault if she had fall for him. Yeah, she's definitely Yuffie XD

When you said nothing at all by Ronan Keating: the perfect Yuffentine song, from Yuffie's pov. It's a great description of their multual and unspoken bond.

And these are from Vincent's point of view. Probably they are a little ooc, but since the songs talked about a person who was hurted by love, but then found someone who teach him to love again...well I couldn't help to think about Vincent and Yuffie :P

What's left of me by Nick Lachey. Well, the lyrics of this song are pretty self-explaining, but one phrase could reassume all : 'Take what's left of this man/Make me whole once again'

Bleeding love by Leona Lewis, again it's the story of a man who refused to love again, but then his heart was melted by a girl who defy all his barriers, and now he can't stop the love that fills his heart, even if the others think that he's going crazy. I like the concept of Vince falling in love with Yuffie and can't help it, even if it's strange for him :P

the Reason by Hoobastank, it would be nice if Vince, one day, realized that all the years spent trying to distance himself from others are totally useless and hurtful, and tried to make ammend saying that he have 'finally found a reason for change what he used to be'. And that the reason was Yuffie.

Well, I think this reply it's enough cheesy to continue it further...so it's better for me to stop. We are risking our dental health here :P
