Greetings! As the topic states, I'm interested in Reverse Yuffentine (a self-made title as the majority, if not all Yuffentines are based on Yuffie pursuing Vincent, and never the other way around, unless provoked)

I have found only two, by accident, in which Vincent is actively pursuing Yuffie. (Yes, I will note that some would say there's plenty of Reverse Yuffentine everywhere, where Vincent has feelings for her and she's ignorant blah blah blah .. Yes, well, as I said, actively pursuing as in courting)

Alright, I only found one of the two I've ever read; VIABLE SHADOWS by Hiasobi (It's not as epic as you'd expect, but it's still certainly pleasing in its own fragmented way. And just to show you what I mean, this makes a good example)

Can't, for the life of me, find the other one, but I remember it was damn well good. ): I'm sure I've read about 83% of all Yuffentines that are properly categorized in the Yuffie & Vincent slots. (Only 83% 'cause we all know how many silly badly written standalones there are, and I just plain skip those!)

Regardless! The reason for this topic (though the whole forum seems to be sleeping), is if anyone knew of a Reverse Yuffentine they could recommend me, or simply talk about, even if you can't remember the title?

I know what you mean, in a lot of Yuffentines Vincent can seem quite passive, though I guess that's just his character compared to Yuffie.

One good one I've read recently is Mixed Feelings by Niamh13, a Vincent/Yuffie/Reno love triangle in which Vincent falls for, and confesses to, Yuffie first. It's great so far.

And while I feel a bit bad mentioning my own fic, this is pretty much why I wrote Waiting for Springtime. I noticed as well that in most Yuffentines it Yuffie that falls for him first, or it's circumstances that somehow bring them together. So I decided to reverse it totally by making Vincent fall for her while she's in love with, then grieving for, someone else. Vincent'll be making all the first moves in this story!

I love Viable Shadows, though I don't know if you can call what Vincent does courting, exactly... I hope it gets updated at some point, though.

I found your concept of a reverse yuffentine very interesting. After many years spent reading stories in which, for mostly part, Yuffie tried in a million ways to catch Vincent's affection, I must say that I'd like very much to read more fics where it happens exactly the opposite. Unfortunately, even if I've probably read almost 90% of the yuffentine section due to my costant research for good stories about this pairing (that, after almost 4 years, is still my OTP), I've found only few stories that shows Vincent actually courting Yuffie. Here they are:

And in this dream, by Colleen. In this story, an AU, Vincent is an actor (but his figure is still unclear and shadowed by a mysterious/supernatural aura) and Yuffie is an actress, who's playing in a Shakespeare act. When she found herself as a target of some deadly pranks he start to protect her, like a undercovered bodyguard. It's interesting to note that in this story Yuffie, although clearly interested in Vincent, haven't tried to jump him (yet), but it's him who constantly follow her, even if it's to protect her and he even started a steamy (and quite unusual) scene... maybe not a properly courting, but close enough. I don't want to spoil the entire story, but I think that this is one of the best AU I've read recently: her writing style is simply amazing, the characters are totally IC (the explanation about Vincent's background is pure genius) and the mysterious setting that kinda remind me an Agatha Christie's movie is incredibly original. I just hope to read the end of it someday :P

The Flame of you, by Kittie Darkhart. This is probably the best exemple of a reverse fic that I could think of. At the beginning of the story Yuffie is in love with Reno, but when he left her and disappear, she start to travel to find him and during this trip she met Vincent who decided to help her. Clearly displeased in Yuffie's target of affections, he tried to distract her from Reno for her sake, but falled in love with her instead.

This story is very different from the others...here Vincent is actively courting Yuffie, trying to win her affection at all costs in spite of Reno (I have to admit that the Vincent/Yuffie/Reno triangle is one of my favourite plot...I cannot resist to a jealous Vince :P) while Yuffie...well, her character is maybe the only thing I don't like very much about this fic: it's a bit too much weak and submissive for my tastes. But, hey, if she would have been her usual self, all the reverse-thing would never happened ^^

Anyway, this story is long, jucy and most importantly, completed so I think it's worth give it a try, even if the first chapters may be a little...disconcerting :P

The Divine and Atonement by Isanarya. Okay, I think that all the world knows, at this point, just how much I love this fic so I'll make it short: considering Vincent's more prevalent feelings and his actions in the latest chapters, I believe that this story could be considered as a reverse yuffentine. True, he's not acting on his feelings yet, but his intentions and the general direction of the plot seems to give a hint towards a future 'proper' courting...at least that's what I fervently hope for ^_^

Well, I think that's all. I hope that my contribute could be useful, maybe just for reading something new... and if someone will have the time or the will to follow this humble suggestion, just let me know. I'd like to talk about it, even if my replies could be kinda slow.
