Kaj-NrigBefore the Compilation came out, they were very much a viable pairing, mainly because they had so little done to them during the course of the game. (Which is only partially true in Vincent's case, as one can argue that he got more characterization than some of the main characters did.)Now, with all these spin-offs and whatnot, it's hard to picture them as a couple. If anything, they'd be a nice Starsky and Hutch/Rush Hour/Bad Boys combo. But it is certainly viable that given a set of loose situations, the two, with their opposing personalities, would make for a nice couple. Their differing positions - Yuffie as a ninja princess loyal to her country and Vincent as a affiliation-less gunslinger with what could be considered a budding moral code (his tenure as a Turk seems to reinforce his savagery, whereas his past with Lucrecia seems to imply the beginnings of moral development) - would definitely serve to develop each other's character. | #151 Dec 12th 2007, 11:07pm

ABNORMAL2110You know, this pairing REALLY irks me. I could see both Yuffie & Vincent's POV, but I don't think Vincent could come to love Yuffie. You all say that Vincent should be with Yuffie cause he needs her or something like that, but I don't think that Vincent WANTS her. Needing and wanting are two completely different things. It's like forcing a rebelious teen to go to a top boarding school. Sure he needs it, it could change him and make him a better person, or something like that. But it wont make him TRULY happy. He didn't choose it, he doesn't want it, he's different, and I think everyone should just accept who he is. And well, I don't think Vincent even LIKES Yuffie. I used Yuffie to find Vincent, and really, I can't see the love or concern. Vincent went through a hell of a whole lot, and all Yuffie could say was something along the lines of "Your life story is boring and we don't need you" or something like that. If I was Vincent, I'd be pretty ticked off, and wouldn't appriciate her in any way. Maybe you could see Yuffie doing that as a good thing. But Vincent doesn't. He went through a LOT. And don't start comparing him to Yuffie/Aeris/Tifa's past. Compared to US, he went through the 7th Hell and came back to life only to find the world's about to end. Vincent was betrayed, heartbroked, but not only that. He was murdered, butchered, he went through physical pain none of you can imagine. He's immortal too. He can't die. He still went through the pain and agony of Hojo's torcher. He was hurted, badly. Both mentally and physically. You all complained how Vincent is a whiner, who sulks too much, and he's too damned immature. I'd say, what would YOU do if you were in Vincent's place? To what Vincent endured, I'm surprised he hasn't gone crazy or had a mental breakdown yet. He needs a shoulder to cry on(that's what girls do, but since he's a guy, and he wants to be charismatic and stuff. Sulking will have to suffice), someone who'll listen to him when he actually talks. I'd be really irked when people say that the incident that ruined and changed my life forever was 'boring'. And the whole Yuffie went through more traumatic events than Vincent did, I have to say no. Yuffie was royalty. She was probably the one of last lineage of the Kisaragi family. The future princess of Wutai. I don't think the wise and proud nation of Wutai(BEFORE it was a dinky tourist trap) would let the young princess of their country, running around in the middle of the war. She was probably evacuated by the country's soldiers or something while his father(and probably mother) went through war. She wasn't torchered like Vincent was. And I don't think that there was anything TOO personal with Yuffie and the war. Lots of people probably suffered after the war(It WAS a war). It wasn't just Yuffie. Maybe some of the Wutaiians had it worse. Atleast Yuffie was taken care of. The other Wutaiians could be ignored and unattended. And who knows? Maybe she had an angsty stage like Vincent where she complains and whines, then she forgot about her past and kept moving forward. So yeah. Yuffie is a great character and all. She DID tried to help her country. But I can't really see her doing anything to make Vincent like her. Vincent will probably be suited with someone that: a) Will give him some breathing room. Cause it seems that Vincent wants to be left alone on purpose b) He can trust. Trust is VERY important when dealing with Vincent c) Respect him for who he is, and doesn't try to change him drasticly d) Will listen to him when he actually talks e) Who'll help him, but doesn't force him when he doesn't want to And well, I don't know if Yuffie is any of those things. Next topic. Okay, most of you say Vincent is immature because he wont move on. But, come on people. He just woke up from a traumatic past. He's not used to his surroundings yet. He's been stuck in that casket for 30 years. The world has changed. In just 5 years OUR world can change a lot. Let alone the so-called magical world of Final Fantasy in 30 years. He's taking small steps. He's taking it all in. And I think he's actually moving on. But he doesn't want to change just yet. He wants time to prepare. He wants to adjust. He's not ready, and he doesn't want to rush things. Time helps you heal. And Vincent is heavily wounded. It's either that, or he just doesn't care about himself anymore. Most Libras tend to be like that. Who knows? Maybe he's really lazy and doesn't give a sh't about what'll happen to him or the world. But that's just MY opinion.........okay maybe it's not my opinion exactly. I could see Vincent as sarcastic and a bit cocky. Lazy and careless is a maybe. I'm still confucked wheter or not Vincent is as intelligent as everyone says. He's not stupid. He's been betrayed many times. I can see him having a problem with trusting people. ESPECIALLY, people like Yuffie. He did say "Unforgivable" when she stole their Materia. Judging by the way Vincent can hold a grudge and angst about a woman who doesn't love him back for a good long time(Depends. Did he actually slept in that coffin, or can he remember the things or think about the things he's done while he's in there?), I'd say he's gonna have problems trusting her. Besides, we're all stupid in our different ways. Everyone has their "D'uhh..." moments. (I think I'm babbling now...) And I think in DoC there's a scene where he says goodbye to Lucrecia. He's moved on. I'm still not sure what I'm trying to say... I guess the person that Vincent would want to be together with, is someone he can trust. And someone that'll listen to him. Not someone that'll annoy him nonstop so he can cheer up or like her more. Or maybe he just needs a diary. ^^; |

lynn.reistI'm a fan of the pairing, for most of the reasons people don't like the pairing. Call me weird but there's just so much more you can do with a pairing that -doesn't- fit the status quo as compaired to one that does. | #155 Apr 30th, 2:51pm . Edited Apr 30th, 2:58pm

Pen Against SwordLOL. Lynn, your original response, which is sitting in my email inbox, was better. You should've left it there. Also: everything that lynn said. If you don't like unconvential, hard-to-write pairings, you won't get Yuffentine. There's really just no rationalizing it. Either you like it and get why it is appealing, or you hate it and vehemently disagree with the idea. |

ABNORMAL2110Meh. I read your original response, Lynn. I guess everyone has their own preference in things. And I thought this was a "Why we hate this pairing" sorta forum. Sorry if I'm wrong, but I thought I was supposed to tell why or why not I don't like it. The guys from the previous pages seemed to try and make this pairing rational. Are you just ticked that I shot down most of them? Whatever the case, I was just bored and I want to share my opinion in this like the other 150-some people in this forum. Toodles. |

Pen Against SwordLOL. You're allowed to share your opinion. The forum is simply called "Yuffentines" so I don't know where you got the idea that it was "Why We Hate This" (nor is it dedicated to loving it). I was mostly agreeing with her telling you to use more paragraph breaks. Say what you want, just be prepared to be vehemently disagreed with in a 150 post thread where 95% of the posters have elaborated on why they really like Yuffentine. |

ABNORMAL2110What pairings do you hate? I will not tolerate bashings of any sort. If you don't like a specific pairing, I want a clear and easily understood reason. And remember folks...it's all opinion. I believe that's the summary for the main forum And so we meet only to fall in hate. I'm sorry about the paragraph breaks. I typed that somewhere else, I didn't know it would preview differently in FanFiction.net. And If people were too afraid to show their own opinions, what's the purpose for creating forums like these, hm? |
