does anyone else here think that Steven Strait should play Jacob Black in New Moon? he's played fictional characters before. (he played warren peace in Sky high and Caleb Danvers in The Covenant)

i know i was so mad when i found out that he was going to be Jacob.

the only thing keeping me sane is the thought that if they do New Moon they are def. going to have to change characters because Jacob grows like 7' ft. tall and gets REALLY buff. *sigh*

The worst thing is that he looks quite similar to my ex, and with me being a total Jacob-lover, that just sucks...

I don't really like it when they replace the actors in movies, but allmost everyone is better then Taylor I guess=/

taylor is ok looking but he just wasn't what i would've pictured playing jacob.

Yeah, I completely understand that. I'm not saying that it looks bad because his hair is long, I just mena that the actual quality of the wig is crap.

yeah i agree. at first i thought it was extensions. All i know is its def. nasty looking.

i showed my friend(she just started the series, shes on New Moon.) a pic of steven strait and she almost fell over. she was like "why didn't they pic him? Taylor is ugly." thats what i first thought.

So, back to the subject. How many think they'll have to get a different actor for New Moon? I do, there is no way taylor can get even more muscles and grow 2 feet taller in 6 months. they'll have to rely on special efects or just get someone that looks more mature (*cough* steven *cough*)

Well, I loved Taylor as Jacob in Twilight but he just doesn't fit as Jacob in New Moon. People keep saying that height doesn't matter and that he's working to put on muscle but he still wont fit. Jacob said that he was 17 but looked like he was 25. Which isn't done with just height and muscle mass. It's the face and just an all around different look with the body. I feel bad for him but Taylor looks 16, he does not look 25.

And some are saying that Taylor fits happy-go-lucky, wreckless, and sunshine. But I think alot of people forget that in the later part of book two and in book three, Jacob has a broody side as well. Being a werewolf makes him question his humanity and plus with the whole Bella breaking his heart thing. And I just can't see Taylor playing that part of Jacob. Where Steven can do both.

Steven Strait is 6"2, looks great with long hair, he fits the age requirement, he has similar features to Taylor's, he's ripped, he's a great actor, and who can say no to this smile...

Ok, here's my two cents.

Everyone questions whether Taylor Lautner can play the broody side of Jake. Well that's why he's an actor! The happy side came easy because that's what he's like in real life, but I think he could pull of angry and hateful too.

On to the physical aspect of it, no matter who they choose they'll have to use some kind of special affects to show the progression of height and bodily change, plus for the wolve phasing. Which, yeah, will be hard for Lautner but he's already putting on muscle. But this is why I think they should keep Taylor, he has the boyish charm of someone you could see as your bestguy friend. That's what Jake is supposed to represent and that's what I think Taylor has. In my opinion(note,I said MY opinion. That doesn't mean I think I'm right)I couldn't see Steven Strait or Michael Copon being Bella's best friend. If I HAVE to choose, I'd go with Strait I guess. But I still want them to keep Taylor, In my mind I've already put his face with Jacob's. And plus, Michael Copon is OLD to be playing a 17 year old. Think of the kiss he has with Bella during Eclipse I shudeder at the thought if Copon has to do it

thanks for expressing your opinion. and i do have to say that i agree, Taylor Lautner does make a really good human jacob.....but i really don't think he would be able to pull off the werewolf jacob. i mean i hate for them to switch characters (that's why i think sequels suck because they usually get different actors and we're supposed to use our imaginations to fill in the spaces. grr.) but i don't really think they have any other options. i mean they could make him appear to be as the book describes but that would leave more room for errors to happen. it would just be easier to get another actor.

When i read the books i had pictured someone so similar to steven that when i seen sky high I freaked out. (It just so happens, if you haven't seen sky high, that steven has long hair...it was kind of freaky.)

And the other guy you spoke of, Michael Copon, i didn't even give him much thought but your right he does look to old to play a 17 year old. he would make kirsten look way too young and Bella is supposed to be older.

Taylor was amazing in Twilight.

I guess part of the reason that I'm all for the switch is that even when i was reading the books I imagined book 1 Jacob and book 2 Jacob as two totally different people. Book 1 Jacob was a skinny, gangly, shy, happy-go-lucky, kind of naive and very sweet young fifteen year old. Where book 2 Jacob grew to be this muscular, gorgeous, confident, adventurous, brooding, man. With the sweet side and sunshine smile still intact.

Then when I read the description in New Moon, I went OMG that's Steven. But I must say that I had seen him in Sky High, Undiscovered, and the covenant by then.

And I never considered Michael Copon either, though for a much more vain reason. I don't think he looks very attractive with long hair, he should just keep it short.

yeah i def. agree. he would look horrible with long hair and i really can't see him playing a serious part because i've only seen him as a cheerleader.

Have you heard the news? Apparrently Taylor has been confirmed for Jacob in New Moon. I cant watch. I just have this fantasy Jacob and he so high on a pedestal and I really just want to imagine him the way he is in my head.

i absolutley adore steven. in fact, sm thought of him when she imagined jake in her head apparently. he really wouldnve been perfect. he's the right age aswell. i really dont know why ppl didnt approach him... but i still love taylor too. he grew on me after he didnt look so much like a kid and i didnt feel like a pedophile for ogling him lol. :S

yeah he would've been hot. albeit its because all the team edward girls would be ogling over jacob in the movies and paying no attention to rob. lol

i was kind of hoping that he would do new moon since they wanted to replace taylor. he wasn't filming anything so he was open but now that i think about it and after seeing taylor in the trailers he doesn't look that bad.

well steven can play jacob in my mind ANY day......*sigh*

I personally don't care that much who plays Jake, but I do have some preferance for Taylor. I love him so much! And it would make more sense to keep the same person. Cuz Jake does age a little bit, but his features don't change majorly. If they had someone who looked not the same at all, that would catch people off guard.
