Topic: National Novel Writing Month - It spans November, so get your thinking caps on!

Here's a thread for all our very talented (and game) Nanowrimoers to discuss the challenge.

*glomps Cuba* I loooove you, Cubs! Sorry, went really off-topic there for a moment. I'll come back and harass this thread later, I must sleep before my brain melts. (It's nearly midnight now)

Goodnight everyone xox Carrie

Oh, is anyone else having a hard time completing the challenge, or is it just me? :/

YAY CUBS! thanks =]

I'm a little bit behind, but frankly I could be worse off. I've got around 13,500 words, and I want to try to get as close to 20K today as I can... but I don't know if that's really going to happen, sooo....

But anyway, I'm off to write now. this is so much fun =]

And sorry we got so off topic in the Christmas project thread... feel free to delete all those posts, lol.

lol it's right. It'll take too long for me to be bothered deleting them, so they can stay and help boost the forum count.

Yay! Thanks for adding the topic Cuba!

Well... I'm not much further on from the post I made in the Christmas topic, still around 7,600 ish. I fully intend to write more - I love the beginning of my story, I just have to get it written.

What's everyone's webpages? If we post them here, we can link up through that =D

Good luck everyone! I know I'm struggling, but I'll get there - I determined to.

Ah, good idea kids. I'm finished uni for good tomorrow and I'm hoping to hit 15 000 on Wednesday.... yaaaay! It's terribly exciting. I'm really enjoying the challenge though, yeah. Back to blasted essay *sigh*

RyanKathrynCelia
Okay - nearly at 10,000. This is good because it's been hard for me to focus over the past few days. I also intend to be at 15,00 by Wednesday, and completely intend on catching up by the weekend, at whcih point I think we should be on something like 50,000 words.

I think my laptop was asking for a break - it kept giving me static shocks earlier when I touched on side of it... should I be worried about it? lol, nevermind - if I don't finish - or speak here evr again - blame the laptop...

Happy continued writing!

purtyinpink71121
My goal is to hit 25,000 by wednesday, cuz its the 15th... halfway through, you know? I'm at like 15,500 or so right now, and I was going to try to get to 20,000 tonight but I don't know if that's going to happen... oh well haha.

So today I was just walking around with one of my friends during school (because we didn't have class first hour) and we were talking about our novels! She isn't doing nanowrimo, but she is writing a novel, so together she and I were working out plot holes and stuff like that, and she gave me a really good idea about what to do at this one part... it was pretty cool and it was so cool, lol.

anyway, good luck everyone! this is fun, eh?

#10 Nov 12th 2007, 4:06pm
RyanKathrynCelia
lol, I worked it out to be that we had to be on 30,000 thousand by Sunday - saying that though it's only a guide. Some days you may write nothing, and others you may write loads. I know I have done tonight.

It is exciting isn't it? I never thought I'd doing anything like this before in my life - and look, here I am doing it =D

It's cool that you're friend and yourself are writing together. My friend and I were sitting downstairs earlier doing ours. We chose to sit down there because the TV had been moved upstairs because there was a conference here at the weekend. But it was brought down whilst we were writing, so of course actual people followed as well. I was writing my novel to 'Plup Fiction' tonight - charming. That and the person sitting on the chair next to me kept talking! We call in 'Slug' because he's really slimy - he was like 'What you writing then?' and I was like 'My novel'... then he started talking about how he broke something at Tesco's. He works there, and seriously loves that place too much... I think I may have mentioned him before...

NaNoWriMo is the National November Writers Month (right?... right?) where you have to write a 50 000 word novel by the end of this month... did I help any, Dizi? :S

Wow everyone.. I've been so busy with school that I haven't even hit the 3000 word block U_U; My daily routine includes coming home, doing homework, eating dinner and doing more homework. Its what I do -everyday-. I don't have time for this *sigh* It looks like it's next year for me then :/

Although that being said, I'm still going to continue and see how far I can get. :/

That's what the weekends are for - catch up =D, but I do know what you mean Carrie. Even if we don't make it, at least we damn well tried =D

Edit: Gah! Sorry, I got Carries and Cuba's name's confused... I saw Cuba's avie, but it was Carrie that had replie tot he previous post! Sorry!

Wow this sounds really interesting. Unfortunatly there's no way i can take part, i have almost negative amounts of time at the moment. It would be a great thing to do in July though, or sometime when I'm on holiday :)

Good luck to all you guys who took it up :)

#17 Nov 13th 2007, 6:51am
RyanKathrynCelia
lol Preida, the first one ever was held in July, but it got moved to November. I think everyone here knows how you feel though.

I did manage to get to 10,000 last night - I was way too tired.

Dizi, I added you as a buddy today! Good luck!

ugghh i'm not going to finish but that's okayyyy

i just posted my first chapter in my LJ lol it's...okay...lol a bit weird but...eventually i will write the rest of it, i just think i've got too much real life stuff that i can't really devote this much time to it lol but hey i still liked trying :)

#21 Nov 13th 2007, 9:32pm
RyanKathrynCelia
lol, I'm devoting almost all of today for catching up my word count. Still haven't made 10,000. So I want to be on at least 15,000 before the end of the day... It's be fine once I get into the 'zone' lol

I think it's more about the actual taking part, not the finishing Wit, because you can always do it again next year =D

#22 Nov 14th 2007, 2:04am
RyanKathrynCelia
We had a nanowrimo meet up today with some of the other participants in our area - how cool was that? And we're having another one next week at the same time - hehe.

I'm now on 14,000 - doing more catch up tonight.

#23 Nov 15th 2007, 8:31am
Lexie-H
Goodness I've hit about 12/13 000 now... which is still a good 12000 behind where I should be! But that doesn't matter. I'll get lots done today =)

I dont know whether or not I'll finish, but that's not really the important thing, is it?

As for local meets - mine are no where near where I live, they're all in the north or the west of the city, so uh... yeah I'll give it a miss. Besides, I already have a support group (ie. you guys) lol

#24 Nov 15th 2007, 2:55pm
RyanKathrynCelia
lol - I managed to hit 16,000 + but as you say it's still behind by about 9,000. I should be off to bed really, because I'm off to the American Embassy tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to get some done on the train to London...

Yay! lol, it's not really a support group but just a see who's doing it kind of thing.

Met another fanfictioner, but she quit the site ages ago - but it's still cool ^^

Anyways - off to bed - have to be up early tomorrow!

*glomps everyone*

Yay NaNoers! :)

I'm about 150 words away from 20,000 at the mo... maybe I'll even break 21,000 tonight?

#26 Nov 17th 2007, 7:27pm
RyanKathrynCelia
hehe good luck - it's quite refreshing once you hit the mark =D

I made a hughe jump at the weekend, but still about 10,000 words behind... will do more today.

#27 Nov 18th 2007, 11:20pm
something-like-love
I'm still about 4,000 words behind... but I only have school until Tuesday, and then it's Thanksgiving Break! Woohoo! :D
#28 Nov 19th 2007, 5:30am
RyanKathrynCelia
lol - I was hoping to do some catch up tonight, but it turns out I'm working, and it seems like they actually want me to do actual work now - there was a list of things that I have to do posted under my door... means I can't get paid for doing my nanowrimo now =[

Never mind - have tomorrow off =D

#29 Nov 19th 2007, 7:18am
CaramelBoost
You guys are so ahead.. I haven't haven't had any time to work on it - not even weekends. *tear* ... And there are group meetings?! :O

That's cool. :D

#30 Nov 19th 2007, 7:54am
purtyinpink71121
I'm about 8,000 words behind... we're supposed to be at 35K today if I did my calculations correctly *dies*

BUT IT'S THANKSGIVING BREAK! So I'm definitely going to be writing a lot more starting soon. Nano was also the reason for my random 3 day disappearance... but I'm back lol.

I'm really not too worried though... I'm about 5,000 words ahead of the guy who created this whole thing haha.

Another random fact... one of my friends who is a writer is also writing a novel, but she's not doing it for nanowrimo. Here's the crazy part... shes got like 65,000 words! She won't let me read it yet, though, which is a bummer, but I'm trying to talk her into it. The catch is that she wants to read my nanowrimo before I can read her novel... and I'm not ready to share it yet due to lack of editing haha.

Anyway... happy writing!

P.S. Love, what's your user profile on the nano site? Send me a link and I'll add you as a buddy!

This is Lexie who for some reason hasn't bothered to log out yet...

Anyway! I'm not going to be able to submit my Nano because I won't have any internet access on the 30th! Devastated, but I'm determined to finish it next week anyway (sigh) because I'm going away with friends... gah. A bit devastated but... there's always next year I suppose

#33 Nov 21st 2007, 6:54pm
RyanKathrynCelia
You could submit it a day early? I'm going to try to because I'm out on the 30th as well
#34 Nov 22nd 2007, 12:35pm
Lexie-H
But I can't. I'm gone all next week! (That's what sucks particularly badly...)
#35 Nov 22nd 2007, 2:23pm
RyanKathrynCelia
Oh dear - well it's not about submitting it to the site really is it? It's about the challenge of getting to 50,000.

Since my rant in the Sort of Secrets topic I've almost cause up. In about 5 minutes (because the it will be midnight) I will be three thousand words behind - which I can catch up on tomorrow ^^ yay! I'm excited for the finish line now - only 16,000 left!

purtyinpink71121
My story is going so well!!!!!

I keep coming up with plot twists and things, and I'm so happy! I haven't let anyone read it yet, and I'm just about bursting! I can't wait to finish it. I'm almost worried that I'm not going to finish it in 50K words, actually, that I'm going to go over lol.

Anyway, gotta go, I'm going to try to get to 33K or 34K tonight =]

#37 Nov 22nd 2007, 5:04pm
RyanKathrynCelia
I know what you mean! I was writing quite a boring scene the other day and I came up with a great twist for the end - something I didn't even expect.

Goof luck with your writing purty!

I think I'm going to faint. I have done a huuuuge effort this weekend with Nanowrimo and I'm about 5000 shy of completing the word count!!!!! Anyone impressed?? (Of course, I can't take complete credit, as the nature of my story is to also be threaded with factual quotes, but you know... 45 000!!!! =D)

I'm going to push and finish tonight, I think. Very exciting

Well done Lexie!

Unforunately it's work time for me, so not sure if I will finish now, but on the plus side, I only have 14,000 left! I can do that, but I have other work due now =(...

Never mind, there is next year as well (I haven't accepted defeat yet though)...

YAY LEXIE!

yeah, I woke up today and saw my friends page and was just like WOAH! when did lexie get 45,000!? lol

Great work! I'm about to go do some serious writing... I've got about 36,000 too, so 14,000 to go! I think I'm going to be able to do it, especially since I don't have school tomorrow =]

LEXIE YOU WON!

Good job girl! I just saw it! =]

#43 Nov 25th 2007, 2:12pm
Lexie-H
Lol thank you. It's absolute rubbish, but I got there =P

5000 words per day for 6 days caught me up... manageable if you have nothing better to do, and being on holidays, I don't. But I cheated toward the end and stopped writing stuff in order, so what happens is you get lovely big chunks of word count for parts of the story you're not even up to, yet, and then you have to work it back in: but that's a good way to stay motivated, if you're struggling with a linear story! Write stuff you're interested in writing and fix the fillers later lol
