Double post - sorry!

I'd suggest losing the "general" category, and putting the stories nominated there into the most appropriate other one, then combining the drama and adventure categories into one, which would eliminate most of the overlap/repetition. You'd still need to make a decision about where to put one or two stories "The Letter" notably.

It would still leave the most nominated stories up against each other, but you could get over that by putting every nominated story into one poll for the "Gold award" (or something!), which could have Silver and Bronze too, of course...

I'm assuming something can be in the "Staff" category as well as in another?

Yes, absolutely. Staff Choice is a special category =)

.... Hmm. I like that idea, actually....

Certainly we'll have to combine some categories.

The penultimate Reviewer's Choice Award IS like the 'gold' award, though, so ... that's why I was thinking perhaps it shouldn't be on net votes (because that could make for some ties, and stuff) and instead have its own category comprising of the most nominated stories?

Anyway, I have to go to university, so this shall have to be sorted out later *sigh*

Thanks, though, what you say makes a lot of sense (as always, though I suppose it goes with the territory, being Katy and Wise, and all =P)

Hardly very wise!

I was just thinking it was fairer to put all the stories in one poll, becasue it puts them all on a level playing field. Something like "Fools" or "The Letter" is almost bound to get more nominations (not thatt they don't deserve them) because they fit in more than one category. Whereas you really couldn't nominate something like "Strategfist extraordinaire" (just as an example) for more than the humour category.

If you do a blind poll, you could always do a second one as a tie-breaker if necessary.

Seeing as I couldn't find the answer - what are we doing where a story is nominated in more than one category?

Also, are we keeping the general category or not?

3. Courage, Sort of

- Best Review

1. Cuba, Ten Lost Paths: "Too many authors fall back upon Luna for comic relief, what with all her obscure creatures and her inability to react normally to situations that other people find humiliating. You've taken her from ditzy dumb blonde and added to some of the deeper aspects of her character, which I enjoyed."

2. Honda, First Muggle Friend: “I wish the girls bonded over a doll, showing Rona that all girls, Muggle or not, are still girls. It would've reinforced her mother's statements. With her being confused by the lack of moving pictures and tv, it showed differences between the girls. I'm sure that's not what you wanted.” (Explanation: Hondagirl was right. The whole point of my one-shot was to show that the girls were similar, despite their bloodlines. Instead, I did the complete opposite at the end of the story and just made their differences even more obvious.)

3. mustardgirl1128, Birthdays and Beyond (Chapter 65): "FLEUR DIED?!?! HOW CAN YOU DO THIS?!?!? AAH! *freaks out* Okay...breathing...whew...in, out, in out...cleansing breath... Sorry about that. But...FLEUR DIED?? How...how...why...what...WAH! But she's FLEUR! I mean--I mean...BIll would die if Fleur died! NO! They can't loose 3 people in the course of...well, I dunno how long. But seriously! HOW CAN YOU DO THIS! It's a lovely chapter...but I cannot focus on a good review...*swears under breath* I think I'm gonna have to go to bed now...I'm sorry for my inadequete (sp) review! It's IS a great chapter... UPDATE! I MUST FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS! UPDATE! *does the update dance*" (Explanation: May not be the most constructive review ever, but it made me laugh hysterically!)

- Best Oneshot

1. The Valley of the Departed Minds and Souls

2. Duty

3. When the Free Summer Comes

4. Absolution

Right. We're closing the nominations.

I think we decided multiple-nominated stories can only be voted on in one 'genre' category. Best General Story is not something I consider 'genre' so that's all good. The penultimate Award will still be most-voted-for-story in one category (doesn't matter which) so .... if the story is up for several different awards, we don't lump every single vote it receives together. (because Katy is right - just because a story fits into lots of categories doesn't necessarily mean it should win just because of it)

That means we still need to sort out which genres certain stories are standing for!!!

(Thanks for the listage, Cubs!)

Yeah, I wasn't sure, so I left it. Make whatever changes you want. :)

No, it looks great!!!

All right... we need to sort out which categories these stories should stand in. Surprisingly, since we're leaving 'General' alone, there's only two that we have 'genre' issues with. I'd some more opinions, please!

The Letter: Romance or Drama/Adventure/Mystery/Suspense?? (I'm thinking second category....)

Lessons: Drama/Adventure/Mystery/Suspense or Angst/Hurt/Comfort/Tragedy? (I have NO opinion here, because I haven't read it yet....)

Huh - that's a lot simpler than I expected

I'd be more likely to go with the second. :)

In that case, the polls are done. Would you like me to set up the forum?

Actually, no.

Thrice (for those who've read it) - best drama/adventure, original idea or chapter story?

... but they can only not stand for more than one genre, Cuba, and original idea and chaptered story are both independant of this ... so it can stand for all three??

And yes please - are you logged into this account too? I'm moving the C2 over, it's a surprisingly quick and mindless task, I don't know why I didn't use this for procrastination earlier.... lol

Nope, but I can log in now and do it. I'm avoiding my science assignment, so I have nothing better to do.

Why can I only make one forum topic every eight hours?

Really? that's odd.....

(as usual, I have no idea, so my fallback answer is going to be 'it hates you'?)

Can you log in while I'm logged in???

I did, but I forgot that all the polls are made up under my profile.

The forum is under the RL penname, but I was just going to make the topics with my account... I might try adding myself to the mods, and see if that works.
