I don't really see Aisha with Tommy that much. Though, I WOULD break my rule and give her to Adam since I just think they would look so cute together. I guess it's just cuz they come from Stone Canyon and they know more about one another. And as far as 'having it all be the way you believe', ummm...if that's their son, judging by both their appearances and voices, plus slow movements, I'd say Kat had that baby when she was like 60, EWW! I doubt her equipment would be working still.

For Kat, I choose Tommy. They just appeal more to me than Jason/Kat- whom I had no real problem with. Now, I get a lil annoyed when "writers" put JaKat together for stupid reasons. Like using em as props for the OMG, FOREVER, MADE FOR EACH OTHER, Ohhh, IT'S DESTINY couple: Tommy and Kim. I like T/Kim just fine- basically for what they WERE. Very sweet couple. I like Tommy/Kat for what they were. Sweet couple with maturity and mutual understanding.

Truthfully, I am a sucker for unconventional pairings. Looooooove to mix 'em up. Rocky/Kat, Zack/Aisha, Rocky/Trini (YES, I'M SERIOUS), Adam/Kat, Rocky/Tanya, etc. I like the challenge of selling couples like that to readers. Making 'em believable. LOL. But, there are a few I find kinda special: Jason/Kim, Billy/Trini, Zack/Trini.

And I may like ToKim well enough, but, I'm not a fan of TomKim fics for the most part. Because it's so much of the same frigging thing. And I'm not a big fan of the "it's been years since ya dumped me, but, hey, my love only got stronger, so let's get back together cuz we are soulmates" crap, either. That's why I have a low opinion of reunion fics, basically. 85% of T/Kim reunion fics are garbage, IMHO. Enough with the damn: 'Kim shows up in Reefside because she's Kira's aunt, meets up with Tommy and *gasp* looky here... they NEVER FELL OUTTA LOVE.' Or the 'Kim shows up in Reefside and Tom finds out he's got a son."

It makes me crazy! Those writers ignore characterization- KILL the characterization- just to get their fave couuple back together. Bashing Kat won't make a TomKim story appealing or exciting. It makes it pathetic. It's like you're saying a Tommy and Kim romance is too boring to read about and that their relationship can't stand on its own. Like I've said many times before, if ya hate a character, just leave 'em outta your story- it's not hard, I promise. If you feel that your story will FAIL w/o the pointless bashing, then, you're not ready to be any kind of writer anyhow and that is something to work on. Always room for improvement. Every sensible, mature person understands that.

Oh, and I since I prefer to write adult romances, I'll pair Tommy with Kat, Hayley or a well-written OC. Not Kim because I just don't feel the two of them as an adult couple. With Kat, I really do. Makes more sense. Just like Jason/Kim- whom I have the BIGGEST soft spot for. They fit well, IMO.

Interesting, I really liked reading your explanation. I agree with a lot of what you said. I like Jason/Kat together more than Tommy/Kat just because there is something so entirely sweet and understanding that is with Jason/Kat. Tommy and Kat do have that maturity and understanding and that's why I prefer Tommy with Kat than Kim. However Jason/Kat, they just seem to fit so easily, their personalities work well together.

I do agree that most Tommy/Kim fics are the same. I don't like the bashing, you're right leave the character out or put them in the background. It's ridiculous and it does nothing. It takes away from the story. Those reunion fic stories that have Kim be related to a thousand different characters are ridiculous.

Now I do disagree that Tommy and Kim couldn't be together when they're older. I think that they could. I mean I imagine Kim has dated and found different men, maybe only a couple that she's loved and had great relationships with. And Tommy has continued onward, dated himself. The two meet in person for a friends wedding or graduation and they become friends again. I don't think they would jump into the romantic relationship again right away. I think that they become friends and after some time they then become more. But it's slow and it's slow because they aren't still in love with each other or whatnot. They slowly fall in love. So I do think that it could happen.

I hear ya and I agree. I never said they COULDN'T reunite. I just prefer them to be together when the story is written during the HS years, ya know? I'll admit that most of the reunion fics is probably what have me not much caring for them as a couple in their adult years- because it's usually poorly written. But, yeah, I do know that they could be. :)

Oops, I guess I read that wrong, I see what you mean. Reading stories where they reunite and are completely in love and such, that doesn't work well. And I can see how that would turn you off of them. And it makes sense also that you would prefer stories when they're in high school. Fans have turned me off of other things and so I understand what you're saying.
