Topic: Rules
First of all, you must be familiar with the Yu-Gi-Oh Rules, as of at least volume 4.0. You must also be familiar with dueling outside of forums, with your friends. I can't offer you a tutorial on how to play the whole game right now, just the online format. Please begin each of your turns with a template that looks like this.

Life Points: 8000

Deck: 33 Cards

Hand: 3 Cards

Monster Zone: Luster Dragon(1900ATK/900DEF)

Magic/Trap Zone: 1(Face-Down)

Current Arena: NONE

Graveyard: (CONTENTS)

Then, you must describe what you're doing on your turn. You must ask your opponent if they would like to start a chain after every time you attack, play a magic card etc. to avoid confusion if they do want to start a chain. You must then end your turn with another template, identacle to the first one in form, with your UPDATED information. Your newest Template should always be the one that is EXACTLY correct.

Yeah. FFFX, Zee, and... who else?

Hey Tulip. Do you have any ideas for additions or revisions for the Forbidden and Limited List?

#23 May 31st 2007, 3:31pm
Tulip-Jin
...Not really. I've been following the official banned-restricted list anyway, so I haven't really been paying strict attention to this one. ^_^()
#24 May 31st 2007, 3:33pm . Edited May 31st 2007, 3:33pm
LostInHyrule
Mine's a little less stringent. I don't ban any cards unless they're stupid good. Do you think I should ban Raigeki?
#25 May 31st 2007, 3:34pm
Tulip-Jin
Yours makes me think of the 'Traditional Format' banned-restricted list.

That one's not as strigent as the 'Advanced Format' banned-restricted list, which is used in tournaments and the one I use.

http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/yugioh/en/gameplay/forbidden/default.aspx

See if this gives you any ideas.

#26 May 31st 2007, 3:46pm
LostInHyrule
Hmm... not really.

Do you guys think I should ban Raigeki? I think I might, for being too good. I don't know what some of the other cards do.

I'm officially banning Cyber Jar#1 and #2 because their effects could wreeck havoc on an online form, because there'd be so much to add to your template and to do and... ugh.

#27 Jun 01st 2007, 12:00pm
Michelle H. C. Zhu
YES.

BAN RAIGEKI.

AND HARPIES FEATHER DUSTER.

Limit Monster Reborn and Graceful Charity to one.

Unban Emens the Infinity and Trap Hole. Emes the Infinty is a terrible card that I don't even begin to understand it's reason on the banned list. Nobody uses that over Bottomless Trap hole anyway, plus Exiled Force pawns Trap Hole too.

...there is no Cyber Jar #2. If you mean Morphing Jar #2, meh...then ban Fiber Jar as well. Fiber Jar is the deadliest of all the jars.

#28 Jun 01st 2007, 12:53pm
LostInHyrule
I don't really want to ban the Feather Duster, but Raigeki goes.

I banned all the jars, as their in-depth effects suck and wouldn't really work on this online format.

Emis the infinity, if I remember, gains 700 attack every time it deals damage. In 2 turns it could have 3900 attack. Ouch.

#29 Jun 01st 2007, 1:09pm
Michelle H. C. Zhu
Except for Cobra Jar, right? :P

Sorry, but I disagree with your ban on Emes the Infinity. It's a two-tribute monster summon. And the effect works when it destroys a monster and sends it to the graveyard.

If something like Banisher of Light was in play or Marco Cosmos, the effect would not work.

Besides -- very, very few duelists win duels by beatdown in tournments these days. That's why you rarely see BEWD in competitions. What's the point of a high ATK monster? They're so vulnerable to everything. For example:

"Now I sacrifice Spirit Reaper and Airknight Parshath to summon Emes the Infinity!!!"

"I chain with Bottomless Trap Hole. Too bad you used up your only defenses. You lose."

"Aww, shucks..."

OR:

"Emes the Infinity! Attack his Mashmallon!"

"Sakuretsu Armor."

"Shittake mushrooms."

Limit Level - Area B, Gravity Bind, and Messenger of Peace all make fun of him.

Book of Moon and Tsuyukomi laugh at him. Use their effects and BOOM. He's down to his original 2,500 and a monarch equipped with Big Bang Shot can kill him.

Exiled Force kills it...Mirror Force kills it...Ring of Destruction kills it...

Really. It's not a great card.

#30 Jun 01st 2007, 3:40pm
Tulip-Jin
Be specific on what jars you want banned. There are a lot of jars, and most of them don't have effects worth banning. Except for the Morphing Jar and Cyber Jar, those that shouldn't be banned don't even need to be limited, really.
#31 Jun 01st 2007, 7:11pm
LostInHyrule
Maybe... Hmm...

What is Cobra Jar?

#32 Jun 01st 2007, 7:11pm
Tulip-Jin
When Cobra Jar is flipped, it summons a serpent token (500 atk 500 def) which causes direct damage when destroyed (300 damage, if I remember correctly)

Should I just list all the jars, then?

#33 Jun 01st 2007, 7:14pm
LostInHyrule
Just the ones that have game-changing headache-inducing ones like Cyber or Morphing Jars.
#34 Jun 01st 2007, 7:18pm
Michelle H. C. Zhu
Sorry Jin, but you seem to be under the conception I have the following: 1) Patience 2) A life.

Monster Cards:

Morphing Jar (Morphing Pod)

Morphing Jar #2 (Morphing Pod #2)

Cyber Jar (Cyber Pod)

Fiber Jar

Dimension Jar

Dice Jar

Dragon Capture Jar

Cobra Jar (Snake Pot)

Magic Cards:

Jar Robber

Trap Cards:

Jar of Greed

#35 Jun 01st 2007, 7:21pm
Michelle H. C. Zhu
And it really depends on what 'game-changing means'.

Like Dice Jar, for example, can deal as little as 2,000 to 6,000 life points. So it depends.

#36 Jun 01st 2007, 7:22pm
LostInHyrule
Can you tell me what its effect is?

And by "Game-Changing" I mean something as headache-inducing as taking all the cards on the field, discarding them, and replacing them.

#37 Jun 01st 2007, 7:24pm
Tulip-Jin
Dragon Capture Jar is a trap card, not a monster card.
#38 Jun 01st 2007, 7:25pm
LostInHyrule
Yeah, that's true. It's a pretty sucky card, too.
#39 Jun 01st 2007, 7:39pm
Tulip-Jin
What about broken cards? Those need to be at least limited to 1, if not banned.
#40 Jun 01st 2007, 8:00pm
LostInHyrule
What is a Broken Card? An explanation and a list would be appreciated... ^_^
#41 Jun 01st 2007, 9:05pm
Tulip-Jin
'Broken' is slang for a card that's too powerful to use. Monster Reborn is an example of a broken card because you can special summon any monster from either Graveyard under any condition with no LP payment, sacrifices, or any other conditions.
#42 Jun 01st 2007, 9:13pm
LostInHyrule
I'll limit them better. Can you list some?
#43 Jun 01st 2007, 9:50pm
LostInHyrule
The forbidden and limited list has been edited.
#44 Jun 01st 2007, 9:52pm
Michelle H. C. Zhu
Thanks for pointing that out, Jin. Must have missed it.

Some broken cards?

Breaker the Magical Warrior

Magician of Faith (Saint Magician)

Delinquent Duo (Double Demon Twins)

Exchange of Spirit (Reversal of Worlds)

Tribe-infecting Virus

Yata-Garasu

#45 Jun 02nd 2007, 8:36am
LostInHyrule
Hmm... some of those cards I don't really look at as broken. I agree with Tribe Infecting Virus, Yata-Garasu, and Exchange of Spirit, but... Magician of Faith? You have to waste a turn's summoning on it. And Delinquent Duo? You have to sacrifice 1000 lifepoints!

EDIT: I just looked up Breaker the Magical Warrior. It doesn't seem really broken, just very good. I might consider adding one to my deck...

#46 Jun 02nd 2007, 8:57am . Edited Jun 02nd 2007, 8:59am
Michelle H. C. Zhu
Fine, not Delinquent Duo. Magician of Faith is the key to Cookie Jar decks, but fine, don't ban that either. (Just limit it to two. Please.)

Tsuyukomi (Moon Diviner) kills literally EVERYTHING.

EVERYTHING.

Monarchs die to it.

Cyber Dragon dies to it.

Nearly every single E and D-hero dies to it.

Both Breaker the Magical Warrior and Tribe-infecting Virus dies to it.

It breaks the Maruading Captain/Command Knight/Spirit of Victory Freya/Solar Flare Dragon lock AND kills them all. (With the exception of Command Knight.)

(I'm listing the monsters that see the most play. So obviously Spirit of the Harp with her 2000 DEF can't get scratched by Tsuyukomi but most people don't waste a slot in their deck for her.)

#47 Jun 02nd 2007, 9:59am
Michelle H. C. Zhu
Oh, and ban The Seal of Orichalcos.

It does exist.

There are fifteen of the cards in existence.

O_________O

Despite what most people think, THIS CARD DOES EXIST. There are only 15 copies in existence, all in the possession of members of Upper Deck Entertainment's R&D division, who used them in the Decks they played in the Orichalcos "Duel the Master" side event at previous National Tournaments.

#48 Jun 02nd 2007, 10:03am
Tulip-Jin
...The thing is, I'm following the Advanced version of the official banned-restricted list, so I don't really care what this list bans, to be perfectly honest.
#49 Jun 02nd 2007, 11:26am
Michelle H. C. Zhu
I don't agree with certain things on the banned list, so for causal duels such as these ones, I tend to mix and match to my whim. That means no Raigeki/Thunderbolt or Harpy's Feather Sweep, but I do use Cyber Pod and ocassionally Graceful Charity/Angel's Gift.
