I just wanted to let you all know that since a week or two ago, I started reading stories in FanFiction, and for fun I decided to make a list of the best and worst fics here. I'll read every single story in FanFiction (about Twilight basically) and review each chapter giving my personal opinion. I'm planning on making a puntuation system were I'll puntuate every story. I wanted to know if I could post a topic/thread with my list when I start making it? I think this way people will start writing better things.

Thanks for taking your time and reading this. If anyone is interested in helping me or want to recomend me any story or want me to tell you about your story, just message me. I'll start posting the list in my profile soon so you may want to go and check it out.

I'm going to have to say no to this for the moment, because I think it's kind of rude. I know that on your profile it says being rude isn't your intention, but getting a bad review on a fic is bad enough. I don't see why having it posted so publicly like that is necessary. Not that reviews aren't public, but people would be more likely to read them if they're all in one place on someone's profile.

The main reason I am against this is that one person saying a story is terrible is more likely to make more people go and say that story is terrible, and that's more discouraging and hurtful for the writer then anything else. You may be nice and try to tell a person where their faults are, but others may see that and be tempted to just flat out flame the person. The way your project is going at the moment, I don't see it encouraging better writing much at all, except for the people who are already getting good reviews.

I would support this project of yours much more if you tried to tell people not only what's bad about a fic, but what's good about it as well. All I could see from skimming your reviews was that the writers were either showered with praise or told that their story sucked. You see, no story is perfect, and very, very, very few are honestly all bad.

But, this is all my opinion, of course. Do any of the other mods have something to say about making a thread for him/her?

One last thing - the next time you make your first post in a forum it may make the mods a bit more willing to help you if you read the rules first. ;)

TLDR: I think limiting it to helpful reviews, posted on the story itself and not on your profile, and keeping track of the best stories in your community, like you already are, would be more beneficial.

Yeah, I have low self-esteem when it comes to my fanfics, and I'd end up commiting fanfictional suicide.

I don't think it's very good for that, because an issue of cyber bullying might come up-I speak from experiance.

And the Twilight Rewritten by TwilightHP, she/he just wrote: “Bella Swan meets some interesting people at her new high school. hehehe.” Do you think this is a story? I don't, and it's not even funny. I think this is disrespectful to readers who want to read stories, not just a simple line which isn't even funny. thing...That's like saying we should ban drabble. It's funny to people who want it to be funny not *** faced critisizers. Fanfic is for enjoyment and fun, not to be picked to peices by people.

And that is twilight rewritten. It's just done in a style in which *** faced people don't understand.

Well, one sentence really isn't a story, so I see where they're coming from. A drabble and a sentence are completely different though, because drabbles have to be 100 words. That's a sentence, and it's only 12 words.

I agree with the thought that fanfiction should be fun, but from what I've seen a lot of people are trying to hone their writing skills by writing fics before trying something that is totally their own. They won't be able to do that if all anyone ever does is keep praising them. I'm not saying, however, that anyone should be subjected to criticism they don't want.

The list I was planning on posting was about the best stories, not the bad ones. My intention is not to make people follow me and review saying it’s a bad story too. It’s my personal opinion, I’m not making you all go and review the same as I am… or am I? We all have different tastes. What some may find funny, it’s for others.

We are all humans, and of course there won’t be a perfect story here. And I’m not trying to make them all be perfect or anything. I just want to point out things writers should try to improve and help them find the things they aren’t strong in.

And -FairyFreak12-, of course, if you enjoy reading the Twilight Rewritten by TwilightHP and you find it funny good for you. Maybe you should add it to your favorites. And, yes, I am an *** faced criticiser but I’m honest.

Of course not. I wasn't trying to say you would, simply that something like this always has the chance of making others want to go out and do the same, but they might not be as nice about it.

Okay, so you have 10 stories posted on your profile at the moment (if my math skills aren't failing me) and I read your reviews on your profile and then read some of the reviews you left. At least half of them state only good or only bad things.

What I really mean by leaving helpful reviews is this: if you don't have something good to say about it, instead of just saying that it didn't work, why didn't it work? You said you don't like mary-sues, but what if the person who wrote it doesn't know what a mary-sue is, or why they don't belong in fanfiction? You said someone's rhymes weren't great, but why weren't they? If you don't give honest explanations, then you can't expect the person to improve. And in the good fics, it's always good to leave them with something you didn't like or were unsure of because they need to improve as well - it's just something you're never done doing. I looked at your reviews, and I don't really see this on your profile or the actual stories. Could you provide me with specific examples where you do these things?

Alright, so about making a topic. I think this is a good idea and everything, but Twilightdom is already so overloaded with unused topics and we've got to be careful of the ones we make. If it's okay with you, I'll watch over this project of yours for the next few days, and then decide to make a topic or not. I'd also like to wait and see if we can get anymore opinions on this. :)

Hi, I have been on this forum for a while now. Just haven't been on it for a while. Well, I saw an email from fanfic that just shocks me. So, I thought that I would have to reply to this.

I totally disagree to this Mysecondnameis - criticism. Because why? I think that you don't have the authority to judge people's stories. No one has the authority. Some of the authors here write for fun and not for serious multichapters. It's actually up to them, what they want to write about and we don't have the legal right to discourage people and let people to shame like that! That is the act of flamers! who think that they have so-called-good written stories or they just have nothing in their bare minds to do but flame people. I think you don't actually want to flame people right? It's just that you want to alert people about their mistakes and to let them know. Actually, they would know it. Because they would definitely get some reviews from flamer and they don't need the "double shame". If you are a writer yourself, you would know how it actually feels when you get flamers judging your stories. I've met somone who was flamed so badly that she QUIT writing stories! Her stories were not that badly written, it's just that she has problems in settling her paragraphs right. Still people flamed her like hell.

I'm sure you wouldn't want anyone to quit writing because of you right? by putting their name and stories on some sort af an "advertisment board". I looked at your profile and I noticed that you are not a writer yourself. So, how can put up people's name up to shame like that? If you yourself don't show how good your cards are. I think you know what I mean,right? I think every writer has his/her moments and will eventually improve their writing skills. Nobody in this world is a naturally talented writer. Nobody. I think if you ask J.K Rowling and Stephenie Meyer or even Ann Rice for that matter, they would say that at first they themselves have problems in writing stories. Nobody in this world is ever perfect. There would always be other people whom are better than you. But, the only thing that we could do is to improve and improve.

So, I think I have made my points loud and clear and would just want to advice people to not flame people and some would eventually discourage them from writing. And to make another claim, I am not an excellent writer and I have the right to improve my writing skills as I go along with my stories. And I thank people who are in the support of my stories.

*ahem* okay. so. i personally love a good system of constructive criticism. because anyone on here who's ever asked me to read something of theirs knows that i'm an absolute **, but i do try to be helpful. so i think if you want to start this mission of reviewing every fanfic in the twilight fandom, by all means have at it. should it be put in twilightdom, though? here's the problem. like the absolutely fabulously lovely jarc has already mentioned, twilightdom is already ridiculously bogged down in random threads. and for a comprehensive system of reviewing, it would have to be freaking MASSIVE. i mean, seriously. so that people can easily find reviews that they're looking for, you'd have to have separate threads to list the stories alphabetically, or by author, or by rating, or maybe a thread listing every story alphabetically with its following overall rating like a filing system, so that people can then go to the corresponding rating thread and look for it....... big mess. i mean, in twilightdom.

so. here's what i'm thinking. there's no reason why you shouldn't create a system of reviewing and open it for public opinion. i would, in fact, applaud the endeavor... just not here. i think it's so large an endeavor that it really would require having its own forum. but i wouldn't object to having a sort of affiliation with you, if the other mods wouldn't mind either. you know, like finding someplace in this maze of a forum to link to your reviews so that, if people want, they can see what you have to say and even contribute. but, for my conscience to be clean on that one, the review you would be doing/allowing to be contributed would have to be constructive. if you're there to guide them down the path of better writing then by god take them by the hand and drag them down it.... which is my post-finals way of attempting to metaphorically say teach them how to fix what you think is wrong.
