Sweet Obsidian RainTopic: RULES // Newcomers, please read before you post anything!
Due to more and more members joining this forum, but not everyone seeming to know where the rules are, I decided to make a separate rules thread so that the forum mapping thread can be by itself. Please note that you “must follow them!” (as Casie says), and there will be consequences (mostly includes having your posts deleted and getting eaten by pink elephants =D) if you do not. The first few times, we’ll let it slide, but after repeated warnings, do notice that the mods can ban you. n_n But we'd like to try and avoid that because banning is too much of a pain. So if you make a mistake and violated one of the rules by accident because you’re new here, well, that’s okay. You’ll learn. XD Fellow forumers who have been around, please continue with your wonderful job of helping us warn the newcomers. A lot of these are common forum etiquettes, but anyway: 1. NO FLOODING. That is a given. For those of you who do not understand the meaning of flooding, it means to fill a thread/topic with posts that do not relate to the topic. Example: carrying on a conversation in the Introductions Thread is totally not A-OK. If you want to flood, we do have flooding threads. If you do not know which ones they are, ask any member, and they shall tell you. 2. No double posting unless it's like a really old thread that you want to revive, and you were the last one to post there before it died. If you want to say something after you have posted (provided that it’s not a thread that needs reviving), go edit your post. Don’t know how? Here: At the bottom of your post, there's: Reply and Mod. Click on Mod You'll have these options: Reply » Edit . Report Abuse . Delete Post . « (Well, I know -I- have) Click on Edit. You can only Edit your own post. I can do whatever I want though XD So just write "Delete this post" if you want it deleted... Please mention when you've edited one of your posts by adding in an 'edit: __' or 'e: ____' or 'ETA: ___' or something of the like. Unless it is some spelling error that you want to go back to fix but don't want people to know =D 3. No tYpin lyk tHiz or w8 lyk this. Please type properly with proper grammar and mechanics. Capitalization would be nice. ^_^ ('Would be nice' also means 'practically mandatory' just to clarify. Really. n_n) Things like LOL, ROFL, btw, and etc. are fine, but just… Don’t overdo it. I think you know what I mean, yes? If you have spellcheck that can be installed on your browser (or already is), by all means, use it. Of course, everyone makes mistakes and typos, so as long as you try, we won’t go all OCD on you. 4. No discrimination. Respect everyone. I’m fine with the cussing/cursing and sometimes inappropriate discussion, but please do watch the people around you. 5. For the interactive thread, it is not to be used for self-inserts, etc. No Mary Sues unless it's for parody uses. OCs are welcomed as long as it doesn't turn into a story about them. And I mean -OCs-. Not a sue. 6. Annoy your mods and you die (or will suffer severe consequences XD). Don’t bash JE or Royal (well, Dudly and Casie will kill you for that). (Unless you have really really good reasons to~). Don't annoy your co-forumers, on the order of Dudly-chama. She'll eat yah and Casie-nee-chan will stampede you with big purple elephants and Rea-chan-senpai would probably take a dictator whip and blah~ XD As said by Kura. XDD I couldn't resist putting this here. 7. Because only mods can create threads, if you want a new thread to be made, please plead your case at POT Minutes. If you have questions about the forum in general, direct them to the flooding thread or PM one of the mods. I'm sure the others and I would love to help you. Also, please read through the "Everything you know about the forum" thread first before asking anything in case your question(s) has been answered. 8. If you have any problems, questions, etc. with anything on our forum, do ask one of the mods or a forumer who has been around for a while. We’ll try out best to help you. (Yes, this rule totally overlaps a bit with rule seven. So what? XD) That’s it. The list may or may not be expanded, but I really hope not. From now on, any posts that do not abide by the proper forum etiquette/rules WILL be deleted. Someone will warn you and tell you what you did wrong, most likely, but just know that if you continue to ignore the warnings, you will be banned. Not trying to sound mean because I know we seem to be adding a lot of new rules and getting stricter, but with more and more people joining, we need to established a firm line as to what we can do and not do as to not to upset others. But I still think we're pretty free here, what with talking about totally inappropriate stuff. XD Also, to prove that yes, you have read the rules before posting, put “Yes, honey, I understand” at the top of your introductions post at the Intro thread. If you don't post this, then I’ll assume you did not read this thread and will proceed to harass you until you do. n_n Please make sure you have the whip ready, Casie. XDDDD Also, do post at the Reminders thread if you are planning to stick around. By the way, reading the 'everything you need to know about the forum' thread would help you a lot. n_n | #1 Feb 26th, 7:06pm . Edited Aug 27th, 1:44pm | |
