Dudly You all know it... there are two kinds of story: the ones that are completed within one chapter, and the ones that goes on and develop, making us wait...

Which one is your favorite to read or to write about?

Personnately, oneshots are my little pleasures ^^ They are quick to read and you don't have to wait for the end. Same goes for writing, because you obviously don't have to update it once it's post.

But in another way, oneshots get less feedback than multichapters, which makes me wonder why... Is it because most of the reviews consist of "Update soon!" and you can't leave that with a oneshot?

Tell me about it! Jun 30th 2007, 10:40pm . Edited Aug 24th 2007, 4:27pm #1

awintea I prefer reading stories with chapters, because then I have to wait and see what will happen in the next chapter. It's rather suspenseful, in my opinion.

But then I am a lazy writer and decide to write oneshots, which require less effort for me to write. ^__^ Jul 01st 2007, 6:54pm #2

Dudly Multi-chapters will kill me someday... *Cries her soul*

I have so much trouble updating!! I just open my files, correct one or two things, add several sentences then do something else. Write something more interesting. Start another story.

I've got too much scenarios... Can't finish them though.

All that to say... Dudly hates multi-chapters. Jul 02nd 2007, 7:14pm #3

Chibisuke LOL I do that too!! Well, except for the start another story part... xD I just go off finding a fic to read or watch something on YouTube (I feel like I'm advertising YT or something, I think I mentioned it like 2 times already on this forum X_x)

Going back on topic now: I like both xD But I can't seem to write oneshots without making them super confusing xP Jul 02nd 2007, 7:52pm #4

Dudly Yeah... well I think the only trick with oneshot is to end them with... a good ending. You know, if the last sentence is lame, then it's no good. But it has its disavantages too -_- You can't really elaborate on an idea. You have to give the most of it, without too much lenght.

But I still love it! Jul 02nd 2007, 8:02pm #5

Chibisuke Hmm... Still horrible at writing oneshots xP Jul 02nd 2007, 8:10pm #6
awintea xD But chapter stories with a great ending feel so complete and interesting.

Whereas sometimes oneshots that aren't ended well, even if they have a great idea, don't seem right. Jul 03rd 2007, 5:07am #7

Chibisuke Yep, yep! Take the new oneshot Dudly-san posted recently on Royal Oneshots for example, the ending killed me! How could she end it right there T.T Jul 03rd 2007, 9:20am #8
awintea Yeah...There are some oneshots that just cry 'SEQUEL! SEQUEL!'

Dudly-san, are you listening? Jul 03rd 2007, 10:26am #9

Dudly Ah... I just came by.

I just finished reading the reviews that were submitted to this special last oneshot... Most of them said "It's so sad" and some of them asked for, either a sequel or an happy ending.

I think I can do a sequel but... was the ending so bad? Jul 03rd 2007, 2:53pm #10

Chibisuke The ending wasn't bad at all. I think people just want to read more (like me! XD) Jul 03rd 2007, 2:57pm #11
Dudly Do not fear.. there will be a sequel (but I don't know if it will satisfy you or 1xmocha) and then the #20 will be Royal Fluff. Because, as someone pointed out in her review, it's rated Romance/Humor. I guess someday... I'll stick with the rating.

Hey! Royal Oneshots is FINALLY listed in Elistist Royale! *Does a little dance* Jul 03rd 2007, 3:08pm #12

Chibisuke *cheers* Yosh! Can't wait! ^-

Congrats on getting your fic listed in Elistist Royale! =D Jul 03rd 2007, 3:14pm #13

Dudly Yeah... I mean, it is fun to have it listed under C2 community claiming "Best of Prince of Tennis" or whatever... but Elistist Royale is special to me *heart* Just like Roland Garros is special to Justine Hennin. But anyway... I mean, there's a lot of AtoRyo oneshots listed there. Kind of wondering why they waited until I wrote 18 to add it.

Y'know, Chibi Vic, you should update Off Course too! ^^ Jul 03rd 2007, 3:23pm #14

Chibisuke Yep, yep^^ Hmm... I wonder too... one of the biggest mysteries on earth xD JK!

*dies* I'm working on it xD But one thing disgusts me, I'm puting WAY too many OCs in Off Course... -.- PoT needs more evil characters for me to use xD Jul 03rd 2007, 3:29pm #15

Dudly Nah, PoT is only about tennis. There is like... 5% drama, and the rest is tennis. But like I read somewhere "OCs are okay as long as they are here to support the story, and not otherwise"

Hey, really, we should scatter the discussion a bit everywhere. Gosh, when are you going to answer on some other forums?

----------------------Draws a line to flood-----------------------------

(If an answer is to be written, make sure it involves Oneshots and Multi-chapter fics... THE FLOOD AS TO GO ON OTHER TOPICS!) Jul 03rd 2007, 3:42pm #16

Sweet Obsidian Rain o0

I tend to like multi-chapter stories because... they just go on longer. (Is that a goof enough reason? I can't think of a really good one. I just like them better.)

I, however, prefer writing one-shots because I'm one of the laziest people on earth. Jul 13th 2007, 1:31pm #17

awintea Yay for laziness! That's why I write oneshots too XD Jul 13th 2007, 2:07pm #18
Sweet Obsidian Rain They should make a holiday for laziness. xD Jul 13th 2007, 2:16pm #19
Dudly They should make a holiday for laziness. xD

I guess they were too lazy to make it. Damn, laziness is a way of living, not a thing to do on special occasions xD

Maybe it does exist. Too lazy to do a research though . ^^ Jul 13th 2007, 5:02pm #20

Sweet Obsidian Rain xD

That's true.

Well they should make one to honor ir at least.

But I guess the world was just too lazy.

xD Jul 20th 2007, 12:56pm #21

gold.paperclips I prefer writing one-shots and not multi-chapters because plot-making drives me nuts. xD

Everytime I write narratives my teacher will be going "Where's the plot? The climax? the conclusion?" o.O Jul 28th 2007, 6:07am . Edited Jul 28th 2007, 6:43am #22

awintea I completely understand, Lizzie-chan. XD Jul 28th 2007, 6:26am #23
meg gara I think it's easier writing one-shots. I write them when I think of this quick scene and build a story around it.

For multi-chapter stories, it's much harder. I don't want to write one unless I have the whole story plotted out. I need to know the ending first because I don't want to end up with an author's note saying, "I don't know where this is going, etc. Any ideas?" that will disappoint the readers. Jul 29th 2007, 11:28pm #24

Sweet Obsidian Rain I really prefer one-shots now.

Multi-chapter stories are just so much work. Aug 01st 2007, 12:51am #25

awintea Hey, don't say that! You still have your multi-chapter story to be writing. xD Aug 01st 2007, 4:39am #26
gold.paperclips They are. -sigh-

Mine just got shot down. -sigh- I _really_ have to _work_ on it.

Oneshots are kinda crazy for me now since I have ideas popping into my head and I can't put them into words. XD Aug 01st 2007, 6:44am #27

Dudly Nya, oneshots are the best things. Multi-chapters... are so long.

Maybe it's because I'm full of empty promises and of "I'll do it... some other day?"

This is not a good attitude when you start a multi-chapter story *shakes head* Aug 01st 2007, 1:20pm #28

awintea It's probably not the best attitude. XD

I like to start chapter stories, though. xD I have lots of prologues for stories that I will probably never finish xD Aug 01st 2007, 1:54pm #29

Dudly And I, I ask? How many stories have I started that needs to be updated and finish? ^^' I'm the worst author around for sure XD Aug 01st 2007, 5:30pm #30
awintea But I trust you will return to those...eventually? ^___^" It's okay, Dudly-san, you're still a wonderful wonderful author xD Aug 01st 2007, 5:59pm #31
Dudly Says you.

Anyway, I'm *done* with the new Royal Oneshot. Though it's entirely not good. But Snape doesn't care. He says he won't even lay an eye on "Boys love"

And I have no idea for the "Coming up next"... *Sighs* Aug 01st 2007, 6:11pm #32

awintea And everyone else who reads your stories, especially Royal Oneshots... and the new one isn't showing up for me... ;____; Everything on my computer seems to be malfuctioning!

Snape gets paired up with ... a lot of different people though, both girls and guys. xD Aug 01st 2007, 6:28pm #33

Dudly Didn't post it yet. Thought I could make some last minutes changes...

I'm always very critic with my work. Very very critic- more than I am with anything else (except stories against the guidelines and stupid Sues)

Though I might post it now... *Sighs* I'll go brush my teeth and see if I can come up with a "In the next episode..." Aug 01st 2007, 6:37pm #34

awintea It doesn't matter! You can be like 'The next episode is a surprise!' Aug 01st 2007, 6:41pm #35
Dudly I... guess I can do that. Want to write it related to HP though...

Ahh, now I don't have any more excuse. I'll have to send it at it is -_-' Don't sue me when you'll read it though. Aug 01st 2007, 6:51pm #36

awintea I promise I won't. xD Post it! Aug 01st 2007, 6:59pm #37
Dudly Done- and not good enough to my liking. *Groans* I want to make the HP stories... but maybe I should do a bunch of "After-war" oneshots? Now, I wouldn't be as bugged for an update... (Though I am still asked for an update in RO... ^^' RO sounds... ro... Not good)

Lalala. I feel lighter, now that I've update one fic. Five more to go! (Though maybe I'll never update the Sailor Moon and Sisterhood Pants one XD I'm so bad... ) Aug 01st 2007, 7:17pm #38

awintea If you do that, I will completely idolize you. Write some write some!

Hmmm. RO ^____^

It's okay if that's not updated! .... Because I'm rather more inclined to read RO XD And ... it was great xP Aug 01st 2007, 7:23pm #39

Dudly RO....

Makes me laughing, really. But all I can write about HP is ALREADY cliché :| Aug 01st 2007, 7:35pm #40

awintea Sometimes cliche is fine, though. It counts on how it's used. Aug 01st 2007, 7:52pm #41
Sweet Obsidian Rain Awin-chan:

I think I might start writing today...

xD Wish me luck.

Dudly-san:

Lol. I say that to myself all the time.

Awahhhh. It's so cute, the new one-shot.

Eliz-san:

I agree.

I have so many ideas, but I don't know how to write them out.

It's just like a blob in my head.

O_O Aug 02nd 2007, 1:13pm #42

awintea I wish you the best of luck, and I can't wait to read it. ^_^ Aug 02nd 2007, 4:01pm #43
Sweet Obsidian Rain I like... only completed one-third of the chapter so far.

xD My head was going to circles. Aug 03rd 2007, 1:17pm #44

awintea I know you can do it XD Good luck! Aug 03rd 2007, 3:40pm #45
Sweet Obsidian Rain -bows head-

I ended up messing with graphics today.

-Made a wallpaper

-Made an icon

-Edited my whole Xanga page

-Watched half of Hana-Kimi episode 5, Jap. Version

-Did some other random stuff

I didn't get to work on the story at all. xDD Aug 03rd 2007, 9:49pm #46

Dudly Can't do that stuff -_-' Can you make me a Royal ICON (edited...)? Puh-liz?

(Not that I'm tired yet of my icon... Chibiko changes hers WAY too often XD I always have to read the name- which I don't do normally, since I know what icon stands for who) Aug 04th 2007, 2:56pm . Edited Aug 04th 2007, 2:58pm #47

Sweet Obsidian Rain Sure. Lol.

Do you have a specific theme color you want it to be?

What do you want it to say? Aug 04th 2007, 3:08pm #48

Dudly Er... Purple? And then... "Spread the Royal Gayness"?? If you could find a cool picture of those two... XD

Maybe "Spread the Royal Love" would be more like it... Is 'Gayness' a word? Aug 04th 2007, 3:50pm #49

Sweet Obsidian Rain Okay. I'll try to look for something.

I can't promise you that it'll be like a picture of them together.

The picture could end up like mine.

I'll just put "Spread the Royal Love"

I think it is. xD Aug 04th 2007, 3:56pm #50
