awintea I thought line breaks were when you typed --- and pressed enter. There's some short cut or something XD Writer's block is a pain, and Link and Luigi are quite brilliant for their long epic writings =\ Feb 13th 2008, 4:30am #101 |
The Night Owl is Addicted I tried that. But i think it disappeared when i uploaded it to ffdotnet... not really sure, but after that time i never tried it again.WE should all bow down to authors such as Link and Luigi for lasting that long and completing it AND making a sequel. Feb 13th 2008, 4:56am #102 |
Sweet Obsidian Rain xD I can make a line break. xD Just upload a blank document on FF and insert the line thingy there. Then copy that and paste it into Word. I do that and then write my chapter out. Then when you are done, you can just copy and paste your chapter into the blank FF document. xDI admit those two are amazing for lasting so long, but I don't really like their writing style (at times). xD -shot- Feb 13th 2008, 5:03am #103 |
crassreine I seem to do things very differently. I upload a document and add the line breaks in the edit section. Feb 13th 2008, 6:17am #104 |
awintea Yeah, I used to really really like Link and Luigi's oneshots and all, 'cause they were funny, and their multi-chapters are nice and long, but I don't really -like- like them too much xD Feb 13th 2008, 1:51pm #105 |
ThrillPair I haven't read their fics in a while.I believe i was somewhere in the middle of their story 'Four or Five' then i started losing interest and didn't pick it back up o_O maybe I'll go back and read it when i have time again. Feb 14th 2008, 1:36pm #106 |
reckless-rage I haven't read ny of Link and Luigi's stories, because their multichaptered stories scare me off fast. I might have read one or two of their oneshots, but nothing really sticks to mind. XD They seem quite popular. Feb 14th 2008, 2:05pm #107 |
ThrillPair I dunno... but their fics don't really stick to me either. It has it's funny moments but most of the time I feel like i'm skimming it only. Feb 14th 2008, 2:17pm #108 |
reckless-rage Same. Still, they seem like a central name in PoT fics. Like Bleach has bakabokken and windlily and Saiyuki has nimblnymph - the kind of names you associate with a kind of anime, you know? So what names pop up when you think "PoT fics"? Answer in the flooding thread - I'm going off topic here. Almost. Feb 14th 2008, 2:20pm #109 |
 disfigured-dream I prefer WRITING multi-chapters, but I like READING one-shots.But when I write multi-chapters, I tend to be worried that I'm too slow or stuff like that. Don't like to keep ppl waiting, y'know. =D Feb 22nd 2008, 5:17am #110 |
Eternal.Angel I like writing all sorts, but I'm just worried that I'll never finish at all, and then all my readers will abandon me. XDI like reading one-shots - short and sweet, and doesn't waste my time. But it's best for it to be well written, though. XD Feb 22nd 2008, 8:50am #111 |
disfigured-dream Haha, well at least you GET readers. I have barely 30 hits on each story...One-shots are easier to follow. And its sometimes like a glimpse into the past or something. Like a journal entry of something that happened. Then once its over, it's over. No rushing for sequels or anything. Feb 22nd 2008, 7:14pm #112 |
The Night Owl is Addicted But sometimes, a lot of weird readers put your oneshots on alert (as we all seemed to have experienced) and sometimes, you do put sequels for oneshots... it all depends on the story and the author's mood, I guess. Well, I guess the rushing for updating is gone when you make oneshots, so that's a plus. And you don't have to worry about an idea or plot straying.Right now, I'm actually enjoying writing oneshots. But reading Multi-chaptered fics are always welcome for me... It's not the same for writing them, though. Maybe you only get 30 hits since it's still early... Sooner or later that count will grow. Coz even I would read something as old as something written four years ago, and if it's especially lovely, I'll even drop a review! ^_^ Mar 11th 2008, 5:24am #113 |
 disfigured-dream I think its cos Oshi-Ato isn't a widespread pairing. When I wrote Thrill, it got 181 hits. I'm jealous. What happened to Oshi-Ato love? Mar 11th 2008, 5:36am #114 |
The Night Owl is Addicted Vio, that's flooding. XDMulti-chapters tend to be more in depth and explicit (?) than one-shots... obviously because the author has more space to develop everything... Mar 11th 2008, 6:33am #115 |
Takethestairs Hmmm... It depends on what I feel like at that specific moment in time.If I've got all the time in the world and I really want to read something that would take time, I can look forward too, and has has a ongoing plot then I prefer a multi-chapter fic. (i.e. One Step by: Kiasidira Ixari) But if I just want something that would take a couple of minutes to satisfy my fanfiction craving (its sounds like an addiction, O wait, it kinda is) then I prefer a nice one-shot. :) Mar 14th 2008, 1:46pm #116 |
The Night Owl is Addicted Yeah, it also depends on my mood... When I feel like reading something to just ease my ming off stuff for a while, I read drabbles and oneshots. Multi-chapters are great for stories that have a really good plot and should definitely be continued. Both are fun to read. XD ~Again, I might just be repeating myself with my previous posts here... but... yeah. XD Apr 03rd 2008, 10:31am #117 |
Nasty Evil Dead Dog I like multi-chapter stories- I mean, they're simply awesome XD But, due to my laziness I only write one-shots -_-' May 23rd 2008, 5:31am #118 |
ButterflyDiva3 I love reading multi-chapter stories. When you finish a chapter, it's so suspenseful while you wait for the writer to update! Though as a writer, I really hate multi-chapter stories. Mine keep going on and on and on...and on...you get the idea. I have too much trouble finishing multi-chapter stories. But with one-shots, it's a few paragraphs and it's done! Though I can never seem to write one-shots. I've got too many ideas floating around in my head. Then I end up trying to use them all. Nov 05th 2008, 11:59am #119 |
 iPurpleBerri I FAIL AT MAKING MULTI-CHAPTER STORIES. Either I can't think of a good enough plot, or I DON'T UPDATE FOR MONTHS. =.= Nov 06th 2008, 11:39pm #120 |
Orion.R.Black I usually write one-shots. Because my fics are just random little ideas I want to get out without worrying about depth and such. And because I can't keep to one idea for too long. It gets boring. Or I have the beginning planned out, and the ending, and I'm too lazy/uninspired to ever get to the middle -thinks- I've only got one multi-chaptered fic besides the song fic, and that one I gave up after 4 chapters and just stuck in the ending I had in mind to be done with it -fails- Ah, but I'm rambling now. I write one-shots because they're less complicated? xD -laugh- As for reading fics, I like one-shots when I'm just browsing for some laughs or to pass the time. But I love a good multi-chaptered fic that'll keep me reading for hours whenever I can get it. You know the type, the ones where people like me end up cluttering the reviews with 'Update soon!! =D' and stuff like that -nods- Nov 07th 2008, 9:02pm #121 |
Bane-Dane I really prefer reading one-shots over mult-chaptered fics since I already know that the story is finished and I won't have to wait a year for the next chapter. on the other hand, if I see that a writer is updating freqently and, from the summary, the story seems interesting, I'll try it out. Nov 11th 2008, 5:08pm #122 |
Peridot Tears I get plenty of inspiration for multi-chaptered fics. And it led to more than half my stories being put on hiatus because of the little time I have for them and the Writer's Block. Damn Dx My poor readers... One-shots are quicker for me, and I just love to publish them and wake up the next day to read the reviews. Though sometimes people just want sequals, prequels, and extra chapters D: Dec 15th 2008, 5:33pm #123 |
Bane-Dane I know what you mean. For one of my stories, Socks, every reviewer seemed to want a sequel. That's why I like writing one-shots. Once you're written it it's over. No more. No sequel. Dec 27th 2008, 1:28pm #124 |
Eternal.Angel But for one-shots, when you write it, you may want to expand on that idea. I like multi-chapter stories to see how far the plot is going to be extended or written on, but it's a hassle to update it. I have so many multi-chapter stories and one-shots, I really don't know what to say about it. XD Dec 27th 2008, 2:03pm #125 |
elusivemelody I prefer to read multi-chaptered fics, expecially if they are nearly completed. But one-shots sometimes proves themselves to be just as good. :D As for writing, I don't mind either. But I have never published any of my multi-chapter fics and usually delete them after a while due to lack of inspiration. I recently started to dislike writing multi-chaptered fics as I can never seem to make each chapter long enough to my satisfaction but I'm determined to give it one more go. xDD Sep 15th 2009, 2:19am #126 |
Yellow Gummybear I usually read oneshots, because they're already finished, and I don't need to wait for teh next chapters anymore. But I'm surprised that most of my Favorites are in-progress multi-chaptered fics. I don't really mind multi-chaptered. As long as it's finished. Jul 12th 2010, 8:07am . Sweet Obsidian Rain Yellow Gummybear, I don't think I have seen you around before. This is late, but as a mod, I'd like to ask you to please read the rules thread and then introduce yourself to the forum? A lot of us have gotten busy, but I'm sure the members that still visit us would be glad to welcome you properly. Thanks! Jul 19th 2010, 8:23pm #128 |
tsukinoyume11 Oneshots are great but multi-chapters are my absolute fav. May 08th, 8:29pm #129 |
