Well, this was supposed to be what The Best of the Best did, but since that got off topic... the Archive has been born! This archive is only for stories that you think deserve to be listed among the best in Maximum Ride. NOTE: This is not a place where you can bitch at other people or link horrifically bad stories. This forum is not a flaming ground. Go elsewhere if that's what you want, because there are plenty of people here who don't want to get caught in a full-out flame war on this forum.

This topic is also not a place for you to post a story of yours and beg for reviews. We have a reviews thread for that, and though it gets off topic a lot, if you ask there people will probably answer your plea.

Now, you need to post a few things when you put a story up here so we know what it's about, what the rating is, and title, author, etc. Remember, there are young folks who frequent this forum, so you MUST put a warning in bold when you are linking to an M-rated story.

I'll start off with one of my personal favorites.

Title and Author: The Freed by billy_morph

Rating: T

The Freed is a wonderful OC flock story based around a group of birdkids who were set free by Max and the flock at the end of MR1. Its action scenes are as well, if not more, detailed than Patterson's, and the plot moves just as fast. Bonus: the characters come to life in a way that mirrors the flock's own. Great story, and it's both completed and lengthy. Includes: cross-country flight from Erasers, kidnapping of a flock member, tons of fights, great explanations for the powers displayed (which are much better than JP's, because this guy knows physics and uses it to back up the powers he invents), and terrific ending. Well worth the time you'll put into reading it, though the fanatical grammatical side of you will have to get used to occasional misspellings, odd commas, and the British way of spelling things if you're not a resident of Jolly Old England. :)

Warnings: When I say the fights are great, I mean it. There are character injuries and occasional deaths, but hey, we've all read Maximum Ride, haven't we? If you could handle that, you can handle this.

I'm putting these two together as they run parallel.

Title: Wolf: One of Them. And. The Agents

Authors: Dreamer-MRAF. And. Agent Anderson

Rating: K+( I believe it should be T) and T

These stories are written by two different authors and yet they still run alongside each other surprisingly well. That in itself is a feat. "Wolf: one of them" is partly an alt flock and partly a seventh flier. I think the OC's are well developed and well written. The story is a pretty unique one, although was slightly confusing at times. "The Agents" focuses on the villain in the former fic and for the most part runs alongside it. It is a very interesting take as you rarely see through the eyes of the "bad guy". Although he is very clearly heavily influenced from characters from the matrix, including names and even quotes. It is a very detailed fic perhaps even rivaling its counterpart.

Warning: Both contain some violence and language but nothing that should be too shocking ifyou have enjoyed the MR books

I have a bunch.

"Project Delilah" is still running. Pretty good, and the author actually does research.

"The Riddlyr" is complete. By no means would it win an award, but when it was running, it was a very satisfying guilty pleasure. It's still well worth a read.

"Fifteen Years Gone" is still running. Good future!AU, well thought-out.

"Spike" is a oneshot, as is "A Silent Voice". They're both future!AU, focussing around OCs. Most excellent.

As far as summaries go, each in brief:

An OC is sent by the School to infiltrate the Flock. They fly around California.

An OC is on the run from Itex, and joins up with the Flock to defeat them once and for all.

As an accident, Max falls fifteen years into the future.

Two OCs experience the aftermath of the By-Half Plan.

All of these fics are good reads, and I personally recommend them.

I recomend mai's new fic....I forgot the name :S and the link has buggered off.

Its on the first page, parody. Good stuff

The love series by Carino2. It's good, and it's disturbing. Three stories so far, all pretty short but well thought out and the third one just made my jaw drop.

I like that series.

I personally (always) suggest Conundrum by Phoenix Fanatic. Really good canon Fax.

Read anything by Armaggedon Child. Even though she stopped writing her fics are sooooooooooo awesome.

Did anyone ever post the second MR awards(the proper ones though)? I thought the first one was pretty good
