KenKao-ultra-fanI think everyone should read "Oni" written by Lanse. It's absolutely breath taking! Here is the summary too. "Legends speak of a fearsome creature living on the forbidden mountain. Escaping to its domain, one woman will discover just how real a legend can be. COMPLETE" It's original and very good written, there's much thought behind each word and sentence. I think everyone should give this story a shot, it's absolutely amasing!! I cut out some moments I liked from it. --------------------------------------------------------- “What is it?” Shun glanced around nervously. “I’m not exactly sure…” Kaoru felt it too as the wind began to pick up and stir the powdery snow into a mist. The air seemed to crackle with tension and fierce power, the kind she had felt only once before when she held a sword she had found hidden in the cabin. When she dropped the sword, the feeling vanished and she assumed it was all of her imagining. The feeling wasn’t going away now. It was getting stronger and she wasn’t the only one feeling it. Fujo’s face paled and he seemed to have forgotten about the woman he leaned on until she started to laugh softly in feverish delirium. “Stop it!” he snapped and he cuffed her across the face. This only made her laughter hysterical and he shook her harshly until she suddenly stopped and stared up at him with dark, colorless eyes. “Oni,” she whispered and then smiled. “Fujo,” Shun spoke urgently. “We’ve got company.” Fujo leaped to his feet and turned in the direction his friend faced. Despite the bright moonlight, only a shadow stood before them where no shadow should have been able to exist. It looked the outline of a man, but no man of great height or impression. As it started walking closer, they realized it made no sound and appeared to glide on top of the snow rather than sinking in. “Who are you?” Shun demanded and the wind seemed to stir with greater power in reply. Both men shivered for a moment. “Forget this,” Fujo growled under his breath and he took a step forward towards the shadow, pulling his sword free with a threatening rasp. “I don’t care who you are or what you want, but we found her first, you got that?” The shadow hesitated as if contemplating his words. Suddenly, flames flashed where human eyes should have been and the wind stilled instantly to a deadly calm. “Oni,” Shun whispered just moments before silver light flashed forth from the shadow. Kaoru heard their screams, screams never meant to come from the voice of a man, and it disturbed her from her delirium. Her ears resounded with the clash of metal, but it sounded unreal and distant. Almost as suddenly as it had started, it ended and the peaceful silence of the forest was all that surrounded her. ------------------------------------------------------------- “You’ll be all right, Miss,” he assured her and the gaze she cast upon him nearly brought him to his knees. Has no one cared for you before? “My name is Kaoru,” she said softly as she met his kindly stare. Kenshin smiled warmly at her, as he had not done for another human in years. “You will be just fine, Miss Kaoru, that you will.” “I believe you,” she admitted and then turned her attention back to her broth. I believe you because you are my Oni. --------------------------------------------------------------------- They stopped briefly around midday to rest… and two more men were found missing. “What do you mean no one saw anything?” Gohei demanded. Everyone shrugged. “Two men don’t just disappear without a sound,” he shouted. “Maybe Oni took them,” Kaoru said softly. An uneasy stillness enveloped the men and all eyes turned on her. “What did you say?” Gohei growled. Kaoru met his gaze but said nothing, knowing he had heard her well enough. “They’re just stories made up to scare kids, Gohei,” Uchi said. A murmur went through the group and Kaoru knew not everyone agreed with the man. Anyone who had lived within twenty miles of the mountain knew the stories. Gohei’s eyes narrowed in irritation. “Let’s keep moving. Keep close and keep your eyes open. You,” he grabbed Kaoru’s arm, “walk with me.” Kaoru stumbled to keep up with his rapid pace, never missing the uneasy glances he shot into the deceptively peaceful forest surrounding them. As the hours passed without event, the men began to calm and their pace eased. The assumption that the others had simply gotten separated and lost became the accepted explanation until a disturbing discovery near evening. The air about them seemed to still as they all stared at the body hanging limply from the tree. “That’s Shin,” Uchi spoke what they were all thinking. “How could he have gotten this far ahead of us?” “I don’t see any blood,” Gohei spoke thoughtfully. “Someone cut him down, see if he’s still alive.” Two men climbed up and cut the man free, catching his body before it could thump to the ground. “He’s still alive,” one of them said and Gohei shoved Kaoru into someone’s grasp as he stalked over. Cold water and a few slaps on the face revived the man who leaped up in wild panic. It took four to pin him down. “Shin, snap out of it!” Gohei slapped him roughly. “Tell us what happened.” “It’s coming,” the man gasped. “It’s going to kill us all!” “What’s coming?” Uchi demanded. “Eyes like the fires of hell,” he whimpered. “Claws like steel. It’s not human!” “Oni,” someone murmured. “Then why leave him alive?” Gohei growled. “It hunts us all,” Shin whimpered before slipping into unconsciousness again. “Look at this, Gohei,” Uchi said as he pulled at Shin’s torn gi. “The cuts seem deep, but there’s no blood.” “Nasty blow,” Gohei echoed as he stared at the deep gashes across Shin’s chest. “You have to admit, it’s unsettling,” Uchi murmured. “We better keep moving,” Gohei growled. Somebody shouldered the injured man and the group shuffled off, swords drawn and edgy. Why? Why is he here? It was obvious he was hunting them. Not just hunting, no he was stalking them methodically and with intent. Was it possible the shadow she had seen the night before had been the savage Oni? It had to be for that was the night Shin disappeared. She shivered as she remembered how she had fallen directly into his path, yet he had done nothing but stand there and stare at her. Would she feel his touch of death with the rest of them? Would her death be all the more painful because she had trespassed on his mountain before? Why did he spare Shin? Why leave him for them to find him and alive as well? “He wanted you to know,” she said without thinking and Gohei glanced over at her. “What?” he demanded gruffly. “She’s talking about Shin,” Uchi spoke up and she glanced over at him. “Yeah I figured it out too, girl. He wants us to know he’s hunting us.” “Just keep quiet,” Gohei ordered. They didn’t stop when darkness fell. Gohei gripped Kaoru tightly and she could feel his unease. -------------------------------------------------------------- “It only matters what he is now,” she answered him softly. “And what is he?” Kaoru hesitated for a moment and then lifted her chin, her bright eyes meeting his boldly. “He is the man that I love.” Eiji’s stare turned wistful. “Do you suppose, Miss Kaoru, that there is another woman as forgiving as you out there?” Kaoru hazard a faint smile. “I always believed that if you seek forgiveness, it will find you.” He reflected her smile for a moment before his eyes shifted to gaze over her shoulder. “Do not worry, Battousai,” he said though his eyes were wary. “I do not intend to harm her.” Kaoru’s eyes widened and she restrained herself from spinning around to see the man that had approached so silently behind her. A fierce aura was making itself felt and Eiji was not unaffected. Finally his eyes shifted back to her. “I hope you will forgive me one day, Miss Kaoru.” He bowed deeply to her and then turned away from the river. As she watched his back disappear from view, she could not help but hope that he would find the redemption and forgiveness he longed for. He very well might become to another woman as Kenshin had become to her. Kenshin. Her heart ached in memory. “I wanted to thank you for saving my life,” she said softly to the presence she could feel behind her. “Did you mean what you said?” She stiffened as the familiar voice washed over her. Hesitantly, she turned around to meet his intense violet stare. “Y-yes.” He stared at her for a moment, emotion flickering through his dark gaze as she had seldom seen before. With two steps he closed the distance between them and reached up to wipe at the tears that were beginning to trickle from her eyes. “You are alive,” she whispered as she gazed up at him through her blurring vision. A soft smile curled his lips. “I told you I would come for you, in one form or another.” There was no hesitation on his part, no barriers, no fears, nothing to keep him from giving her all of him and she opened her heart fully to embrace everything that he was as he brought his lips to hers. He held nothing back, drinking of her essence fiercely like a dying man and she clung helplessly to him. Everything she kept sheltered deep inside shattered and bared itself to his touch, his claim. When he broke from her, both were breathing heavily and his eyes were intense with golden fire. Desire, rage, and love were a perfect swirl of molten emotion and openly exposed for her to see. Kaoru had no desire to ever free herself from his tight embrace, thrilling in the comfort of his warmth and fearing none of his fierce passion. He possessed her completely and she would never deny the hold he had on her heart and soul. She loved him for everything that he was; Battousai, Rurouni, and… “You were always watching over me,” she whispered and he smirked impishly. “You were in my domain.” “And now?” He leaned his forehead against hers, his glowing eyes intent on her petal pink lips. “And now you will stay there.” He moved to kiss her and she drew back, a mischievous gleam in her eyes. “Only if you stay with me,” she said. The brilliant sapphire eyes that sparkled at him did not belong to a broken woman. They were the eyes of a woman whole and in love and they were beautiful to behold. “Always,” he swore as he leaned in and successfully captured her lips again. The fire that had remained dormant within her sparked and flamed and she wrapped her arms around his neck to keep him close to share in the warmth he had awakened from her failing heart. She would be his salvation even as he had been hers. Oni of the forbidden mountain was a creature born of fire. He was not a monster. He was simply a man. And she loved him. Sorry it was so long^^' but I couldn't help it...hehe... | #2 Dec 19th 2005, 12:43pm

unuzedI have to agree with you KenKao-ultra-fan.Oni is an exellent story in my opinion. And I think everyone figured out who 'Oni' is too.XD And it's funny to think that Kenshin thought Kaoru was a boy in the beginning *giggles* but then discovers it's a girl and falls in love with her. *sigh* -silver0150 | #3 Dec 19th 2005, 12:49pm

Ame Ulani thought love for sale by candy sparkle was sweet. kenshin seemed very laid back and the description of him--wow! she made him seem a lot more handsome than in the series or manga. the k&k relationship is kinda...on hold b/c kenshin is supposed to be married to tomoe already, but she's no longer living with him for reasons unknown. my guess is that she's dead, but that's hasn't been confirmed to my knowledge. kaoru is supposed to be a stuck up rich brat, w/o any consideration for other people....sorta. another sweet story is i watch you from a distance by nadachi-chan. I Love That Story! kaoru was a geek in high school and kenshin was "mr. cool" and they end up in an arranged marriage together. the only problem is that kenshin is head over heels for tomoe. this one made me feel real bad for kaoru b/c she loves kenshin very much. she goes off to paris and becomes a model and dated enishi for a while. then, misao calls her up saying she wants kaoru to be maid of honor at her wedding to aoshi and now kaoru must face kenshin once again (w/o throwing drinks in his face)and decide wheater she's really over him, or she's simply foolin herself. |
|
unuzedyeah, love for sale is very good ^^. I read it not long ago too, and I found it facinating.I remember almost falling out off my chair when Kenshin told Kaoru he was married, but then later on we got to know she was dead. i watch you from a distance is also a great story, it was one of the first one's i read on ff.net. So i won't forget it that easily. ^^ -silver0150 |

Shenyu"The Spy and The Hitokiri" by Anna Neko AKA Adamant Eve is an amazingly written story. The story takes place during the anime series, Kaoru turns out to be an elite spy from the revolution. But now, she is finding that her old comrades are being killed one by one. The story is a great romantic fanfic and will grab you the moment you begin reading it! Might I also suggest "The Mind of a Women" and its sequel "The Heart of the Women" by the same author! | #6 Dec 20th 2005, 11:25am

Dreycy-chanYeah, Love for sale and Oni are really good, but my favourite one is The Art of Misconception by Maids of Lorraine. I wish they would update more recently, though. And When the World Revolves Around You by Chikifriend is also very very good!| #7 Dec 20th 2005, 12:27pm

unuzed"The Spy and The Hitokiri" I read not long ago, just a few days in fact. I thought it was very good and a preasure to read."The Mind of a Women" and its sequel "The Heart of the Women" I haven't read yet, but I guess I should start looking for them now, don't wanna miss out on anything good. XD "The Art of Misconception" and "When the World Revolves Around You" I have read, and I can't say I have anything negative to say about either of them. XD PS. In my documents, I keep a file that I call 'Read or Die'. It's where I have the names and summaries of cool stories I stumbled upon, but didn't have time to read it. So everytime someone says a story is good I add it there. XD I have 19 stories I need to read now. XD -silver0150 |

And to think it was such a wonderfull story too. I'm really sorry about that, but I guess you wont get to read it anytime soon. But if you really, really want to read the story, ask the author what happened to it, I already did, but as they say; the more the merier! -silver0150 | #10 Dec 22nd 2005, 4:20am

anya-domiI must say Anna-neko is one of the best writer in RK fanfic.netAll of her fanfics are awesome. Some one already mentioned the "The heart of women" and "The mind of women". Don't forget to read "Pig-boy Romances Tanuki-chan" The best crossover RK fanfic in my heart and also go to her site "rkdreams" to read her other fanfics. I am a big KxK fan and I strongly recommend the "The Nameless Anomaly" by Dora-chan which is so funny and has a great plot. I also like her "Some simple things to remember", but she hasn't updated so far. I really wish she can post another chapter soon. And "That Which Lingers" by Alea Seikou, wonderful writing skill, nice humourous scenes, and totally base on character's original personalities. I can't ask for a better KxK fanfic, however, she hasn't updated for a long while....= = Why....??? | #24 Jan 20th 2006, 10:56am

Hoshiko ShinomoriWow, looks like I have a ton of reading to do. I haven't read any decent RK fics in a long while...actually, I haven't read ANY fics in a long while. -_-; In any case, a lot of the fics I've read are already on the list like "Winter" and a few others. "Against a Sea of Troubles" is one of the stories that are STILL on my to-read list. Anyways, I'm a bit surprised that no one mentioned "Broken Pieces" by Linay and its sequel "Complete Me." Linay is an absolutely amazing writer and the way she writes the fics and describes everything is just...wow! Just a warning though, "Broken Pieces" is rated M for a reason, so don't read it if you're not into violence or things of that sort. By the way, both stories are AU. A couple of others to check out are "Sky Dweller" by LadyShiin and "A Thief's Dream" by Lil-Sun-Rie. And for any Aoshi x Misao fans, a great fic to read is "Getting on With Your Life" by verito-chan | #25 Feb 11th 2006, 11:33pm

SpaceRosesStarshipdelta has some incredible stories and two of my faveroites are "Things better left unsaid" and its backstory, "Somethings never fade." They are both stories that focus on Hiko and "Soemthings never fade" is Hiko/OC, but don't worry she's not a Mary-Sue at all. I highly recommend them. Also I recommend her short stories, they are great and her humor ones are hilarous! Another author I highly recommend is Charmedsword. The stories she writes are well written and imangentive. | #26 Feb 17th 2006, 9:57am

unuzedI know what you mean when you ask why no one almost never update anya-domi. It's like when you find the best story you have ever read the author all of a sudden just stopd updating completely! T-TAnd I just read "Sky Dweller" a few days ago. And trust me, it was not what I had expected. But it was still on my recomended to read list for you guys.;) Charmedsword? I'll try to read some of that authors story and see what they are like. -silver0150 PS. There are so many good dtories recomended I don't even know where to start anymore! unuzedOkay people, I've got a job for ya'll. There's a story that's been asked for, the title of it is unknown to me, so I'm asking you guys for help. No idea what the real summary looks like. But the story goes something like this; Kenshin lived with dragons all his life, but was captured, and forced to work in a chain gang, caught the eye of Kaoru, a farmers daughter, who lived with her aunt and uncle and helps Kenshin later escape. He later takes her with him. Anyone got any tips, I'll love you forever!! It's supposed to be a real good story and I and someone else would like to read it. So if anyone can help me find this story I'll be so happy!! -silver0150 | #28 Feb 23rd 2006, 7:54am

xZig-zagxSorry to say, but that story has been removed. I think it's offical title was Brother of Dragons by Khrysalis, I'm not sure if she's planning on posting it again or not. I suggest all her stories anyway, she's a really great author. Along with Nekotsuki and BakaBokken, I'm surprised none of their stories have been mentioned yet!! Or maybe they have... and my brain has died. That wouldn't surprise me, seeing how it's midterm week and everything.| #29 Mar 02nd 2006, 4:36pm

Hanyou Hitokiriwow...O.o i've been looking for some really good rk fics to read. this is definently the spot! i noticed no one mentioned Frozen Moonlight by JaneDrew. it's one of my favs! Kaoru in this one has a very quick and funny since of humor! or i thought at least! it's a definate good one to read! though i do have to say my most fav author for rk fics is Kanzen ne Tsuki. she totally rocks!! the authoress Ravyn also has many really good stories as well. like my favs Twisted, Shadowed Grey, and Amber Linings. also The Owner's Guide and Maintenance Manual fics done by various authors on individual characters are rather funny though not actual stories. i had a good laugh with them. | #32 Jul 12th 2006, 8:29pm

pinoykengumi7If anyone is looking for good alternate pairing fics, especially Aoshi x Kaoru ones, Best of Intentions by BelleDayNight is one that I highly recommend. It's complete, she's a great writer and to top it all off, it's Aoshi x Kaoru!!! The Courtship of Lady Tokio by misaki-toyodome is also a good one to read for Saitou x Tokio fans. | #33 Aug 10th 2006, 5:25am

angel-tears-16I've been looking everywhere for this fantastic story I read once. It was a one shot about Kenshin leaving and then returning only to find that in his extended absense Sano had taken his place and he and Kaoaru were living quite happily. It was a very bitter sweet story told from Kenshins point of view. If anyone knows which story this is Please tell me. It's been driving me insane. As far as good reads go I must recomend these authors: Jane Drew Ravyn Linay KC Evens Scented Candles Aryanne LadyRhiyana LadyShiin There are so many more fantastic writers out there but I think these are the elite. | #34 Dec 16th 2006, 7:40pm

unuzedFOR ALL MY KENKAO FANS OUT THERE! I have just checked out some really cool stories that no one have mentioned here. Most of them is evolving around Kenshin and Kaoru, thought some are not. Read them anyway. Converse (MissGoalie75) This fic is my current obsession and I've read it at LEAST five times. Still not bored of it! Fifth Time Named (Alea Seikou) 'Bloody Mary' Urban Legend retold, BxK style. Should sum it up. The Cutting Edge(Chaos Valkyrie) Omg! Lol! Highly recommended! Our RK girls have a nice little chat about the guys...eh.."swords"...if you get what I mean. XD House of Flying Kunai (Chaos Valkyrie) Sequel to The Cutting Edge. That's all I'm saying. Beneath The Sea (Royal blueKitsune) Surprised no one have mentioned it yet. Kind of reminds me of Disney's Ariel. A Forgotten Night (seta-sakura) You know those stories where Kenshin and Kaoru just can't seem to keep their hands off each other? This is one of them. Fancy's Child (Dragonsdaughter) Really cool story, they even got wings and stuff! Phantom of the Dojo (Angle1) If you've seen the movie 'Phantom of the Opera' you'll know what it's about. Benefits (Ceylonna) This was my obsessoin when I first discovered it. The really cool thing was that Ceylonna updated really fact! Castoff (Ravyn) I highly recommend reading this! Though it might leave you a little frustrated since it's a oneshot and ypu want to know what happends next! Caged (Fuu43) And let the magic free! Really cool KK story. I've read almost all of these author's stories, and I believe they deserve to be recogniced. They are the best! And you have probably read one of their fics or at least heard of them before. I like to believe they are pretty known on FF.net and probably other places as well. AhriaHello everyone! I'm looking for a story I read a long time ago. Sadly, I can't remember the title, or the author. ^^;; Um, here's the basic summary- Kenshin is thinking about his past and all the people he's killed while doing the laundry. He starts scrubbing so hard that his hands begin to bleed, reinforcing the whole "my hands will always be stained with blood" mentality. He seems to be going to bit crazy...Any help would be appriciated, thanks. | #39 Mar 23rd 2007, 8:26pm

angel-tears-16I think I've read that one, check my favorites list to see if it's there. I'll check too. Also look for authors with extensive favorites lists (like my own) and just follow a chain of authors from there. You might try a specialized search as well.| #40 Mar 23rd 2007, 8:35pm

RedHairRurouniFanYeah, I loved Mind of the Woman. I read it somewhere not on ff.net, but, that was one of the first fics I read. It made a huge impression on me. It was one of the best stories I read. I also read Heart of the Woman. These are 2 wonderfully written stories.| #42 May 10th 2007, 12:39pm

KaiZXThere's an angsty story I'm looking for. I don't know the title any more, but I do remember parts of the story...It's been a while after the Jinchuu arc, and Kenshin and Kaoru found themselves growing apart. Kenshin feels like they have lost their love, and thinks that Kaoru has a lover. When he tracks her one night, he found out that she's been visiting Enishi... The story also features an original character, a woman who I believe is a Geisha who Kenshin confides in. | #43 Jun 27th 2007, 8:55pm

Lady KohOh my gosh! Silver0150 mentioned Sky Dweller... That was probably my favorite story for a while, then LadyShiin took it down!! Does anybody know if she posted it somewhere else/completed it? If she did, I would love to know! Also, there is one story I read a long time ago, so I'm not sure if it's been taken down or what have you, but it starts of with Aoshi on some sort of a road trip, and Misao hides in his car at a gas station. The only other deatil I can remember is Aoshi goes out with some of his friends to 'Club Cartoon,' if memory serves. If you're looking for some funny stories though, I highly recomend the parodies by misaoshiru. Schoolgirl Kenshin and the Badfic of Doom would have to be my favorite, but she has several, all of which are giggle-worthy. | #44 Aug 17th 2007, 2:27pm

misaoshiruHoly cow, I never imagined any of my fics would be recommended! Thank you, Lady Koh! :D As for my favorites...hmm. I'll have to chime in my agreement with anything by Conspirator, hakubaikou, Calger, or Nekotsuki, "Kyuushutsu" by Terry-McElrath, and a number of others that have already been mentioned... As for others, I will note that I tend to side toward anything gen (nonromantic) or KxT, so if those aren't your thing, tread carefully. -omasuoniwabanshi writes excellent action fics. She also dabbles in humor and the SaitouxTokio pairing, which isn't my pairing of choice, but her SxT fics crack me up. My favorite by her is probably "In the Shadows," though. I'm a sucker for a good Bakumatsu fic. -lolo popoki is another great gen writer. I'm shocked her "Only the Beginning" hasn't been mentioned yet. Excellent angst. Also, "Babysitting Blues" is a fun collaboration between her, SiriusFan13, sueb52, and warg, if you're looking for something more lighthearted. -LadyRhiyana. Yet another gen writer. Her "Jus Bellum" is one of the greatest oneshots I've ever read. Unfortunately, she seems to have a tendency to drop her multichapter projects. (Then again, so do I... *cough*) -Speaking of amazing oneshots, I adore "Heart's Sundown" by Alice Videoland. Yes, it's KxT. It's beautifully written, though, and it's short; I ask that you give it a shot, even if you don't like the pairing. Even if you don't like it, you won't have wasted much time reading it. -"To Finish the Revolution" is a highly underrated (in my opinion) gen fic edging toward KxK/BxK/whatever you want to call it. (Don't read it expecting hawt sexxors or intense romance or whatever, though. It's mostly angst and violence, really.) It's one of the few good "Kenshin breaks his vow" fics I've ever read. -Speaking of "Kenshin breaks his vow" fics, I seem to recall Mir having a good one. In fact, anything by her is good. -"Merciful Dreams" by Peacebunnie. Admittedly not for everyone, but it's one of only three fics with a "Tomoe survives" plot that I actually like. I think it deserves more reviews. Again, though, it's not for everyone...has some good action, though. And a plot, which is rare for that kind of fic. -Anything by Shirou Shinjin. The guy doesn't write all that much romance, but oh my god, I love his sense of humor. "Drinking Buddies" is my favorite fic of his. (Bakumatsu humor, anyone?) -Speaking of Bakumatsu humor, "Rumors" by Jupe-san. Admittedly, I'm biased since she's my best friend in real life. Still, though, that fic is hilarious. (Also, for those of you more geared toward KxK, she writes that as well.) -Akai Kitsune. "Light of the Snow Red Village" is another of the three "Tomoe survives" fics that I like, although she technically still ends up dying, just later on. It has its issues, but I'm still fond of it. "Kendo no Go" and "Diary of a Manslayer" are good KxK fics. Also, I love love love her oneshots "Consummation" and "The Verge of Cessation." Both of those are KxT, although again, I think they're worth a look even if you don't care for Tomoe. -"Smoke" by Author-chan. Great oneshot about Saitou. -Back to SaitouxTokio..."Captain Miserable Finds the Greener Grass" by The Talentless Hack (major misnomer) is one of the funniest AUs I've ever read, although I'm still pretty far behind in it. I love what I've read, though. -amamiya wrote wonderful oneshots, mostly gen. Unfortunately, she's long since quit writing fanfiction. My personal favorite is "Phantoms." -For the KxK fans, "The Bridal Discussion" by RiikiTikiTavi is highly amusing and sexy in a lime-ish sort of way. I'm not much of a KxK fan, personally, but even I loved it. -Another one that's not for everyone - "Mitsutomoe" by wombat. It's KxT, somewhere between a lime and a lemon. It's very tastefully written, though, and I think it's a beautiful fic. -"The Snow Raven" by Krista Perry is THE KxT fic. In fact, it is THE Tomoe fic, period. There's a reason that this one is considered a classic. You hardly ever find a writer who captures her character as well as Krista. There's a reason I have a quote from this fic on my profile and say it's the sort of writing I aspire to - it's truly ingenius. A lot of the Tomoe fics that have come after it are cheap knock-offs. (I should know. One of my first KxT fics was a cheap knock-off of it, although I didn't really intend for it to be one.) If you dislike Tomoe and this fic doesn't raise your opinion of her, nothing will. Give it a try. That's all I can ask of you. ...sorry for the long and disorganized list! I like to think there's something on it for everyone, though... | #47 Jul 26th 2008, 10:25pm

Royal blueKitsuneBeneath The Sea (Royal blueKitsune) Surprised no one have mentioned it yet. Kind of reminds me of Disney's Ariel. I'm surprised that someone has mentioned it! Flattered to the extreme of course but Beneath the Sea is a clumsy, first time story I wrote to learn how to storytell. *pokes you* What did you like about it may I ask? ^^; | #48 Sep 10th 2008, 11:07am

GotDragonBreathSorry to say that I don't know which story that is. But if you like angst try Broken Pieces. I swear it's the best alternative universe/ out of character story you will ever read. It made me CRY at the end. I dont cry when reading things on fanfiction. Its heavily Kenshin/Kaoru romance/violence/captor vs captive. I didn't know that fanfiction could be that good before I read that one. And for everyone who has read it, don't you love the portrayl of Kenshin and Kaoru in that one? | #49 Nov 29th 2008, 10:20pm

RedHairRurouniFanYes! I loved Broken Pieces! It's so sad and very heavily romantic, but it's beautifully written. It portrays Kenshin and Kaoru's relationship, with Kenshin fighting his feelings just like in the books. I swear I didn't even realize it was AU until I read it the 2nd time and realized that Kenshin drove a car. I think that fact completely escaped me the first time. I actually wouldn't say it was OOC. Sure, for Kenshin the rurouni it was, but it seemed more like it was Battousai. You see Kenshin with the rurouni persona at the end. I thought the violence was a nice touch actually. It didn't go overboard, but it was really similar to the style of the manga. You're definitely right about the crying part. Broken Pieces was the first fic that actually made me cry. The last line was just too sadly bittersweet. As for AU, I really liked chickentyrant5's fics a lot. | #50 Nov 30th 2008, 12:19pm
