Topic: Poll Vault: Q&A and Rules Updated 4-25-08

This is different than the suggestion box. If you have a question for myself, PRT, or Ran as to dealing with the forum, this is the place to go. I have some general Q&A questions ready, but feel free to ask if you can't get an answer.

I can't vote!

Have you voted already? If this need be the case, you can only vote once per poll. Are you a member of FF.net? You need to be in order to vote and post here.

Can I create my own polls?

No. Only Admins and Mods are allowed to create Polls, this is to keep spam to a minimum. If you have a poll idea, post it in the suggestion box, and we will be more than happy to hear you out.

Can I create my own threads?

Yes, you can make your own threads. What would a forum be without it? Just remember to add your thread to a category. This will help us, the moderating staff, be more organized.

What can I put in my threads?

Well, Keep it decent... PG-13 at the most. Honestly, I really have no problems with people posting anything. It could be announcements about your fics, an off topic discussion, asking for help for something with writing, ect... I wan't this forum to appeal to the masses, so don't be shy about making a thread. Just please, make it a good one. No "I hate you" threads, flame threads, or anything negative against a certain induvidual. I will consider it spam, and you will be warned and thread will be removed. Same goes for posting, you post something you know is inappropriate, it will be removed. M.I., PRT, & Ran Hakubi reserve that right to do so.

How do you determine the polls being closed?

The creator of the poll usually posts when it will be closed.

Generic poll question: Are the choices supposed to change order on a page refresh? I could almost see it as a way to defeat poll bots, but the bot would need a FFnet login and the options retain their input control name. Rabi Katz's was pollcheck_10 in PRT's most recent poll for three refreshes while he moved up and down in the displayed list. Of course, the server could also just be shoving the options onto the page in whatever order it gets them from the database. It just seems to have been made purposely random.

Ok. I'm done rambling now.

The Poll random thingy... Here is the description from ff.net:

The order of poll choices is not important. When displayed, the site will randomly order the choices to remove any bias by the creator.

So that's pretty much it, we have no control over it either... But I like the idea.
