None of my friends has read the whole series. Like they'd want to. Except for my BFF. She only read the first one but I'm letting her borrow the whole series. I don't really get the time to talk to her because she's either always at dance or talking to another friend. Anyway, I think the series rock. they are my favorite books. CYA!

I loved the first two... best books eva! The last one wasn't as good, frankly, but I still liked it. Who's your favorite character?

aww, dangit, the vote thingie at the top won't let you vote twice! somebody tell it that even jp let people vote multiple times for the continuing the series thing on maximumride.com! not fair. *sniff*

anyway, that was random. My favorite character's Nudge.. maybe because i have a tendency to not shut up.

wow, I just realized I answered my own question. Does that count as being schizo? No, of course not. Okay, my alter ego says no, so I guess not. :)

Yeah, i like nudge too. but i think that max is awesome!! i mean, she takes care of 5 other people besides herself. how does she do it!? i hear that that's also a 4th book out, but i'm not sure. did you hear they're making a movie based on the first book?
#7 Nov 04th 2007, 8:13am
mergirl007
The fourth book is coming out in the spring. Hopefully it's better than the third (hated the blog in it- totally stupid!!).

I hope Nudge matures more in the fourth book- I liked how JP made her move up in Max's estimation from a little kid to one of the big kids in the third book.

Max is a cool character, but I don't like how JP makes her slightly OOC in the third book. However, in the first two books, she was tied with Nudge for my fav character.

Me too!

He's the perfect example of the evil guy who really believes that what he's doing is the right thing. So he's evil, but he believes that he's morally right- which is so cool.

dont kill me, but i dont think jeb is evil (I know, i'm weird). I actually think that he's a good person (dont ask me why) and he's not 'such' a bad parent, ok, ok, maybe he is a bad father, ok, the worst father ever, but its not like he's against the flock. And besides, he wants to save the world (by this i mean, he wants max and the flock to save the world). But i dont know, i'm weird that way, i love all the evil characters for some reason, except Anne, that's the only character i hate.
#12 Nov 06th 2007, 7:57am
mergirl007
I think that he's a good person too, because he really believes in what he was doing (creating a superior species), and he wasn't deliberately trying to kill the flock, but rather helping them learn.

And Anne was such a bad evil person, I totally agree with you about not liking her. (bad= not good at it, btw) So it looks like you and me are the two MR weirdies!

Evil characters are awesome. Inside, we all want to be evil and badass like them, so we think they're really cool. The bad guys in MR make good enemies, you hafta admit. I loved Erasers as bad guys. :)

#13 Nov 06th 2007, 2:22pm
2artemis2
yeah, i love Erasers too, they are soo cool. It's so funny when they suddenly appear and try to kill the flock.

What about the whitecoats, they are evil too, but i didnt like them for the things they did to Angel in the first book. Although, i loved the Director, she was sooooo evil!!!! And it was soo funny when she argued wid Max. I loved when she almost kills her at the end, but then decides not to :( i wanted her to die. maybe in the next book.

#14 Nov 07th 2007, 8:58am
mergirl007
The Erasers were the coolest bad guys ever. I think most people would agree on that.

I thought that the whitecoats in the first book were well-written- JP really showed what it was like to be a lab rat. They all treated Angel like an object, and that's why Max and Co. hates them.

She's not in the summary of the fourth book, so she might not be in it. Oh, wait, yall probably haven't read the summary, have you? Here it is!

Fourteen-year-old Maximum Ride and the other members of "Flock"-Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman and Angel--are just like ordinary kids, only they have wings and can fly. It seems like a dream come true--except that they're still being hunted by new threats at every turn. This time, the U.S. government wants to keep the Flock under observation, offering a safe haven and schooling in return. But after their incredible adventures in books 1-3, Max and Flock have grown to love freedom-after all, haven't grown-ups always found a way to ruin their lives? After escaping the control of the feds, they are surprised to find themselves allied with a group of environmental scientists who just might be trustworthy. Besides, what enemy could find them in one of the remotest locations on earth-Antarctica-on an expedition studying the effects of global warming up close? There is one: The Uber-Director-literally, brains on a stick-an evil being who has developed mechanical soldiers far more frightening than Erasers. Their quest? To retrieve the Flock and sell them in a global auction for billions of dollars. Will the Uber-Director nab them before Max, Fang and the flock succumb to the dangers of the harsh Antarctic wilderness? Kids, parents and educators tuned into the issue of global warming will find this latest episode of the blockbuster Maximum Ride series not only a particularly riveting adventure beyond their wildest dreams, but also a motivating cautionary tale about a real-life peril that may affect their own future.

I think it sounds awesome, except for the educational BS JP wants to feed us about global warming (I'm really mad about that!).

I don't really have an opinion on jeb. I mean it's really hard to tell whose side he's on. but sometimes i like him, other times i think he's craxy out of his mind!

this has nothing to do w/ what you wrote, but what did you think when fang was GROPING that red-headed THING and Max saw him? i was like, FANG WHAT THE HELL!! WHAT THE F**** WAS THAT FOR!! i'm serious, i was yelling at my book. crazy i know. but i'm like that. oh oh and then when Max kissed that one other guy, i forget his name, james? that sounds sort of right. anywho, i was like HAH! TAKE THAT FANG! YEAH! THAT'S WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU EXCHANGING SPIT W/ OTHER GIRLS! yeah. it's crazy i know. but anywho, what did you think of those two scenes??

I'm not an obsessive Fax phangirl, so I don't have much of an opinion, except "Come on, JP, get to the action already and skip the mushy stuff." Weird, I know. But a LOT of people on here would agreee with you, based on their stories.

About jeb, i agree with maximum ridegirl. it is hard to tell whose side he's on, especially when all

we see in school's out forever is how little he cares about his son. But there are other times when he almost seems... wise? I don't know, he's a strange character, but that's what i love about him.

About Max+Fang, when i read that i just thought 'That's strange, i always thought he liked Max' but i dindn't care so much. This might be because i never really liked fang, i mean, i like him, but not that much. After reading saving the world and other extreme sports my opinion on him changed completely. Now, i think he's a jerk. Did u see how he treated Ari? Did he think about Max's feelings? NO! I'm really angry at him, so if he doesnt do something really good for the flock in book 4, i'm gonna be even angrier. I mean, WHAT WAS HE THINKING?

The fact that you have the book and are not reading it shows that you a clearly insane. *laughs* just kidding. I wish my mum would get me the third book, but she says she won't until it's out in softcover. Do you know how horrible that is? I swear, my mum's evil. Nah, she's not. My plan was to get her hooked on the series too, so she would HAVE to buy the third, but apparently it's not as amusing to her as it is to me. Anywho, my favourite character is Fang. I think it's coz you don't know much about him the first two books. If there's more details on him in the third I'll probably be completly disinterested. Um, yeah, consider yourself you HAVE the book.
#30 Nov 12th 2007, 10:12pm
2artemis2
I dont have the book, i took it out from a library. Aren't there any libraries where u live?

u should be able to get it out, but if u wanna wait till u can buy it... about fang, there's not that much about him in the 3rd book, but he just does stupid things to Max and the rest of the flock (Nudge and Angel actually) that make me feel really angry. Read it, it's the best one of the three.

#31 Nov 13th 2007, 8:39am
mergirl007
I thought the first two were the best, actually. The utter stupidity of Fang's Blog in the plot of the third book made me mad. Plus, I love how Fang doesn't sign his little rabble-raising speech but yet everyone knows that it's from the author of Fang's Blog.

The third book had a lot of pointless twists in the story too. I won't ruin it for you if you haven't had a chance to read it yet by saying anything major, but I just want to say that the Director's little "revelation" that he/she (see how I'm not telling you important details?) was 101 years old made no sense- they were doing genetic experimentation back then? Watson and Crick found out DNA structure in the fifties, people! (or however long ago it was)- and didn't contribute anything to the plot. If anything, it made it much more confusing as the reader tried to figure out what was important and what was only thrown in to make the book longer and more confusing.

I had a lot of latent anger against the third book that I just released, lol.

WARNING MX3 SPOILER

Well, i never thought about that before. i didnt really care about how old she was,

what i thought was a bit stupid was that she told max she was her mum, and i really

believed it, but she wasnt, WHY WOULD SHE SAY SOMTHIN LIKE THAT IF ITS NOT TRUE? thats stupid.

and they told them that everything had been a dream, i didnt get why they did that, did u?

that was a bit confusing.

Anyway, Fang acted like a complete idiot in that book, didnt he? On second hes like max i love u so much, the next hes like choose between me or ari.

the things i thought were really good were: Max discover who the voice was(i loved that chapter!)

she also discovered who were her parents, i wasnt expecting dr martinex... that was too good, i

prefered the director for some reason. I still like it best though.

#35 Nov 14th 2007, 8:46am
mergirl007
The director being her mom was pretty cool- Max was having tons of angst, etc. But I guess JP didn't want to leave her in the postion of sharing genetic material with the bad guy. So after giving her plenty of time to cry/bang her head against the wall/declare total rebellion against her parent, he gave her a happy ending. :)

It seemed like JP was trying to make it seem like Max was being totally confused by Itex on purpose, and he dragged the readers along with Max into the ludicrousness of the plot switchbacks, etc.

Of course I bloody well checked the library! I'm retarded, but not THAT retarded! I appreciate the confort that the third ain't that good, thanks. You don't really need to really worry that much because I need the info for my fic.

Well, Total's got a lot of one-liners in it that were amusing. And some of Max's retorts were worth reading the book for.

See, I'm like the queen of rationalizing crazy plot twists, but honestly! The only thing I can think of is that JP is stealing from H. G. Wells's The Island of Dr. Moreau -- because that's the only sane way you could even try to have this happen. Argh. (Because there's primitive genetic - messing - about in that book. Go read it, it's very short.)

Oh, and it was 1956 or so. Watson and Crick, that is.

So basically, we're talking about 1899 or so -- come on, it'd be on the level of the blood transfusions in Dracula! (Everyone magically has Mina's same blood type.)

#40 Nov 25th 2007, 8:44am
mergirl007
Never seen Dracula, but I get your gist. That little fact really pissed me off when I was reading MR3- as you probably could tell from my spiel. I didn't even go into the idiocy of the blog because I didn't want to waste an entire page of the post on it.

My grandpa is like, 103 years old now, so really 101 years isn't such a big deal. So I can't imagine James Patterson (JP reminds me too much of princess diaries)doing that just to shock and surprise people. Who knows why he decided to insert that little useless fact. Maybe he's gonna use it in the fouth book? Like I said, Who Knows?

I've seen it Artemis- it's good!

Eh, he may be going to bring it up later, but I just wanted to point out the basic stupidity of saying that people were mixing human DNA and turtle DNA 50 years before DNA was even discovered.

#44 Dec 04th 2007, 10:45am
2artemis2
How do you know they grafted DNA into her human cells? Maybe something different happened to her,

or she could have been lying. We will learn more about it in the 4th book.

#45 Dec 04th 2007, 11:40pm
mergirl007
Um, to be part turtle she NEEDS to have turtle DNA grafted to her regular cells. This means that she could have had it done after she was an adult, or as a fetus. But if she looks about thirty now, that meansthat at the very most she had it done about 20 years before the structure of DNA was discovered by Watson and Crick.

She could've been lying, but what the heck would that accomplish? ...virtually nothing, which is just what it does to forward the plot now.

Maybe it will come up in the fourth book, but it's not likely because the fourth book features a new director. The current Director will probably not be important in the next book.

#46 Dec 05th 2007, 12:20pm
2artemis2
really? but i loved the current director! i don't want a new one!!

and if you're looking for any more mistakes done by JP, i know another one. In the

third book, Ari can't read or write, however, in the 2nd book when a kid thinks

he's wolvorine from x-men, he gives the kid his autograph!

#47 Dec 05th 2007, 11:13pm
mergirl007
XD! I never saw that! Umm... there's a typo in the third book on first page of chapter seven. It should be "pictures".

And sorry, but the synopsis I found a while back (on a forum somewhere) says that there's a new "Uber-Director".

#48 Dec 06th 2007, 3:10pm

I hate when theirs typo's in books, it makes me think it's a fan fic or something... and it's brings the author off that untouchable pedistal, you realize that they are just like you..... Just kinda strange.

They need to have more people who read the manuscripts looking specifically for errors. I'd volunteer! (Especially if that means I can get to read the books before they're released to the general population, lol.)
