Moonlight Wolf91Topic: Random Stuff This forum is to give some freedom to people in case if they get tired of talking about Okami. Talk about anything you want! I'll give a temporary subject (I know the subject will change) um, does anyone have any pets?| #1 Nov 15th 2007, 11:58am

Brent-Ka....That's all part of a sad sad tale.My dog got hit by a truck, (I was three. I didn't care all that much. I know it sounds mean, but three-year olds...just don't care) My cat got hit by a Honda (By this time I was 10, and attached to the thing like butter. I cried for two days) My ant farm all died in the mail (Literally got them frozen. One survived and we couldn't figure out how to feed it properly because the instructions were in Arabic. It died a week later, but hey, that's longer than most ants in the house) My Beta fish, the one that's supposedly the hardest to kill, went belly up the second we changed the water.... And my mom's bird...well we just gave the thing away. (Liked it, but not so much the bird seed.) I wanna cat again. Preferably a Manx. Not that I'm a fan of the tail stub, I just the like "M" on their foreheads. Geez that was depressing..... So....how many people here ever figured out the Babel Fish Puzzle on their first try? ^_^; (Yeah, I'm a geek. Get over it.) | #2 Nov 17th 2007, 10:51pm

Moonlight Wolf91i've never heard of a puzzle like that. and, yeah, that was depressing. right now, I have 3 dogs. a purebred husky, a shetland sheepdog/golden retriever mix, and a dachshund mix. my husky is the closest i have to a wolf. Wolves are my favorite animals (obviously).| #3 Nov 19th 2007, 12:03pm
Brent-KaI've always liked Huskies. A fennec fox would be awesome too, but they cost somewhere close to $2000 makin' them one of the most expensive domesticated animals you can get.i've never heard of a puzzle like that Kids these days ^_- You know Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Well along with the book, the radio series, the TV series and (At least 80% of) the movie, Adams also got a text game out back in the 80's. It was meant to satrize the genre in particualr and contained the HARDEST PUZZLE known to adventure game fans ever. I think the BBC has a flash version of it somewhere.... (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/game_nolan.shtml) Mind you this version has graphics. We would've killed for that back then. You crazy kids and your precious 'sprites'. In my day if you didn't type whole sentences, you would get eaten by a grue. (Woo! Double reference for me!) Nah, I'm not THAT old, although since I had a crappy computer most of my life, my early gaming career consisted of stuff made before I was born. It gives you an appreciation for old games, ya know? (Edit)- If anyone's interested I can get you started on the original versions of these and other text games. It's fun once you get passed the 'no graphics' thing. | #4 Nov 19th 2007, 3:42pm . |
Moonlight Wolf91you have to thank the old games otherwise the ones we have now won't exist! I'll try out the game soon. |
Brent-KaJust a warning. The game follows the book/movie/series/radio show rather closely, so if you keep dying in the first 15 seconds you may want to pick up the book yourself.(Totally worth it!) | #6 Nov 20th 2007, 11:23am

ElieareHuskies rule!!!!!! I've had a lot of pets through the years:hamsters( I've had like thirteen cuz one was pregnant O_o and I went from one hamster to nine in the span of one week), rats they bite a lot, an air-sick parakeet, yeah that was fun, Zebra finches, they chatter a lot, a cat that hated my guts and we had to get rid of cuz my sister was deathly allergic, mice, don't really remember them, igunas >shudders< viscious, nasty reptiles that still give me nightmares, and now we have a Husky mutt we rescued of the streets, she is the quirkiest, spunkiest, most jealous, sweetest and awesome old pup EVER, I say old pup cuz she's eleven but still acts like she's two, and a Guinea Pig, the sweetest, oddest and best rodent I've ever had, he's like my baby. Wolves are my favorite animals too. |
Moonlight Wolf91To Brent-Ka: I've played the game and now I'm thinking that I should look for the book if you know what I mean lol To Elieare: I once had iguanas but they died and one of them bit me once too. I've had three hamsters and a whole mess of birds. but now I'm stuck with three dogs who I love so much.| #8 Nov 27th 2007, 12:12pm
ElieareDogs are the best. The iguanas liked to smack me in the face with their tails too... >shudder<. Anyways, more randomness: is anyone good at pre-cal? Oh, and which one does everyone think is better: werewolves or vampires? (I'm a werewolf fan myself, hence why one of my friends calls me Furball) | #9 Nov 27th 2007, 10:42pm
Brent-KaAnyways, more randomness: is anyone good at pre-cal? Derivatives suck. Nah, math in general is enough to make me curl up in a fetal position and start crying. I'm an English major, gosh darnit. Numbers are kryptonite to me. Werewolves. Maybe it's the semi-furry in me, maybe I'm just sick of vampires... Maybe I like wolves who knows? By the way, sad tale. The Japanese Wolf was hunted to extinction in the early 1900's....but then again they were breaking into settlements and mauling people so take out of it what you will. We get the Shiba Inu out of that though. Curly tails! | #10 Nov 27th 2007, 10:55pm
ElieareYES!! Werewolves RULE!!!That sucks with the Japanese wolf extinction thing, although, I suppose it's somewhat understandable. I don't know though, to quote Star Trek, "It's illogical to hunt a species to extinction." Anyways, yeah, math is not my strong point either, I can handle Algebra though, I hope they'll let me challenge math once I get to college or let me take an Algebra course. I don't want to do full-blown Calculus, I mean, I want to be a cop and a writer, what do I need that insanity for? Ah, there's another random topic: anyone a Star Trek fan besides me? | #11 Nov 27th 2007, 11:12pm
Brent-KaMostly just the TOS. In the orignal series when menaced by an alien, Kirk would kick it's butt (or biological equivalent), get the girl, and shoot stuff. In NG, Picard would ask it to leave. It usually would. Not that I hate the NG/Voyager/DS9 timeline, there were some great moments there, but the Federation got..controlling. "Beer is illegal. No private shuttlecraft. Stock market? What's that?" There's a quote from a DS9 episode that sums it up pretty well. "Why is the Federation so obsessed with the Maquis? We've never harmed you. And yet we're constantly arrested and charged with terrorism. Starships chase us through the Badlands and our supporters are harassed and ridiculed. Why? Because we've left the Federation, and that's the one thing you can't accept. Nobody leaves paradise. Everyone should want to be in the Federation...You know, in some ways you're even worse than the Borg. At least they tell you about their plans for assimilation. You're more insidious. You assimilate people and they don't even know it." Quote. For. Truth. But that's just me being bitter about fictional governments. I'm really looking forward to the reboot or prequel or whatever Abrams has in store for us.... (By the way? Doohan was the greatest actor known to mankind. You know it's true.) | #12 Nov 27th 2007, 11:33pm

Moonlight Wolf91im not much of a star trek fan since i dont watch it. um yeah i hate math. im somewhat good at it but that doesnt mean i like it. recently a species of dolphin went extinct i forgot the name though. anyway for the werewolf-vampire thing, i like werewolves better. i mean turning into a wolf is better than turning into a bat!| #13 Nov 28th 2007, 7:34am
ElieareYeah, I didn't like that aspect of Star Trek either, but I grew up on it and I love seeing all the new stuff the writers come up with. Doohan was a great actor, so was Brent Spiner, I mean he's the comedian group and yet he pulls off acting the part of an android so flawlessly, that takes talent. I can't wait for the new movie either, I kinda hope it's not a prequel though, they didn't do so well with that one series, the one with Archer, yeah I didn't like it. Klingons and Vulcans are my favorite aliens though (talk about polar opisites, I can't spell that word). What about X-Files? | #14 Nov 28th 2007, 10:26pm
ElieareTo dragonwolf maiden: Yes! Another werewolf fan!! Whoot! Seriously, who would want to turn into a bat? Personally, I like to see, and wolves are just better. {^_^}| #15 Nov 28th 2007, 10:28pm

Moonlight Wolf91yeah wolves are beautiful yet dangerous. i like the wolf because it kind of reminds me of myself. sometimes alone but sometimes with a pack. I seem a lot like that.| #16 Dec 03rd 2007, 12:04pm

Moonlight Wolf91Nothing really. All I've been doing is playing Guitar Hero. It's a lot of fun and I get to listen to my rock music ^_^ I noticed that some of my fav. games are the best reviewed. I mean, Okami got 5 stars out of 5, LoZ: Twilight Princess 5 out of 5, Guitar Hero 5 out of 5.| #20 Dec 05th 2007, 7:33am

ElieareThe profile thing still didn't work...Anyways, Ive got a lot of tests, tommorow I have three, chemisrty (what was I thinking when I got into AP Chemistry?), Criminal Investigations and a nasty History midterm that will cover 27 chapters o_O. i think my brain will be mush by the end of next week, cuz I also have to interview a chemist, create a civil war skit, create a CD of songs that fit the book I read in English, complete with lyrics and what-not, and prepare for the dreaded pre-cal nine weeks (yeah, my retarded school has nine week marking periods instead of six week marking periods). I have another Chemistry and Criminal Investigations test too next week, so I guess all I'm doing is homework and studying. -_- I can't wait for Christmas Break!!!! I am so going to play OKAMI!! ^_^ | #23 Dec 05th 2007, 11:07pm

Brent-KaThe profile thing still didn't work... Weird. What's happening when you click on it? Huh, guess I'm lucky. I just have a few papers left to do (Although notice it's 2 AM as I write this. ^_^;) and a presentation in Sociology that I'm going into COMPLETELY blind. I didn't even find out my topic until my partner called me a few hours ago. Whee, tommorow...or today, whatever, is gonna be fun. -_- I wanna go to bed. | #24 Dec 06th 2007, 12:24am

Moonlight Wolf91criminal investigation? i didn't know that there was a subject like that! the only thing that's somewhat unique to me would be anatomy/physiology (which is unbelievably hard!) and psychology (I love that class).| #25 Dec 06th 2007, 7:38am
Brent-KaI worked in an off-campus bookstore over the summer, which was a great way of deciding what classes you should take. A&P had a textbook the size of my laptop, and a study guide that was thicker than the textbook. Not to mention the 7 optional books you could buy. What's the coloring book for?Long story short, I elected not to take that class. Not like it matters anyway, I'm a Journalism major. *Edited because there's no such thing as a "study thick" Bah, I typed too fast.* | #26 Dec 06th 2007, 10:39am . Edited Dec 06th 2007, 2:20pm

Moonlight Wolf91I took it cuz I thought it would be interesting. it IS but it's just too hard. there's a lot of stuff to remember and there are things that I've never even heard of that existed in the human body. and it's also a CP class. I'm actually more of an art person. So when college comes around, I'll go for either a psychology major or CG major.| #27 Dec 06th 2007, 12:00pm

ElieareWeird. What's happening when you click on it?Click on what? Anyways, I SURVIVED!! But, naturally, I'm super sick now, fevor, stuffy nose, sore throat, body aches, the whole deal, and I can't be absent from school. However, I actually knew what I was doing for most of my chemistry test, I knew all except for three on the CI test and the History midterm was a monster but I think I passed, AND, I passed the Pre-cal test I took on Mon. that I was worried bout cuz it was trig, with an 89!!! Yeah, that is a miracle. Now I only have the projects, one more week, that's all ^_^ Oh, and the criminal investigations is unique to my school because we have an ex-cop who had a teaching degree and came to our school, I took his law class last year (extremely interesting, fairly difficult though due to the complexity of our criminal justice system) and this year I took CI, which is the stuff you see on CSI, also interesting but difficult, there are lots of things to remember and tiny details you have to get right. Next year I want to take his security class cuz if I pass I can legally be an armed security guard anywhere in Texas, a good starting job for college. Anyways, I wanted to take pyschology but I don't have the schedule room, and good luck with that A&P, I'm just gonna take physichs thank you {^_^} By, the way, what grade is everybody? I'm a junoir in high school. | #28 Dec 06th 2007, 10:06pm

Moonlight Wolf91im a junior too. and I think physics is hard too at least thats what my chem. teacher told me last year.| #29 Dec 07th 2007, 7:39am
Brent-KaTechnically I'm a sophomore in college, although thanks to some abysmally low math scores on my entry exam, I haven't been able to transfer to a real 4 year university yet (Application's in the mail) Since I just recently learned than NONE of the Journalism programs I took here are gonna transfer to where I wanna go, that might knock me back down to Freshman if and when I get out of here.| #30 Dec 07th 2007, 10:34am
Moonlight Wolf91so that makes you the oldest out of us but don't take that the wrong way. I guess the math scores sank your boat to the university. But there's always a way to get out.| #31 Dec 07th 2007, 12:06pm

Elieareto Brent-ka: That really sucks, can't you challenge your math classes? You'd have to pass a test(it's mostly Algebra II though) and still take a class for the hours, but it wouldn't have to be a math course. That might just be a Texas thing though... (Texas IS a very odd state). I hate how not all credits are transferable, I think that's stupid, I mean you took a course, passed it and paid for it, why shouldn't it count? To dragonwolf maiden: I hear mixed things about physics, one of my friends who struggles with it asks me questions all the time and I've been able to answer them even though I haven't taken the class so I think I'll do okay, it's definently not as hard as AP Chemistry too, and that is all that matters.{^_^} I'm debating on what math I should take next year, Statistics or Calculus? I don't like Pre-cal so I'm leaning more towards Stats, and I think I need a credit of it for my college degree anyways, but have either of you taken them? | #32 Dec 07th 2007, 2:33pm
Moonlight Wolf91heck no! I really suck at math which is why I'm in geometry which is sad since my cousin has it and she's a sophmore. I've heard things that Stat. is harder than calculus but then again, you can't always trust words.| #33 Dec 10th 2007, 7:33am
ElieareI hated geometry, absolutely positively HATED it!! i took it freshmen year because I was a part of this "advanced" program and took Algebra 1 in middle school(ah, good old Algebra, the last math that I liked) and for some reaon the school decided I needed geometry before Algebra 2 (why? Who knows, maybe they just failed arithmetic) so I took it and it was mnfsdjhfuammvijngfij. After that i haven't liked math, Algebra 2 was still easy but my teacher did NOT know how to teach and this pre-cal stuff is just o_O.Enough of that horrid subject though. hey Brent-ka I like you're new avatar thing, I've been looking for a new one but i haven't found anything I like better, so where do you search? | #34 Dec 10th 2007, 7:25pm
Brent-KaI hated geometry, absolutely positively HATED it!! Now see, Geometry I can handle at least in that case you're using actual math, whereas in Algebra you're trying to get to the stuff behind math. I've been looking for a new one but i haven't found anything I like better, so where do you search? Both Google Image Search and the search engine itself came in quite handy for this one. Banjo's so obscure, I had to dig pretty darn deep. Try going to wiki pages and following the links provided. Dogpile's good if all else fails, but it's results are so random at times.... Believe it or not, Ebay's not a bad place to find things either. Scans there can often be cropped into the image you want. (That's how I got this one. Some kind soul left a scan of the VHS box up there. I took the back of it, and cropped it off into what you see to the left of me) Incidentally, I'd also like to go off topic and point you guys here for no reason whatsoever. (http://www.donbluth.com/DB_BASICS/DB_MOVIES/feet_sm.mov) Banjo entertains me. ^_^ Sissies! Fraidy cats! | #35 Dec 10th 2007, 8:52pm

Elieare*Now see, Geometry I can handle at least in that case you're using actual math, whereas in Algebra you're trying to get to the stuff behind math.Wow, you and i are the exact oppisites in that case. For me, geometry(and now pre-cal) would never stick because it always seemed like 'now do this' 'why?' 'because you do that's why' and in order for me to understand I need to now why I'm doing what I'm doing or else it gets jumbled. That explains why Algebra is easier for me, cuz that's all it's about, why you do this or that calculation. Seriously, anyone need help in Algebra run it by me, i got a 98 on the end of course exam and nothing below a 94 on my report cards in ALGEBRA and algebra ONLY. Anyways, let's see where your link takes me Brent-Ka... | #36 Dec 10th 2007, 10:18pm

ElieareProbably, I'll get to it eventually.I'd write more but I'm way too tired, i only got two and half hours worth of sleep last night and I have a horrid Chemistry nine weeks first thing tommorow so I'll write more, well probably not until Sunday because I have my friends birthday party tommorow, this band thing all day Saturday and an airsoft game Sunday morning/afternoon, so if you don't hear from me for a while I didn't die (at least I hope I didn't) I'm just busy. | #40 Dec 13th 2007, 9:53pm

Elieare*yeah I'll probably won't be able to get on fanfic until Monday because I'll get no access to the Internet where I'm goingWhere did you go? YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!! CHRISTMAS BREAK IS FINALLY HERE!!!!! Oh and I passed my chemistry and pre-cal exams as well as that history midterm (I got the highest score! Oh, just to show how hard this test was I got a 76, yeah, wasn't too thrilled about that until I learned that it wasn't bad compared to most of my classmates) Wow, I'm such a nerd, well, at least I'm not an ubernerd{^_^} Would I be shanked if I brought politics into this discussion? The first time I'll be eligible to vote is for the presidential elections so I have to pay attention and I would love feedback from others, even if you're not old enough to vote yet, your opinion still matters. | #42 Dec 18th 2007, 11:23pm

Brent-KaAt the risk of cheesing everyone here off? Okay, you asked for it.I'm angry, cynical at the world and just really hate people in general... You guessed it. I'm a Republican. Well, all that and I think that any government run program is ultimately flawed and government itself needs to be reduced to it's bare federal essentials. I know, I suck. With my luck I'll probably be on welfare the second I get out of college. (Sigh...) I would vote Libertarian, but they're never going to win anything, face it. Now wear your seat belt, quit smoking and don't touch those trans-fatty acids. Edit- Ack! I forgot the recommendation. C'mon who do you think I'm supporting? I'm all for Huckabee of course. On the Dem's side, Chris Dodd seems alright, but he ain't gonna win the nomination. | #43 Dec 19th 2007, 12:28am . Edited Dec 19th 2007, 12:31am

Moonlight Wolf91Where did you go? I went to my dad's house for the weekend and the computer is in my possessive cousin's room. so I'm lucky if I able to use it. I'm going to stay with my dad for half the time of christmas break. | #44 Dec 19th 2007, 7:39am

ElieareTo Brent-KaYeah I'm leaning towards Huckabee too, Chris Dodd is the only redeeming candidate on the democratic side for me too, but like you said he's NOT gonna win the nomination. So that leaves Obama(I have no clue how to spell his name) and Hilary Clinton; I don't trust Obama because he's way to manipulative, and you can't tell what he's really thnking, and I'd like to have at least SOME clue what the president is thinking and what he really means, that's actually one of the reasons I like Bush, he may not be the best president but he was put in a no-win situation pretty early on in his term, and with all those goofy expressions he makes you always know what he's thinking and he's not a good orator so it's not like he CAN be manipulative with his words. Hilary just irks me, she's way to headstrong, and not a good compromiser, which is something I think the president needs to be. I haven't seen much of Huckabee, but I don't like the other Republican candidate (I can't remember his name either) and I'm pretty sure Huckabee will win the nomination. Oh, and I missed the debates because I had band stuff, but did anyone bring up the immigration issue? I live in a border city so that's also a decisive issue for me. To dragon-wolf maiden: Ah, well good luck fighting for computer rights, and I hope you have fun with your dad. | #45 Dec 20th 2007, 7:44am
Brent-KaNearly every Republican candidate has extremely strong views on how immigration should be handled. Tancredo (Whom I also like, but he's planning to withdraw) voted for the 'great wall' idea. He thought the term 'fence' was too soft.Thompson wants to reorganize the immigration service and have them work it out. He's being extremely vague about it, and it doesn't fall in line with his usual rhetoric of states' rights. Ron Paul (Hahahahaha...no!) hates everybody who isn't American enough for him, would like to basically stop immigration, legal or illegal, and withdraw from UN (I can see why) and NATO (What the beans?!) and would prefer to pretend that Iran doesn't exist (Get it yet? I don't like this guy at all. He's like the American version of Neville Chamberlian.) Brownback would basically just claim amnesty for everyone who's already got here and then build the fence. That would be messy. And Guiliani...well, his past record of promoting sanctuary cities, and 'as long as they can speak English, they're citizens.' thing doesn't line up with what he's saying... Huckabee likes Bush's plan. Enforce the law but at the same time provide a chance for the illegal immigrants already here. I'm not entirely too sure about that one though... | #46 Dec 20th 2007, 10:10am
ElieareHmmmm......... I don't really like any of their ideas {^_^}. I guess I agree with Huckabee the most though. Bush's plan isn't perfect but it's better than wasting money on a wall, because we actually recently tried that in my city and it hasn't done squat, just suck up millions of dollars. I mean not even the Rio Grande can stop them from crossing, so a wall won't do it, most of the time they just come for work too. Ron Paul's idea is just... moronic, Brownbacks plan would never work and/or severly backfire and Guilini's on the right track but he's not prepared enough yet and is too vague so he wouldn't get anything done.Well, that's enough politics for now, I think we lost dragon-wolf maiden too. So who is actually going to get snow on Christmas? I won't, when you live in the desert you're lucky to get snow at all, much less on Christmas. Of course my idea of a good snow is about four inches so that may not even count to some people. Hey, but we did good this year with annual percipitation, we got nine whole inches (we normally get around four to six, it's amazing anything lives out here). In case you can't tell I hate the desert, I love cold, i love rain, hail, sleet snow and cloudy days, not an unwavering sun that will burn you when it's fifty something degrees ceacause you're a high-altitude desert. Okay, I'm done ranting now. | #47 Dec 22nd 2007, 8:57pm
Brent-KaSay that after you get stomped by snow. Don't get me wrong. I love the stuff, but it came out of nowhere.St. Louis. If you don't like the weather wait .0005 seconds. -_- What that means is we go from having perfectly summer-esque fallish-winter days into giant messy coldsopts that knock out your electricity. Some days it's been sticky (The best kind of snow for building snowmen, snowball fights etc.) and other days very dry (Sledding snow) and on the worst days not dry or sticky enough (The kind that's just plain annoying.) So it looks like we'll either have a very white Christmas over here, or a very wet one if this rain/slush keeps up. Hopin' it'll freeze. The wet and the cold are fun for about a week or so. It's only after you realize that it's not going to stop that it gets annoying. Do you know how many people around here would lop off their own arm for that unwavering sun? Ah well, the Imps are always greener on the other side I suppose. | #48 Dec 22nd 2007, 9:31pm

Elieare*Ah well, the Imps are always greener on the other side I supposeIn terms of weather I agree, i have the theory that whatever climate you grow up in you hate and wish for a different one.
