Topic: Questions
Ask me a question about this RP and I'll answer it the best I can.

I was just wondering if I have to wait for an approval process before I start to rp? Oh, and are students allowed to catch Pokemon at the school?
#2 Nov 27th 2007, 8:52am
Kicon
You don't have to wait for an apporoval process. Just type in your character and have a blast! And yes you're allowed to catch the forest pokemon. Hope that helped!

I have another question. How many characters can a person have?
#4 Nov 27th 2007, 4:30pm
Kicon
I'd like it if you could have only one. But you can two if you want. I'm going to have two. I just haven't added the other character yet.

I just keep thinking of more questions^_^ Are the teachers free to rp? Or are you going to do that?
#6 Nov 27th 2007, 4:59pm
Kicon
questions are welcome here! I'll be playing the teachers and waitresses/waiters.

I was just wondering if it's alright to RP students in the classes my characters aren't in. For example, could I RP a student in the coodinator class while my characters are in the masters class? I wouldn't make a character bio or anything. They'd more like filler students since there are only two of us right now.

Yeah that's ok!

I have a thought about role-playing other people's Pokemon. I don't think it should be allowed. What about you?
#10 Dec 29th 2007, 8:19am
Kicon
I don't think so either. Role playing other people's pokemon is basically playing their character, which is also against the rules. Good thinking!

Are you allowed to start with more than one Pokemon, and are they allowed to have moves that it wouldn't have at its particular level unless it was bred (including if they are nongender, like my little Rotomu-kun *cuddles my Rotom*)?

Also, are you allowed to start with Pokemon that, by the original TCG definition, are Stage 1 or Stage 2 (that is, they're not in their first evolutionary stage)?

EDIT: One other question I realized I should ask -- what are the differences between the four dorms, besides the people there? Is one of better quality than the others or what? (Asking so that I can put my character in a normal dorm, the way I would probably plonk my character into the Ra dorm if I was entering a Yu-Gi-Oh! GX RP forum... I'd prefer to create an eccentric over an Einstein, thank you.)

Answers:

1. yes

2. yes

3. yes

4. There's not really much of a difference. Yet there is. what that difference is you and the others on this rp will find out later. (Hint: It has to do with the way the buildings were designed)

Another question: Can we start with our Pokemon holding items (e.g., my Spiritomb has a Wide Lens equipped, or my Drifblim has a Razor Fang)?

One more question and I'm done: which class would be best for someone who wants to become a Gym Leader somewhere? (Not saying that I'll take it, just saying that I am thinking about having my character in that class.)

Master is what you put when you know you want to be a master of something (Water pokemon master, pokemon master, rock pokemon master, etc.)

Trainer is what you put when you don't know what you want to be, you're just a trainer. So we put you in trainer class till you know what you want to be. Or until the year is over.

I kinda made a gross error in judgement; I didn't look at the class threads before I posted my last question . . . so I changed it to a different one. However, your answer to my initial question answered my new one, so . . . you don't need to answer my new question. X_X

I'll answer the newer question for others:

Put 'leader' in the status sections; I made another class: Leader Class.

Can pokemon stuff from the real world (games, manga, etc.) be put in the RP?

I don't understand your question. Please explain.

Can a character be reading the pokemon special manga or playing games like ruby/ sapphire/ firered/ pearl?

Yes

Another question hit me. Do moves/ battles work more like the anime or like the game? Example of what I mean:

Anime: Roserade uses energy ball! Gastrodon uses mirror coat! Energy ball reflects off the Mirror coat and goes back to Roserade, Gastrodon not being touched.

Game: Roserade uses energy ball! Gastrodon takes heavy damage! Gastrodon uses Mirror Coat! Roserade takes twice as heavy damage!

They work like in the anime style. You'll learn in Gym Class.

How about the moves? Are they gonna be limited to 4 or are they all gonna be remembered, even if its not used much?
#26 Jan 02nd 2008, 1:27am
Kicon
All moves possible, not just four. Makes the battles more...interesting. Two of my characters are going to battle in the practice gym if you want to watch.

Are we able to combine moves to produce certain effects, like in the anime?

For example, with my little Rotomu-kun . . .

Charge + Discharge + Charge + [not a move, but just some somersaulting] = Spark Wheel

Rotomu-kun uses Charge like normal, uses Discharge like normal, but a split second after using Discharge it Charges again, pulling the Discharge back around it as it starts to spin, forming an electric wheel effect that, when it touches down on solid earth, will rocket forward at an opponent. In short, it's a more complicated, Electric-type version of Flame Wheel.

. . . So, are combos like this possible?

#28 Jan 03rd 2008, 1:24pm
Kicon
Yes they are!! My character Alyssa has her houndour named Pup do a move called Thunder Slam: Crunch + Thunder Fang + Tackle.

Crunch lagens his fangs, Thunder Fangs makes his teeth covered with electricity. Her runs up to the opponent really fast cuz of Tackle and slams his body into the pokemon and bites down really hard.

Another question: Status effects, can pokemon in the RP be affected by more than one at the same time (i.e. burned and paralyzed)?

Also, are M. and I annoying you with too much questions?

#30 Jan 04th 2008, 12:07am
Kicon
1. yes

2. No

Are certain moves (ie fling, magic coat, cosmic power) open to interpretation? Example: Fling throws any nearby object instead of just the hold item.

Do pokemon get one ability (like in the main games) or both of their abilities (like the mystery dungeon games)?

#32 Jan 04th 2008, 8:27pm
Kicon
1. yes

2. Both abilities

Could you explain your first answer a bit more? I'm afraid that just the word 'fling' isn't a very descriptive answer to the question at hand -- whether or not certain moves that haven't seen use in the anime are open to logical interpretation (for example, Magic Coat; it reflects status-inflicting moves like Hypnosis, but it hasn't been used in the anime, so perhaps it might be thought to work in a manner similar to Mirror Coat, where it would bounce back the Hypnosis attack the way Mirror Coat would a Thunderbolt or Ice Beam).

No offense, it's just that I'm planning on putting some questionable moves (Dragon Pulse, Fling, etc.) on Pokemon on my second character's team, and I was wondering if their effects and/or behavior were, as asked before, open to interpretation . . . and I need an answer before I can finalize that team.

Sorry about the word fling. I wasn't thinking. My answer was yes, I edited. Again, sorry. If certain moves are similar (Like as you mentioned: Magic coat and mirror Coat) then they would act sort of the same. I recommend going to Bulbepedia for and information on pokemon. Go to my profile for the link.

Anyway, yes. Certain moves that aren't seen in the anime are open for logical interpretation.

Thank you for the clarification. Now, when the in-game day changes to the next one, Marrowchan (aka Marrow) and her team will be able to enter the equation.

Uh . . . I was working on fine-tuning Marrowchan when I came across a problem that merits a question:

Are we allowed to have stuff based off things from other series?

The reason I'm asking is because I've been toying with the idea of having Marrowchan carry a plushie of Big Core (a boss from Gradius) around . . .

For some example of what it would look like (or rather, what Big Core itself looks like, so that you have an idea of what exactly I'm asking if it's OK to do), here are some links to DeviantArt (neither of the accounts or the images on them are mine, I just ran into them and the one with the plushie sparked the idea -- after all, it's adorable!):

http://sonicsnake.deviantart.com/art/238-God-Save-The-Core-64490397

^ A CG art of Big Core.

http://thecraftytitan.deviantart.com/art/Big-Core-Plushie-On-Impulse-60051148

^ A Big Core plushie made by the artist, as said before it's what sparked the idea of Marrowchan, odd person she is, carrying around a plushie of Big Core (though it may or may not look like this one; I might actually just leave it to everyone's imagination, or I might not; I'm not sure at the moment...).

_-_-_-_-_-_

Also, and this is a question more about the in-game school policies, can characters carry plushies (or other non-study-related items) to classes? Or do they have to remain at the dorm (or in a backpack . . . *looks at the Cooked Bile and ectoplasm in M. Burusu's backpack*)?

We allowed to have Pokedexe's and those watch watchamacalls?
#41 Jan 13th 2008, 6:11pm
M. Burusu
They're called Poketch's, Picklewars2. And that's a very good question, considering how in the anime a Pokedex essentially was your Trainer ID (just a little long-forgotten detail that hasn't been brought up since Ash showed Officer Jenny his Pokedex and it acted as his ID, in fact has NEVER shown up [noticably] since; I say "[noticably]" because every time the group's had to register for something like a tournament or contest pass, the one registering had to give their Pokedex to Nurse Joy/whomever is doing the registration).

The watch thing could also refer to GSC's Pokegear too, y'know.
#43 Jan 13th 2008, 7:35pm
M. Burusu
True, but when one thinks of a watch from Pokemon nowadays the one that comes to mind first is the Poketch. Besides, the Pokegear's kinda outdated equipment . . . though it seems that the character Picklewars2 uses has one (and actually remembers the name of it, hence another reason I said the 'watch thing' was a Poketch). In any case, Kicon's the one with the answer anyways.
