Well, with this extended trailer, it seems like it'll span most of the first two games. So far this this looks like a basic retelling between the time Haseo first started the world, and the end of .hack//G.U vol 2 reminisce when he's fighting Ovan. However, this is only a glimpse of the whole, so reference to vol 3 can still occur.

The graphics are definitely of a higher grade that what's in the actual game's CGI cutscenes. As well, since this is a movie, a couple of scene definitely look different from what we see in the game. The infamous scene of Aida-Atoli stabbing Haseo appears to be the time when Sakaki infected Atoli with AIDA and Haseo fought against her Avatar Innis with Skeith in vol 2. However, Haseo is in his second level Adept Form and not third, but scenes probably changed for the heck of it.

There's also scenes of the fight scene between Ovan and Haseo, but since you fight Ovan twice in the series, it's difficult to tell which battle it is exactly. Perhaps both.

As well, Haseo himself looks like a demonic creature. His lvl 3 Adept Rogue outfit comes alive and the tail on his back moves around and such. It appears that, as cliche as it is, Haseo is fighting against a form of darkness in his heart. Whether it's AIDA or something more, who knows.

HaseoxAtoli haters, brace yourselves...There seem to be a level of *shudders* romance between the two. It is a trailer, so the particular scene is probably taken out of context, but just prepare yourself.

If you haven't played .hack/G.U. vol 3 redemption yet, you'll see a particular character that has a connection to Ovan that you only find out about in vol 3. She is Ovan's little sister Aina, who was the first Lost One PKed by Ovan. I mention this because the viewers will probably get Ovan's perspective of the first two games as well if there's no reference to vol 3. Speculation of course.

Over-all comment: Going by the trailer alone, the movie is going to be VERY different from the game series, so I would think that you treat the game series and the movie as separate things. However, the trailer looks promising for the movie, and hopefully we'll see and and all questions can be answered.

Yes, the story is sad. Poor Rin and Sayaki. Spoiler: They DO die at the end. And I made Hawkeye up off of the top of my head. So you wouldn't see it in ROOTS. But the fight was way before Haseo joined the Twilight Brigade, while B-set and Gourd were still in the Guild, so you wouldn't have seen the fight, anyways.

Yes, Yata sounds like the villan. But it's not REALLY him, don't ya think? And CG means 'Computer-Generated'.

And.... it is plausable that Nuada could've killed Zelkova. Even in Tartarga, Zelkova isn't a god. He can't wave his hand and delete someone or close of an area. He needs a computer and a warning. Nuada culd've snuck up behind him and PKed him. And about Kaede... I'd like to think she's the clueless servant kind, not really paying attention to anything else but Zelkova's safety. You'd think that your charge would be safe in his own server, right? So she left him to be for a while. Besides, Kaede has a life. She can't be on 24/7.
