In your dreams.

Yes, which is kind of the point.

Not sure if I want to waste precious packets-that-might-get-through on googling what in the hell the number 8 has to do with Guy Fawkes.

But damn. I wasn't even in the running this time. Epic fail.

And fourteen minutes until game four of the World Series. CC going up against Philadelphia's #4 pitcher. Love our chances.

I miss last post (again)?

Epic fail.

I don't think my story sounds right (could someone have a look at it for me? its under writing princessess on fictionpress and its called finding my beloved - chapter two especially, got to change the bit where I said desert was hot at night)

I'll check out your story Katy.

Morning all.

Do you think adding my Rainbows notice sheet word count to my NaNo total would be cheating? Yes? Shame.

Dejsha, you've changed your name again. It confuses me.

Desha, you;ve changed your name again. It confuses me.

Sorry Katy:) lucky you know from my pick (I don't intend to change it, as I haven;t got any pictures that I know of on my computer).

BTW, 2,474

I'm on 2500 exactly.

You need to update your word count on the NaNo site.

#16 Nov 02nd, 3:31am
Rita Arabella Black

Hi, ya'll. I started chapter 2 yesterday but I haven't written any today. I have got to work on my HP story and get that finished. But I want to work on my NaMoWriMo story. Good luck everyone!

Dejsha, I'm glad you only have one picture, you're name changes are confusing me...

Why would I get rid of Legolas?

I'm currently obsessed with the hole Hades and Persephone romance and please, tell me you have heard of it... *gasp* if you haven;t.

I'm a history nerd lol. (note: Nano novel). How do I update the count? (reason I put most of my stuff on ffn or fictionpress is cause I have microsoft word 2007 - with vista - and I don;t know how to do the word count.)

#18 Nov 02nd, 3:57am
Bad Mum

Top right hand corner of your NaNo page. Just put the number of words in.

I just did chapter 2 - 3445 words to date. :-)

I'm so proud of you! Sometimes it's better if I don't have a plot in mind...

Thanks Katy. So I don't need to post the excerpt if I don't want to? I might though, it is on fictionpress so might post the link:)

I'm currently engrossed in this Hades/Persephone fic which is really well written its called "Darkness becomes her".

Congrats on the NaNo participants. Y'all've got a great headstart on your stories.

I'm so proud of you!

You sound like the Flylady! (Do you know her? http://www.flylady.net/)

Sometimes it's better if I don't have a plot in mind...

Ain't that the truth. This looks like turning into a fully-fledged novel in its own right, and it was jsut supposed to be fillers for last year's.

So I don't need to post the excerpt if I don't want to?

No, the exerpt is just to give anyone accessing your page a favour of what you're writing. The site doesn't count the wrods for you - you just have to be honest and put the right number in.

I don't subscribe to forum threads. I have too much stuff in my inbox already.

AHHH we finished another topic.

I dropped off Harrison to his Early Start Program and am hopefully going to write this week during my free time. However, I do have a huge room that needs to be cleaned.

Watching TV's more fun than cleaning.... although not as much fun as writing. Well, when you're writing on something that you should be writing on.

Playing on here is much more exciting than putting the shopping away...

I love having the groceries deleivered, but I do not like having to find room for them all...

Watching TV's more fun than cleaning.

I agree Suzanne! Do I have to clean my room today? i'd rather spend the day attempting to write. Oh well, I'll just write till eleven, then start working on the room. Then when it's time to get harrison at 5:30pm, i can say "Look harry, i've been cleaning all day aren't you proud of me?"

#33 Nov 02nd, 5:42am
WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot

I've got meetings this morning and some other work-related stuff to do. I'll probably be off and on today.

Do I have to clean my room today? i'd rather spend the day attempting to write. Oh well, I'll just write till eleven, then start working on the room.

I've been saying the same thing about my office. Which, by the way, is drowning in muck and papers that need to be filed/shredded/organized, etc.

#34 Nov 02nd, 5:44am
Love From A Muggle

Which, by the way, is drowning in muck

Yuck. I'd rather be writing too if I had to do all that. What do you do if you don't mind my asking?

#35 Nov 02nd, 5:46am

The only reason I am in my room is to sleep and watch my tv if dad's watching the family one.

I wish I could go back to sleep. But I don't want to get into that pattern. oh well more coffee for me! Speaking of which, I should go warm it up.

I want another cup of tea myself. But I have to finish putting the shopping away first.

thats one thing I have always wondered about. Tea time. How does it work? I'm american so I dont know. I just started liking tea about 4 years ago.

#39 Nov 02nd, 6:07am
Bad Mum

thats one thing I have always wondered about. Tea time.

In this house the meal "tea" is just the evening meal, what you'd call dinner or supper. Some people drink tea with it, I guess. we don't - just water or squash usually.

I drink tea with lunch, and sometimes randomly mid-afternoon.

Traditional afternoon tea in posh houses in the past was thin bread and butter or sandwiches and cakes and tea to drink at about four in the afternoon. There's be a cooked dinner later. "High tea" is an evening meal with bread and butter, maybe cold meats or quiche or soemthing.

Confused yet?

#40 Nov 02nd, 6:12am
Love From A Muggle

lol nope. I've heard of traditional afternoon tea before but wasn't sure if that was what you meant. Thanks Katy. Squash?

#41 Nov 02nd, 6:14am
Bad Mum

Squash?

Um, codially stuff that you mix with water to make a vaguely fruit-tasting drink. Not a lot of actual fruit jusice in it - mostly sugar or sweeteners and additives.

#42 Nov 02nd, 6:17am
Love From A Muggle

ahh ok. I thought you meant some kind of juice made with the vegetable. LOL.

#43 Nov 02nd, 6:19am

Oh, that would be icky.

Sara Winters

Oh, that would be icky.

Yes, it would. That's why I had the funniest expression. Thanks for the tea explanation.

Anyone know if there are age restrictions on someone getting a wand. Like if they're homeschooled before Hogwarts. Do they have to be 11, close to attending school, or is it up to the parents as long as they're supervised?

I wouldn't know Sara, have you tried the harry potter lexicon?

My nan and Pop do the traditional tea.

I love tea (drink).

Its nearly two and I have nothing to do today (Melbourne cup is on, so I bet everyone'll be betting for the horses).

I want a good greek mythology book.

Mm, don't think it specifically states it anywhere.

How would the "no magic outside school" thing work for kids who were homeschooled past the age of 11 or so anyway?

Sara Winters

How would the "no magic outside school" thing work for kids who were homeschooled past the age of 11 or so anyway?

It wouldn't. That's not really my concern. I'm writing about Snape and I want him to have access to some kind of wand (preferably his own) so he can practice those hexes Sirius claims he knew when he started school. Maybe saying he knew more than some of the seven year students was an exaggeration, but I want him to know a few. His birthday's in January and if there's nothing in canon that contradicts it, I can probably get away with saying his mother got him a wand for his 11th, or maybe sooner if she'd been homeschooling him for a while. Can anyone here really see young Sevvie going to Muggle public school?

I know there was some stuff mentioned near the beginning of GoF. I'll have to look around for it to be sure.
