Moment of silence for today's annoyance.

Dear Self-Righteous Reader,

Every story that does not portray Ginny as flawless (though she became so in the 6th book) is not "bashing" her. It is possible for someone who likes her character to write her as doing something wrong. It does not make her evil. It does not make the writer evil. I understand your irritation with people who write Harry in relationships and bash Ginny, as you so eloquently stated when you painted me with that rather wide brush, but as this story is not a romance, her character displayed a moment of unnecessary jealousy in the books and a tendency towards cattiness (ooh, canon) and she is not a "villain" here, your opinion does not mean much to me - especially your assertion that some writers "can't" write Harry with another girl without bashing her. You have never read any of my other stories where she is mentioned and overreacted to this story. I feel bad for you that you cannot accept your favorite character doing anything wrong after her perfect incarnation appeared in the books. Blame her creator for your unrealistic expectations, not me. And next time, kindly be man enough to sign in so I can respond to you.

Signed,

Sighing Writer

God, don't you hate that?

(You mean Ginny is less than perfect? I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you.)

If it's any comfort, Sara, even those of us who like Harry/Ginny get that sometimes too. I was once absolutely reamed by an 'adult' (I use the word loosely, though he claimed to be in his 60s) reader because I portrayed Ginny as a little resentful of Harry having run off for almost a year with his two best mates whom he, incidentally, seems to trust a lot more and be considerably closer to than anyone else. This guy wrote several scathing paragraphs in his review, informing me that he could no longer read my portrayal of Ginny as a mean-spirited sl*t and just wanted me to know what he thought about what I'd done. So you can't really win with some of these people. I'd just delete the review, if I was you, and try not to let it bother you.

Err... I never got the sense that Fred and Angelina were deeply involved. They danced at a prom that Fred asked her to on a whim and they were friendly sometimes, which makes sense. As far as I know they were never in love, and even if they did date that was probably many, many years before George and Angelina got together. I don't see any reason to believe Angelina dated George for downright frightening reasons. Seems more likely to me that their relationship was founded on her helping him through his grief, and that doesn't sound screwed up at all.

As for Audrey, yeah, that was random, ut it seems strange to me that everyone should marry their first love (Penelope), unnatural to have all the characters within the story paired up, which leaves the option of an unknown person. Seeing your reactions to Charlie not being married at all I'm glad she just went ahead and put down a name.

Remus and Tonks dying definitely bothered me. Rowling admitted herself that she simply needed to kill someone close to Harry and Mr. Weasley was off-limits for whatever reason. In other words, she just couldn't kill off Ron or Hermione or Ginny or even Hagrid. Speaking of Hagrid, here's the one part of canon that really, really bothers me; did he mean, 'don't hurt the kids' or 'don't hurt the spiders'? Either way it's a defining moment for him, either as a truly good person who knows where to draw the line or an idiot who goes too far with his stupid quirks.

The fifty unknown deaths is a little annoying, too, but maybe it's best we don't know.
