MidnightxBluexBlackTopic: Fai D. Flowright/Yuui Fai is probably one of the most dynamic characters throughout the entire series of Tsubasa Chronicle. He starts out full of secrets. He puts on a wonderful smile which completely fools both Syaoran and Sakura. Always appearing happy and cheerful, Fai starts out as a support for the two children. His favorite passtime seems to be poking fun at Kurogane with all of his cute nicknames (my favorites are Kuro-daddy, and Kuro-wanwan). We learn that Fai has some experience with fighting. However, his past remains a secret until much later. For fear of ruining anything for those that don't follow the manga, I will simply state that Fai is made to face his past, and stand up against whatever it is that he had been running from up until now. These trials are what makes Fai the complex character that he is. If you look at him from the outer layer, then you don't even reach the bulk of the iceberg. Beneath Fai's outer coating are many, many deeper, more bitter layers, like an onion. And of course, it seems as though Kurogane is really the only one who sees through his brave act (but lets leave the shonen-ai out of this, okay?). For fear of ranting, I'll end with this: Of all of the characters in Tsubasa, I would have to say that Fai is my absolute favorite. Not because of his bishounen-looks, but because of his complexity. He has a history, and inner conflicts. He's not a realistic character by far, but he has growth. He evolves from a fragile mask, hiding behind a smile, to someone who can defend himself, who has the will to live. This is an utter turn around from how he started out. I really admire the growth we see in Fai through his interaction with his companions. He's definitely what you could call a 3D character. | #1 Jan 03rd 2008, 8:49pm .
