angelgrl0284Topic: Chat thread #3
I'm starting a new chat thread because you guys can't start me fantisizing about meeting Freddy and then not be able to talk about it! I honestly think he would be so awesome to hang out with. Of course, I'm not sure if I'd be able to get two words out, but I'd stare a lot at least. | #1 Jun 17th 2008, 10:31am

|
JunamrsgrlAKAJazzledLoL Angel, how do you think I feel? Someone said he'd tango with me?! That means I'd be touching him! *ooohhhh calm down.* | #2 Jun 17th 2008, 10:41am
|
|
fenway401920Okay, now you have me fantasizing about it too! And after I've been trying to be such a good employee all day! *thinking of excuses as to why I would have to take a trip to NYC*... Thanks for starting the new thread Angel... And Stuley...thanks for the icon...I loved my buzz cut one but when I saw this one I had to have it! Especially after yesterday's posts with Christy. | #3 Jun 17th 2008, 10:53am
|
|
ChristyOzomg omg omg!!! That is the bestest icon, Fen! I tried to check out Stuley's page to see the other ones she made, but my stupid work has that site blocked, too. :( | #4 Jun 17th 2008, 11:03am
|
|
JunamrsgrlAKAJazzledI was gonna use that one too Fen, but I'm currently writing Ch 3 and not feeling very Henry-friendly, so this one seemed more appropriate : ) | #5 Jun 17th 2008, 11:11am

Beatrice BenedickBWAHAHAHAH! I love the icon!!! Fen. oh well, I am so happy you started a new thread Angel. I can always return here when I am angry. You know I wrote this huge reply to howabominable at IMDB but I didn´t post it (again) because felt bad. I know I would have done the same if I were so bitter about a character become screwed up by the writers like they did to her Henry. I am happy to be able to come here and yell phrases such as: HE´S THE DAMN GUY! I LOVE GIO! and he´s got some BOOTY!!! I am determined to hear her shout with me one of this days at the Getty boards: Gio e il tipo, est l´homme, es el tipo... for Getty! | #6 Jun 17th 2008, 11:12am

ChristyOzI'm currently writing Ch 3 and not feeling very Henry-friendly ha I refuse to even acknowledge Henry in my story. Seriously, the nerd's such a downer that it pisses me off to even include him | #7 Jun 17th 2008, 11:18am
|
|
Beatrice BenedickYikes! So I am not the only one with the anti-Henry mode switched ON today! After today´s test I´ll make sure to keep up with the stories. Promise. | #8 Jun 17th 2008, 11:23am
|
|
JunamrsgrlAKAJazzledWell I'd love to just cut him entirely, but since my current fic is following the S2 storyline, I'm kinda stuck with him for now, lol. | #9 Jun 17th 2008, 11:23am

wooster182Angel, I told B that someone would beat me to starting this thread. I should have known it would be my Robin. :) I love your icon by the way. That's such a great line. We'll still need to ask Wren if she was the one that said it... Off to change my icon to the one Stu made for me. Yay! | #10 Jun 17th 2008, 11:41am

MicheleBellesyuck, Henry is really so boring. hes not even in my fanfic im working on. speaking of, is anyone interested in proofreading my first chapter of my fan fic?? because I don't want to post it without another pair of eyes reading it. PM me if you want to, with your email so i can send it to you via attachment. i could also use some ideas on how to continue my story. xoxo getty girls | #11 Jun 17th 2008, 11:49am

BleedPurpleHello! Nice to have a fresh new thread! oh well, I am so happy you started a new thread Angel. I can always return here when I am angry. You know I wrote this huge reply to howabominable at IMDB but I didn´t post it (again) because felt bad. I know I would have done the same if I were so bitter about a character become screwed up by the writers like they did to her Henry. I am happy to be able to come here and yell phrases such as: Hi B! You should just post it! Just try not to sound too bitter. To tell you the truth I wanted to post a response but I don’t have much energy today for posting, especially responding to her long post. I just feel there is a difference between inconsistency, consistency and depth, and I feel anything I have to add would start being repetitive. | #12 Jun 17th 2008, 12:32pm

Hysteria259Hey girls! You started a new thread while I was gone! You talk an awful lot. :) I have a day off tomorrow so I may work on fic/fanvid/icons. It's about time I pulled my weight! ... And now I have to leave you for half an hour because Freddy's Scrubs is on. | #13 Jun 17th 2008, 1:00pm

vavixenYay! The new thread is here! Today I had a smoked turkey, smoked gouda, and SUN DRIED TOMATO sandwich on wheat. And yes, the sun dried tomatoes were "salty and breathy" and DELICIOUS!! Team Gio!! | #14 Jun 17th 2008, 1:02pm

fenway401920I would encourage you to post it too, B...you have a right to speak your mind! I even considered posting, after reading all the bank-and-forth. First, I found the "fangirl" comment condescending. And, even though she tried to explain herself in later posts...it still made me angry. As you know I'm a relative newbie but I love coming here and discussing everything there is to discuss about the show, FR, Gio, Betty, Henry, and even enjoyed getting into the politics. I've found everyone here to be really intelligent and funny (much more so than other sites). Frankly, I don't see anything wrong in just having fun with the show. It's supposed to be entertaining! People need to have a little fantasy in their lives. Chillax! Second, I would agree with Purple's posts about her not being clear about what sort of "flaws" she would like them to bring to Gio's character. I think he supposed to be a "guys" guy and real. Real guys have flaws and we saw some of his....but that doesn't mean he has to have "character assasination" flaws. I just finished rewatching S1 and Henry didn't have many flaws in that season either. He was a like a male version of Betty...and to me, that was just going to get old baby or no baby. Third, I agree with howabominable (could she have picked an easier name...geez)...that the writers went through some inconsistencies with storylines and characters. But, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt due to the writers' strike and everything. I'm hoping they will be inspired to write more depth into Gio's character so that we can watch Betty get to know him better. If they don't, I'm pretty sure FR will get tired of playing him (and none of us want to see that happen anytime soon). Okay, I said my peace. Now, I have to go read some fanfic to calm myself down. | #15 Jun 17th 2008, 1:03pm

vavixenFen, can you point me to the post folks are talking about--I've been gone for hours and need to catch up-- | #16 Jun 17th 2008, 1:08pm

|
fenway401920Sure Va! I had a little time on my hands at work so I had an opportunity to read it (and wanted to after seeing B's posts...anything that can get her that worked up has to be good, right B?). If this link doesn't work just go to imdb.com search ugly betty and you can find it there. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0805669/ | #17 Jun 17th 2008, 1:19pm

stuley23LMAO--So, I made these and then read the fangirl posting on IMDB. Oops! Oh, well--I guess you CAN call me a proud fangirl, though I don't imagine myself married to FR and/or Gio (NOR would I be OMG!DEVASTATED if Gio and Betty didn't work out on the show). Joking is one thing, being delusional is another. But whatever. It was a really boring and frustrating day at work and it gave me something fun to do. ;) So, that being said, after joking about it in Chatzy last night and after Juna said something about it in the icon thread, I mocked up a Team Gio T-shirt design thanks to Cafe Press. If anyone is interested, I can post the actual file that made these two T-shirt designs. They're kind of large so that the image on the shirts came out clear and all. I can vouch that CafePress items are good quality (I have a few Obama and The shirts I bought/made from there) and pretty reasonably priced--no more than you'd pay at a mall or Hot Topic or something. Plus, you can apply the design to other things you might be interested in under the "Create your own" option. Okay, end spiel, let's get on to the good stuff, the T-shirt samples: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v624/etod23/TeamGio/cafepress-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v624/etod23/TeamGio/cafepress-2.jpg If anyone's interested in the Team Gio T-shirt file, just let me know! :D | #19 Jun 17th 2008, 2:04pm . Nadie11GREAT IDEA !!! I do want to have one of that T-shirt... Do they carry large sized one? (yes, I'm a big girl !) Wait, no... how can I buy them? [sob x 1000000000000] | #20 Jun 17th 2008, 2:13pm . Edited Jun 17th 2008, 2:15pm

stuley23http://www.cafepress.com/cp/customize/ If you go to that link Nadie, you can see all the stuff they have you can put the design on. There's regular T-shirts, cups, mugs, stickers, you name it! Maybe I should apply the design to a number of things and set up a CafePress store? Then whatever money is generated from us buying stuff can go to a charity or something? Like maybe something like MWAH? Since it's what got FR started in his career. | #21 Jun 17th 2008, 2:18pm

gioliciousFenway, thanks for the kind words about my fic! Also, thanks to everyone who read it and reviewed! WOW, a new thread! This is an exciting day! It's like the changing of the guard! Nadie, so the Korean TV dub has both Betty & Henry using honorifics, that's so funny! I guess that's an easy way to establish their characters, but Betty would only really use honorifics (in S2) with Mrs. Meade and Mr. Meade, in my opinion. :) She's pretty loose with everyone else. | #22 Jun 17th 2008, 2:23pm

BleedPurpleSecond, I would agree with Purple's posts about her not being clear about what sort of "flaws" she would like them to bring to Gio's character. I did mention this, but it appears she sees Gio as Henry part two. The flaws Gio has she doesn’t consider them real flaws. I do, which is why I brought up the possibility of her looking for extreme flaws. She did say she’s not looking to make Gio a wife beater or anything. But that’s still confusing to me because this early, what “real” flaws can he have that won’t completely assassinate his character? Benries are still holding the fact that he got Betty to lie to get that wheelchair (which was Daniel’s) and stole her trophy back. Can you IMAGINE the reaction he would get if he did something like got jealous and put something in Henry’s sandwich to make him sick so he could talk to Betty? Obviously “I don’t want to be a rebound guy, I want to be the guy/Come to Rome with ME!” was a big switcheroo, but like yousaid, the Writer’s Strike affected this and so everything felt rushed. But this is all after the strike. Howabomidable said she’s never really like Gio. | #25 Jun 17th 2008, 2:55pm

BleedPurpleLMAO--I'm all about equal opportunity. If we set up a shop (and I thought they'd actually buy them!), I'd make Team Henry ones--but the money would still go to an FR related charity!! XD LOL! Or Maybe I should say “BWAH HA HA HA!!” When the Benries find this out they’d just set up shop right across the street from ours, complete with Everything Henry…shirts that say “Team Henry: It’s just something he knows”, ice cream makers, a fridge full of Egg Salad sandwiches, baby clothes and there will even be a travel agent, so people can schedule trips to fly back and forth between women you don’t want but knocked up and women you really want. We might have some competition on our hands stuley. | #26 Jun 17th 2008, 3:02pm

fenway401920Of course if a Benry fan sees us wearing that we’ll be shot in the streets. ;-) LoL...I can picture the scene...I'm wearing my awesome Team Gio t-shirt walking in downtown Boston when some Benry comes up to me wanting to kick my ass...my husband would be like, WTF? Not that I want to make more work for you Stu, but I think a Team Getty shirt would be cool too! I like the charity idea too. That might score us some points with the man! And, Christy...we can wear the shirts when we go on our stalker trip to NYC :-)....see now I'm smiling....ah, I love being a fangirl. | #27 Jun 17th 2008, 3:08pm

stuley23Not that I want to make more work for you Stu, but I think a Team Getty shirt would be cool too! I like the charity idea too. That might score us some points with the man! That is definitely doable--I can get on that tonight! :D I even have an idea for the description underneath! shirts that say “Team Henry: It’s just something he knows”, ice cream makers, a fridge full of Egg Salad sandwiches, baby clothes and there will even be a travel agent, so people can schedule trips to fly back and forth between women you don’t want but knocked up and women you really want. BleedPurpleLoL...I can picture the scene...I'm wearing my awesome Team Gio t-shirt walking in downtown Boston when some Benry comes up to me wanting to kick my ass...my husband would be like, WTF? LMAO! You know…this is really far off from reality. I remember reading an interview from a Soap Opera actor years back who had commented on how a woman came up to him, slapped him in the face and scolded him for the cruel and vile way “he” treated a female character on the show. Granted, it’s not a fan to a fan, but if you’ve ever seen the way Broncos fans in my city react to fans who are cheering for someone else, it’s serious business! | #31 Jun 17th 2008, 3:21pm

fenway401920Yes, I can relate...we Bostonians can get a little nuts when it comes to our sports teams (myself included)...you haven't seen scary fans until you've been to a Yankees/Red Sox game. Of course!! Wait, I'll skank it up a bit- I want Gio butt shorts!! WHOO! Skank it up a bit for sure! For me, since I won’t get back to NYC until late 2009 most likely, couldn’t you wear a shirt that says “Where’s MY ride, El Wray?” I’d love you forever!! If Elsie Rodriguez is standing there she might throw something at you, but a smile from Freddy might be worth the hit for me! | #33 Jun 17th 2008, 3:25pm

Oh the stories I could tell. Oh, I know about you Bostonians. My neighbors are from Boston, have a Red Sox’s flag outside their house and a dog named Fenway. You guys are REAL fans! :-) I watched The Curse of the Bambino (Bambini?) on HBO and it had me depressed for you guys when they were talking about losing the World Series. So I was very happy when Boston won!! | #34 Jun 17th 2008, 3:29pm

marbars289I love the idea of Team Gio shirts! Then again he might find us crazy if we were all there in our shirts while filming UB. I can't wait to hear more news about who def is around for filming, I can't take it anymore! After watching the "Into the Night" video, how could they NOT bring that back for the third season! And looking around a lot of boards and polls, many want to see him be back and be the guy. Gio is the guy!!!! | #35 Jun 17th 2008, 3:29pm

angelgrl0284B, howabominable royally ticked me off as well. She's gotten the the point with her bitching and insulting that I had to say something this time. That "squeeing fangirl" comment just sent me over the edge. I know I have my fangirl moments, but I'm not flitty and so mindless that I'm being manipulated by the writers or just "eating up the crap" they write about Gio. She's so damn bitter over what happened with Henry that she refuses to give Gio a chance. She has yet to give me a reasonable example of what she means by "real flaws", and she seems to completely ignore the fact that Henry and Daniel (and pretty much most male lead characters) have fangirls and that Henry was written to make girls "swoon" just as much as Gio was. More so, because he was just this sweet, cute, "adorkable" guy that liked Betty in the beginning. Gio started off kind of unlikable, and has proved he's a decent guy. And I find it highly ironic that the episode she decided he wasn't so bad was one where the writers were clearly aiming for Gio/Betty. Wooster, yes, Robin's there to assist Batman when she's unable to perform her MODErator-ly duties. :) Stu, I'll buy a shirt and I totally wear it to stalk... I mean, respectfully watch Freddy! | #36 Jun 17th 2008, 3:29pm . Edited Jun 17th 2008, 3:36pm

fenway401920Purple...yah, I think a lot of people were rooting for the sox back in '04...now though the tide has turned and people are getting sick of us winning everything. Oh well, after so many years of agony I can handle the backlash. Angel...the reason I didn't post on IMDb was because most of you and Purple had to say was exactly what I would have said so I figured why repeat perfectly sound arguements? Gioli- As I said earlier, I had a very slow day at work so I've been looking everyone for photos of SIFF and nothing is turning up. Some guy who blogs on livejournal claims to have pics but hasn't posted them yet. Both B and I wrote on his board to compel him to get his ass in gear. So far though, nada. | #40 Jun 17th 2008, 3:51pm

BleedPurpleHenry and Daniel (and pretty much most male lead characters) have fangirls and that Henry was written to make girls "swoon" just as much as Gio was. EXACTLY! In howabomidable’s defense, she did say that if we weren’t the swooning, squealing fangirls, then her message isn’t directed at us. She might’ve been referring to the gals who haven’t been as analytical about their Gio love as we have been. The “Henry sucks. Keep GIO!” girls! LOL! | #41 Jun 17th 2008, 3:59pm

She might’ve been referring to the gals who haven’t been as analytical about their Gio love as we have been. The “Henry sucks. Keep GIO!” girls! LOL! I know. And to be fair, I can't stand those kind of fangirls either, even within my own ship. But the way she's said (repeatedly) that the writers have manipulated people into "squeeing fangirls" implied to me that she thinks we all don't have a mind of our own. Her comments just rubbed me the wrong way and have been for quite some time. But I've said my peace on it and if she really didn't mean it as an insult to all Gio fans, then I'm cool. | #42 Jun 17th 2008, 4:05pm

BleedPurpleAhaha, Purple! Exactly, the pain of that hit will go away, but the memory of Freddy's smile would be forever engraved into your memories. ;) Yeah, but I just realized Freddy might not smile if Elsie is standing there with a pissed off look on her face. BleedPurpleBut the way she's said (repeatedly) that the writers have manipulated people into "squeeing fangirls" implied to me that she thinks we all don't have a mind of our own. You’re right. I would think that anything the writers plan for future stories could be considered a manipulation, if written well. Even having us love to hate but hate to love Wilhelmina is an excellent manipulation. | #44 Jun 17th 2008, 4:13pm

wooster182That's something about Benries--and apparently exBenries--that really get on my nerves. They act like we're being manipulated or "hypnotized." D. U. H. It's a show. Any piece of literature whether it be a book or a script is a story. And a story is supposed to take the readers somewhere. If the viewer/reader doesn't follow the story, then they are not actively participating in that story. Does that make sense? And it's so self-righteous to say that our feelings don't count because we have been manipulated into liking Gio. What made them like Henry? And haven't they figured out that Horta isn't "the man." Going back to my previous paragraph, if they try to rebel or buck the system, it doesn't solve anything. Loving Henry because Horta or us just don't get it isn't going to change anything. It's silly to think they are going to fight us and persevere when Horta is the one holding the pen in his hand... It just bugs me that they act like they are the noble ship or something. That they are the correct fans and everyone else is just mindless followers. But, as Angel is probably saying to herself right now, it's because they are nutjobs. And there are only about 5-10 of them left, so really, we might as well pity them more than anything. | #45 Jun 17th 2008, 4:14pm

angelgrl0284Yeah, but I just realized Freddy might not smile if Elsie is standing there with a pissed off look on her face. And if I try to tickle him to get him to smile I might find myself behind bars! But I’d love to tickle him though… Good point. But once your husband bailed you out, you'd have that smile in your memory forever and you would have tickled Freddy Rodriguez. But you know, if he doesn't send fans off to jail for biting him, I'm sure he wouldn't for a simple tickle. And might I suggest, if you go for the tickle, that you try to sneak in a hug. | #46 Jun 17th 2008, 4:16pm

|
angelgrl0284Purple and Wooster, you are both right. Every story (good story, that is) is kind of a manipulation of sorts. The script is written with intention to make the viewers feel certain things. That is manipulation in a sense, but it's the type of manipulation you need in order to keep people interested and envoke emotions from them. And, like you guys said, it's not just Gio they are doing it with. They do it with every character, every story arch (including Henry... which still bugs be that she and other Benries can't see that). So calling me a sheep or implying that I am one for responding to a show how the writers want me to is just plain absurd. In short, Wooster, you are right, I'm saying they are nutjobs! ;) | #47 Jun 17th 2008, 4:29pm

Hmmm…something to think about…. I’m off for a few moments. Angelgrl, I replied again to the IMDb post we’re talking about. You might want to take a look since it’s for both of us. amie30Oh man all this talk about stalking FR and I found this blog post about the Bottle Shock screening at SIFF: After the movie and Q&A session we all headed down the street to the Pan Pacific Hotel at the 2200 block of Westlake for the beloved Closing Night Gala Afterparty with free flowing champagne, drink tickets for the bar, excellent food and a couple movie stars-we may have stalked Freddy Rodriguez and the Editor on Dream Boy.
