Flowerbud noticed Sugarpaw speed past her and sighed, quickening her pace. She caught up and started to pad next to Shadowfire, not noticing his smug look.

Shadowfire noticed Flowerbud suddenly trotting next to him. "Oh," he said. "Hi."

"Hey," she muttered. More silence passed before Flowerbud asked, "Your apprentice is some kind of crazy, huh?"

"No doubt about it," Shadowfire replied slowly.

Flowerbud sighed. "Is there any chance that I can take her for a day...?" And kill her?

Shadowfire gave a momentary smile, which wasn't something that you saw often. Hold your tail, Shadowfire. What're you doing?

Flowerbud blinked at him. That's rare. He smiled.

Shoot. I just ruined my reputation. I bet that piece of information's going to come out as blackmail. Shadowfire mentally cursed himself. Stupid conscience.

Flowerbud looked at him curiously. "Your face is twisted in annoyance at something..."

Shadowfire blinked in surprise. "Um..." Then he frowned. "The curiosity got to me."

"Oh..." Flowerbud turned her head back forward, only to see the Sugarpaw was no where in sight.

Shadowfire blinked slowly and sighed. He raised his head and sniffed the air. He angled his ears towards the left. He could hear the faint trickle of water. He frowned. He'd been here numerous times before, and yet he'd never heard it before.

Suparpaw panted heavily. She'd lost Firepaw, but she could tell that she was not far off Firepaw's track. She glanced behind her for the umpteenth time to check if either Shadowfire or Flowerbud was chasing her.

"Something catch your ear?" Flowerbud questioned quietly; she wouldn't know if it was a thick-coated mouse. She perked her ears up and in the same direction.

Firepaw's laughter died down as she padded along; she had decided to spend this time hunting as this could be the last moments of her life.

Shadowfire shrugged and slowly padded forward...
