"Oh, Sasa, it's okay....Do you want me to get Gaara?" Temari asked, pulling Sasate up. She glared at the villagers. "Stop staring!" Temari led Sasate down the street.

Gaara, meanwhile, had barricaded himself in his office, holding the doors closed with his sand. Inside he was taking out his anger on the poor furniture.

Ronin let Kendo guide him through the streets, though he had a sinking feeling that he was going to be very, very lost by the time this was over...

"Wow, don't you people have lives?"

"No, Fire, we don't have lives! At least, I don't..."

Temari knocked on it. "Gaara, open up...." she waited. She blew a hair out of her face and hit the door with her fan. "Open up, God damn it! I have someone here who's very upset ad could need you!" ...silence... "I'll give you a hint! You fought her older brother in your first Chunin Exam!"

Sasate, meanwhile, was standing beside Temari and sobbing and sniffling.

The door was thrown open within a few seconds, and Gaara immediately pulled her into a hug.

"Sasate! I am so, so sorry!"

She sniffled and buried her head in his robes.

Temari looked at them. "Wait, then who made Sasate cry.....Gaara-otouto, are you the one who made her cry!?"

Remember what I said about keeping characters in character? It's no fun when they're themselves, unless the character is Uzumaki Naruto....

Naruto: *has pots fall on him*

Gaara rested his head against Sasate's, looking guilty. He gently rubbed her back.

Eventually, Kendo gave up and brought him back to the clinic.

"Good luck, kid."

Temari scowled. "Stop being a baka," she said. "And try to be more sensitive." And, with that, Temari left.

Sasate sniffled, feeling just as bit as guilty for running.

Gaara kissed the top of her head, then looked down at her, brushing her hair out of her face again.

"I am sorry...I should've asked you about it..."

Her wolf ears, which had been hiding under her hair, popped out. "S'ok." she mumbled, her ears laying back. She obscured her head in his chest again. "I forgive you."

He hugged her tightly, smiling.

"Thank you."

Suddenly, there was clapping, and Gaara stiffened, still holding onto Sasate.

Saste moved her head around enough to look to see who it was.

Ronin was standing there, an eyebrow raised. He did not look happy.

Ronin shrugged.

"Gee, maybe I might be at least a little upset that you left me in the middle of nowhere with a head injury?" He said, not sounding particularily pleased with her.

Gaara frowned at Ronin, before remembering that Ronin couldn't see it.

"Get out of my office and stop bothering Sasate." He ordered him.

Ronin crossed his arms, looking somewhat stubborn.

"Guys, stop it. I'm sorry, I was upset." she said. "I forgot that you needed my help."

Yeah, three would've left and I would've said "Oh well, let's go find a new RP!". And I would've been gone by the time Kashi was here.

I say that we have to be some of the most dedicated RPers on fanfiction...

Gaara still frowned.

"It's not your fault he was assigned to your squad, Sasate. You don't have to help him everywhere."

Ronin glared. "Hey! I am a qualified shinobi of Konoha, not some pet Sasate got shoved off on her!"

Gaara raised an eyebrow, drawn into the argument.

"Oh? Apparently, they'll let anyone be a shinobi these days."

Ronin flushed angrily.

"Well, at least I don't run around destroying things and making my girlfriend cry!"

Gaara started to become angrier.

That would be so awkard...

"Will you guys stop it!? You're not helping," she told gaara. "And you're not making the situation better either, Ronin." she said in reply to the smirk that crept across his face. It was gone in a second. "One, I chose to help him. Two, he's not a pet, he's a comrade. Thre, they don't let anyone be a shinobi. Four, would you two STOP IT, GOD DAMMIT!"

Gaara looked down.

"Sorry, Sasate..."

Ronin crossed his arms.

"I'm not. I didn't say anything that wasn't true."

Gaara stopped being contrite.

"Oh, I'm sorry. You think that because you're blind you've got to prove something? Well, let me tell you this: No one will not use your handicap to their advantage, and you will die young and still a genin. And do you know what you're going to prove by that? That someone like you should never slip through the system again!" The older boy glared down at Ronin.

Bye!!

"That is it!" Sasate yelled. "I've had it! Good-bye!"

Sh pushed past both boys and walked out the door. "I'm going home!"

Temari stepped in through the door and, as Sasate passed her, said, "Sit down. Both of you."

Sasate kept walking through the streets. She passed Tito and didn't even bother to bash his head in. She walked right out the Suna gate without anyone even noticing, except the guards, who wrote down her name to put on their progress reports.

She just kept walking and walking and walking.

Ok, nighty night~

Ronin was fuming. He glared in Temari's direction.

"I don't have to take orders from you, I'm not Suna." He walked out the door, into the hallway. He felt like killing someone...

As Sasate walked, Higeki suddenly appeared beside her, walking along with her, though his phantom feet left no footprints.

"What has you so upset?"

"Men," she spat.

Sasate didn't even know why she was walking. There's no way she could make it to Konoha before the sun set, without supplies or energy. She sat down on the cooling sand. She was terribly tired.

Temari turned on Gaara instead. "You wanna know what upset Sasate? Think about it. If you said that to my teammate—if they weren't you and Kankurou—how do you think I'd feel? I'd feel real bad and I wouldn't be able to defend him without upsetting you! How do you think she feels? She's trying to balance it out, and you're being so overprotective that you're going to stop letting her have a life!

If you'd stop being so stupid, you'd see how bad she really feels. How's she supposed to help her teammate if you're breathing down her neck!?" she was yelling now. "I've watched that kid in the academy in Konoha when I helped out shadow boy and he's excellent for his age and status! He's got more talent than you know! The only reason she's helping him is because he can't function without vibrations. You can't feel vibrations through sand, Gaara! She's just trying to be a good person!"

Aw, I'm sad now....no one's around....

Higeki shrugged, and sat down next to her.

"You should probably head back before the sun sets, it's really dangerous to wander the desert alone at night. And I can't have you dying if I'm ever going to do my penance."

Gaara frowned and looked down.

"I wasn't breathing down her neck...and how was I supposed to know? She never really talked about him much..." He hung his head in defeat.

"What should I do?"

Ronin, meanwhile, had gotten himself lost again.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid..." He muttered to himself. He could feel that it was getting darker, and there were less people out. He pounded a wall with his fist in frustration. "What were you thinking? Yeah, you're mister tough guy, all right. You can't even find your way back to the infirmary..." He said to himself.

Sasate sighed. "Must I?"

Temari shook her head. "Apoligize to Ronin, then apoligize to Sasate. Try to get along with him. He's hr friend, after all. It's okay, otouto-kun," she said, smiling and patting his arm. "You've never had enough of a relationship to know."

"Oi, Ronin," Zoku said from behind. "What are you doing out here?" Zoku's eyes flashed gold, indicating that he had read Ronin's mind, then he answered his own question. "You can't find the infirmary."
