Ada AdoreTopic: Darkside Chronicles announced! SPOILERS within
Capcom have just announced a sequel to the Umbrella Chronicles set during the events of Resident Evil 2! No exact release dates have come up (though some articles say it'll be out in the Winter, which sounds about right to me). It is a Wii exclusive and a first person rail shooter type game as the Umbrella Chronicles was. It'll summarise the story of RE2 and will star Leon and Claire. It's a two player co-op apparently. If Ada isn't in this I think I'll be so suprised that I'll throw up. I'm a little gobsmacked at the moment because I've always wanted a RE2 remake. However I don't have nor intend to buy a Wii and I would have prefered a 1:1 remake in the same style as the RE1 remake on the Gamecube. Either way, after what happened with Degeneration I won't bother to get excited. All I'm going to hope for is a good game that'll give us a current-gen upgrade of some great original RE2 moments. It is my favourite RE after all! :3 Here are some pics and articles: http://blog.wired.com/games/2009/03/capcom-announce.html http://kotaku.com/5168749/capcom-brings-the-darkside-chronicles-resident-evil-classics-to-the-wii Great pics! Leon is looking a little better here compared to the Degen model I must admit. His hair even looks lighter, but it could just be the lighting and of course character models are subject to revision until the final version is released. Also his costume from behind looks like the RPD outfit from RE4 so I hope that model is their basis. And a TRAILER!: http://blog.wired.com/games/2009/03/darkside-traile.html | #1 Mar 14th, 5:24am . Donatien Valiarde:DDDD Thanks for sharing - I had /no/ idea until you posted this (shows how up-to-date on the world of RE I am). Leon is actually regaining his cuteness! :3 And can I just say something I've always said when discussing potential RE2 remakes? - I REALLY want to see Leon and Ada's kiss with lovely graphics. PLEASE CAPCOM, HEAR ME OUT. |

Cloner4000.....Leon and Claire together fighting? I could swear that they aren't together for more than an hours thorughout the whole games.... Its seems like improved version of umbrella chronicle, but if its just going to be about RE2, they better makes it a lot longers...or shows us more Ada!!! |
Holly1818of cource I agree with all of you!! And I'm hoping that in later updates they will show us Leon and Ada in many of their scenarios from RE2 because after all that is CANNON CAPCOM!! But I also have this dark feeling because for some reason Capcom lately have been dissapointing me when it comes to Leon and Ada, that they will take this game in a totally new direction and say claire and leon fought side by side the entire game which is totally false and NOT-CANNON!! Does anyone else feel this way? please anyone else? |

Ada AdoreI found out about this by chance- I saw a news update on the game section of teletext here in the UK and my eyeballs almost popped out of my head o_o You're not alone Holly to be honest. If I was to pick out my favourite things about RE2 it would have to be: 1. The exploration and scavenger hunt style game play 2. The tension and horror 3. The start and development of Leon and Ada's relationship 4. The sliding-doors style storyline with Leon and Claire that separates them into different scenarios depending on which way their car hits that post and then reunites them in the end. From what little I've seen it seems as though this game may completely remove or downplay these things. However, we should try to take this game for no more or less than what it is- a quick money maker for Capcom taking advantage of Leon, Claire and RE2's popularity. Actually one of the complaints I heard most about Degeneration is that some people wanted to see Leon and Claire together more, which due to the huge Cleon fandom isn't a surprise. I don't think this will be the kind of remake I and some others I know wanted- i.e. a 1:1 remake of the whole game. To be honest it looks like a quick, if rather lazy, game using RE2 as a basis for a shooter. I would be disappointed if it keeps Leon and Claire together the whole time but I doubt this game is supposed to replace or rewrite the events of RE2. I think the idea of canon is very fluid to Capcom, or else it doesn't matter to them as much as it does to some hardcore fans. Have I made you feel better? Probably not. :3 As for me my expectations are as low as just hoping that Leon looks hot in the final product :D |
Donatien Valiarde...You're probably right on all counts. x.x I always hate that my immediate reaction is to hope for the best, and then I realize that my hopes always end up being irrational. Capcom really has been a huge disappointment lately. And not just because of the lack of Leon/Ada - I'm a shallow fan, sure, but I also don't like what Capcom has been doing with the series lately. I thought that Umbrella Chronicles was poorly done...A decent idea in theory, but it wasn't executed very well. Degeneration was atrocious. And now we're looking at another quickly thrown-together game to make some more money. Granted, I haven't played RE5 yet so I really don't have any room to speak as far as that goes. But my point is that I'm a bit disappointed that they aren't putting more thought and effort into their latest creations. |
Ada AdoreI know what you mean. Sometimes I wonder if I expect too much and I try to be realistic in my desires for a franchise. After all it's a very hard job to pull off and fandoms are often so rabid and divided that it's impossible to satisfy everyone. However, when I come on this site and read fanfic (both general and ship-based) that excels so far above even the best of Capcom that's when I get a little annoyed. Even as a shipper I'd accept no Leon/Ada as long as the alternative was well written and I could tell that thought, effort and skill had been put into the execution. I've become a big fan of of the show Supernatural over the past six months and it's not just because Jensen Ackles is gorgeous and has heart-melting acting skills. It's because the show's creators approach the show with on the whole with enthusiasm, integrity and respect. I haven't agreed with all of their story choices but I can tell how hard the cast and crew work and the show, at its best, oozes high quality without being pretentious or too 'up itself'. *Sigh* I really hope Darkside isn't an illustration of the old saying 'taking the path of least resistance'. And on that note here's a quick developer interview. He doesn't reveal much but incase you've got a few minutes to kill: http://uk.wii.ign.com/dor/objects/14328873/resident-evil-the-darkside-chronicles/videos/resident_darkside_inv_031309.html |

Dragonthunder89Okay first of all I enjoy your writing of Leon/Ada I wish mine could be half as good. Now, I can't understand why Capcom does some of the things they do. For example, Degeneration as the movie progressed, I grew agitated as they entertained the idea of Leon/Angela. Why? Because one of my favorite lines in Resident Evil 4 comes from Leon. "She's like a part of me I can't let go, let's just leave it at that" That is in reference to Ada, so why entertain that idea? I guess I don't get it. Maybe I'm just dumb lol. |
Tragic ChristmasFrom what I've read, they hired actual professional models for Leon's face but used a different one for all three incarnations (RE2, RE4, RE:D). It's a shame that Capcom couldn't keep it consistent. At least the RE:DC model doesn't seem to be THAT hideous compared to his movie counterpart. He looks more like a mix of RE4 and RE:D Leon. In terms of Ada's involvement: if this game is going to live up to its name as a true sequel, then there's no reason to exclude her. After all, she had her own scenario in RE:UC and her relationship with Leon in RE2 was integral to both the plot and their individual character development. Why ignore that all of a sudden along with the fact that Leon and Claire were separated for the most part? I'd also love to see at least some nod towards Sherry's well-being. Girl must be dealing with some serious abandonment issues after all these years, considering Claire's promise. And this is a little off-topic, Ada Adore, but I love the fact that you're also into Smallville and Supernatural. My other half is a fan of Clark/Chloe (but also Leon/Ada, he accepts no substitutes XD), even though he's usually a big comic book junkie. I think Erica Durance does a good job of expressing the ol' Lois Lane sass and as much as I think the classic duo has potential, I don't think there has been enough in terms of real romantic progression. It was annoying to see her paired up with a long line of guys (Aquaman, Oliver, Julian, etc.) with no consideration for the grand scheme of things. So yes, I saw lots of excellent parallels in your post in the forum updates thread. The part about Claire/Leon being like incest really made me LOL, especially since I always joked that Claire had a brother complex, always chasing after Chris and all. I even enjoy alternative ships like Ada/Wesker, but it really does get tiring when canon and continuity are ignored to make a quick buck. It'd be like suddenly announcing "CHRIS LOVES SHEVA" or "JILL LOVES CARLOS" when really, the Chris/Jill partnership have a lot more history together and that mutual desire to be reunited (issues with the game aside, there's quite a bit of added subtext in RE5). |
Holly1818I agree... I am also a Smallville fan and I feel like the canon should be Lois/Clark, and that is one of a few reasons why I ship them, but I also see the Lana/Clark relationship and I think to myself why did the writers make their relationship so profound it seems to be 10x better of a story than Clois', like Lana's final episode with Clark it was so epic and tragic, it reminded me of L/A's relationship and it makes Clois look like a joke its like how can Clark ever move on and move on so quick?....anyway long story short they put wayyy too much emphasis on that relationship and now the Clois one just doesn't seem to stack up you know?....okay all Smallville aside, I found this on THIA.... "According to GameInformer's May 2009 preview of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, the game will focus on retelling Resident Evil 2 and CODE: Veronica, but will also have a new chapter featuring Leon in South America. The game still has no solid release date, but it seems the game may have online multiplayer. " Thanks to King Zell at NeoGAF who got the information from the IGN Boards. www.the-horror.com news page. I have this baddddd feeling about the game.....After UC, which don't get me wrong, i enjoyed but it still could have been a little better and the movie and the way Capcom seems to be going with the RE characters, Leon's character in particular, you can see where I'm coming from right? anyway yeah I fear the worst for Ada's character right now and its not because i've heard anything bad its just come on!!! you've seen the crap that Capcom is doing lately. I fear Capcom will either make Ada out to be evil, not include her in any way in the game after the RE2 scenarios,or retcon Ada completely or maybe a combination of the 2. the least likely being retconing Ada IMO. I thought I knew Capcom but obviously I don't know anymore, I'll just have to wait for more news. I will be getting the RE:0 and RE:1 pack for Wii tho because I don't have them. Lmao I know, I know I should have bought those games a long time ago but I was too young ha ha. |
Tragic ChristmasIt does seem like Capcom is trying capitalize on Leon as THE Uber Tough Action Hero of All Time after the success of RE4, rather than maintaining his character as Leon, the former rookie cop with a corny charm and a heart of gold. Despite the hordes of fans who ** and moaned about how RE4 wasn't a "real" RE game, Leon did gain a large following thanks to the sweet graphics, improved gameplay, updated costumes, and signature fighting moves (too bad a lot of the same fans bleated on about Ada being changed too drastically, but that's for another day). But even with the changes, there wasn't a severe disconnect between RE2 and RE4 Leon in terms of his emotional responses and the way he was involved with other characters. Naturally, I loved the tragically brief friendship he had with Luis. Now that they've set the "formula" for moneymaking, there's no consistency in terms of his social interactions and reflections on any of his past endeavors or relationships. I suppose we COULD hope on a theory where an absense of Ada has made him colder and given him the personality of a half-eaten raisin in RE:D, but I think a lot of us are jaded and cynical at this point. I dug up this old interview from back when RE4 first came out, in case some folks haven't heard of it. Looking back, it's surprising to see how the producer seemed so excited to include Ada as someone who was meant to make a grand entrance from behind the scenes and contribute key elements to the plot (so much for "OMG, WHY IS ADA ALL FLASHY AND ** SHE IS A BAD SPY"), rather than relegating her to a secondary character again or a far-off love interest. I would imagine that the bolded at the end is like a holy grail for us Ada fans. XD http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3143526&p=2 Points of interest: "We focused on her because she is a beautiful, vibrant and mysterious character. It wouldn't have been possible to realize the true brilliance of Ada in action, wearing that red Chinese dress of hers, if we focused on [other peripheral characters such as] Luis and Ashley," says producer Masachika Kawata. "Initially we had some plans to create side quests based on Luis or Ashley, but for various reasons, they were never carried out." As it turns out, Ada's costume was a significant part of the design process. When players took control of her in the GameCube Assignment Ada bonus quest, her outfit was restricted to more of a military look, due to the difficulty of being able to replicate her dress on the screen. But now, Kawata's favorite part of the PS2 version "is seeing Ada in action in her Chinese dress," he says. "In the GameCube version, the costume couldn't be seen in action as a playable feature because we thought it would be difficult to detail. However, I was extremely eager to make it happen because the style is so beautiful. I am very happy with the results our staff was able to produce." While there will be new areas to explore, the focus of Separate Ways is to tell a side story. "The main goal was definitely to develop and unfold a story that featured a main character, Ada," says Kawata. "It was very important to show the viewpoint of this mysterious character, who knows even more information than the player does. I think that people's curiosity about Ada will be peaked even further by playing Separate Ways." Plus, what does the future hold for Kawata and the rest of the team? When asked about a game starring Ada, Kawata notes, "I have not thought about it yet, but if we receive enough feedback we might consider it." | #12 Apr 14th, 11:46pm . Edited Apr 14th, 11:49pm

Ada AdoreA small tidbit of DSC news: http://www.rehorror.net/v20/ According to a preview of the May 2009 issue of GameInformer, some new information concerning Resident Evil: DarkSide Chronicles has been revealed: "While the main focus of the game is on retelling the events encapsulated by Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil: CODE Veronica, you'll also play through brand new shenanigans staring Leon Kennedy in South America, adding yet another twist to the legendary RE narrative." --- Code Veronica? Since when? Interesting, if true. I did like RE:CV. It was my first Resident Evil game. And Leon in South America? Sounds potentially fun, but then again most of these things do at first. It's the execution that Capcom tends to fail with these days. Still no news on Ada. It'd be a despicable shame if she isn't in this. |
Holly1818http://www.the-horror.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4890 Well at least we know that Ada is in the game lol......WTF though I mean Claire, Leon, Ada, And Sherry, all in the SAME ROOM? and ESCAPING TOGETHER? WTF? that NEVER happened!! oh my goodness....I have mixed feelings right now, wow!.....I'm happy that Ada is at least included in the game and is in the same room with Leon but with Sherry and Claire there too....It just ruined it for me lol....I must say though that pic with Ada and Leon side by side made me smile for the first time in a long time at anything RE lately. |
Donatien ValiardeWell, I'm relieved that we at least have the guarantee of Ada...Now if only we could get a further guarantee that they're not going to totally screw up the series canon by neglecting Leon and Ada's relationship. I do think that it's really, really strange that all four of them are escaping together - Why, Capcom? That just contradicts RE2, and sort of removes the horror element AGAIN (they seem to have a knack for that lately). I guess I won't mind it as much if Leon and Ada still have their relationship and still get some moments together...Without Claire and Sherry there. At the very least, Capcom has remembered that Ada actually exists. |
Cloner4000ah...the image are pretty blurry, but it looks like Ada is going to be pretty similar to the RE4 and UC model..Sherry..I don't know, she look a bit like a boy to me..haha.. |
Ada AdoreHurrah! POA: Proof of Ada! :D And I must say she is looking as beautiful as always. I'm glad Capcom are either too wise or too lazy to mess about with her character model. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Not sure how I feel about having all the characters together like that. Maybe it'll only happen for very short segments of the story and most of it will be them getting separated and bumping into each other in various ways, such as in the original game when Ada sees Sherry drop her locket or when Claire finds Leon wounded in the sewers. I don't mind them changing around the story, just as long as the end result makes the best use of the location and the potential for horror. Funny you said that Cloner4000, because before I bought RE2 and before I knew the storyline, I watched a few clips of it on youtube and when I saw Sherry during an FMV sequence I thought she was a boy. And I still can't get over that sailor's suit she wears. She's supposed to be twelve. I wouldn't have worn something like that at that age unless it was at a costume party. I mean, by age twelve most girls have hit puberty. I always thought Sherry looked closer to nine or ten. But I suppose her youthfullness is an outward representation of how little attention and company she had growing up. Having the Birkins as parents couldn't have been easy. Anyway, she's still adorable. I loooove the pic of her standing behind Leon and him being all protective of her. Reminds me of the end of LeonB when he find Sherry and takes her to the train. Aww. :3 On that note, I wonder how Ada's story will end? LeonA ending, LeonB ending or something new...LeonC perhaps? UC showed Leon over Ada's 'dead' body so that suggests it could either be LeonB or something similar. Then again that assumes that Capcom wil be going for continuity and well.....we all know that may not necessarily happen for whatever reason. UC never answered how Ada managed to survive her injuries and bandage herself up. Perhaps DSC will show us. As for the Leon/Ada romance quotent in DSC, I hope there is as much as was in the original game at least as well as some of the classic dialogue such as Leon's 'reckless and stupid' tantrum and Ada's 'I don't want to lose you.' I'd forgive Capcom for the poor quality of Degeneration's storyline if they did that. Not that Capcom give a damn about me of course, but it'd be nice to see a bit of quality or genuine emotion injected back into these characters. | #17 Apr 23rd, 4:44am . Edited Apr 23rd, 4:55am

Holly1818http://www.biohaze.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=3852 here are the hi res pics and text translation....it seems from the scans that they will meet up all together possibly for a while and then split up again, because looking at some of the pics I tried to see if I could see an aimer thing whatever you wanna call it, and I can see it in some of them but not all of them so the first pic looks to be Ada, Claire and probably Leon judging from the nice look she seems to be giving lol but really you can't play as Ada or Sherry so it has to be Leon...and the 2nd looks to be Leon and Claire because they are the only 2 characters playable. 3. looks to be Claire and Leon again. 4. Leon kicking some Zombie ** and Claire is just watchin 5. it looks to only be Leon and Ada cuz I don't see an aimer so...I'm hoping so...6. Ada and Claire together...that's messed up lol 7. hopefully another just Ada and Leon :D. And yall can figure out the rest lol...So yeah there's supposed to be the scenario of Sherry meeting Leon first instead of Claire, it seems to be confirmed in the translation of the mag. Someone suggested that they might be doing a whole Sherry meets Leon first, Ada meets Claire first thing. Although this would be interesting, its just too weird and not right lol srsly though.... I think they might go with the scenario of Leon and Claire not getting separated in the truck scene and them getting out on the same side, go to the RPD, and then they meet up with Sherry early and Ada later or vice versa and then they end up splitting up and its just like the classical L/A and C/S scenarios. I wouldn't mind that plot so much, It's not too bad actually. | #18 Apr 23rd, 12:26pm . Edited Apr 23rd, 12:37pm

Holly1818OMG Leon looks sooo cute in the site pic omg omg.....anyway here's the DSC website: http://www.capcom.co.jp/bio_dc/en.html I'm lovin the music too.... This is from the blog that can be found on the website: "When I think back on Resident Evil 2, I see a game that had a lot of remarkable elements. It expanded the scope of the game from the fear found in a haunted house to the terror of being in a city overrun and on the brink of total destruction. The various supporting characters really start to fill out the universe; we meet the sexy and mysterious Ada, the young Sherry, and Brian the twisted police chief. I think Brian’s madness is really the scariest thing in that game! Ada and Leon’s love story is woven into this robust background which makes for a rich game experience with a scale far surpassing the first game. In that sense Resident Evil 2 made Resident Evil much bigger while at the same time being more intimate. While in most other Resident Evil games the characters must escape from a biohazard and then face down elements of Umbrella, Resident Evil 2 tells the story of individual battles characters go through when they are caught in a desperate and dangerous situation. These are the stories that would fall through the cracks when the history of the Umbrella Corporation is writ large: The bonds between Leon and Ada, between Claire and Sherry. The story of the collapse of the Birkin Family. These relatively insignificant stories make Resident Evil 2 an unforgettable game. We focused on these intimate stories of love and family in The Darkside Chronicles. Tragic romance, the destruction of a happy family..." Its sounding a lot better to me now...Finaly someone who actually recognizes Leon and Ada'a LOVE!!!...I am getting more excited about this game peeps. |

LoupieThis is the most exciting news in respect to Leon and Ada for a long time. I hope they do a good job of it. I'm wondering if the Leon in South America segment if been misreported. It doesn't make much sense that it should be set pre-RE2. Maybe it's post-RE2, or even post-RE4. It'd be great if it was set at the same time as RE5--that'll allow Wii owners to exclusively catch up with Leon's end of the story, which makes, I suppose, RE5's exclusivity easier to swallow for those inclined to buy it. |
Holly1818welcome Loupie!! I have some more good news that I think everyone would enjoy: http://www.digitalgamestv.fr/video-23140-digitaltv.html It's a NEW TRAILER!!! Leon and Ada!!! Woot Woot!! The voices do sound like the right VA, I thought Claire, Leon and Ada sounded like Paul Mer, Allyson cour, and sally cah but then I listen to it more and I'm just not sure anymore. I dunno...anyone else? and is it just me or does Ada have GIANT shoulders in this? lol seriously though. | #21 Apr 28th, 7:22am . Edited Apr 28th, 7:23am

Cloner4000huh...that's really good news indeed...at least we know that there is ada and it branches off at some points... I think the voice for Ada is a bit different myself..but she really doesn't have too much lines and it could just be my momeory.. |
Holly1818I knew it!! http://www.gamespot.com/events/capcom09/story.html?sid=6208703&tag=newslist;title;5 "One nice bit for fans is that the team actively sought out the original voice actors to voice the characters and was able to get the voice actors for Leon, Claire, and Ada. Unfortunately, the actress used for Sherry Birkin no longer sounded like the character, so another voice actress was used." Nice!! They actually took some time and effort into finding the original Voice actors..OMG!! This game might be really good after all....I wonder what got into Capcom eh? |
Ada AdoreThis all sounds so interesting. I'm glad the team behind it seem to have been putting in so much effort to stick to some of the qualities and themes of the original game. And I'm also really REALLY happy that Leon and Ada's relationship has been referred to so early and on the official blog no less. It almost makes me sad that I don't have a Wii. Almost. :3 |
LoupieThanks for the welcome Holly1818! Appreciated! All very encouraging news. The new trailer makes the game look pretty interesting. It was a long time ago I tried RE2 and I never played it through (didn't like that feeling of helplessness in the old games...) so Claire's voice was a revelation to me. Not bashing, but I'm expecting to feel as much love for her chattering as I did Ashley's. Anyway... Back on topic, I liked how Leon's (Paul's) voice softened to a tender tone when he asks Ada, "Are you alright?" (And I agree, she sounds a little different in the snippet from the trailer.) Random rant: If they're using Ada's model from RE4, why didn't they just keep Leon's? Nothing wrong with this version but I think of Leon as the guy in RE4. I can't be the only one who associates the character with that version of him (and I *know* I'm not the only one who misses that face) Likeness rights? |
Holly1818no problem Loupie, just call me Holly :) I agree Leon's RE4 model was hawtness!!! |

Ada AdoreNew Darkside trailers have been released since E3 including some clips of the gameplay: http://www.gametrailers.com/game/resident-evil-the-darkside/10971 Plus there are some new pics of Claire's Code Veronica levels: http://videogamerx.gamedonga.co.kr/zbxe/1212149#0 Enjoy! :3 |

Ada AdoreOh this is just priceless! Biohaze.com has revealed that Capcom have started Twitter accounts for Leon and Claire in the lead up to The Darkside Chronicles. http://www.biohaze.com/ Here's Leon's account: http://twitter.com/leon_darkside And Claire's: http://twitter.com/claire_darkside There's barely anything on there and they're looking pretty pathetic at the moment. But in the future there will apparently be some interesting stuff and 'exclusive info'. I'd give an automatic bonus if at some point 'Leon' posts a smooshy love poem about Ada or at least reveals what his natural hair colour is. |
Ark NavyI vowed to never use Twitter... but... following a Leon Twitter??? Oh sweet temptation... anyone else gonna follow? My convictions are weak on their own... XD |
Ark NavyThat sounds just like... I don't even know. XD I've vowed to stay away from Twitter, butbutbut... a Leon Twitter? That's different. That's different, right? ...Are you gonna follow it, or is anyone else? My convictions are weak on their own... XD |
Funcokler XerowI'll be honest, Ark (may I call you Ark?); I probably won't follow either of them because whatever info does get released will almost certainly find its way to other fansites and such. Plus, I just don't want to get into the whole Twitter thing either. Guess I should amend that; I subscribed to the RSS on Leon's Twitter. I guess that's kinda like following, without actually following. Or something. | #31 Aug 09th, 10:29am . Edited Aug 11th, 11:07pm

Ada Adore*New Darkside Chronicles Trailer* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W7_oD334rM It's not gameplay footage- it's only fragments of cutscenes. Plus Points: We get to see Leon with his injured shoulder (brings back great memories for me :3) Claire/Steve gets plenty of references including Steve checking out Claire's rather round behind and the two of them touching hands and getting cosy. Sherry actually looks like a 12 year old this time We get looks at Annette Burkin and Chief Irons, plus a shot of Chris Redfield at the end and I'd totally forgotten he's in CVX too! With Sherry in the security office in the Lab it makes me think that we might be getting an ending for Ada that is close to the LeonB scenario. Steve's voice acting is better than it was in the original. Slight minus points: Leon isn't in the trailer as much as he could be. Having Leon behind Claire and Sherry seems a bit wierd to me and IMO makes Claire and Sherry's moments a little less special (but I guess that's down to it being a 2 player co-op game) Leon's character model isn't as hot as his RE4 counterpart (but I think it beats Degen-Leon so at least it's an improvement) Major minus point: There is no Ada in this trailer. :( |

Ada AdoreSome serious possible spoilers are below! If you’re avoiding knowing what levels and characters may be in this game then please don’t read this post! Way back in May someone on Gamespot posted what may in fact be a list of the levels in the game. Not sure if it’s genuine or all of it has confirmed. But it’s worth a look even as speculation: http://uk.gamespot.com/wii/action/biohazardthedarksidechronicles/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-49496674&pid=958780 According to this as well as levels from RE2 and RECVX, we’ll also get a chapter showing what Leon was up to while Claire was on Rockfort Island, during Leon’s South American level he’ll be partnered with Jack Krauser (I’ve always wanted to know more about their relationship!), there’ll be a chapter for Ada set before the events of RE4, a chapter with Chris and Jill and a chapter where we’ll play as a grown up Sherry :3 Has anyone seen this too or know if it’s corroborated anywhere else? I know that Krauser artwork has been released so that part has some weight to it. If this is genuine then I think DSC could add a few new layers to the characters we know and love. |

KahokoI really hope that what your link shows will be in the game Ada Adore, but I'm losing hope... The Leon/Claire thing is seriously bugging me! Honestly, how can we hope for Ada/Leon scenes if there is another female in the room with them T_T ? I beg for, at least, a very awesome remake of LeonB's kiss *_* New prologue ^_^ There IS a little Ada in this one! (too little, unfortunatly...) http://www.gametrailers.com/video/japanese-prologue-resident-evil/56293 I don't think Ada'll be a playable character either... One good point: for what I heard, Sally Cahill WILL take Ada's voice back *so happy* (Hum this is my first post in the forum, moreover I am French and kinda suck at english so... Please bear with me ^_^ Happy to join you guys!) |

DiorelliHello everyone :) Brought goodies from the Darkside Chronicles game. It's a bit spoilerific, so you've been warned. :P Here is more about the new scenario which is Operation: Javier which features Leon & Krauser. They're sent to South America to investigate disapperances of young girls as well as the involvement of Javier, a drug lord. What I like is that Leon looks more RE4 here than Degeneration. No more perma-frown (yay!). I don't think he'll have a lot of oneliners though, I doubt Krauser will let him get away with it. haha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm9EKWYjQdE Another trailer, not the best quality though. I *think* I see Wesker. Most interesting for me is Leon in his RE2 uniform in an interrogation like chamber. I always wanted to know how Leon transitions from rookie cop to US super secret agent par excellance lol. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKBHbQ_v5zM&feature=player_embedded#movie_player Regarding Ada, I'm losing my hope that she'll have a huge part in this :/. They seem to be focusing more on Leon and Claire. Does anyone know if she's actually playable? I know Chris is in here too and most probably playable in the second half of CV but like Ada, he'll take a backseat. That doesn't bother me though, I don't care much for him but I'm sad for Ada. |
KahokoIt IS Wesker! Thank you so much for the links! But what the hell is he doing here?!? Did capcom choose to alter importants things? He was supposed to be at least a little battered. Moreover, he wasn't looking at Chis when he was leaving in Code Veronica... It kind of scare me. Like in this trailer http://www.gametrailers.com/video/japan-expo-resident-evil/52314 In the end with Ada "in the darkness all will fall". Will they use LeonA to "end Ada's life"? That would be a great disappointement, I really want a remake kiss XD I wonder just how they'll make Wesker and Chris... Knowing that the Wii isn't as powerful as the PS3, there is no way those two'll look like their RE5 versions. The RE5 fans might not jump with joy in front of their Wii versions. What interests me the most is the scene showing a hurt Leon in his RPD uniform, (probably being interrogated by the government) just after Raccon's events. Will it relate the RE3 epilogue's events? Will we finally learn what happened to Sherry? And how did Leon learn that Ada's still alive??! Let's hope it's as good as it looks. Javier: the first thought coming to me watching the trailer was "d*mn, another kid to protect". Yes I'm not afraid to tell it out loud: I absolutely HATE having to protect a kid. Just like with Ashley, I must be the only one who was all happy when she was kidnapped by the bad guys. It's too stressful! Just like it'll be with Sherry and so with "Manuela"... Joy. I'm not so happy with Leon's look. Because HIS HAIR DOESN'T MOVE AT ALL! And it's driving me crazy. I LOVED Leon's hair in RE4. A little wind to move them and I was drooling. *sad* It makes me remember RE2 cutscenes... Well it's still better than in Degeneration... That is for sure, but I don't think it would take a lot efforts to do so! But I can't deny one thing: he is handsome ^_^ Nice hair or not! |

Ada AdoreHey Diorelli :3 Thanks for posting. I’m really looking forward to the Krauser chapter and I have to give Capcom kudos for including it. I’ve always wanted to know how Krauser went from a ‘good guy’ to a fanatic who’d happily stab Leon through the throat. Previously I’d wished that Degeneration had been set before RE4 and included Krauser in order to answer this question, but I think doing it in a game is so much better. As for Ada- to be honest I’m not going to get my hopes up regardless of the spoilers I’ve read. Even if she isn’t a big part of the game I know what she and Leon mean to each other. We’ve had plenty of her in RE4 and even a nice level in UC which revealed a lot about her. One the other hand one of the designers behind it saw fit to go on about how their tragic romance is a big part of the Darkside theme so I think they’ll throw us a bone or two. Nevertheless, the Ada-fan in me is disappointed that everyone and their mother (literally in the case of Sherry) are in the trailers but we have yet to see more than a few short shots of Ada. I also wish Ada had her own Twitter as I think that her insight is one of the most fascinating in RE (maybe second only to Wesker’s). Steve has a Twitter and frankly it’s not that interesting, especially when he’s just drooling over Claire’s firm behind. And ‘Leon’ didn’t have much to say about Ada in his Twitter- that’s disappointing too. Claire’s Twitter posted more about Ada funnily enough and ‘she’ (or rather the Capcom employee doing the posting) annoyed me a bit by implying that Leon shouldn’t have bothered taking a bullet for Ada. If these Twitters are accurate to how the characters will be portrayed in the game (and they may very well not be) then I applaud Claire’s good instincts on being suspicious of Ada. But I hope Claire isn’t giving her the evil eye every ten seconds. That’d irritate me. Or maybe Claire will be shown in the end that there is more to Ada than a mysterious woman in red (though again I don’t think the Twitter said anything to that effect). I’m also concerned about Claire lurking in the background of every Leon/Ada scene because in some trailers Leon is in the background during a Claire/Sherry moment and it looked...odd. Talk about a mood killer. As for the canon of this game- I think Capcom take a fluid approach to canon, but I’d be surprised if they use the A ending simply because the picture in Umbrella Chronicles is clearly Leon B (Ada dying in Leon’s arms). If this game is the spiritual successor of UC then a degree of consistency is expected. Fingers crossed. But to end on a positive note I’ve just watched the Operation Javier introduction and I was very happy with the symbolism. *jumps around* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GX09uKTGFuY A red butterfly lands on Leon’s shoulder. His right shoulder! The right side is traditionally (at least in the West) the side where someone’s supporter is placed (i.e. ‘my right-hand man/woman’). And with the snake and Krauser at Leon’s back it made me think of treachery and being stabbed in the back. My interpretation? That the butterfly (Ada) was appearing to warn Leon of the approaching snake (Krauser). By landing on his right shoulder it’s almost as though she’s there watching his back, which is precisely what Ada does for him multiple times in RE4. I think the intro is a symbolic prelude to Leon’s complex encounters with Ada and Krauser in Spain. *sigh* Even when Leon and Ada are apart, they’re still together :3 If the scene removed the butterfly it wouldn’t have a big effect plot-wise because Leon would still be distracted, the snake is still there and Krauser will kill it. I think this suggests that the butterfly is a symbolic element rather than just a device to move the scene along or something there to look pretty. I think it was a deliberate Ada reference and I’ll arm-wrestle anyone who says otherwise :D I did briefly think that the butterfly was there as a distraction, but Leon was deep in his internal monologue and recapping the basis of his mission. He was already distracted as the snake was sliding closer. He only snaps out of it when he sees the butterfly. So perhaps the symbolism has multiple meanings as Ada is, all at once, an enigma, a distraction and a saviour for Leon. The makers of Darkside have been pushing their theme a lot in the statements they’ve released, which suggests to me that I’m not just fishing for Leon/Ada. The designers appear to have invested a lot of thought into these themes and the symbolism used in this game. They would have had to have reviewed RE4’s storyline to make these levels. So I don’t find it unlikely that they would have decided to refer to Ada in a subtle way and to foreshadow Krauser and Leon’s fight. If I’m right about this then I’d like to compliment the developers on a job well done in this cut-scene. This alone makes me a happy bunny. Even if there is relatively slim pickings for Leon/Ada in this game (outside of the RE2 sections) then at least we have some meaningful symbolism. I don’t think we’ve been forgotten. --- Leon’s hair is fabulous in RE4. These are my favourite screen-caps showing it in action: http://www.revirus.com/Leon/Gallery/RE4/72.jpg http://www.revirus.com/Leon/Gallery/RE4/111.jpg http://www.revirus.com/Leon/Gallery/RE4/159.jpg http://www.revirus.com/Leon/Gallery/RE4/185.jpg *sigh* In Degeneration it (weirdly) looked like a wig at times. I don’t know how the animators managed that. I suppose along with his face, voice, personality and body this was yet another part of Leon that’d had all the life and sexiness sucked out of it. http://blog.softboysxp.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/snapshot20081231231132.jpg The hair's not bad in this one but Ugh. Just look at that face. That is not Leon. 100% Fail. | #37 Oct 04th, 1:01am . Edited Oct 04th, 1:23am

DiorelliCarly, I love your analogy on the symbolisms. I noticed that butterfly too the first time I saw the trailer and I was like "Could it be, could it be, could it be?!!!!" But, I thought, nah, this is Capcom. I don't expect deep, subtle and sophisticated symbolisms in the storyline LOL. However, I'm still hoping that Leon would be more fleshed out as well as Ada. I read somewhere that this game has thrice as many lines as the old games. I would really love to know how Leon knew Ada was alive and how he knew she was working for Wesker. And since they brought back Krauser, they should as well include the portion on how Krauser got to work for Wesker, so that plot hole in RE4 could be filled. |

KahokoI thought you would like to see: ***Spoiler*** http://www.gametrailers.com/video/meeting-ada-resident-evil/57547 "Meeting Ada" xD I didn't actually see the trailer, because I want to play the game first! But it might interest you ^^ (sorry for the very short post but I wanted to show the link to you before I go out!) |
sinisteredgirlI've watched the trailer, and I have only one thing to say : Ada is so damn SEXY! WOW O_O... my only drawback here is that they changed so many story points here, like Ben's super short screentime. He didn't even made it out alive in the new game! oh well. Hey guys.. I've been thinking quite a lot... you know the picture in UC where leon was Holding a dying Ada... is that scene from the LeonB Ada death, or from the scene where Ada got hit in the shoulder (I'm not sure) by Birkins, the one in the tram? please enlighten me.. Thanks :D |
Holly1818I dunno Claire's presence kind of ruins it....But whatever....I thought it wasn't Sally Cahill's voice at first it sounds differend but when she spoke more it sounded like Sally, but still diff anyone else notice this? and yes, Sinisteredgirl that scene is from LeonB ClaireA. This makes me nervous even more so now that if Ada does die in Leon's arms and have the kiss either Claire is going to make it soo awkward Or they will cut a lot of it out like they might do now judging from the Ben Bert thing where they cut out Ben even being alive when they meet him. |
KahokoAnother link full of Ada (or so they said.. I don't want to watch it yet!) http://www.gametrailers.com/video/sewer-gameplay-resident-evil/57545 I understand what you mean Holly. I can't imagine Leon and Ada kissing with Claire watching them (while rolling her eyes?). Ergh. What a turn off xD It is Sally's voice, I'm sure! In gametrailer, they don't quite believe it to be true, but her tone is the same. But I could be wrong, I only watch the trailers with her "I'm fine thank you. You saved me some bullets", but I have a pretty good memory concerning voices :D If it's different, it must be because the circumstances aren't quite the same. Moreover, she didn't really care about Leon at first xD sinisteredgirl, I think it's Ada's death in LeonB, which means Ada dieing in Leon's arms. But it's possible to think that Capcom mixed some of the scenaris, so I'm not 100% sure of it. |

RevolutionZweiJust wanted to pop on in here and give my two cents about the links provided by Kahoko...so yeah, this will contains spoilers about the stuff on the links. Believe me, I'm not trying to Claire bash or anything, but am I the only one who noted the condescending tone in her voice everytime she spoke to Ada? I think the lines that really stood out were "What is with her?" and "What about you? You know anything?". Granted, this could because she doesn't trust Ada, but...well, now that I think about it, Miss Redfield seems to be annoyed with the whole situation lol. She got really sarcastic in this one, so I could totally see her rolling her eyes at the kiss part...but yeah, I did happen to like the little part where Claire said (referring to Ada) : "You just want to impress her, don't you?" She totally nailed Leon with that one...XD Oh, and on a fanboy note, hearing Leon say "Ada, wait!" again was just too good. |
Tragic ChristmasTotally agreed about the condescension. I understand her being suspicious given the circumstances, but she sounded outright jealous in that particular clip. And that last "okay~!" made me laugh because she seemed so happy about Leon wanting to find Sherry while letting Ada "escape" on her own. I have to admit though, I love Alyson Court as a voice actress and entertainer. I just can't picture anyone else being able to project Claire's mix of a brash/caring/confrontational personality. I grew up watching her as Lunette the Clown (she's actually quite pretty without the red nose/make-up) on Canadian TV and voicing Jubilee on the old X-Men cartoons, haha. | #44 Oct 11th, 6:28pm . Holly1818lmao it's funny TragicC because being a Canadian girl, Lunette the clown was one of my Fav shows when I was a little girl. Lmao remember Mr Bed head I think was his name and Molly lmao I loved Molly because she was not only cute but her name was similar to mine lol. But I had no idea untill this past year that she had voiced Claire Redfield all those years ago and is now one of my fav series of games lol. Funny how things work eh? ....Lunette and Molly....Dolly.....at the BIG COMFY COUCH! dun dun....Lmao I still remember that song....good times good times. |

big-servalNew trailer out. Shows many CG scenes (and I mean many). SPOILERS present. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/reliving-nightmare-resident-evil/58644 There is of course Ada doing something cool. :) |

Ada Adore^ Thanks for posting! The first ten minutes of Darkside are on YouTube. Part 1- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ehvNXrqi4g Part 2- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k1JYtfFdu8&feature=related I guess the dialogue here answers the question of where Claire got her combat skills from :) |

big-servalGameTrailers released this: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/experience-the-resident-evil/57808 You will see why I posted this. Minor Spoilers present. |

Donatien Valiarde...That was awesome. ...Although, damn, I thought you were posting this because it had Ada xD (or, even better, Leon and Ada's kiss...which it does not, don't get your hopes up, others that watch this). But that was still pretty damn awesome. So, so innovative. I won't be surprised if other game trailers start following this example soon. |
